What an astonishing few years the twelve disciples had as they walked with Christ. Twelve men, chosen of God to walk the path to the cross – with God incarnate. God Who at sundry times and in diverse manners spoke through the prophets... for three and a half years spoke through His own human voice. God spoke through the Man Christ Jesus.
God in His justice cannot look upon sin, for the wages of sin is death. God in His love discovered a way to have those sins forgiven, forever. God is His wisdom sent His only begotten Son that we could have life – His Life.
God – the invisible God, cannot look upon sin and hid His pure face from sinful man. God in His mercy, sought to manifest Himself fully in the last days, through Christ, God in His grace towards us, opened our understanding of Himself, through Jesus. All the fullness of the knowledge of God is only and exclusively – through Christ, All the secret things of God – the mystery of godliness was summed up in Him, And in the fullness of time God sent His Son, born of a woman to walk this earth.
All God‘s works were performed through the Word – the Word Who became flesh. All God’s blessings and healings – flow through faith in the Man, Christ Jesus, for in Him all things were made and by Him, all things hold together. All the blessings of God are poured through the cleansing blood of the Saviour.. so that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and on earth—in Him.” Ephesians 1:10
What an astonishing few years the twelve disciples had as they walked with Jesus. They thought they knew their Lord as they walked with Him and listened to Him.. yet only hours before his death He had to ask, “have I been with you so long – and yet you have not known Me, Philip?” John 14:9
We are told that no one knows the Son, save the Father. All that the Son was and is and is to be – was locked up in the heart of God. And yet, it was in the heart of the Father to give revelation of His truth... for without God’s revelation, we cannot know Him.. for no one knows the Father except the Son – and the ones to whom the Son will reveal Him. Matthew 11:27 Yet He was despised – rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
For 3½ years the very revelation of God walked this earth, but He was not accepted. He came unto His own creation and His own people did not receive Him, but as many as did receive Him to them He gave the power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. Romans 8:14 God has made His position very clear, yet very few truly receive His truth. There is one way and one way alone to come to the Father, and that is through faith – Faith in what? Faith in the Son.
His own people believed in God – the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Many more believe in a distant creator God, Who rules from the heavens. But belief in God, faith in God, trust in God…. must be translated into faith in Christ Jesus the Lord. In his own hometown – the little Jewish town of Nazareth, they believed in God. Neighbours travelled to Jerusalem thrice yearly to worship God as the law instructed.
Yet they didn’t receive the blessing of God… like the blessing given to the leper… the blessing given to the blind… blessing given to the lame – the blessing given to the woman with an issue of blood…”For he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.” Mark 6:5
It was not their unbelief in God. It was not their unbelief in the coming expected Messiah. They believed in God and they believed in the expected Messiah, but they were offended in Him – in Jesus – in God’s revelation of Himself.
For it is only through the faith in the Son of God, Who loves me that I live; Faith in the Son of Man, Who gave Himself for me…. that I am forgiven; Faith in the Servant King – Who broke the power of sin and death in me – that I have access to the throne room of the Father, and I am permitted to call Him Abba, Father. Romans 8:15
What an astonishing few years the twelve disciples had as they walked with Jesus. Twelve men, chosen by God, to walk the path to the cross, with God incarnate, yet even after His resurrection some did not believe. Some of His own hand-picked apostles doubted Him.
Do you trust in the Lord, Christ Jesus, and in Him alone? Do you have faith in the Son of God – the Son of Man… God incarnate? “According to your faith (in the One Revelation of God Himself) be it unto you.” “According to your faith (in the Lord Jesus Christ) let it be to you.” “Be of good cheer, your faith (in the Son of Man) has made you well.” “Go your way; your faith (in the Son of God) has made you whole.” “Great is thy faith (in Me). Be it unto thee even as thou wilt”. Let us examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith (in Christ alone)
