Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently. The LORD knows the days of the upright.
Psalm 37:7,18
Show us Thy way, O Lord. Give us Thy rest. Let us walk in Thy paths, O Lord. Teach us Thy truth and teach us to wait. Teach us to wait in Thy presence, O Lord – to patiently endure Thy unfolding purposes in our lives.
How we impatiently cry to the Lord at times to show us the way.. so that we can plan our route and decide the better of two paths to follow. How we foolishly fret at the prospect of what the future holds.. depending on our limited understanding and our imperfect light.
How we limit God, by projecting our human perception on the enormity of the mountainous situations that confront us. How we misunderstand what God is doing in our lives.. even distorting His character by our own understandings of His love. How we often we get in the way of His leading. How often we obstruct His guiding.
But all is well. Wonderful things are happening. God has scheduled every day of your life.. and He cares and He provides. But we need to daily uproot our-self, in all its ugly forms of self.
Self-sufficiency,
Self-reliance,
Self-improvement,
Self-importance,
Self-governance.
Do not plan the way ahead. He will unfold your pathway step by step. And He will do it His way – one step at a time; line by line; little by little, precept upon precept.
Leave tomorrow’s burdens alone. Christ is the great burden-bearer. You cannot bear the load that He will carry. He only expects you to carry a little day-share. He only expects you to take one day at a time.
Lead, kindly Light, amid the encircling gloom;
Lead Thou me on!
The night is dark, and I am far from home;
Lead thou me on!
Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene–one step enough for me.
Never miss a post
