• In bygone days, the head or the feet of honoured visitors and important guests were often anointed by their host with a beautiful ointment or a sweet-smelling fragrance. This was not only done as a mark of respect to their guests, but it served to refresh their soul and gladden their heart.
• Solomon no doubt recalled the intimate friendship and trusted counsel that existed between his father, David, and Jonathan, and in the New Testament, perhaps there is no great example of the veracity of this verse than Mary of Bethany who so lovingly anointed the feet of her most trusted friend and Saviour.

• In the Scriptures, the oil of gladness and incense of joy, are so often seen as the adornment of the man or woman that loves righteousness and hates wickedness, while the perfumer's ointment and sacred anointing incense is frequently seen in Scripture, ascending up to the Lord as a good and acceptable freewill offering, a love offering, a burnt sacrifice and sweet-smelling savour that is so pleasing in the sight of the Lord. 

• The Sovereign Lord does nothing without first revealing His plan to His servants, the prophets, and Ezekiel was one such servant through whom the Lord spoke to His people, Israel, and disclosed many wonderful and many terrible things.Although this man of God warned of the judgement to come, there is much in this book that emphases the sovereign authority of the Lord, which gives encouragement and comfort to his people, Israel.Although the book of Ezekiel trumpets the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Sanctuary, it also proclaims the great and awesome glory of the Lord and describes, in detail, the future Millennial Temple under the administration of God's anointed King.One aspect of Ezekiel's ministry was that some of his prophetic announcements were to be articulated through drama or mime.

• Perhaps Cush was a relative of Saul who relentlessly sought to slay David because of his evil jealousy of God's anointed.

• He honours me by anointing my head with oil and my cup overflows with multiplied blessings.

• He was born as Scripture foretold, and was anointed by the Holy Spirit at His baptism.

• And he was further instructed to give this anointed Son of God the name of Jesus, which is the name above all names.

• Luke explains that even the women who had come with Him out of Galilee, followed and saw the tomb, and how His body was placed.But strict Sabbath Day regulations prevented these heart-broken, Jewish women from visiting the tomb the following day, which was a Sabbath and so from Friday, through Saturday, and into Sunday, the stone-cold body of the Lord Jesus Christ lay in silence – and alone - in the borrowed tomb of a wealthy man.No doubt copious tears were shed and many hearts bitterly grieved, as these loyal ladies fulfilled the requirements of the Sabbath Day – for we read that they rested on the Sabbath, according to the commandment.No doubt, they started preparing spices and perfumes to anoint His body, throughout that evening and into the night-time once the Sabbath was over.
• The sacred tribute, mingled with their tears, would be to anoint the body of Christ with myrrh and other spices as early as possible the following morning.They knew exactly where to go, and we read that many women set out to visit the tomb early on that first day of the week.

• He was called out of Egypt, anointed by the Holy Spirit, and Daniel even proclaimed the exact time of His appearance.

• This was strictly against the Law of Moses - for only God's anointed priests were permitted to sacrifice to the Lord - on behalf of the people and their king.

• They were divinely guided and followed a star that rose in the east – which would lead them to Jesus.Some suggest that they were descendants of wise men who had been taught, by Daniel the prophet, that 490 years would pass from the issuing of the decree to rebuild the city of Jerusalem and the House of God, until the coming of Messiah, the Prince, the anointed King of Israel.
• He was the One Who was anointed by God to be the King of kings and the Lord of lords, Who alone is worthy of worship and praise.Then, opening their treasures, these great sages from the east presented Him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

• He alone could proclaim: The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those that are bruised and to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour.

• Although God formerly spoke through these great men of faith, Jesus Christ was the Word made flesh. He was God's anointed Ruler and consecrated Spokesperson.

• Unlike earthly rulers, who rise to power but are set low by God's sovereign authority, the King of glory, Who is strong and mighty to save, is God's Anointed King and prophesied Messiah.

• John identified Jesus as the anointed Messiah, equal with the Father.
• The Man on Whom he saw the Spirit of God descending and remaining, would be the Lord's anointed, and when the Spirit of God descended and rested on Christ at His baptism, John began to boldly testify that JESUS is the Son of the living God.

• He also pronounced seven shocking 'woes' against these pious, hypocritical, religious leaders, who had spurned God's anointed Messiah and rejected His offer of salvation.
• Early in His ministry, the Lord Jesus had presented Himself to Israel as God's Anointed Messiah Who had come to redeem His people from their sin.
• He had been anointed by God to tell the good news to the poor, to announce freedom to the prisoners, to give sight to the blind, and set oppressed people free.

• They were being called to remove everything in their lives that hindered their walk with the Lord, and accept the King Whom God had anointed to rule over them – they were to repent of their sins.
• But the day is coming when all Israel will be saved – just before the Millenium begins, at the end of the coming Great Tribulation, they will repent as a nation.The day IS coming when Israel will finally recognise Christ as God's anointed King and will rejoice to see the rescheduled day of their second visitation.

• God has selected you and me out of all the people groups of the world for a very special reason, and we have been anointed with the oil of gladness to serve as His representatives on earth.

• When Samuel had anointed Saul as king, it was his tall stature and good looks that caught the prophet's attention, and yet Saul turned out to be a real disappointment to Samuel, for his heart was not pure before the Lord.
• Later, when this messenger of God came to anoint one of the sons of Jesse as God's chosen king, we discover that once again Samuel was judging the quality of the Israel's future king by his outward appearance, and not by the inner attitude and motive of his heart.

• He will give strength to His King and will exalt the horn of His Anointed.

• This psalm details some of the trials David faced as God's anointed.

• Today this sovereign God is high and lifted up and sits upon His throne in glory while the nations rage and plot their evil plans against the LORD and against His anointed Son.

• However, despite a seditious military coup instigated by his older brother which was designed to secure the crown for himself, Solomon was anointed as his father's successor and king of Israel by Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet.
• Solomon was proclaimed to be God's anointed ruler.

• He came as God's anointed King Who is greater than David.

• In the first few chapters of his Gospel, Matthew introduces the reader to Jesus as God's anointed King.

• Christ was indeed uniquely qualified to proclaim: The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me, to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners.

• He had been identified as 'My beloved Son' by His Father in heaven and anointed by Mary of Bethany for His burial, when she broke open the alabaster box of precious ointment and poured it on His feet.

• David was anointed, by Samuel, to be Israel's king while still a youth.

• Jesus had sent His twelve apostles out with a special commission to preach repentance to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, and had given them apostolic authority and divine ability to: Drive out many demons, anoint many sick people with oil, and heal them.

• But Israel had become apostate over the years, and although God always had a remnant who trusted His Word and believed Him to be the anointed Messiah, it was national repentance from the entire nation that the Lord required.
• And although a remnant of Israel confessed Jesus as Lord and acknowledged Him as the Messiah and Son of God, their promised kingdom was postponed and their anointed King returned to heaven – until the entire nation of Israel will cry out to Him for salvation (at the Second Coming of Christ).

• Such a man is not influenced by the mindset of worldly men who live in defiant rebellion against God and hold His anointed Son in contempt.

• He came as the second Adam, the perfect Man, the rightful Heir, and God's Anointed.

• He was God's anointed Son Who was to proclaim His Sovereign authority over heaven and earth and His rightful place on the everlasting throne of David.

• Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
• Others use this verse to introduce the unbiblical 8th century practice of 'extreme unction' which is the unscriptural, Catholic sacrament of anointing the sick when dying, and still others insist that anointing oil is simply a reference to good medical attention.
• The anointing of a sick body was indeed a medical practice during the times of Christ, and God often combines natural medication with supernatural healing, but James clearly is identifying i) illness, and ii) anointing with oil in verse 14 with a) illness and b) the prayer of faith in verse 15.
• It also takes an act of faith for the elders of a church to collectively gather to pray for the healing for a sick member of their congregation, and to anoint that person's body with oil, while praying collectively, in faith, for their healing.

• The purchase price for mankind had been fully and finally met and its effects must have rocked the foundations of hell and caused a heavenly choir of angelic voices to explode into jubilant praise.Jesus came to fulfil both the Law and the prophets, and to announce Himself as God's anointed King and firstborn Son.

• Atonement means 'covering', and animal sacrifices for sin meant sin could be covered until God sent His anointed Messiah Who would come to save His people from their sin and forgive them their iniquity; both the sin nature imputed from Adam, and personal sins.

• Although Jesus is God's anointed King Who will one day rule and reign over all the earth, Christ's kingdom is not of this unrighteous world system, which must first be destroyed before He returns to rule and reign in righteousness, together with those who have trusted Him as Saviour.

• He was called to prepare the way of the Lord and pronounce the arrival of Israel's long-awaited, promised Messiah. John was sent from God as a witness to testify that Jesus was God's anointed King, the Word made flesh, the Light of the world.

• On that day, He will rule the nations with a rod of iron as God has promised, for Christ is the Lord's Anointed; He is the triumphant Messiah of Israel; He is the eternal Son of most high God and the perfect Son of Man.
• The nations of the earth may conspire against the Lord and against His Anointed.

• When He came to earth so many years ago, the Lord Jesus came to finish the transgression to make an end of sin, and to make atonement for iniquity through His sacrificial death so that He could bring in everlasting righteousness, seal up vision and prophecy, and anoint the most holy place.

• In Luke, the Lord Jesus is acknowledged as the Christ of God, while John's Gospel records Peter as saying: We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God. Matthew expands Mark's brief proclamation to read: You are the Christ, the Son of the living God, but this sacred declaration, when Jesus' disciples recognised and confessed Him as God's anointed Saviour, seems to be a pivotal point in each of the four Gospels.
• Jesus was the anointed Messiah-King of Israel Whose coming had been prophesied throughout Old Testament Scripture, but He had not come to set up His Messianic Kingdom at that time. First, He had to subdue all principalities and powers in the heavenly realm, and to offer Himself up as the ransom price for the sin of the whole world, before He could usher in the kingdom of heaven on earth.

• It identified the Man, Christ Jesus as God's anointed King and His appointed Judge.

• He was the One rejected by Israel's leadership, HE is the One anointed of God as the Rock of our Salvation, and HE is The Stone which the builders rejected Who has become the Chief Cornerstone.

• He is God's anointed King and great High Priest Who was sent according to the order of Melchizedek (King of Peace and High Priest of the Lord).

• He identified Jesus as the Anointed of God, about Whom the prophets spoke.

• It happened after Mary had anointed Christ's feet with oil in preparation for His fast approaching sacrificial death, and it happened after Jesus made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey in fulfilment of prophecy as the crowds who followed Him cheered.

• Through Him God promised: To finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place.

• Daniel was an old man when he prayed and confessed before the Lord, but his beautiful prayer and the prophetic answer that he received from God would impact millions of men and women down through centuries of time who have been brought to an understanding of the 70-weeks of Daniel, which were determined for Israel and Jerusalem: To finish transgression, to make an end of sin, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most High.

• And so, like Aaron before Him, He was to be washed with water before being anointed with oil as was befitting the role of God's Royal High Priest, after the order of Melchisedek.

• Jesus is the anointed of God, and it was to Jesus that the Father directed our attention when His voice thundered on the holy mount, This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased, Hear HIM – listen to HIM - look to Him.

• Israel’s Sabbath was to remind them of a future sanctified day when God's anointed Messiah would right all wrongs and set up His eternal kingdom on earth.

• David was such a man who had been anointed by Samuel the prophet, to be Israel's future king.
• He lamented that his enemies arrogantly fought against him, despite being the Lord's anointed.

• The reason that John's Gospel was written was to authenticate the claim that Jesus was that anointed Son of God and Saviour of the world, and that all who believe on His name would not perish but have everlasting life.

• Knowing that Christ, the Messiah and anointed King of Israel was soon to be rejected by His people, had already been labelled as a blasphemer by Israel's leaders, and was soon to be handed over to the Gentiles to be crucified, it appears that God refused to recognise the Passover as 'a feast of the Lord'. God knows the end before the beginning and knew that the people would reject and crucify His dearly beloved Son, and had already rendered the deep significance of the Passover into a required religious ritual.

• Despite being Israel's anointed king, David had many enemies and was often in great danger.
• He also knew he was a child of God and the Lord's anointed king, and so David expressed his need for divine intervention.

• Paul made it clear that there are no superior saints, super-apostles, or a special class of Christians, as his accusers claimed, and reinforced the gospel message he preached by saying: Now He Who establishes us with you in Christ and Who anointed us ALL is God.

• Mary Magdalene had come early in the morning to anoint the dead body of Jesus with spices, and finding that the stone was rolled away, immediately ran to tell the disciples.

• There are many hidden truths that were revealed to Paul by the Lord Jesus which had been concealed for ages and generations, but which have been revealed to us through the anointed ministry of Christ's appointed apostle.

• He used the phrase: Day of the Lord, seven times in his writings and paints a dark and gloomy picture of a time when God's wrath will be poured out on a God-hating sinful world that has rejected His anointed Messiah, refused His offer of salvation, and defiantly celebrates sin.

• He was chosen by God to succeed his father, king David, as Israel's anointed king, and when faced with the great responsibility of leading the nation, he humbly confessed that he was unable to do so without help from the Lord.

• Christ was anointed of God put sin away forever, and He alone was qualified to do so.

• God sent a message of hope to Israel despite their persistent unbelief and blasphemous idolatry: The Lord Himself would give them a sign, which would authenticate the arrival of His anointed Saviour, the Seed of the woman, the Messiah of Israel, and royal descendent of the great king David.

• God the Father anointed His beloved Son for this prime position in the human race.

• In 1 John chapter 2, we discover a ministry of the Holy Spirit not mentioned elsewhere in Scripture; His 'unction' or His 'anointing': You have an UNCTION from the Holy One, we read in the KJV translation, and ye know all things.
• In other renderings, we read: You have an ANOINTING from the Holy One, and all of you have knowledge.
• As this is the only place in the New Testament that refers to the 'unction' or 'anointing' of the Spirit, it is important to know how it relates to the Spirit's work in the rest of Scripture.
• It seems that His 'unction' or 'anointing' corresponds with His 'indwelling' ministry, which takes place at the moment of salvation.
• An unbeliever is barred from all the ministries He performs in the life of a Christian, but because a believer has the 'unction' of the Spirit or the Spirit's 'anointing' (because a believer is indwelt by the Spirit), they have access to His other Church-age ministries.
• It is at this point that John explains that unlike these false teachers and false-hearted 'believers', true believers have an unction from the Holy Spirit, they have the anointing of the Holy Spirit, they have been born-again and have the indwelling Holy Spirit of God: But YOU have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all have knowledge, he explained.
• And because of this anointing, they were God's children and had access to all-knowledge.

• In a nutshell, the final chapters of Zechariah teach that God's anointed King would be rejected at first, but in the end, will return in power and great glory to save Israel from their enemies, to establish His eternal kingdom on earth and to rule and reign in righteousness and equity.
• Daniel explains that He came: To finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place. But instead, He was nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men, and put to death.

• And for three of the deepest and darkest hours of history, Jesus the beloved and anointed Son of God, hung on the Cross as our Kinsman-Redeemer, paying the price in full, for our sins.

• JESUS is the Christ, the anointed One.

• Jesus had already been anointed for burial at Bethany and ridden into Jerusalem on a donkey, as Scripture foretold.

• But this continual covering could only last until God's anointed Messiah, the true Lamb of God, would become the final sacrifice for the sin of the world.
• When He returns, He will come back as God's anointed King.

• But this truth must not be divorced from the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, the anointed Messiah and promised Saviour Whose sacrificial death paid the price for our sins and Whose glorious Resurrection transferred us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God's dear Son. 

• Christ is the One Who will fully and finally stop the raging of the nations and silence the tumult of the pagan countries who are plotting in vain against the Lord and against His anointed.

• Together they were going to anoint the body of their beloved - but dead Saviour - or so they thought!
• Nevertheless, they prepared spices to anoint the dead, as was the custom.

• Elijah was to be the forerunner of God's Anointed King.

• They are also to watch for the coming of Elijah, whom God promised to send as the forerunner of His anointed King.

• Man was charged to take dominion over the entire earth and vast oceans, as God's anointed representative ruler.

• For most of Christ's earthly ministry, He and His disciples taught the gospel of the kingdom, but because Israel rejected God's anointed King, Christ returned to heaven for a season, while God continued His plan of redemption through the Church.

• Samuel was the one who had anointed Saul as king, at God's instruction, yet he was the one that was to deliver the strongest rebuke to this disobedient king, for Saul was to be removed from his high position as God's anointed servant over His people, Israel.

• The world is at enmity with the Father, and the world hates the anointed Son of the Father.

• And so, He looked at the dear woman who had been chosen to bear the Lord's Anointed, with tenderness and love, for she was standing by the Cross with her sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene: And when Jesus saw His mother and the disciple He loved standing there, He said to His mother, 'Woman, here is your son.' Then He said to the disciple, 'Here is your mother.' And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

• Each newly established kingdom would be inferior to the previous ones, until the time of the end when the great God of all gods would send His anointed King of all kings and Saviour of all to smash to pieces every vestige of this succession of kingdoms, which enslaved the world for so long.
• It is the Kingdom of God's anointed Christ Who will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but His Kingdom will itself endure forever and ever.

• Some were designed so that those whose hearts were hardened against the Lord and His anointed Christ, would hear with their ears, but be deaf to its real meaning.
• However, once He had been accused of casting out demons by satanic power, His clear, Messianic proclamations, began to be shrouded in parables - so that those whose hearts were hardened against God and His anointed Christ would hear with their ears, but be deaf to its meaning.

• The Lord Jesus is uniquely the eternal Son of God, the perfect Son of Man, the rightful King of the universe, and God's anointed High Priest.

• It is the point when the rule of Satan, through fallen man, will be replaced with God's righteous rule through His anointed Son.

• However, before this takes place, as Scripture declares, the nation was to repent of their sin, be restored to God, trust in His anointed Son, and be redeemed as God's chosen people.

• Those days arrived when Christ was born, and had Jesus been accepted as Israel's prophesied Messiah, He would have set up His earthly kingdom there and then - a kingdom which had been promised to Abraham and his Seed many years before - for God's anointed King was in their midst and all Israel had to do was to repent, turn back to God, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ Whom He had sent.
• The Church age, which began on the day of Pentecost and ends with the Rapture, is the interim period between Christ's shocking rejection at His First Coming and His glorious acceptance as God's anointed King at His Second Coming... when Israel will finally accept Jesus as their Messiah and will once again cry, Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord.

• The giving of the Law to the nation of Israel was one of the most important events in the history of mankind's redemption, and an important step in the chronicles of the covenant nation of Israel through Whom God's anointed Saviour was to be born.

• They rejected God's anointed.

• He was the anointed of God because He was given the power to perform many mighty miracles.

• The second aspect of his calling was to help us understand, the administration of the mystery. Paul was anointed of God to open up the gospel to the Gentiles... and to explain the mystery of God which had been hidden from past generations, but which had now been revealed to the world through Paul and the other apostles.
• Just as Moses was called to be God's administrator to Israel, so Paul was anointed to be God's administrator to the Church.

• He is God's anointed King of kings and Lord of lords.

• He was God's Anointed King Who came to His own people, but they would not permit Him to rule over them and cried out: Crucify Him!

• I wonder if David knew that the Psalm he was writing in his deep distress would be a peculiar pointer to great David's greater Son - God's Anointed Saviour Who would be despised and rejected of men - a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief so that the fallen race of man could be redeemed by faith.

• These were chosen men of God who were anointed by Him to deliver heavenly information that was to one day be complied into the very Word of God.

• Saul was anointed as Israel's first king by Samuel, but he quickly became proud and disobedient.
• God knew that David, the shepherd-boy from Bethlehem, was a man after His own heart, and so Samuel was sent to anoint the youngest son of Jesse, in place of Saul.
• Although he was the rightful heir to the throne, David, had received no instruction from the Lord to destroy his enemy and could not bring himself to harm God's anointed king.

• But this is more than the exaltation of an earthly king for we also read: Your throne O God is forever and ever, righteousness is the sceptre of Your kingdom and God has anointed You with the oil of gladness above all Your companions.
• Oh yes, all Scripture is inspired of God and Psalm 45 is a glorious hymn of praise and celebration of the King of kings, God's own anointed.

• But righteousness is credited to those who have faith in the Anointed of God, not those who boast in their physical genetics.

• From the start of Christ's ministry, the scribes and Pharisees resented His unorthodox teaching and heavenly testimony, which laid claims to His being the incarnate Son of God Who came to earth from heaven as the anointed Messiah of Israel.

• 'CHRIST' reveals His mission, for He is the Anointed of God Who was sent as the promised Messiah of Israel and Saviour of the world.

• The Lord Jesus however, was born both a KING through David's line and anointed by God as a PRIEST forever, after the order of Melchizedek.

• All who were born before the Cross were born under the Law, which was the tool God used to point people to His coming, anointed Son.

• It was also a starting point for a prophecy given to Daniel: Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place.

• Righteousness is credited by grace through faith in God's anointed Saviour, and by faith we are to continue living lives obeying God's Word.

• Scripture tells us that, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, but that a time was coming when the Lord God would raise up another Prophet, and today we know Him to be Jesus - the Lord's anointed Prophet, Priest, and King of Israel.
• This anointed Prophet of God would be unique in the history of the world.

• Many consider this angel to be 'The Angel of the Lord' - Lord Jesus Himself Who is God's anointed High Priest of heaven, for Hebrews tells us that Christ is the One at the right hand of the Father Who intercedes for the saints day and night.

• Other passages identify it as a wonderful time of peace and prosperity when God's anointed King rules and reigns on the throne of David.

• How could it be that God's Anointed, Who is above all, over-all, and sustains all, could place Himself in a position of such inferiority towards His own people?

• They trusted that God's Word would one day be fulfilled, and Israel was the nation selected by God to be His chosen people through whom would be born God's anointed Saviour of the world.

• Although the nation of Israel was in deep distress, Jesus was God's anointed Sovereign, Who was to rule and reign in righteousness - and He will rule and reign with a rod of iron.
• God's anointed King was Jesus, for He was both the root and the offspring of Israel's great king David, as promised by the Word of the Lord.
• The shocking rejection of their Messiah and King, His illegal trials and cruel crucifixion on a Roman cross, caused the longed-for time of peace and prosperity, under the rulership of God's anointed King, to be postponed for a season.

• He was the One Who would finally seal up the vision and prophecy, and anoint the most holy place.

• It was at the start of Christ's ministry that Jesus walked from His hometown in Galilee to the River Jordan to be baptised by John, to be anointed by the Holy Spirit, and to be confirmed as God's only Begotten Son and Israel's promised Messiah.
• John was a voice crying in the wilderness: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, and was anointed of the Lord to be the forerunner of the promised Messiah.
• But secondly, Christ was also to be God's anointed, heavenly High Priest, and like Aaron (Israel's first high priest), Christ was to be washed with water so that He could represent the people to His Father.
• Jesus also had to be anointed with oil so that He could function as God's heavenly, High Priest, after the order of Melchizedek.
• And so once the Lord was immersed in the water and washed by John (in the manner of all God's priests), and anointed with the Oil of the Holy Spirit Who rested upon Him in the form of a Dove, the very voice of God was heard to proclaim: THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED!

• He was the anointed Son of the Father and was sent to save His people from their sin, but was despised, rejected, mocked, and delivered up to be crucified. 

• Jesus is God's anointed High Priest, through Whom we have been made fit to approach the grand and awesome throne of the most high God.

• Were they following Him out of idle curiosity or did they understand that He was the anointed Lamb of God, Who had come from His Father in heaven to take away the sin of the world.

• In this verse, God the Father is proclaiming that Christ is His chosen, anointed King.

• The Day-of-the-Lord, therefore, covers a period of about 1007 years, during which time God takes back the reins of authority over the earth from Satan... and establishes Christ as His anointed King on His eternal throne of David.

• He was the anointed One for Whom they had been waiting since the first Passover, when God called His people out of Egypt to be His adopted son and chosen nation.

• By grace, He has furnished us with proof that Jesus is indeed His anointed Son, by raising Him from the dead - praise His holy name.

• This verse spoke of the bodily resurrection of God's Anointed, yet David was still in the tomb and his body had decayed.
