The colour and content of Scripture paints a portrait defining the centrality of Christ. The warp and woof of God’s Word weaves an exquisite tapestry revealing His beauty. Each word of wisdom in prophecy and prose, poem and psalm proclaims His person. The meaning behind every message in the Bible manifests His unique qualities.
Christ is the truth – behind ever-gracious Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Christ is the way – guiding all who believe on His name into His path of peace. Christ is the light – illuminating each man and woman that comes into the world. Christ is the life – breathed into all who trusted in His finished work at Calvary.
Perhaps the most fundamental truth of Christ Jesus is the new life that is IN Him. Perhaps the most foundational fact is that He is central and we are to remain IN Him. When we are in Him we are protected from all that assails our life that causes us harm. When we abide in Him and rest in His love we can fully access our new-life in Him.
When we are in Christ, He is above and below – He is at our side and all around us. When we are in Him, we step into the central sphere of His great love and protection. Being in Christ is a most amazing gift from the Father – bestowed on all that are His.. for those that are IN Christ have by faith accepted God’s free gift of saving grace. They have been placed in eternal union with Christ and remain forever IN HIM.
We are IN CHRIST – JUSTIFIED. In Him we are reconciled to God; have peace with God and are in His safekeeping. In Him, we’re delivered from the Law – saved from sin’s shocking death penalty. In Him we are regenerated by the Spirit of God – in harmony with our Creator. We are His purchased possession for we were bought with the blood of the Lamb.
We are IN CHRIST – SANCTIFIED. In Him we are holy and made righteous – we have been endowed with His Spirit. We are in union with Christ and in unity with God – partaking of His holy nature. We are the habitation of God for our body is His temple – separated unto Him. We possess God and are His possession – a new creation in Christ Jesus the Lord.
We are IN CHRIST – CRUCIFIED. In Him, we are dead to the world and the selfish self-life – a new creation in Christ. In Him, we have new life and a new-found freedom – living in newness of His life. We walk in spirit and we walk in truth for we have been given the mind of Christ. We now sow to the Spirit and reap abundant life – having passed from death to life. The old is passed away and fresh liberty has come – behold all things are made new.
We are IN CHRIST – SATISFIED. In Christ, we have all we need for a life of abundant supply and deep satisfaction. He is our joy and our gain; our peace and our strength; our reward and Rewarder. He plies us with His own perfect peace in the midst of the cruel difficulties of life. He is ever-present in time of need – the rock of our salvation and our all in all. We share in His sufferings; hope in His resurrection; are promised an inheritance – for me to live in Christ and to die is gain for in Him is the fullness of joy.
We are IN CHRIST – ASCENDED. In Christ, we’re exalted to the heavenly realm – seated with Christ in heavenly places. The riches of God’s grace and His overflowing bank of privileges are ours in Christ. We are one with God in the unity of the saints and filled with Christ’s Spirit of love. We are a peculiar people, a holy nation, a kingdom of priests and heavenly beings. We are one in Christ’s ascended life and have victory over principalities and powers. In Christ, we are identified with His ascended life – participants in His heavenly joy.
We are IN CHRIST – GLORIFIED. In Christ, we also are glorified in Him – participating in His glorious victory. Our salvation is finally consummated and we rise in life victorious over the grave. All our enemies are under His feet, and ours – sin, Satan, heavenly powers and death,
As we share in the riches of His grace so we participate in the riches of His glory. We are gathered together in Christ and in Him receive the final fruition of our hope, and we will rule and reign with Him forever.. and in the ages to come – life everlasting.
