• I remember you always for these three things: your work of FAITH, your labour of LOVE, your patience of HOPE in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father .1Thessalonians 1:3

• There is a sifting government of God as well as a perfect redemption, and He is full of patience.

• In much patience; in afflictions; in necessities; in distresses; in stripes; in imprisonments; in tumults; in labours; in watching..

• In chapter 5 we read: Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that He is very pitiful and of tender mercy.” James 5:11.

• A believer may thus inherit patience, and although he may be but a babe in Christ, he is seen to be more stable than a more advanced believer, because whatever goes wrong he stands unruffled.

• After repeated failures of his natural virtue of patience, he realizes that it is not enough to meet all trials, and carry him triumphantly through them all.

• Apparent Contradiction Well – have you not prayed for patience down through those long years of seeking His face?

• Unsound Doctrines It is not only starting of the race that is important but the completing of the course, and it takes time and it takes perseverance to run the race set before us, with patience – and it needs both effort and endeavour to lay aside all distractions and outer influences.

• His Hope And He gives us hope.. even though the way is strewn with impossibilities, for tribulation worketh patience..

• Such are full of love and patience, and do not lose their poise when everything seems to be going to pieces.

• Universal Episode Where love is wounded to its core; where trust is tried to its bitter limits; where hope seems dashed to the stony ground; where joy seems ground to the dust of ashes; where patience screams forgive!

• Suffering of Faith But it pleases Him Who is sovereign, Who gives according to His own pleasure, to bid our patience develop into long, long-suffering, Into the long, longer..

• What more satisfied and appyperson is there even amidst suffering and sorrow than he or she who is most perfect in patience, love, faith, and the other fruits of the Spirit?

• KAWAH – In Isaiah 40 we read that: they who WAIT (kawah) upon the Lord shall renew their strength, which demonstrates a patience endurance as one waits for the Lord to do all that He has promised, and all that He has purposed.

• Praying with all manner of prayer and entreaty.  Praying to that end that we keep alert and watchful.  Praying with strong purpose; patience endurance – perseverance.  Praying and interceding on behalf of all the saints.  Praying - Always – With – All Prayer – and Supplication – in the Spirit.

• Heavenly Things Hebrews 8:5 tells us that the terrestrial, serves as examples and shadows of heavenly things, and become an example of suffering affliction, and of patience, we should bear..
• Our deeds also should be carried out with much patience and grace.

• Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and long-suffering with joyfulnessColossians 1:10-14
• Meaning of Patience We all have our own idea of patience and what it means to be a patient man or a patient woman.
• Patience can also be a teacher..  willingly explaining a difficult concept for the “n’th” time.
• Long-suffering Patience Often we see the farmer as patient, who unhurriedly waits for the harvest to ripen – and being quiet and calm under the stroke of adverse fortune, can demonstrate a patient spirit. There are also elements of patience seen in the ongoing grind of daily duties. All such demonstrations of patience are worthy examples of long-suffering.
• Endurance Patience When patience is teamed up with distance running it has a different connotation – endurance linked with patience can mean to keep on going, with the utmost of effort.
• Godly Patience The world exemplifies this through mind over matter – carried out in the flesh, but such patience always falls short of the godly patience that we are to exhibit.
• It falls far short of the One true exemplification of godly patience.
• Standard of Patience The Lord Jesus is our pattern and example of patience – our model and our standard. His life is a true example of perseverance, tolerance, long-suffering – and patience.
• Christ’s Patience There was an enduring patience, and a patient endurance, seen in the life of Jesus!
• Enduring Patience As believers, we have His life and His strength within, upon which to draw daily.
• We can utilise Christ’s spirit of patient endurance and His enduring patience..
• Waiting Patience Like Christ, our race of life is marked out by God, and each day is scheduled by Him. Christians are to draw on His grace alone – to run with patience the race set before us:  for those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall rise up with wings as eagles.
• Exercising Patience Many of us would nurse our grief without crying if we were allowed to nurse it, but in Christ, we can exercise our patience, not only in sickness but in the street.
• We can run with patience and endure patiently as we draw our strength from Christ.
• Patience-In Christ In Christ…  we can bury our sorrows, not in lethargy, but in active service.
• We can run with patience the race that is set before us, if we look to Jesus.
• Obedient Patience Patient endurance and enduring patience is seen throughout the life of Christ! At one time His life was waiting in obedience... at another a running obedience.
• Unique Patience Throughout His life, the Lord bore many griefs – unshared and unspoken.
• But for the whole of his life – Christ ran with patience to the cross.

• Let us be like the Thessalonian believers, who Paul remembers with affection for... your work of Faith, your labour of Love, and your patience of Hope, in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,” 1 1Thessalonians 1:3
• Work of Faith There can be no acceptable work of God in our lives that is not a work of faith. There can be no work of faith, which is not a labour of God’s agape love in us. There can be no end-time endurance without the patience of hope resting on Him.

• If I am not going to give it up and leave, I must come to some spiritual enlargement; I have to know the Lord in a new way, to have more grace, love and patience.

• This remnant man had lived a life of blind faith, love, patience...  and he waited.
• This is a life of patience, and it is a life of waiting... for the Spirit Himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. Romans 8:16

• There was infinitely more than the power and the wisdom reflected in creation…  there was love, mercy, patience, tenderness and gentleness.

• Have you longed for the fruit of the Spirit, and have you prayed for patience and love?

• A helping hand is often needed, to raise the helpless to courage; to faith;  to patience; to endurance; to hope – to love.

• Developing Patience So let your patient endurance have a chance to grow through those fiery trials..

• Be filled, or go on being filled with the Holy Spirit, as we read in Ephesians 5:8.  But even this is a choice for the believer.  Paul tells the Colossians the great desire of his heart toward all the believers. Paul longs that all believers are filled to overflowing, be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and long-suffering with joyfulness.

• And then you will discover that, whereas the other line of things with all the movement and activity and feverish and excited work does not call for very much patience of this kind.

• This is the place where the greatest patience and trusting hope must be exhibited… where Love and Faith support the weary arms of Hope..  just as Joshua and Hur held up the weary arms of Moses, until the precious desire blossoms forth as a Tree of Life..
• Patience in Hope So refuse to despair.
• Deferred hope is not something that only you are facing today; it is Job – in his tempest; it is Abraham, on the long and dusty road to Moriah; it is Moses,  in the blistering deserts of Midian; it is Elijah, beside the evaporating brook of Cherith. It is Habakkuk, trembling in his Shigionoth. It is the Son of Man, prostrate in the Garden of Gethsemane. There is no patience so hard to bear as hope that has been deferred. This is waiting for a delayed hope, which requires endurance, patience, perseverance.

• Trials and Temptations God reveals patience and other graces through life’s trials and temptations. God develops faith in the man or woman that is thus broken before Him. James tells us to count it all joy when you fall into various trials.

• James writes: My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience..
• but let patience have its perfect work in you, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

• You have no patience with these contemplative people.

• Consider His Patience Consider His patience, for He is the God of patience and comfort.
• We read in 2 Thessalonians 3:5 “now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ”.

• Patience : for love suffers long.Kindness : for love is kind.Generosity : for love envieth not.Humility : for love vaunteth not itself and is not puffed up.Courtesy : for love does not behave itself unseemly.Unselfishness : for love seeketh not her own.Good temper : for love is not easily provoked.Guilelessness : for love thinks no evil.Sincerity : for love rejoices not in iniquity but rejoices in the truth.

• How do you know but that in that very uninteresting, perhaps unpromising sphere of life you are on test on some of those great matters, such as faith, patience, or patient endurance?
• When we come to analyze the throne we may find that it is made up of patience, faith, endurance, and all such moral elements, and that these elements constitute the power by which He governs.
• It is sharing the patience of Jesus Christ which is sharing the throne.
• There is something mighty in the ultimate outworking of the patience of Jesus, the faith of Jesus Christ, the endurance.

• He removes our personal patience, love, power, gentleness, humility.

• Hidden Strength But if God permits a man to be overwhelmed with deepest sorrow and darkest blackness, it will prove in the end to an experience that develops patience, tenderness, and forbearance – and it will give that man a hidden strength and gentleness.

• It Takes Patience There are great days, days of decisive battles, days of crises in spiritual history, days of triumph in Christian service, days of the right hand of God upon us.

• How can we go on in peace and patience with such things in our life?

• The Father will not give you humility or patience or love as separate gifts of grace; He has given you the Lord Jesus, and if you simply trust Him to live out His life in you, He will be humble, patient, loving and everything else you need.

• in my flesh dwelleth no good thing.' Coupled with that is the lesson that God waits with infinite patience, like the potter, to work out a design and beauty with such frail material. -M.H.F.

• Faithful Life This faithful godly man was given illumination in his old age, because he demonstrated a life of faith, of love, of patience and – Simeon waited.

• Prayer Anomalies We pray for patience as we picture a babbling brook in a sunny garden of ease... and yet He causes us to bang heads with those who tax us to the point of exhaustion, until He brings us into that place of submission, and moulds us into His likeness.

• Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, persecutions, and sufferings....continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them.

• We are reminded to live in unity with one another, to live in lowliness of heart, gentleness of spirit, and to endure suffering with patience throughout this earthly life.

• John is often referred to as the apostle of love while Paul is seen as the apostle of grace - but the truth of the gospel of Christ is rooted and grounded in love and grace - together with mercy and compassion, goodness and faithfulness, joy and peace in believing, patience and self-control.

• God will never tempt a man to sin, for God hates sin and cannot look upon sin, but God will often use temptation in a man's life to test his faith, patience, and perseverance, and the one that endures the test will glorify God.

• As we trust His Word, carry out His will, abide in Him, and He is us, we will bear the fruit of patience and hone our faith in Him.

• Jesus used stories like the good Samaritan, the wise and foolish builders, and a fishing dragnet, to illustrate some of His teachings, while Paul utilised the patience of a long-distance runner or the courage of faithful soldiers in the fulfilment of their duty.

• However, if we suffer for doing the right thing and accept it with grace and patience, God is pleased with us and honoured by our life.
• May we be willing to suffer with patience for our God and Saviour in these perilous times, knowing that this brings honour to His name.

• The trials and testings through which God's servants are often allowed to pass are very precious to our Heavenly Father, for they produce endurance, steadfastness, patience, and a strengthened faith.

• Only by grace through faith can we experience the beautiful fruit of the Spirit in our hearts - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

• When with patience, we steadfastly hope in the Lord and stand firm on the promises of God, we have an inner-assurance in His Word of truth, for God has placed His Word above His holy name.

• It is to possess a purposeful patience and not to display a glum resignation.

• The trio of patience, kindness, and goodness, are predominantly attributes that are displayed in gracious conduct towards other people, while the trinity of faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, are hidden facets, deep within, that God alone can truly discern.

• While some people are adept at perfecting certain of these spiritual characteristics in their own strength, the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, can only be genuinely manifested in a spirit-filled man or woman.

• Indeed, it is recorded that there were over 60 million slaves in Paul's day, and much attention was given, in Scripture, to the instruction and conduct of slaves, as well as their slave-masters.People often offered themselves as slaves when they fell on hard times, and Paul gave important instructions on how to carry out their duties as unto the Lord, even when their masters were unfair.Although he gave instructions on godly living as a slave, Paul also encouraged those in slavery to secure their freedom whenever possible: If you are able also to become free, rather do that, was His wise advice.Of particular importance, it is to be noted that nowhere in Scripture are members of Christ's Body instructed to engage in the abolishment of slavery or the correction of any other social injustices, in preference to our given ministry to the lost.Jesus said, The poor you will have with you always, and Paul could easily have said, slaves will continue to be with you (however distasteful this is) until Christ's return when He comes to set up His earthly kingdom of peace, prosperity, righteousness, and justice.Although we must certainly stand against the evils of our day, protect those that are weak, help those that are afflicted by social injustices, and show patience towards all men, the preeminent function of the Christian Church is to honour the Lord and tell sinners about Jesus – that He died to pay the price for our sin and rose again so that all who believe on Him will not perish, but have eternal life.We are told to go into all the world and preach the word of truth to a lost and dying humanity.

• He endured the grief and pain with patience by entrusting Himself to God Who judges all things righteously.

• They were instructed to reprove and rebuke the flock of God, and they were to exhort those is their care with all patience, healthy teaching, and sound doctrine.

• By God's grace, may we seek to live our lives according to His Word and for His greater praise and glory as we reflect on His tender mercies and gracious patience - for He is our heavenly Shepherd, and He is our eternal King Who has promised to guide us in the way of righteousness and to uphold us with His gracious hand.

• In order to be worthy of our calling, we are to walk in humility of heart and gentleness of spirit, showing tolerance to one another and godly patience - as we walk in love, bear one another's burdens, and strive to preserve in the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace.

• When a Christian man honours his wife as a fellow heir of grace, he will manifest godly love and will show understanding, patience, kindness, and honour to his spouse.

• As a natural vine-branch should bear sweet grapes, so we who are spiritual vine-branches should bear forth the spiritual fruit that comes from our true Vine: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

• In Galatians 5, Pauls presents us with a comprehensive list of spiritual fruit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

• The Lord sanctioned Israel to wander 40-years in the wilderness because they tried His patience and tested His forbearance with their lack of faith.
• Like them, we are under His protective care and sovereign authority, but we are in spiritual danger if we ignore His voice, harden our hearts, test His patience, disobey His Word, and do not press on to spiritual maturity. 
• Israel tried God's patience and tested His forbearance for 40 long years: Your fathers tried Me by testing Me, and saw my works for forty years.
• But unbelief and incessant grumbling against God and fear of the 'giants', tried His patience, tested His forbearance, and prevented them from receiving all that God had prepared for them: And so for 40 years He was disgusted with that generation; and said, 'They are a people whose hearts go astray; they do not know My ways.'

• And yet he also wrote of God's long-suffering patience, His loving-kindness, and His never-failing tender-mercy towards His errant people.

• It warns of the futility of doubting God's Word and reminds us of the beautiful fruit that comes from a spirit of patience and grace.He warns against conceiving sin in our heart and the devastation that can be caused by an unguarded tongue.

• He knows that unless our Christian life produces the fruit of the Spirit; long-suffering, patience, love, and joy, as well as humility, goodness, kindness, and self-control, it will profit us nothing and will not glorify our Father, Who is in heaven.
• This is not what Paul was describing when he prayed: May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with joy.

• When we recognise what amazing grace the Lord is showing to this group of unspiritual Christians who were engaging in such ungodly pursuits and divisive arguments, it should cause us to humble ourselves before our long-suffering Father, Who demonstrates equal grace and patience towards every one of His children.

• We are to walk in unity of spirit and humility of heart... with gentleness and patience.

• Faith and patience are the twin sisters that accompany a man or woman of God along their journey of life.

• James starts to bring his letter to a close with an exhortation to patience: Therefore, be patient, brethren, he pleads, be patient until the coming of the Lord.
• The patience about which James is speaking is exemplified by a life that honours the Lord in thought, word, and deed, through good works and godly living.
• This time his instruction is not about maintaining patience throughout our earthly life, but is an exhortation to run a race of persistent perseverance to the very end of our life: Until the coming of the Lord! 
• Here in this passage, James uses the farmer who waits for many months or years for the precious produce of the soil to germinate and grow, to bud, blossom, and bring forth its fruit as an example of the patient endurance that should be evident in each of our lives; a patience that waits expectantly, joyfully, and hopefully in this fallen world, until the return of the Lord for His Church.
• May we be ready and willing to persevere under trials and tribulation and allow patience to blossom in our lives, knowing the day is coming when those who are approved will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

• Children are a gift from God and to dedicate time and patience in the child-training process is the right, responsibility, and joy of all parents.

• He was to rebuke, encourage, warn, and exhort with great patience.

• What a wonderful example of God’s loving-kindness and gracious patience towards His people is discovered in the pages of Isaiah, and what graphic details are painted of Jesus, the suffering Servant, Who was despised and rejected of men.

• Paul always kept the believers at Thessalonica in his prayers because he was well-aware of their work of faith, their labour of love, and their patience in hope.

• He makes it clear that judgement will fall and the people will be scattered, while painting a magnificent picture of God's never-failing patience and grace towards them.

• James is calling Christians to godly living, a mature faith, patience when tested, a joyful attitude in trials, a gracious compassion for others, and someone who is to be a 'doer' of the Word and not simply a hearer only.

• In an attempt to save others from the coming devastation, he became a preacher of righteousness who started to forewarn his neighbours of impending judgement, but they scoffed at his invitation to save their soul and spurned the long-suffering patience of the Lord Who is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance, for the Lord is not slack in fulfilling His Word.

• Despite the shocking treatment Joseph experienced, he trusted God through it all and displayed humility, wisdom, courage, patience, and faith.

• Then we truly will be equipped to preach the Word, to be ready in season and out of season to preach and teach, to reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete godly patience and sound teaching.

• Timothy was to be so diligent, alert, and secure in the truth of the Scripture, that he would be enabled to confidently search out every opportunity to preach the truth of God's Word, as well as to reprove, rebuke, and exhort other believers, with great patience and instruction.
• If our faith is firmly founded on the truth of God's inerrant Word, we will be thoroughly equipped to preach the Word in every circumstance of life and encourage, reprove, rebuke, and exhort our brothers and sisters in Christ, with great patience and instruction.

• Earlier in this passage, James deals with the trials and temptations of this life, which God uses to increase our faith in Him and develop godly patience and a Christlike attitude.

• Ruth longed for Boaz to come to her, but we hear the wise advice of her mother-in-law, sit still my daughter, until you know how the matter will fall: for the man will not rest, until he has finished the thing this day. Ruth had to learn patience as she waited for Boaz to attend to the important business affairs regarding their marriage union, and Ruth had to trust him to return at the appropriate time, when all the arrangements had been completed - to claim her as his bride.

• Like so many of Paul's epistles, this second letter to the Thessalonians opens with a prayer of thanksgiving and praise for the faith, hope, love, and patience of these believers, amid the serious trials and tribulation they were facing.

• It continues with the Millennial rule of Christ, when Jesus will rule the earth with a rod of iron; a time when justice and righteousness will reign upon earth: For the patience of our Lord is an opportunity for sinners to be saved.

• May the patience, humility, gentleness, and love we show to each other be known to all, as together we draw near to God.

• Christ suffered unjustly with much patience... and we are to apply this same principle of patient-endurance in the midst of unfair treatment and discriminatory practices that we may receive in our own Christian walk.

• He spoke of God's faithfulness in chastening His people and His patience in seeking to bring them back to Himself.

• Let us in His strength, keep our eyes fixed on Jesus so that we become a true reflection of His grace and compassion, His patience and love.

• James encourages us to consider the various trials we encounter as a joy, knowing that the testing of our faith produces endurance and develops godly patience which causes us to grow more and more like our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

• Faith and patience, in the face of trials and tribulation, were two qualities of the Thessalonian believers.

• Spiritual growth is evidenced through the precious fruit of the Holy Spirit, but it takes time to mature and there is a clearly defined process of development and growth if we are to grow in grace and show forth the spiritual fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
• And as we journey through our Christian life, we are to: Add to our knowledge temperance or self-control; and to self-control we are to add patience.
• To patience we are to add godliness, so that we can continue towards the ultimate goal that God has for each one of His children, which is brotherly kindness, Christian love, and Christlikeness.

• We have a positive responsibility to obey His Word and apply it in our everyday life, for when we walk in the unity of the Spirit and live in holiness of heart, we mature in the faith, grow in grace, and produce the fruit of humility, patience, gentleness, and love.

• While earthly parents may try to teach their children obedience, kindness, and other important character-forming attributes, the Lord's discipline brings a rich and fruitful harvest of spiritual graces... peace and patience, faith and submission, goodness and grace, righteousness and love.

• We see a Man of kindness and patience.

• The endurance they displayed in the midst of reprehensible oppression and numerous trials, was a testimony to their patience, perseverance, and faith.

• The apostle used Job as the ultimate example of endurance in the midst of extreme pressure and steadfast patience in times of deep distress.
• You have heard of the endurance of Job, James writes, before reminding us that all things work together for good for those that love God and are fitting into His plan. You have heard of the patience of Job - and how he persevered under great pressure.
• Not only does the testing of our faith work patience, which is an important attribute in the maturing Christian who is growing in grace and being conformed into the image and likeness of the Lord Jesus, but it ALSO brings glory to God and will one day be used to teach the angelic host about the never-changing character of our faithful Lord.

• It is the riches of His kindness, His tolerance, and patience, that have been instrumental in withholding judgement on this God-hating, Christ-rejecting, sinful world.
• The tolerance and patience of God towards His saved people, leads us to confess our faults, turn from sin, and be returned into fellowship with our heavenly Father.
• May we never think lightly of the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience.
• May we always remember that God's delay is often a demonstration of the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, toward carnal Christians, as well as lost sinners - which is leading many to repentance and salvation... for the forgiveness of sin, and security in Christ.

• First, we should go and correct a Christian brother in private, but our words should be seasoned with salt, and our attitude should reflect a Christ-like humility, a godly gentleness, and Spirit-filled patience so that we are enabled to give and to receive correction in truth and in love.

• His goal also included giving godly instruction to those that were saved by grace through faith in Christ, and to remind pastors and teachers to preach the Word of God in season and out of season, and to correct, rebuke, and encourage the flock of God with great patience and careful instruction.

• We are to put on a heart of compassion and bring forth the spiritual fruit of kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, and we are to bear with one another in love, forgiving each other with grace, just as God in Christ has forgiven us.

• Christ had promised to send the Spirit of comfort into their hearts after His departure into heaven; the Spirit of love, and life, and joy, and patience, and hope, and wisdom, and grace, and peace.

• Men are encouraged to be sober, respectful, temperate, and sound in faith, love, and patience, while older women are urged to exhibit reverent behaviour, be circumspect in their demeanour, and be careful to curb their tongues.

• They were to preach the Word and be prepared in-season and out-of-season: to correct, rebuke, encourage, and minister sound doctrine to the flock of God, with great patience and careful instruction.

• He is breaking up the fallow ground within our own hearts and He is sowing His seeds of love and grace, humility, kindness, and patience, as He weeds out the thorns and thistles of Self-interest, Self-importance, and Self-dependence - which is the ugly fruit of the old sin nature.

• But the important message that he wanted to relay to Timothy was faithfulness - to faithfully continue to preach the Word, to be ready in season and out of season, to be prepared to reprove, rebuke, exhort, and encourage other believers with great patience and godly instruction.

• And so we are called to be faithful soldiers who obey their commander-in-chief, determined athletes who run with patience the race set before them, industrious farmers who faithfully plant and tend their crops to harvest, diligent workmen who treasure God's Word in their hearts, and strong buildings which stand firm on their immovable foundation, and that Rock is Christ.

• They were lacking in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, and as a result we discover them to be the most carnal believers to whom Paul wrote; and carnality results in a stunted Christian life.

• Israel's rebellion exhausted the patience of the Lord and the northern kingdom would soon be carried away into slavery.

• This section of Paul's letter begins by explaining the responsibility we have as Christians, to walk in a manner that is worthy of our calling, and to live together in unity of spirit, with all humility, gentleness, patience, and loving tolerance towards one another.
