• Focussed Attention Are your affections too easily taken up with the froth of this world system? Are you preoccupied with the goods that chain hearts to this realm? Are you choked with the junk and wares that demand your affection? It is true that all good gifts around us are indeed sent from the heavenly Giver, and we thank Him for the day by day protection and provision that He affords us.

• The peace of God and the provision of God comes to the one with a single mind – a thought life that trusts in the Lord… no matter what life tries to throw at it..

• First, we are to rest in the fact that our Father has made full provision for all our needs; positionally, we are complete in the Lord Jesus Christ.
• But while we see our Father's requirement, and recognize His provision, let us not overlook our responsibility.
• It is not because the provision has been insufficient, or unavailable, or afar off - but because the channel has been obstructed, the avenues of the soul have been closed, so that the need has remained unsupplied.

• Gracious Benefaction But God’s benefaction and His gracious provision to us covers more – so much more, for we are called by Him to be His children and to grow in grace, in Him.

• All the blessings in life, flow in abundant measure, from His eternal supply.  But most people give neither thought nor thanks for His moment-by-moment provision.

• Overflowing blessings and provision in abundance have been foreordained for us.

• Provision of Grace God’s provision of grace is given in love and breaks the power of cancelled sin. Grace sets us free to live and move and have our being – living and working in Him.

• Provision of God God spreads His table with great abundance – even in the presence of our enemies, and Mary sang, He fills the hungry with good things – pressed down and spilling over. For whoever hath, (hunger for the Lord) to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, (spiritual hunger) from him shall be taken away even what he hath.

• Withdrawing acute needs by filling our laps with bountiful provision may fill a temporary need, but it will not perfect in us that gracious faith – that is so necessary to please God.

• Grace is founded on the sovereignty of God and shows forth His unconditional love. Grace is God’s over-abounding provision, not only in the physical but in the spiritual. Grace not only restores what was lost in Eden but adds to it an unknown expanse.
• Strombeck’s Definition  Grace was once defined by Strombeck as:  “the unmerited abounding provision of the unrestrained operation of God’s infinite love through Christ Jesus on behalf of man – especially he who depends on Him.”
• Matthew 5:45 God’s gracious provision even provides the breath of those that curse Him.
• Special Grace But there is a special grace for those that have accessed salvation by grace, through faith: Strombeck writes the following: Grace is God’s provision to bring into being, sustain and perfect His new creation in Christ.

• Grateful Thanks While preparing food or eating a meal, I thank Him for His gracious provision, I pray I may be fed with the hidden manna and drink the sincere milk of the Word.  I pray that I eat the meat of the word and that I come to a deeper knowledge of God – I pray that many hear the Word and find their rest in my Saviour.

• Predestination is a non-meritous response, to God’s gracious provision in Christ.

• The engrossment with the work and its multifarious concerns; the rush and hurry of life; the restless spirit of the age; these, with an exhaustive provision of external religious facilities, all tend to render the inner place of Divine speaking inoperative or impossible of functioning.

• What a great guarantee He gives Us with His remarkable – All THINGS !  Nothing is overlooked and nothing is excluded in the Father provision for His children.
• Pledge of Provision God’s pledge to provide all..

• is the gift of His Beloved Son in Whom He is well pleased – so that we can be made adoptive sons, whom He also loves and loves so dearly! If so great a gift is forthcoming from the Father, He will not withhold the smaller gifts that are needed for our daily survival. Ours is not to worry, but to trust in His loving provision. His is to carry out His never-failing promises and His vow to you.
• God of Surprises Our God is a God of surprises Who never mirrors His miracle or provision.

• Trust His Word Worry can also mean: I do not believe that God can keep His promises to care for me. It’s casting doubt on the truth of God’s word – it’s unbelief in His promised provision. When worry is taken to its final conclusion – worry is effectively calling God “a liar!!”  But He is our strength and stay.
• Let us not display unbelief – but by faith, let us rest in His promised provision.

• Whether he pretended not to hear God's instruction, deluded himself that the ship he boarded was God's provision to use him elsewhere, or whether he displayed open rebellion against the Word of the Lord, Jonah disobeyed his God and, in so doing, he sinned.

• God also knows that a poor man living in needy circumstances, a destitute widow without hope in the world, or a penniless orphan, is much more likely to grasp hold of God's great gift of salvation which is given freely to all, rather than a self-sufficient, affluent man, whose super-abundance of material possessions and worldly wealth renders him independent of God's provision and can even cause him to become disdainful of God's free gift of salvation.

• The crowd that followed Jesus were only concerned for their earthly provision and temporal needs, but Jesus would often use their limited outlook of the hypocritical Jews, to teach His disciples deeper truths that had a heavenly perspective and eternal consequences.
• The beautiful figure of the Good Shepherd gently attending to the needs of his flock, feeding them, defending them, guiding them, protecting them, and correcting them is pictured here, for they were to be inheritors of the kingdom, but how few enjoy the true benefits offered to this tiny flock, for most are only interested in earthly provision and temporal needs.

• Our dependence upon His person and His provision is what He is seeking from all His children, if we are to grow in grace and produce good fruit to His praise and glory.

• He had already promised one dying thief that he would be with Him in paradise when he acknowledged Jesus as Lord, and He had also made gracious provision for His grieving mother who would be adopted into the family of His servant, John, before His Father turned away from the Son of His love, as the sin of the world was laid on His shoulders.

• The fruit of the land was God's provision to all His people, but He provided for the priests in a unique and different way.

• Difficult trials and disappointing happenings are used by God to test our trust in Him and to draw us into a deeper dependency upon His faithful provision and His unconditional love.

• What godly lives we would live if it were not for the foibles of others!But this life is fraught with disappointments and disturbances and we are warned that murmuring is the consequence of unbelief, while disputing is the product of a discontented heart which brings in its wake grievances, disease, envy, and sin, as exemplified in Israel’s forty-year long wilderness wanderings when the people murmured against God's wisdom and complained about His gracious provision.God, in His wisdom, knows that patient-endurance, humility of heart, and a soul that trusts in the Lord, does not spring forth from a stress-free life but is the out-working of a man or woman who has received God’s sufficient grace to face any temptation or trial which may happen along the way.Paul knew that a Christ-like character is not birthed from a bed of ease and that blameless integrity and spiritual maturity takes many long years, if not a lifetime, to fully develop as one is tried like silver or honed in a millstone of suffering. God uses the storms, sadness, disappointments, and dangers of everyday life, as well as the difficult people that cross our path, to conform us into the likeness of Christ.Let us, therefore, resist the temptation to enter into murmurings and disputes with one another and let us trust the Lord in all things so that our lives will be a living sacrifice that becomes, to Him, a sweet fragrance and we will become blameless and pure children of God, without fault in this warped and crooked generation.

• Their voices united together as they trudged towards the city of David, and the theme of many of their song touched on various areas of need as they collectively appealed to the Lord for the destruction of their enemies, victory over wicked men, beseeching God's protection, provision, prosperity, and restoration.

• And on that day their Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ, will make provision for their cleansing and the remnant of Israel will be re-gathered before a promised time of peace and prosperity floods the whole world, when the earth will be filled with the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

• Instead of walking with his Creator in the cool of the evening and enjoying fellowship with the Lord, Adam hid himself from the face of God because he was afraid and ashamed - and his God-focused heart was replaced with a self-centered soul which relied on his own fleshly abilities, instead of depending on the Lord's almighty provision.
• Do we put our confidence in our bank balance, our negotiating skills, or our government's provision?
• OR, do we trust in the Lord our God with all our heart and place our hope in His unfailing love and promised provision?

• God knows our daily needs before we even ask, but too often this verse is interpreted as a free-for-all to squander our money and other God-given resources on selfish desires instead of acting as wise stewards of God's provision.
• But as much as we rejoice that all good things come from God and delight to quote this verse as an encouragement to one another and as a testimony to God's gracious provision, it is important to read this verse in its correct context and discover why Paul gave this great promise of abundant supply to his readers.
• All good and perfect gifts come from our Father in heaven Who is our great Provider. Indeed, not one of us could draw another breath without His provision and grace, but God is no man's debtor and Paul wanted these dear believers at Philippi to KNOW that their generosity to Paul would be honoured by the Lord Who would supply all their needs according to His riches in glory - in Christ Jesus.

• It is when we stray from the path of trusting God by putting our hope in an alternative provision like our own flawed, human wisdom or our own accumulated wealth, that we find ourselves on a slippery slope into the proud, pagan mindset that excludes God from our thinking and places our feet on the quicksand of this fallen world system.
• Whether we are rich or poor, young or old, male or female, slave or free, our trust should rest securely in God's provision.
• He knew that a mindset that fixed its hope on the uncertainty of this world's riches would cease to be that of a man that maintains his trust in God's provision.
• We should place neither trust in our own sufficiency nor fix our hope on that which is fading away, but maintain faith in the Word of the Lord which reminds us that our hope in today’s provision is from His gracious hand, and that our secure hope for the future comes from Jesus Christ alone.

• Rather, we are to be transformed into the likeness of Christ by the renewing of our mind,and to make no provision for the ungodly works of the flesh with regard to their lustful leanings and ungodly propensities.
• We are to: Put on Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, in regard to its lusts.

• In the middle of God righteous sentence on sin, was nestled a gracious provision for mankind, which would secure salvation for Adam's fallen race through a sin-substitute.

• Most wicked acts are carried out secretively and under cover of darkness, for even though evil men know that God exists, they do not honour Him as Lord, nor do they give thanks to Him for His daily provision.

• As with all the apostles, the dear desire of James is to see all believers in Christ maturing in their faith, growing in grace, trusting God unwaveringly, and developing an ever-increasing faith in His gracious provision and sufficient grace.
• James knows that a wealthy man or woman who is relying on themselves instead of depending totally upon God's provision will be brought low.

• Indeed, as children of the Most High God, we are also blessed with the same priceless provision and protection that was given to Abram.

• How tempting it can be, to start to rely on our own abilities and resources, in preference to trusting the Lord and depending upon His provision.
• However, we are exhorted not to lean on our own, human understanding and trust in our own provision, nor are we to depend on others to the exclusion of our Heavenly Father.

• The first part acknowledges God's wonderful acts of deliverance in times past, and this final segment requests God's ongoing protection and provision for the future.

• How vital to look to the One Who is enthroned in heaven and Who created the universe for provision and protection.

• While the word 'El' signifies the strength and power of the great Creator 'Elohim', the word 'Shaddai' additionally speaks of tender nourishment, gentle reassurance, and the provision of strength that a tiny babe derives from the comforting breast of his mother.

• But within days of promising to keep God's Word on Mount Sinai, the people of Israel started to murmur against the Lord and His provision.
