• God’s children became the Church, the new creation, which is His body - the Church, the fullness of Him” Ephesians 1:23.  For 2000 years the church of Christ has been quietly growing into a corporate body, and God is bringing that new creation in Christ into His planned fullness: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Ephesians 4:13.

• Until we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:13
• God is bringing each one of His children into a blessed unity of trust in Him.
• Glorious Purpose Unity of the saints is a foundational creed emanating from Christ’s priestly prayer:- that they may be one as We are One, I in them and You in Me— so that they may be brought to complete unity.
• John 17:22 And this unity is for a glorious purpose:- then the world will know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me John 17:23
• Unity of the Faith We are to grow in grace and in a knowledge of Him, until we all come to the unity of the faith..
• until that wonderful day when “we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of Christ, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of His fullness of Christ.

• PRAYING Prayer must have a definite aim, which is in unity with the purpose of God.

• Bond of Peace This beautiful promise is much overlooked amidst it more enviable cousins, and yet Paul exhorts us, keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

• Body of Christ The body of Christ is being built up until we all come into the unity of the saints.
• Unity of Spirit The Church of Christ is viewed by the Father as a living organism – a single unit.
• The fullness of the stature of Christ requires unity of spirit with fellow believers.
• Godly Communion There is unity and communion that the Godhead enjoys eternally – Father, Son, and Spirit.
• Gifts and Graces Much of the Church today is being robbed of the unity about which Christ prayed,  so how can the body grow and build itself up in love – each part doing its work?  Well, Paul has already reminded us, in the previous verses, that we all are equipped.
• both individually and corporately, until we come to a unity in our faith – and deeper knowledge of Christ Jesus..  until we are all mature in the faith – until the body of Christ reaches its full stature, even the fullness of Christ Jesus.
• May we continue to build and be built, until we all come to unity in the faith.  May we be fitly framed together – speaking the truth in love as we grow in grace.  May we walk in humility and gentleness, patience and love.

• We are citizens of heaven; ambassadors of God and Christ’s representatives on earth.  Is it not our responsibility as His children to live in unity and godly conduct – in Him?
• But we have within us the means to live as Christ lived and to dwell in unity of spirit.
• Unity of the Spirit We have the indwelling Spirit of wisdom and grace – the Spirit of power and love.
• We have the fruitful Spirit of goodness and grace – of truth, of power, and of UNITY.
• That bond of unity for which Christ prayed so earnestly should be our dear desire.
• Should we not prayerfully seek to remain in unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace?

• When everything is conformed to Christ and takes its character from Him, it will be one glorious, harmonious whole, perfected into one, just one glorious unity... I have only opened a window to you through which you can see a universe.

• Our Lord is the only One Who is in unity with His two natures – of God and of man.

• Directly we are born again we are positioned in Christ for time and eternity, but fellowship with God and unity with the Spirit can be damaged and broken.

• Maturing, sanctifying, growing faith… until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son, that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

• And we know that all things work together for good to those that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.Romans 8:28Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:Ephesians 4:13
• We who trust in Him are the called according to this greater purpose of God, and throughout our Christian lives, we are being trained through testings, trials and temptations – until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God – until we all become mature, and attain to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

• Fullness of God You can read about the fullness of our faithful God in Ephesians 3:19… and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.  You can read about the fullness of our faithful Christ in Ephesians 4:13 …until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.  You can read about the fullness of the Godhead in Coossiansl 2:9… For in him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

• That is the place to which to come for unity.

• Timeless, spaceless, single, lonely;Yet sublimely Three,Lone in grandeur,Only; always God in Unity.

• Christ Himself prophesied of this positional truth as a new, future, and unique event. Paul was appointed to be the apostle to declare this new and wonderful positional truth. Paul’s writings are flooded with this glorious positional truth, of our unity with Christ.

• All the church of Christ are in unity with Him; one with Him; in union with Him, and the heart of Christ is that all who believe on Him are one with Him: as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
• Earthly Responsibility We have a heavenly future but currently, we have an earthly responsibility to be one – to live in unity one with one another – to reflect the Lord Jesus Christ.
• We have not been left as orphans or widows but have been filled with the Spirit.  The Lord has equipped each one of us with His Spirit of unity and His Spirit of life.
• Spirit of Unity 8.
• We have the Spirit of unity in the body of Christ:- there is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling.

• He goes on:- 'for my concern is that their hearts may be braced (comforted, cheered, and encouraged), so they are knit together in love – in unity and in oneness – in Christ.'

• Covered in Christ Let us seek to remain in direct unity in the bond of love and fellowship..

• a deep, deep work, in the inner man of the new creation..,  till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, into a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ Ephesians.4:13 And that’s the new man in Christ.
• Will of God The mystery of God’s will is that we come to unity in the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God.

• save the Eternal tri-unity of Love.

• How is this perfect unity reached?
• By all that is individual and personal being left, by the Lord being the focal center, and by our giving diligence to maintain the unity in that way; keeping all personal things out, and keeping Christ and His interests always in view.... This is not visionary, imaginative, or merely idealistic, it is very practical.
• How is that kind of thing to be dealt with in order to keep the unity of the Spirit?
• That is giving diligence to keep the unity.... Life is by unity, and unity can only adequately be found in Christ being in His place as the One for whom we let go everything that is personal.

• Adam’s Fall Adam also enjoyed the privilege of sweet fellowship with his Creator God – for the spirit of Adam walked in unity with the Spirit of God – and they walked and talked together in the cool of the evening, in that glorious garden – in beautiful fellowship.

• It must have rejoiced Paul’s heart to see the genuine love they had for each other..  just as the Father rejoices when He sees His children trusting His word – just as the Lord’s heart is gladdened when members of His body dwell in unity.

• His loving presence is not merely for personal pleasure, but a unity of the spirit in the fellowship of love.

• It is what the apostle means when he says, i>Give diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit.We shall never keep the unity of the Spirit by taking sides with one against another.

• Grace is rooted and established in the tri-unity of the eternal Father, Son, and Spirit.

• He is the omnipotent, omnipresent, tri-unity – He is indeed sovereign and infinite.

• Complete Unity May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that You sent Me – for I have loved them even as You have loved Me. Father, I want those You have given me to be with Me where I am – to see My glory, the glory You have given me because You loved Me.. before the creation of the world.

• Tri-unity of God God is a Tri-unity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

• Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:3 NIV)
• i>Giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit(Eph. 4:3), not to make it but to keep it.

• And like many saints before you – you will press towards the mark, in unity with the Spirit.

• Trinity in Unity God is the great Trinity.
• A tri-unity of Persons: Father, Son, and Spirit.
• The Lord our God is One... One in unity, One in attributes, One in power, One in love.

• Without Me (i.e., apart from Me, in separation from Me) ye can do nothing.' To abide in Christ is the only secret of Christlikeness; for only thus is obtained the likeness of unity, which is perfect and enduring, instead of the likeness of conformity, which is only partial and transient. -A.J.G.

• Unity of the Spirit But how is a believer to walk worthy without striving – without our own self-effort? How are we to live a life that is worthy of the calling wherewith we have been called?  Well, Paul tells us in the next verse of Ephesians chapter 4.
• Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:2
• How to Live AHH, I hear you say, how can I make every effort to do this without self-effort? How can I be humble, gentle, and patient without making every effort to be so? How can love others in the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace?

• Be long-suffering and forbearing with one another -in love – Oh, and endeavour to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace – and love each other.

• Timeless; spaceless; single lonelyYet sublimely Three,Thou are grandly; always; only God in unity.

• It was the Son of God Himself, the very Word of the Almighty, Who spoke the plan and purpose of God the Father into being, as the Spirit of God Himself moved over the face of the waters to form and fashion and fill the empty void which the Trinity in Unity called into being.

• It was at that time that the Lord Jesus began in earnest to prepare His little band of faithful followers for His shocking betrayal, false accusations, unjust trial, cruel death, and glorious Resurrection.Over and again, His disciples failed to comprehend the serious nature of Christ's repeated prediction of His fast-approaching betrayal and death, and it became necessary for Jesus to speak plainly about the severe self-discipline His followers would require if they were to stand fast in the evil day and not be sifted as wheat by the enemy, nor emotionally tossed about by the terrible things they were soon to face.A simple, immovable, childlike faith in Christ Who had come as God's anointed King, His promised Messiah, and Kinsman-Redeemer, was essential as the days grew darker: Whoever receives Me, Jesus said, receives Him Who sent Me.Petty differences of colour or creed were to be laid aside, and a unity in the faith was to be established by those who acknowledged Jesus as Lord.

• The unity of the triune Godhead, combines to bestow peace to the brethren, and love with faith.

• We are reminded to live in unity with one another, to live in lowliness of heart, gentleness of spirit, and to endure suffering with patience throughout this earthly life.
• We are also encouraged to bear with one another in love and to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace, knowing that we are one in Christ and united together in one faith, one hope, one baptism, and one Lord.

• We are called into the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, but too often there is strife and acrimony among believers and feuds between Christian workers or groups of believers.

• We are to clothe ourselves in humility before God our Father, and we are to walk in the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace.
• And in this passage, we are given the many elements of unity that are ours in Christ Jesus - our one and only Lord and Saviour.

• After stressing the need for unity, brotherly love, sympathy, and compassion for other people, he urges believers not to repay evil for evil nor to respond to an insult with an equally disparaging remark.

• Should not we, who have been accepted in the beloved and been made children of God, walk in the spirit of unity, one with the other, and show forth His grace within us to others?

• When two people are of the same heart and mind, there is greater potential to stand firm, stay true, resist the enemy, maintain unity of spirit and not fall prey to an alternative philosophy or unwholesome mindset.

• The man or woman who is walking in truth is the one who is not only doctrinally sound... but who is humble of heart, growing in grace, standing fast on the Word, rejoicing in the Lord, and living in love and unity with their brothers in Christ.

• He calls us to be of one mind, to have unity of spirit in the bond of peace, to hold fast together our faith in Christ Jesus and the gospel of grace, and to live in harmony one with the other.

• And that bond of unity is in His Son.

• A day is coming when the Nation of Israel will stand up with the Church of Christ and together with saints of old and those yet to be born, will sing a harmonious chorus, in unity, in spirit and in truth, Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the LORD GOD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.

• Those who are saved by grace, are to resist temptation and to walk in the unity of the Spirit.

• There should be unity in the essentials of our faith, liberty and Christian courtesy surrounding any non-essential doctrinal issues, and godly love and graciousness should be demonstrated in the actions and attitudes we show towards our brothers and sisters in Christ - knowing that God is not a God of confusion but the God of peace.

• Side by side and in unity of spirit these men of Israel worked on their own section, because they shared a common goal.
• It was their failure to follow God's commands and keep their covenant promises that caused Israel to be punished, and so the restoration of the Sheep Gate, on that eastern side of the city, must have played a significant role in raising the morale of the people, helping to keep them on task in maintaining the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
• Like Israel, every member of Christ's Body has our part to play in the perfecting of the saints, for the work of ministering, and the building up of the body of Christ - until we all reach unity in the faith and a deeper knowledge of God’s Son - as together we grow into a mature man, to a measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

• The spiritual unity that prevailed between the Lord Jesus and His Father was so magnificent and pure that He could legitimately claim, I and My Father are one, and, He who has seen Me has seen the Father.

• The unity of the saints was being invaded by treacherous false teachers and infested with destructive and unbiblical doctrine.

• Just as Christ was one with the Father and only did those things that He heard from above, the unity of the Godhead is further displayed when we read of the Spirit: He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to us what is to come.

• Today, by grace, we are 'living stones' being built up into the Body of Christ: Till we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God.

• He will not reform the old 'self' but transform the 'new-life' in Christ from glory to glory, until we all reach unity in the faith and knowledge of His only begotten Son.

• The unity of spirit, soul, and body that Christ (in His humanity) had with His Father in heaven, is His prayer for each of His children too.

• Their mutual faith in Christ formed so close a bond that it drew them together in the unity of the spirit and for love of their Saviour.
• May we take the responsibilities that God has given us seriously and seek to be bond-servants of Christ, who walk in the unity of the Spirit and in the truth of God's Word.

• He wanted them to grow in grace, walk in spirit and truth, mature in the faith, love as Christ loved, live in unity with one another, and rejoice in the Lord always.

• There are, of course, certain non-negotiables in Christian doctrine and our walk of faith, such as the deity of Christ and the virgin birth, His incarnation and bodily resurrection, the authority and inerrancy of Scripture, the Tri-unity of the Godhead, the hypostatic union of Christ and His Second Coming, but there are broad Scriptural principles in God's Word that guide us in our daily decisions and personal conduct.

• Both God the Father and God the Spirit turned their back on God the Son, as he bore the sin of the world upon His sinless shoulders, and the unity that the Three had enjoyed for an eternity was shattered for the first time, as the Father and the Spirit together poured out the fullness of their wrath upon the Son.

• It is here in the early verses of chapter 4, that Paul makes an appeal for Christian harmony and the fellowship of all believers, as well as outlining the primary elements of unity in the Sprit which underpins the Christian faith in this 'dispensation of the grace of God'.
• In order to be worthy of our calling, we are to walk in humility of heart and gentleness of spirit, showing tolerance to one another and godly patience - as we walk in love, bear one another's burdens, and strive to preserve in the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace.
• Paul goes on to list seven key elements of Christian unity in the verses 4 to 6, where we read There is ONE body and ONE Spirit, just as also you were called in ONE hope of your calling; ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

• Paul calls us to spirituality, unity, and maturity, while warning against worldliness, instability, and gullibility.

• Although the benefits of intimacy with another person outweigh the disadvantages of isolation, this is a truth that is particularly pertinent in Christian circles, where we are called to live with one another in the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
• May we work together for the furtherance of the gospel and work the works of God in the unity of the Spirit, while it is still day.

• In essential doctrine let there be unity.

• They engaged in ungodly division instead of living in the unity of the Spirit.

• The triune God made man as a triune being, with body, soul, and spirit, and it is this very tri-unity of being that is unique among creation.

• The Son was in continuous and perfect unity with the Father, such that He carried out the will of the Father without fail.

• An attitude of tranquillity should be part of a normal Christian life, for we receive peace with God when we are justified by faith in Christ's finished work on Calvary, and we have ongoing access to the peace of God when we remain in fellowship with Him - in purity of heart - in the unity of the spirit.
• As we live in a world that longs for peace and yet denies the Prince of peace Who alone brings unity to this troubled place, may we rejoice in God our Saviour and display a gentle spirit in all we say and do.

• Paul knew how important it is, in Christian circles, to live together in the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace so that the cause of the gospel is not discredited before an unbelieving world.

• Having spent three glorious chapters outlining who we are in Christ, Paul turns His attention to grounds for unity within the Church.

• And throughout His life, the Lord Jesus sought to demonstrate that He and the Father were ONE - one in nature - one in Spirit - one in unity with each other - one God in three Persons.
• One in their eternal goodness, one in their eternal attributes, one in their eternal unity, one in their indescribable love.
• Just as Christ's life witnessed of His oneness and unity with the Father, so His prayer for you and me is that our lives are to be one with Him and in unity with each other so that the world may know that You sent Me and that You have loved them as you loved Me.

• He is unique and there is no other God beside Him, but the unmistakable doctrine of the Trinity has its stamp of authority throughout the entire Word of God and the 'Shema' which the Lord Jesus referenced to the young Jewish ruler, only serves to endorse the monotheistic doctrine of the Triune Godhead - for the Lord our God is ONE Lord - unique from all the false gods of the pagan nations for He is the One Creator and the only wise Saviour Who is One in unity, One in purpose, One in thought, and word and deed.

• As believers, we are called to live in unity with one another, but all too often people can deliberately or unintentionally quench our joy, causing our mind to spin out of control and our spirits to become discouraged, and so we are called to let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly and to let Him guard our hearts.
• It is hard enough when the criticism and contention comes from the outside world, but when the unity of brothers and sisters in Christ is broken through false teachings or disagreements within the Body, the pain is so much greater.
• Paul was keen to identify and address disunity within the Body of Christ at Philippi, for he knew that the favour, fragrance, and joy that percolates from Christian unity can evaporate when unrest and contentions are allowed to fester.
• 'Unity' of the Body however should not be confused with 'uniformity'.
• Spiritual unity is from the heart.
• The joy of the Lord is indeed our strength, and we are called to rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all things, and live in godly unity with one another.
• Let us seek to live in total dependence on our Heavenly Father and in godly unity with our brothers in Christ, and let us pay heed to Paul's earnest entreaty: Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, so that our words, deeds, actions, and attitudes may be a true reflection of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

• We are to be watchful in prayer, live in the unity of the Spirit, and have a fervent love for all our brothers and sisters in Christ.

• As Paul draws his second, lengthy epistle to the Corinthian Christians to a close, he reiterates his earlier exhortations to seek after unity within the Body of Christ, to be of good comfort to one another, and to remain encouraged in the truth of the glorious gospel of God.

• It is the tri-unity of the Godhead that is being called upon to bless us in this verse.
• It is through the unity of the Trinity that we are presented with the many precious promises of our salvation, our sanctification, our glorification, and an eternal heritage that is kept for us in heaven. It is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, together as One Who illuminates our hearts and leads us in the way of righteousness and peace.

• At first, he makes an appeal for Christian unity in every sphere of life and urges each of us to walk worthy of our calling.
• We should be long suffering and make allowances for the faults and failures of others and we should endeavour to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

• May we so walk in the unity of the Spirit, that we use our gifts with wisdom, and demonstrate spiritual maturity that glorifies God.

• We are to walk in unity of spirit and humility of heart... with gentleness and patience.
• We are to endeavour to pursue the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace, and are reminded that as God's children, we have received grace according to the measure of Christ's gifts to each one of us, and are encouraged to use each spiritual gift appropriately.

• Another problem is internal division which endangers the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace and love between believers.

• He was a man who walked according to God's will and God's purpose - for as we read in Amos, Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Walking together in the unity of the spirit implies deep friendship and love - a special and intimate relationship, where ongoing communion is maintained.

• The unity of the saints and the oneness of the Body of Christ were essential elements of Paul's teaching, and so he encouraged Timothy to be a good and faithful servant; approved of God in the day of trouble.

• This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and a knowledge of God's Son, that we will become mature in the Lord and measure up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

• Although much of Paul's ministry was independent from the other apostles of Christ, there was always a fundamental unity between them, and his visit to the Holy City and attendance at the Jerusalem Council, demonstrates the importance of Christian unity through doctrinal purity.

• We are to make allowances for each other's short-comings and are encouraged to be diligent to maintain the unity of the Spirit, in the beautiful bond of His heavenly peace.

• And Christ's prayer for you and for me, and for all who have believed through the word of those early apostles, was for a unity in the spirit.

• Despite being incarcerated in a Roman prison, Paul penned this epistle to the Philippians... demonstrating a holy joy in the Lord and mandating the need for Christians to hold fast to the faith and to keep the unity of the Spirit - in the bond of peace.

• Prayer is the Christian's lifeline to the Lord, without which it is impossible to live in the light of His love and in unity with one another.

• The baptism of the Lord Jesus is a beautiful picture of the Trinity working in harmony, and this verse is a glorious illustration of the Godhead meeting in unity.
• And as the time of His preparation for His most significant yet solemn ministry was ending, we see the Trinity working in harmony, the Godhead meeting in unity. 

• It is not until we all reach unity in the faith, in the knowledge of the Son of God, (either through our physical death or the Rapture of the Church) that we will finally attain to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ, and our sanctification will, at last, be complete.Every one of us that trusts in the Lord for salvation is already sanctified.

• This man of God knew that when the desires of our heart are in harmony with God's plans and purposes, we are living in the unity of the Spirit and walking in accord with His perfect will.

• It talks of the glory and grace we have through the indwelling Spirit of God, and the wisdom and power that comes from our Father in heaven - and it encourages us to endeavour to keep the unity of the Body - for which we should seek after and strive for in the power of the Holy Spirit.

• By confessing the Lord is ONE with the plural word 'ELOHIM', the nation of Israel has for many centuries unwittingly delivered a shaded confession to the unity of the Trinity - the oneness of the Godhead - the uniqueness of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - the tri-unity of the YHWH, Creator of heaven and earth Who alone is to be worshipped and glorified for ever and ever, amen.

• But although we are called to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, and long-suffering, where gracious consideration and genuine forgiveness of others are identified as vital qualities of the believer, it is love ruling the heart and peace protecting the soul that is given the main emphasis here: But above ALL, put on love which binds these things together the unity of the Spirit, and let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.
• And the inflow of God's love into the life of a spiritual believer is transferred into an outflow of that love to others in a bond of unity and peace, and such is manifested in life who is walking in spirit and truth.

• May the peace of the Lord be with us all, now and forever, and may the perfect peace of God rule in our hearts, in the unity of the Spirit.

• A unique relationship and unbreakable unity existed within the eternal Godhead before the uncreated God spoke the created universe into being, and formed man from the dust of the earth in His own image and likeness.
• Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work together in perfect union and thrilling harmony, with each other as Members of this eternal, uncreated Tri-Unity.
• Similarly, God can never be classed as one unity, as unitarianists teach, where the Father is the Son, Who in turn is the Spirit,  nor is God one 'Person' with three different roles, or faces.
• In the absolute and unique unity of the Godhead, before the foundation of the world and all that was created - is the WORD, Who is identified from all eternity as the only One Who is qualified to become incarnate flesh - Immanuel - God with us - perfect God made fully Man - fully God and perfect Man - the eternal Son Who became the living Word - God the Son, Who was born as the Son of Man.

• But God in His goodness and grace, gave us ways and means to discover much about Who He is: His character; His Tri-unity; His Person; His ultimate plans; and His wonderful purposes for the redemption of mankind.

• Throughout his writings, the apostle Paul emphasises the importance of Christians living together in spiritual unity and godly harmony.
• Paul knew that his joy would be complete if all who had received his instructions were to live their lives as outlined in so many of his epistles, in spiritual unity and godly harmony.
• IF any affection and compassion from our Father (and there is), then we are exhorted to live in spiritual unity and godly harmony with one another.
• Paul emphasises the importance of Christians living together in spiritual unity and godly harmony, and of the eternal benefits that we derive from our salvation by grace through faith in Christ.

• He created Adam and his wife as ONE being, one unity, one person, one life, united in spirit, bonded in soul, and becoming one in body.

• Just as God the Father and God the Son work together in unbroken harmony and perfect love, to fulfil their unique functions within the Tri-unity of the Godhead, so also God the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, works the work of God in flawless synergy with Father and Son, as each fulfil their respective roles and co-authored responsibilities.

• Father and Son worked together in perfect harmony, in the unity of the Spirit, in the body of peace.

• Keep them rooted and grounded to Your name-the name which You have given Me, so that they may be one, even as We are one, united together in godly love, unified in the unity of the Spirit.

• When the roles and responsibilities within a church are correctly implemented and function biblically, the quiet, submissive spirit of godly women is seen to complement the leadership role of the men and helps to unite the Body of Christ in the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

• We are to be faultless, entire, wanting nothing, and we are to be joined together as one in understanding with the mind of Christ - in the unity of the Spirit.

• Both the extended greetings at the beginning of Paul's many epistles and the lengthy farewells at the end, give us a wealth of information on God plans and purposes for His Church and teach us much on living the Christian life, in the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace.
• As Paul starts to draw his Philippian letter to a conclusion, he implores certain of the sisters there to be of the same mind and to live in unity of spirit, one with the other.

• There is a beautiful and intimate unity between the Father and the Son, and in the same way there is to be a deep and cherished closeness between the unique Son of God... and the many sons that He brings to glory.
• The intimate unity and beautiful relationship between God the Father and God the Son has been extended to us, by grace through faith.

• In his letter to the Philippians, Paul addresses certain undercurrents of disunity, by exhorting Christians to live in the unity of spirit; to adopt an attitude of gracious consideration towards one another; to be like-minded, selfless, sacrificial, and to demonstrate brotherly affection towards each other.
• Let us seek to live in the unity of spirit and to display Christ-like consideration towards one another, through self-sacrificial service and gracious brotherly affection.

• But as soon as we hit chapter 4, the apostle starts to lay out the practical behaviour that God expects from all His blood-bought children, by calling for Christian unity and detailing ways that all members of Christ's Body should behave in this fallen world system which is under the power of the evil one.

• Jesus prayed for unity in His Body while Paul told us: Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
• Peter encouraged us to maintain unity of mind, empathy one with another, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind, while John said simply: Little children, love one another.
• Unity of spirit does not mean a compromised uniformity or a watered down gospel.

• The beautiful unity and cherished communion that we discover existing between the Father and the Son, cannot be better conveyed than through this simple sentence in this most magnificent of all prayers in John 17: All things that are Mine are Yours, and all that are Yours are Mine.

• Philippians follows this general outline, with an exhortation towards humility of heart, unity in the Body, and the need to be Christlike.

• They deceive the heart of young, inexperienced believers, who love the Lord, by weaving error in with the truth, and they disrupt the unity of the spirit and the bond of peace, within the Body of Christ.

• Sins are forgiven, we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, fellowship with the Father is reinstated, we become children of God, citizens of heaven, and placed in unity with Christ Jesus our Lord.

• Like them, we not only live in a world that is increasingly hostile towards Christ and His people, but we are directed to work together, in unity.

• Divisions, strife, contentions, and splits within the Body had shattered their unity in the Lord Jesus.

• In Christ, we have become partakers of a heavenly calling and are to be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, for He has given us the Holy Spirit of life and truth, and we worship One God and Father of all Who is over all and through all and in us all.

• He urges us to practice unity in the Spirit, holy living in the flesh, and purity of heart, soul, and mind.

• We must decrease so that it is Christ's beautiful Spirit of unity in the faith that leads us and guides us as we come together in His name - for prayer and petitions, conversation and communion, for a simple communal meal or a meeting of fellowship and fun, for where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there among them.

• May we look to Jesus and be quick to keep Christ alone as the central focus of our life. May we be diligent to preserve in the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace within the church meetings and fellowships we attend, and may we be diligent to stand firm on the truth of the glorious gospel of grace for His greater praise.

• Paul knew that unity in the Body of Christ can be threatened from without and destroyed from within.
• Christ earnestly prayed for unity (note: not uniformity) before He died: That they may be one...
• Paul calls us all to be like-minded, having unity in the spirit and the love of Christ in our hearts, being of one accord, encouraging the saints, and demonstrating tender-compassion in humility of heart towards one another.
• But mercy, truth, and unity, only comes when we have the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Spirit flowing through our inner beings, for it is only as we are yielded to the Holy Spirit, that He is enabled to conform us into the likeness of Christ.
• If we, as children of God, have received His goodness and grace, comfort and hope, we are to maintain the same goodness, grace, comfort, and love, and be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the body of peace.
• Let us be diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, with all our brothers and sisters in Christ.

• It is they who embody the unity of the spirit - where there is one body of believers and one Holy Spirit of God Who indwells each one.
• It is those who mirror the Christ-like character of our Lord Jesus in their everyday living and who bear each other's burdens in godly love, that are bound together in the unity of the Spirit - in the bond of peace.
• Paul was not unaware of the petty squabbles and unnecessary disagreements that permeated the different churches in his care, but he was also quick to condemn such disunity in the Body of Christ and stressed the importance of Christian unity - where any differences of race, colour, nationality, culture, language, gender, and status, are brushed aside in love.
• He was certainly zealous in stressing the importance of keeping the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace - where by grace through faith in Christ, we are ONE Body and ONE Spirit... with ONE hope, ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism into the Body of Christ - and ONE God and Father, Who is above all, through all, and in us all.

• May we, who have been counted worthy by faith in Christ, stand firm in one spirit, with one mind, as we strive together in the unity of the faith, for the hope that is ours in the gospel of Christ.

• Let us recognise the importance of living in unity with those in our lives, but especially with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

• Those who believed in Him were to be joined to HIM in the unity of the Spirit.

• Although they may deceive some genuine Christians, these people have no unity with the Body and their exit from our company identifies their hidden agenda.
• Walking in the unity of the faith, being led by the Spirit, standing firm on the Word of God, holding fast to the glorious gospel of Christ, persevering under trials, and carrying out the good works that God has prepared for us to do, should be the normal way Christians live.

• Another important behaviour that the Philippians were encouraged to develop and maintain, was the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, and to single-mindedly stand firm in the faith of the gospel of Christ, in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel.
• As members of the Body of Christ and citizens of heaven, we should confidently walk the earth in unity of the spirit, and consistently stand firm in the faith that was once offered to the saints - with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith of the gospel and in so doing glorifying our Father Who is in heaven.

• Their close, brotherly relationship, their singular passion for the gospel of grace, their fervent intercessions for their brothers and sisters in Christ, and their deep love of the brotherhood of the saints, appear to be areas that united Paul and Epaphras in their individual ministries, and bonded them together in a spirit of love - in the unity of the faith and in the bond of peace.

• Having detailed our unity in the Spirit, our union with Christ, and the unsearchable riches of God that have been freely bestowed on us by grace, Paul contrasts the corrupt lives of unregenerate man with the normal Christian walk, which should exhibit the tenderness, forgiveness, and grace that we see in the character of God and the life of Christ.

• In essential doctrine, may there be unity.

• We are now called to walk worthy of our calling, in humility of heart, unity of spirit, and as children of the light.

• We have a positive responsibility to obey His Word and apply it in our everyday life, for when we walk in the unity of the Spirit and live in holiness of heart, we mature in the faith, grow in grace, and produce the fruit of humility, patience, gentleness, and love.

• And despite his imprisonment in a Roman jail, it was with the joy of the Lord that Paul was able to write his letter of encouragement to his brothers and sisters in Philippi, exhorting them to unity, humility and continued sacrificial service to the Lord.
• And although part of his letter was used to encourage these saints to set aside all self-interest and selfish ambitions and to be bonded together in the unity of the faith, he gives great encouragement by describing their work of faith as a precious, sacrificial service to the Lord.

• And just before His death, Jesus also revealed to His disciples: I and the Father are one, one in unity, and one in Spirit.
• The precious bond of unity between Father and Son is close, personal, intimate, and unique.

• The topic of brothers living together in unity was part of Christ's High Priestly prayer, just before His walk to Calvary.
• Paul continues this theme of unity: Be of the same mind toward one with another, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, and intent on one purpose, and one Person.
• We too are on our own march towards our heavenly home, but every step we make toward that day when the Lord takes us to be with Himself, should be a day when we live together with our brothers and sisters in Christ in gracious harmony and godly unity.
• Unity does not imply uniformity.
• In all our dealings there should be a godly spirit of unity and love.

• And He prayed for our unity in the Spirit.
• Unity in the body of Christ does not demand institutional unification, which is the seed-bed for a profusion of doctrinal heresies and false teachings.
• Unity in the Body is the Spirit of Christ's love within.
• He prayed that our lives would be so in tune with one another that we would reflect the godly perfection and intimacy that exemplifies the relationship between the Father and the Son, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. May Christ's beautiful High Priestly prayer for the unity of believers, be answered in my life - to His greater praise and eternal glory.

• And so, Paul reiterated the importance and responsibility of every individual believer to live and work together, by maintaining unity within the Church - for collectively we are all Christ's Body while being individual members of it.
• Each has been spiritually equipped to carry out the work that God has prepared for them to do, so that together with the rest of the Body of Christ, they will individually and collectively grow in grace and walk in the unity of the Spirit.
• How important that the genuine unity of the Body is maintained, while at the same time recognising that we are a diverse group of redeemed individuals that consist of Jews and Gentiles, male and female, young and old, black and white, slave and free.

• The collective worship of believers around the broken bread and communion cup is an expression of communal Christian unity and oneness in the Body of Christ.

• Topics in James relate to unity in the Body of Christ as well as faith, wisdom, conflict, justice, and prayer.

• In the beginning there was nothing but God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit inhabiting eternity in a tri-unity of love.

• We are to be filled with the Spirit, to walk in spirit and truth, to live in unity with all the saints of God, and provide mutual encouragement to one another.
• We are to mature in the faith and walk in the unity of the Spirit.
• Walking in unity of the faith and in the light of His truth is pleasing to God, for we are abiding in Christ and He in us.

• Wrangling and strife among Christian brethren and internal bickering is at variance to the gospel of grace and destroys the unity of the Spirit.
• Conflict between believers was a deep concern that Paul challenged unrelentingly in a number of his epistles, because once murmuring, bickering, squabbling, and disunity, is allowed to percolate, the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace is destroyed, and contrary to the teaching of the Word.

• They were to live together in perfect unity and become one flesh.

• The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak - but those that utterly depend on God, abide in Christ and pray in unity with the Holy Spirit are given the strength to overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil - for Christ not only paid the price for our sin but broke the POWER of sin in the lives of all who believe, in this Christian dispensation.

• Maintaining communion and unity of the spirit seems to be a beacon of light that illuminates the pages of this letter, lighting up our path through the ever-deepening deceptions of this last hour in which we live and helping each one of us to discern what is of the Lord and that which comes from the evil one.

• He discusses the unity of the saints and the importance of thinking of others as better than ourselves.
• He outlines a most beautiful description of unity within the Church, There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, Who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
• Gifts of leadership are given to pastors, teachers, prophets, and evangelists, so that the saints are built up in the faith until we all live in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God - until we all come to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
• All gifts and graces should be used to help us grow together in the unity of the Body and to build one another up in the faith.

• The gospel of the grace of God, where Christ was sent from heaven to become our Kinsman-Redeemer and the sin-substitute for mankind, is the adhesive that binds believers together in the perfect bond of unity, and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

• May we all come together in the unity in our faith, through a knowledge of God's Son.

• The Tri-unity of the Godhead is glimpsed throughout this first, foundational chapter, as God said let Us make man in Our own image, and yet the singularity of the One and only God of heaven and earth is captured, for we read that God saw all that He had made-and indeed it was very good.

• We are still to be an expectant people as we watch and wait in unity of heart for the any day return of Christ in the clouds for His Church.
• And although the enemy will continue to interfere with the unity of the spirit and disrupt our bond of peace... with divisive doctrines and critical attitudes, the Lord's High Priestly prayer, that they may be One, still remains true today.
• Let us in our various circumstances, whether we are physically isolated from other believers or not, revive in our hearts that spirit of undivided-unity and persistent-prayer.

• Should we not consider our ways to see if we are walking in spirit and truth and living in unity with one another as God requires?

• Love is reflected in unity, just as envy and strife are the opposite sides of the same coin.
• The power of the Holy Spirit can be manifest in the life of all believers whose heart reflects the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace, rather than permitting envy, strife, jealousy, or contentions to influence our behaviour.
• When a man or ministry is founded on godly principles that lifts up the Lord Jesus Christ, and when earnest prayer, that reflects the love of God in the unity of the Spirit is offered, Christ will be magnified and the gospel will be preached.

• They earnestly desire their preferred gift for self-edification and miss the whole point of Paul's teaching on the unity of the Spirit being manifested through the diversity of gifts in the universal Church.

• However, the process of sanctification will not cease: Until we all come to the harmonious state of Christian unity, spiritual maturity, and Christlike conformity - when we see Him as He is.
• Attaining the unity of the saints and a knowledge of the Son of God will never be fully realised while we are still living on this earth in our sinful state... for our old, sin-nature lusts against the new Christ-like nature we received at rebirth.
• The fleshly restriction we all encounter, should not prevent us from seeking to attain to the unity of the faith or from coming to a deeper knowledge of Christ.
• Unity in the faith and the bond of peace will only truly happen once the completed Church has been taken to be with the Lord.
• And let us strive to build each other up in our most holy faith, with an ever-increasing knowledge of the holy - until we all come to the unity of the faith and a knowledge of the Son of God - until we are all perfected to a measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

• The Lord Jesus lived in total unity of Spirit with the Father and confessed many times that He, only carries out the will of the Father. He explained that although He is living His life under the authority and direction of the Father, He still retains His Deity.

• He adds that the ultimate goal is to bring all believers into the unity of the faith and a knowledge of the Son of God so that the Body of Christ becomes spiritually mature as we are daily being conformed into a measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ until He is all in all.
• Although much of the Church has fallen into gross apostasy, let us seek to use our own spiritual gifts as instructed by Paul, to develop unity in the faith, to increase in a knowledge of the Son of God, and to bring all believers into spiritual maturity.

• She was to be all that Adam lacked in his loneliness, and together they would become one flesh and live together in loving unity.

• This section of Paul's letter begins by explaining the responsibility we have as Christians, to walk in a manner that is worthy of our calling, and to live together in unity of spirit, with all humility, gentleness, patience, and loving tolerance towards one another.
• Having stressed the importance of unity in the body he writes He gave some to be apostles, and some prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers - for the equipping of the saints for the work of service and to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.  The first two spiritual gifts were most important in the early church, before the New Testament Scriptures were written, while the others are important in sharing the common truth of the gospel.

• Much as we gravitate towards teachings about humility and reconciliation, brotherly love, Christian unity, and God's 'golden rule', we are all fallen creatures and too often Christians whiplash their souls through petty arguments, unnecessary contentions, bitterness of spirit, or an attitude of self-righteous pride.
• How important, also, to recognise the wisdom of maintaining the unity in the spirit in the bond of peace and preserving harmony in the Body of Christ.
• It was some years later in his letter to the Ephesians that Paul wrote, Endeavour to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

• By faith, we have been made alive in Christ and should endeavour to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

• Be humble and gentle, patient and tolerant with each other, he exhorts us: Make every effort to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, and do everything in love, for the sake of Jesus.
• Having presented the godly Christian conduct we should all embrace daily, our unity in the Spirit, and the love we should have for one another, he points out our position in Christ: We are one body and one Spirit.
