Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of life we need to stop and think. Sometimes in the hurly-burly of living we need to focus our thoughts. We need to think on whatsoever is good.. to reflect on whatsoever is perfect, for our minds can become overwhelmed with the cares of this life.
Paul told us to concentrate our minds on what is good and perfect: every good and perfect gift comes from God James 1:17. And there is none good – no not one.. Rom.3:10 - save the man, Christ Jesus. Paul told us to set our hearts on things above Col.3:1 For minds can become overburdened with the cares of this world.
Mary discovered this secret at the feet of her Master.. Jesus. Jesus is the only one that we should seek to concentrate our hearts upon. Jesus: the substance of the Father. Jesus: begotten before the worlds. Jesus: the substance of the mother. Jesus: born into the world.
Jesus: perfect God and perfect man. Jesus: Son of God and son of Mary. Jesus: the name above all other names. What does JESUS mean to you? What does that name - the name of JESUS, really mean to you? What does JESUS.. the name above all names really mean to you? He asked, "Who do you say that I am?" "What think ye of Me?" Have you taken just one hour and really meditate on what He really means to you? "What!" He asks "Could you not watch with Me one hour?"
Jesus: that wonderful name, that name above all names. Jesus: that awesome name, the name at which every knee shall one day bow. Jesus: that precious name, the name in which the saints call upon and pray. Jesus: that redeeming name that being interpreted is "God our Salvation." Jesus - "His name will be called Wonderful." Jesus - "His name will be called Counselor." Jesus - "His name will be called Mighty God." Jesus - "His name will be called Everlasting Father." Jesus - "His name will be called Prince of Peace." Jesus - "And they shall call His name Immanuel - He shall be God with us. "Jesus, the anointed One - God incarnate. Jesus - love made flesh and tabernacling with man. Oh that men would praise the name of the LORD, for His name alone is exalted. His glory is above the earth and heaven. Psalm 43:14.
Just recently I have desired deeply and earnestly to reach out and touch the Lord.. to draw closer and closer to His sweet person.. to become increasingly and more intimately acquainted with Him. To rest more deeply in His gentle love.. to abide more faithfully in His glorious presence.. To relax more intimately in His gracious Person.. to sit more devotedly at His precious feet. To know Him and to love Him..to know Him more, to love Him more. To go deeper and deeper into a knowing of the One, that is called JESUS.
But ever in this mortal frame, there remains a deep clouded covering of unknowing, and thus it must remain. "Until I am known even as I am known." But meditating deeply on the precious Person.. the name behind the words of this inspiring hymn. Momentarily draws back the shrouded curtain of darkness - and glimpse JESUS...
How sweet the Name of JESUS sounds
In a believer’s ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.
It makes the wounded spirit whole,
And calms the troubled breast;
’Tis manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary, rest.
Dear Name, the Rock on which I build,
My Shield and Hiding Place,
My never-failing treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace
By Thee my prayers acceptance gain,
Although with sin defiled;
Satan accuses me in vain,
And I am owned a child.
Jesus! my Shepherd, Husband, Friend,
My Prophet, Priest, and King,
My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End,
Accept the praise I bring.
Weak is the effort of my heart,
And cold my warmest thought;
But when I see Thee as Thou art,
I’ll praise Thee as I ought.
Till then I would Thy love proclaim
With every fleeting breath,
And may the music of Thy Name
Refresh my soul in death!
Take time, believer, to reflect on every aspect of the name of Jesus - Prophet Priest, and King... Who for love of you set aside His glory to become one of us, that you might one day be seated with Him in heavenly places. From the rising of the sun to its going down of the same. The LORD's name is to be praised. Psalm 113:3
