One may have a great zeal in God's service, and may be used to influence many for good, and yet, when weighed in the balance of love, be found sadly wanting.
Reason, is to weigh up an argument; to have a right judgment; to balance a situation; to formulate a hypothesis; to conceive a probability – to calculate a likely conclusion.
Hid with Him Who “changes not.” Hid with Him Who is “the same, yesterday, today and forever.” You must learn poise O soul – balance and composure, in an evil and vacillating world.
Deceitful Balance
Hosea tells us, that the world holds in its hand..
a deceitful balance If you seek after wisdom you will gain wisdom but be careful that you use it wisely, for there is only one, truly wise choice in this life, and that is death to the self-life – and living for Christ.
Sometimes it is to offer a word of comfort; sometimes to act as a balance; sometimes it is to be a solace or reassurance; sometimes it is to correct; sometimes it is to lead or to guide; sometimes it is to feed the flock – sometimes it is just to be there.
Faithful Servant
We are to be advocates one for the other – little comforters; trustworthy anchors. We are to draw alongside to support and steady, to balance and even to correct. We are exhorted to exhort other Christians when we meet together in fellowship – particularly in these evil days as the return of the Lord gets ever closer.
We have to have this balance wrought in us, and to be delivered from this tendency of allowing our problems to obscure the Lord, this inveterate habit of ours of viewing the position merely objectively instead of saying, What does the Lord want to teach us about this?
