The Name of Jesus

A Closer Walk

Just recently I have desired deeply and earnestly to reach out and touch the Lord.. to draw closer and closer to His sweet person.. to become increasingly and more intimately acquainted with Him. To rest more deeply In His gentle love.. to abide more faithfully In His glorious presence.. To relax more intimately In His gracious Person.. to sit more devotedly at His precious feet. To know Him and to love know Him more, to love Him more. To go deeper and deeper into a knowing of the One that is called JESUS.

A Shrouded View

But ever in this mortal frame, there remains a deep clouded covering of unknowing, and thus it must remain – “Until I am known even as I am known.” But meditating deeply on the precious Person..  the name behind the words of this inspiring hymn. Momentarily draws back the shrouded curtain of darkness – and glimpse JESUS…

The Sweetest Name

How sweet the Name of JESUS sounds
In a believer’s ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.

It makes the wounded spirit whole,
And calms the troubled breast;
’Tis manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary, rest.

Dear Name, the Rock on which I build,
My Shield and Hiding Place,
My never failing treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace

By Thee my prayers acceptance gain,
Although with sin defiled;
Satan accuses me in vain,
And I am owned a child.

Jesus! my Shepherd, Husband, Friend,
My Prophet, Priest and King,
My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End,
Accept the praise I bring.

Weak is the effort of my heart,
And cold my warmest thought;
But when I see Thee as Thou art,
I’ll praise Thee as I ought.

Till then I would Thy love proclaim
With every fleeting breath,
And may the music of Thy Name
Refresh my soul in death!

Final Reflection

Take time believer to reflect on every aspect of the name of Jesus – Prophet Priest and King.. Who for love of you set aside His glory to become one of us, that you might one day be seated with Him in heavenly places. From the rising of the sun to its going down of the same. The LORD’s name is to be praised.
