Verse of the day — 1 Peter 3:9

not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing.

The Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Anointing

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13 NIV)

If it is true that you and I have been anointed of the Holy Spirit, as we ought to be, our presence in this world ought to register something positive for God. It ought to be impossible for us to come into this world, and go out of it, without having registered something upon it. People in this world ought to feel something when we are near them. The devil himself ought to take notice that, because we are here under the Holy Spirit, Jesus is here. It is impossible for Jesus to be anywhere without something happening, and now Jesus is here by the Holy Spirit in believers. Therefore there ought to be nothing neutral about any Christian....

The Holy Spirit is positive, andnot negative, and if the Holy Spirit is really Lord in our lives, our lives will count for something. There will be an influencefrom our lives which will be eternal. Thank God for the HolySpirit! Let us be sure to ask the Lord that the anointing shallhave a free way in our lives. The effect of the Holy Spirit maybe to condemn some people, and it may be to redeem others, but Hecannot be neutral, and if the anointing is upon you and upon me,the devil will take account of it. May the Lord help us to seethat that may not be a bad thing! Do you want the devil to say:"Oh, that man, that woman, does not matter. You need not botherabout him, or her!" I had a friend once who, whenever we wereparting and going our different ways, took hold of my hand andsaid: "Goodbye, old man. The Lord make you a nuisance to thedevil!" Well, that is how it will be if the Holy Spirit is reallyupon us, for that is how it was with the Lord Jesus.

I know that my Redeemer lives.

If when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. § But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Because I live, you will live also. § If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

“The Redeemer will come to Zion, and to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” says the Lord. § We have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. § You were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

The Spirit expressly says that in latter times some willdepart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits.

Therefore take heed how you hear. § Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom. § Above all, [take] the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble … How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. § I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation.

Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. § But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

The Tree Of Life

Not I, but Christ" (Gal. 2:20).

It is not a matter of what fruit, but of which tree!

"What salvation has done is not merely forgiving me my sins; forgiveness, cleansing, justifying, applies to my responsibility and guilty condition in the first Adam; but salvation applies to my standing in the Last Adam. It is a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17).

"What would you do if you wanted to make something of a crab tree? Not nurture, and prune, and dig about it. That God has done with His fig tree (Israel). If you know anything about it, you will cut it down and graft it. Until you find out that the old man is utterly bad, and that there is no mending it, you will not give it up. If you cultivate the old crab tree you will have fair blossoms but only bigger and more sour crab apples." -J.N.D.

"Before we were saved, worldly objects and affairs usurped the place of Christ; but after being saved, spiritual objects and affairs now tend to occupy His place. Earlier God took from us the things of this world; presently He is taking away our spiritual thing or things. He removes our personal patience, love, power, gentleness, humility.

"Indeed, He removes all, that we may not live by these good things but live by a Person instead. We are patient not because we have received a power to be so, but because we have got a patient Person. So it is with humility and the rest: not a power but a Person." The fruit of the Spirit is the life of Christ.

"For to me to live is Christ" (Phil. 1:27).

Our Good God - Character and Attributes of God (4)

STUDY - Character and Attributes of GOD

LET GOD BE TRUE, and every man a liar.
Romans.3:4

Good God

“Goodness” is in the eye of the beholder and it means all things to all men, but the Word of Scripture tells us that there is none good.. not even one – that God alone is good,  as Jesus, the God-Man reminded the rich young ruler.

Eternal Attributes

God’s goodness is one of multifaceted faces on the gemstone of His attributes. It is inter-twined and eternally-linked with all of God’s superlative characteristics. His goodness is infinitely perfect. His loving-kindness endures through all generations. Our ‘Good God’ is unfailingly kind, cordial, benevolent, generous and tender-hearted, yet this ‘Good God’ also becomes a blasphemy blare from mankind’s profane choir.

God’s Grace

Nevertheless God causes His Son to shine on the evil as well as the good. He sends His rain on the just and the unjust alike for God is very, very good.. and the truth of the goodness of God is disbelieved by saint and sinner alike..  as they, through human reason try to come to terms with this evil-saturated world.

Man’s Questions

How can a good God allow this to happen?” argue disbelieving religious skeptics. “How can our Father allow His children to suffer?” is questioned by confused believers. “Why?” is inquiry on the lips of many who doubt His goodness and debate His power.. and barricades of contempt for God are erected by non-believing, foolish cynics – and blocked wall of resigned unbelief are constructed, by disappointed believers.

Foolish Folk

To Jew and Gentile, sinner and saint alike, every question is answered in Holy Writ, and the words resound as loudly today as they did 2000 years ago:- Had you believed Moses.. you would have believed ME.. Had you believed the prophets through whom God spoke, you would understand. Had you believed Me – O foolish folk and slow of heart to believe all scripture.

Man’s Logic

If unbelieving saints or disbelieving sinners choose to use their own logic..  they will continue to question

Knowing Jesus Devotional by Elizabeth Haworth

The Name of Jesus

Perfect Reflections

Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of life we need to stop and think. Sometimes in the hurly-burly of living we need to focus our thoughts. We need to think on whatsoever is good.. to reflect on whatsoever is perfect, for our minds can become overwhelmed with the cares of this life.

Perfect Gifts

Paul told us to concentrate our minds on what is good and perfect: every good and perfect gift comes from God James 1:17. And there is none good – no not one.. Rom.3:10 - save the man, Christ Jesus. Paul told us to set our hearts on things above Col.3:1 For minds can become overburdened with the cares of this world.

Perfect Person

Mary discovered this secret at the feet of her Master.. Jesus. Jesus is the only one that we should seek to concentrate our hearts upon. Jesus: the substance of the Father. Jesus: begotten before the worlds. Jesus: the substance of the mother. Jesus: born into the world.

Perfect Name

Jesus: perfect God and perfect man. Jesus: Son of God and son of Mary. Jesus: the name above all other names. What does JESUS mean to you? What does that name - the name of JESUS, really mean to you? What does JESUS.. the name above all names really mean to you? He asked, "Who do you say that I am?" "What think ye of Me?" Have you taken just one hour and really meditate on what He really means to you? "What!" He asks "Could you not watch with Me one hour?"

Perfect Redeemer

Jesus: that wonderful name, that name above all names. Jesus: that awesome name, the name at which every knee shall one day bow. Jesus: that precious name, the name in which the saints call upon and pray. Jesus: that redeeming name that being interpreted is "God our Salvation." Jesus - "His name will be called Wonderful." Jesus - "His name will be called Counselor." Jesus - "His name will be called Mighty God." Jesus - "His name will
