• Godly Challenge All he writes is for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. His writings give us the bedrock upon which to stand and to live for God, in this evil day. The godly wisdom he wrote is directed at a Christian’s growth and sanctification, and we in this generation do well to study carefully his instructions and warnings. He writes to the saints in Christ Jesus – to those that are set apart unto God.

• Today is still the day of our sanctification.

• We should view life from an eternal perspective and live a life that result in practical sanctification – so that we grow spiritually as we walk with the Lord, and become more and more like Him.

• Our Sanctification Sanctification can only take place in the new-life in Christ.
• Sanctification can never take place in the old-life in Adam.
• We have to ask Him to examine our rebellious and carnal nature – to know the difference between 1) Christ as substitute and Christ as representative. 2) between sanctification truths and identification truths. 3) between the new-life in Christ and the old-life in Adam. 4) between the spiritual believer and a carnal Christian.

• With regards to the Christian walk (sanctification) a believer either lives the grace-promise-faith way or the law-works-merit way.

• But He also leaves the choice of being made into Christ's likeness in this world to the believer:- allow the Spirit of Christ Who lives in you and work through you – salvation of the soul – that’s sanctification – being conformed into the image and likeness of Christ, OR resist this child-training and quench the Spirit..
• Do not neglect so great salvation. Do not fall short of the promised rest. Be careful not to be slothful, or stand still who fall away. Do not sin wilfully or draw back to perdition and don’t ignore the important sanctification process.

• Christ, the Head is our Sanctification.

• What think ye of Christ?  for He is the power of God and the wisdom of God, and in Him is salvation- redemption.; sanctification; glorification.
• God’s Christ It is by God’s doing we are in Christ Jesus and eternally united with Him, and to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ - the power of God and Christ -the wisdom of God, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption 1Corinthians 1:24

• Inner Cleansing Let us permit this scriptural self-examination in our lives. Let us submit to His examination of the inward parts. Let us consent to Him exposing each secret sin. Let us seek an inner cleansing and sanctification. Let us draw near to Him with a true heart.

• God’s Purpose God’s plans and purposes for humanity are continuing to be played out. God is not mocked and His purpose for your life will reach its goal. And this is the will and the purpose of God:- even Your sanctification. 1 Thes.4:3  This is the will, of God concerning you that in everything give thanks 1Thes.5:18 This is the purpose of God..

• Those who have thoroughly learned full dependence on Him for justification will come to understand that sanctification is by the same faith principle.

• God’s purpose spans far greater horizons, which is the believer’s sanctification. It is being established in the faith – spiritual maturity – growing in Christ.

• His many blessings provide all that’s needed for salvation, sanctification, and service.

• ANYTHING that we do ourselves as a means of sanctification – any experience or any devotional undertaking which we think will make us mature.
• We need to see if we are trying to use such methods and means for self-sanctification.
• Sanctification Trap These are serious and sombre words that each of us would do well to examine.
• 2 Aspects of Righteousness In true sanctification, there is no place for anything except, that I should know Him.
• In true sanctification, the only reality is the Lord Jesus Himself.
• Self- Surrender Study and prayer mean nothing if we use them as our means of sanctification.

• Faith is required for holiness and for sanctification (the salvation of the soul).

• Threefold Salvation This patient endurance is designed for sanctification – “the salvation of the soul”.  We are to be those who believe to the saving of the soul.

• There is a subtle danger in relying upon some isolated experience of sanctification,' so-called.

• And just as the knowledge that Christ died for sin (died as our atonement) is indispensable to our justification; so the knowledge that Christ and we, with Him, in the likeness of His death, are dead to sin – is indispensable to our sanctification” (Like Christ, p.176).

• Thorough and intelligent establishment in the principle of grace concerning one's justification (re-birth) is the necessary footing for reliance upon the same principle for one's sanctification (growth).

• Spiritual Maturity Living by faith is not the automatic outcome of the born-again believer. A life of sanctification is not the natural outcome of saved humanity. Spiritual maturity is a decision the believer makes – it’s a day-by-day choice. The ‘laws’ of sanctification (not the Law of Moses) must be applied by the believer..
• Most new Christians would undoubtedly choose the path of sanctification.

• While the direction is toward ourselves redemption, sanctification, glorification, and so on or toward anything less than the Son Himself, we have not got God dynamic for accomplishing His work, and therefore it becomes necessary, as the sufficient, the adequate basis of the Holy Spirit operation, that there should be a revelation of Jesus Christ in the heart, for it is in relation to Him and what God has purposed concerning Him that all the energies of God are released and made active.

• We are going through the process of sanctification – and in this life we must lay hold of that hope that is set before us – by abiding in Him, resting in Him – relying on Him to keep us amidst the storms of life - trusting Him, day by day by day.

• He is my alpha; my genesis; my redemption; my sanctification; my glorification; and my omega.

• Salvation of Man There is only one place in Scripture where the question is actually asked, What must I do to be saved..? and the answer is given clearly and simply, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. The spirit of man which was born dead in trespasses and sins is saved simply by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ as our sacrifice for sin. But our initial salvation (our salvation of the spirit) is of course the first step on a life journey for the salvation of the soul of man, for once we have been eternally saved we are told by Paul, in Philippians 2:12, that we must work out our own salvation. This aspect of salvation is called sanctification and is ongoing throughout the whole of our whole Christian life.

• We can even quench the work of the Spirit, in His sanctification process within, but don’t kid yourself – even you can never negate the living Word of truth!

• God has ordered that He is accountable for the believer’s sanctification.

• Our sanctification process is our ongoing preparation for God’s eternal purpose in Him..

• Rest in Christ But how can striving towards godliness harmonise with the Spirit’s work in us? How can the diligent pursuit of sanctification be compatible with resting in Christ? How can striving towards holiness be rooted and grounded in the passivity of grace?
• Godly Living We do not strive to godly living out of obligation or a desire to gain God’s approval. We do not diligently pursue our sanctification out of a sense of duty, but of love.
• Riches of His Grace When we begin to understand that grace is bigger than the total sum of our sins, the love of God will constrain us towards the diligent pursuit of sanctification.

• We live in Christ for sanctification.

• A Study:- Man’s Nature and Destiny Threefold Name Our triune God created triune man: spirit, soul, and body for a threefold purpose:-salvation, sanctification and service, for time and through eternity.

• The Holy Spirit indwells us and thereby accomplishes our sanctification - an adjustment of our personal lives to His own person and character, to the dropping away of sin's power over us and the implanting of His Christ-imparting attributes in us.

• Sanctification does not depend of what you do but who you are In Christ.

• Paul toiled to show that sanctification as well as justification was gained by grace –  but they were toiling to sanctify themselves by returning to the works of the law.
• Sanctification Process The sanctification process takes a believer from immaturity to maturity.
• Sanctification takes a baby Christian to a fully mature man or woman of God.
• Sanctification first feeds the believer with milk and then with the meat of the word of God.

• If we are weak in understanding the principle of complete justification by faith, we will be strong in seeking to produce our own sanctification.
• The incorrigibility of the flesh must be realized before one is ready to turn altogether from self to Christ for sanctification, as he has already done for justification. -H.A.I.
• As conviction of guilt goes before known justification, so the experiential knowledge of self before sanctification.

• Justification and Sanctification In Hebrews 10:10 we read:- we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all, while in 1 Thessalonians 5:23 we read:- May the God of peace himself make you holy in every way.

• A Study:- Man’s Nature and Destiny Threefold Life The Christian life is a three-fold experience – three phases, planned by the Trinity. 1) Salvation : 2) Sanctification : 3) Service.  FIRST: we come to Christ for salvation.
• He becomes related to US.  SECOND: we live in Christ for sanctification..
• by sanctification – so that the service you do is not of yourself, but Him living His life through you.

• Initial Sanctification The moment we were born from above we were positionally sanctified for we were placed into the body of Christ by the Spirit – and we are forever positioned in Him. The instant we are saved, we are set apart unto the Lord.
• We are sanctified. We are positioned in Christ and we are positionally sanctified. We were positionally sanctified when we were justified by faith in Christ, but must move to practical or progressive sanctification, if we are to grow in our Christian life.

• We are to grow in grace. But how does sanctification take place, and in what way does sanctification happen? Well, being sanctified means that we are set apart unto God – growing spiritually.
• All By Grace When we were positionally sanctified at salvation, it was all by God’s grace. We had no part to play in our positional sanctification – all we did was to believe.
• But we’re also to be set apart for practical sanctification during our time on earth.
• Free-will Choice All sanctification and spiritual growth in our lives is by God’s grace alone, and all we have to do is to submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in our lives. But not all believers are being sanctified in a practical, progressive manner – for being “set apart unto God,” is a free-will choice – a decision of the will, we all have to make.

• God, Himself, has made each and every blood-bought child complete in Him. For of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, Who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30

• God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth (2 Thess. 2:13).

• Salvation and Sanctification We come to the Lord Jesus for salvation, when we are born from above.
• We live in the Lord Jesus for sanctification, throughout our Christian life.
• We live in Christ as a saint, for the sanctification of the soul.
• Through sanctification (of the soul) He becomes related to us in His Son.
• Salvation of the soul (or sanctification) takes the complete life-span of a believer.
• Through sanctification, we are matured through trials into being sons of God.
• Hearing Not Sight The process of sanctification should be the most vital consideration to us all, but many Christians remain babes, ingesting only the milk of the Word.
• Some begin the sanctification process and pull back, when the going gets tough.
• But sanctification is simply being in Christ… that’s it..
• Sanctification Process Salvation is open to all sinners but only those choosing to believe in Him are saved.
• Sanctification and maturing in the Christian life is open to all believers and all believers will eventually be sanctified,  for we shall all be like Him – but that happens after we leave this earth.
• The choice for the believer is willing sanctification or unwilling sanctification.
• Willing sanctification is a life-process now, where we willingly submit to Him..
• Willing Sanctification Willing sanctification is what the Lord seeks and performs through child training.
• Choosing the sanctifying process means trusting Him when you don’t understand, for it is the faithful servant that enters willingly into the sanctification process.
• And sometimes He will take us to the extremity of hope to test our faith in Him, for sanctification is: “being conformed into the image and likeness of Christ“.

• Sanctification Steps God has also set out His method for sanctification, and we are to grow in the Christian life the way He dictated, and not try to do it our own way.
• Interlinked Attributes But sanctification, grace, growth, faith et al, are all interlinked, and a wrong course in one will inevitably influence all the rest.

• The whole of our life is a process of sanctification..

• We read that ongoing, life-long sanctification results in the ‘saving of the soul’.
• That heir of all things is our Lord Jesus Christ, and through sanctification we are being made ready to be joint-heirs with Him.

• And the process of sanctification brings every believer to this blessed spot.
• Sanctification Choice Sanctification or being matured by the Spirit is also a choice we make in this life.
• Sanctification (or growing in grace) is a choice made by the believer.
• Willing Sanctification Willing Sanctification is a matter of choice.

• There can be no sanctification, except by the work of the Spirit of God.
• 2nd : Sanctification SECOND: Sanctification is undertaken by the work of the Spirit in a believer, and it’s a lifelong process that He desires to undertake in all believers.

• And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself now – (sanctification) just as He is pure.1 John 3:3
• It’s a single concept with differing forms: 1) justification; 2) sanctification; 3) glorification.
• One Gift of Grace Salvation is ONE and yet salvation is THREE – for we were saved at a single point in time:- (justified) We are being saved through the passage of time:- (sanctification) and at a point in time, known only to God, we will be finally fully saved:- (glorified). There are not 3 salvations, but ONE gift of grace that is accessed by faith, in Christ, God’s ONE gift of salvation has THREE elements – 1) justification, 2) sanctification, and 3)glorification.
• We need to know the meanings of justification, sanctification, and glorification.
• Sanctification – PRESENT In 1 Timothy 4:16 Paul is seen reminding Timothy to persevere in the things of God – which will ensure SALVATION both for himself – and for all who hear him teach. Salvation in this verse is given the term sanctification – for we are sanctified by grace. 
• Ongoing Salvation Timothy, who was already saved in the past from the penalty of sin, is now being instructed on how to be saved in the present - from the POWER of sin, for he, like all believers, is in the process of being saved in his Christian life – SANCTIFICATION.
• Although justification happens at a point in time – sanctification is a lifelong process. Sanctification is an ongoing, lifelong process in a believer, BUT though God desires all His children to be sanctified – not all believers are willing to be set apart unto Him.
• Positional Sanctification Being positioned “in Christ”, when we were justified, means we were also positionally sanctified that very moment in time.
• We were positionally set apart unto God, but because we have free-will, we can choose whether or not we want to be sanctified. Though positionally sanctified at rebirth – practical sanctification remains a choice.
• Practical Sanctification God wants all his children to be sanctified and set apart unto Him, just as the Lord Jesus Christ sanctified Himself unto God – but He will never force His will on any of us. God desires all His children to say willingly, Thy will, not mine be done, just like the Lord Jesus Christ – but He will never violate our volition, should we choose to refuse.
• Willing Sanctification God longs that all his children chose to be sanctified – set apart unto Him by offering themselves as a willing sacrifice and submitting to the Spirit’s leading – for when we are being sanctified we are blessed with continuous deliverance from the power of sin.
• And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself (through practical sanctification, during the present age) – just as the Lord Jesus Christ is pure.

• The Godhead created Adam with spirit, soul, and body, for a threefold life:- a life of salvation, sanctification, and service.
• Sanctification in Him: Romans 6:1 to Romans 8:29.
• All By Grace We come to the Lord Jesus – for salvation (which is all by grace. We live in the Lord Jesus – for sanctification (which is all by grace). We work for the Lord Jesus – in service (which is all by grace)
• Resist or Relate Some fail to even come to Him for salvation, as they resist His Holy Spirit, Some start the process of sanctification, but carnal lusts grieve the Holy Spirit.
• And then continue through the ongoing process of sanctification and service, so that the believer can have that life and have it more abundantly.

• We are not only saved by grace we should live our lives by grace, for sanctification is by grace as well as justification.
• Works-Merit-Law Man’s attempts at sanctification are counter to God’s way and are founded on man’s merits, and his effort to please God.
• Sanctification through law, is founded on man’s effort to please God.
• But sanctification by grace is founded on God’s grace alone.
• Whenever we choose the wrong way through rebellion, wrong teaching or ignorance of God’s way of sanctification, every born-again believer has access back to the throne of God, through confession of sins: Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight – and God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1John 1:9.

• “But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, Who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 1Cor.1:30

• You see, there are positive and negative aspects to this sanctification process.

• Sanctification Process Full obedience to God is the beautiful end result of our sanctification process, yet without initial obedience to God, the sanctification process is inoperable.
• The initial-process of sanctification only begins with a submissive, obedient heart.
• The end-product of sanctification results in willing obedience and submission.
• Wonderful Pattern Obedience and sanctification are the two opposite sides of the same coin. The effectiveness of one is inter-dependent upon the presence of the other.
• Heart of Obedience Just as sanctification operates through obedience and vice versa, even so, righteousness is the heart of obedience for both are mutually exclusive.
• Focus on Obedience We are imputed with Christ’s righteousness, which directs our focus upon obedience. We are sanctified by grace and obedience is the root and fruit of sanctification.
• Should not our response be willing obedience leading to righteous sanctification?  For just as through one man’s disobedience many people were made sinners, so also through one Man’s obedience many people will be made righteous.

• Sanctification means death as well as life..
• Sanctification is a process which starts at rebirth and terminates at His appearing.
• There are no shortcuts to sanctification, which is a lifetime growth in trusting God.
• There are no shortcuts to sanctification, which is a lifelong process in trusting God.

• Being born again is the first completed step of the rest of your Christian life, and the majority of Scripture tells about this journey through life – a journey through life of sanctification.
• Being 'born again' is not the ultimate goal of the gospel, but the first. New birth is a prelude to the lifelong process of sanctification – spiritual growth. Sanctification develops into the intimate relationship God desires with each of us.
• It is a message of salvation – a message of sanctification – a message of walking in spirit and truth.

• All-Embracing Word The word ‘salvation’ is one all-embracing word that unites a variety of concepts; redemption; rebirth; justification; security; sanctification; growth; maturity; foreknowledge; election; predestination; righteousness; glorification; grace; reconciliation; new-life-in-Christ; new creation; adoption; saved by grace; born-from-above; baptised into Christ; accepted-in Him; citizens of heaven - and more.
• All facets of Salvation are by the power of God and because of the grace of God.  All God does in redemption, rebirth, justification; and sanctification is by grace.
• Not Man’s Merit Redeeming, reconciliation, sanctification, and maturing in the faith is ALL by grace.

• Mystery of Salvation Meditate on the mystery of His triad of grace: Salvation, Sanctification, and Glorification..

• sanctification (1 Cor. 1:30).
• If we keep in mind that the Lord Jesus is our Sanctification, the seemingly difficult subject will clearly unfold for us day by day.
• Many fall into the Methodistic, or Quaker, or Pearsall-Smith scheme of sanctification - all of which is substantially the same.
• The true scriptural means of sanctification is that you are set apart to God.
• Sanctification has nothing whatsoever to do with the extinction of evil in the flesh.
• The common conception of sanctification is that every area of the life should be holy; but that is not holiness, it is the fruit of holiness: holiness is the Lord Jesus Christ.
• God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth (2 Thess. 2:13).

• God’s Way OR Man’s Way The grace way is sanctification God’s way.
• The works' way is sanctification man’s way.

• 2 Verbs for Wash Why did Christ deliberately use two different verbs for the word WASH. The Greek word ‘louo’ means a full cleansing – like a full priestly cleansing,The Greek word ‘nipto’ means a partial, ongoing wash – like a priests’ daily wash – and the two words refer to initial-salvation and ongoing-sanctification.

• So why is sanctification omitted in Romans 8:30? We read:- those He called He also justified, and those He justified, He also glorified. Why is sanctification omitted in this verse – when it is an integral part of salvation?
• And Sanctification is the element of salvation that frees us from the POWER of sin.
• Justification is a past event in time – and happened when we first believe, and Glorification is a future event in time – and will be finalised at Christ’s return. Sanctification is connected with our Christian life today.
• we have been freed from sin’s power over us – but while on earth it still lurks. And this is the thing… just as we chose to believe in the Lord Jesus to be justified – So too we have a choice when it comes to sanctification during our time on earth.
• Although justification happens at a point in time – sanctification is a life-long process.
• Sanctification is an ongoing, life-long process in a believer, BUT though God desires all His children to be sanctified – not all believers are willing to be set apart unto Him.
• Positional Sanctification But remember….
• We were positionally set apart unto God, but because we have free-will, we can choose if we want to be practically sanctified. Though positionally sanctified at rebirth – practical sanctification remains a choice.
• Practical Sanctification God desires all His children to willingly say, Thy will, not mine be done, as did the Lord Jesus.

• Faith is needed for salvation, for sanctification, and for service and faith is essential if we are to please God in our daily living.
• sanctification – for growing in grace.
• Faith is needed for a life that is being conformed into the image of Jesus, for maturing and sanctification is by the power of the Holy Spirit..

• while Paul reminds us Christ is the power of God, and the WISDOM of God – Christ Jesus, Who of God became to us WISDOM and righteousness and sanctification and redemption. 1Corinthians 1:24,30

• But that same believer can be chastened or even punished (condemned), in their sanctification walk, which will result in loss of rewards for disobedience, but NEVER is a believer under the condemnation or wrath of God, that is spoken of in John.

• As a gift of grace, sanctification is conferred on each believer as soon as he believes.
• So, while the believer's realized sanctification appears painfully meagre, at most a thin line of light, like the crescent of the new moon, yet he sees it ever complemented by the clear outlines of that rounded wholeness which is his in the Lord Jesus, and into which he is to be daily waxing till he grows to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ' (Eph. 4:13) -A.J.G.

• Sanctification Scriptures In 1 Peter 1:16 we read Be holy, for I am holy, and in John.17:17,19 Jesus prays: Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
• A process of daily living out intentional sanctification... by means of living a life of practical sanctification.
• You are on this sanctification journey through life..
• Growing in Grace At times practical sanctification is swift, and lessons are quickly learned and applied.
• Process of Growth Remember, we are to continue day by day in this process of practical sanctification.
• Sanctification Prayer Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

• Once we are justified and placed in the family of God, we are called by our Father to sanctification, which is a lifelong process in which we press on towards the goal of our heavenly calling so that we may gain the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

• We are to stop being bottle-fed with the simple justification truths of Scripture and are to start to wrestle with the tougher aspects of our Christian faith, where we learn obedience by the things that we suffer, through a process of ongoing sanctification - where we are being conformed into the likeness of Jesus, Himself.

• And Romans is a book that systematically and logically takes us into a fuller understanding of God's plans and purposes for salvation, redemption, sanctification, glorification, and all that accompanies the riches of God's grace towards us who were once dead in trespasses and sins, but have now been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

• The question that this earnest, young scribe asked the Lord Jesus, is a question that should be on the heart of all who have a reverential fear of God and a desire to do His will: For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, and this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ Whom You have sent.

• He talks of God's gracious offer of salvation and walks us through the treasures of justification and sanctification, election and adoption, and he opens up the wonderful identification truths where Christ's resurrected life is imparted to us and we are positioned in Him.

• He died as the compulsory SIN offering for our justification, but He died as the free-will BURNT offering for our sanctification.

• He began to lead us through the life-changing process of sanctification, where we are being transformed, day by day, into the image and likeness of our Saviour.

• The Holy Spirit enriches us by guiding us into all truth relative to sound doctrine, salvation, sanctification, glorification, and all that streams from the amazing grace of God.

• While the first 5 chapters of Romans deals with how to be saved: justification, the next chapters deal with how to live the Christian life: sanctification.

• On that day our justification, sanctification, and glorification will be finalised, when our spirit, soul, and body, is at last made perfect in Christ.
• Our positional identification and progressive sanctification with the Lord Jesus will be completed, we will be perfected, and He has promised, I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem.

• This ongoing salvation process, or sanctification, happens moment by moment, as the life on Christ within, saves us from the power of sin in our lives.
• As maturing believers, we can only go through God's training programme of ongoing sanctification successfully, as we learn obedience by the things that we suffer and as we willingly submit to the deep work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

• We should rejoice in our calling and our birth, our salvation, and our sanctification, knowing that death has been conquered, and we are kept by the power of God unto good works and words.

• Although we are also to live by faith, to walk by faith, and to pray in faith throughout our earthly life (the ongoing process of our sanctification) the emphasis of this particular passage is initial salvation (justification). 

• It is God Who puts a hunger in our heart, both for justification and sanctification.

• Paul's desire for their ongoing sanctification and maturity in the faith was so strong that He prayed often and continuously that the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father (Who loved us and gave us eternal encouragement by His grace), would encourage their hearts and strengthen their souls in every good work and word.

• Their faith was a sanctifying faith, the type of faith James challenged his readers with when he wrote: Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. It is always important to ascertain if a passage relates to initial salvation (justification) or progressively ongoing salvation (sanctification).
• Sanctification is a work of faith which takes time to grow and mature.
• An ongoing sanctification process takes place as the Holy Spirit works the work of God through our lives.
• The apostle John calls the product of this sanctification process: The righteous acts of the saints. A 'work of faith' is a righteous act of God which He carries out through us because of our faith in Christ.

• We should be maturing in the faith, growing in grace, progressing in the sanctification process, and becoming increasingly like the Lord Jesus Himself as we keep Him as the focus of our heart - for He is the Head of the Church and we are His Body.
• All Christians do not have this attitude, for everyone's spiritual development towards full maturity depends on their walk and their progress in the sanctification process.

• They claimed adherence to the Law and taught that works of the flesh were necessary for both justification and sanctification.

• The whole sanctification process from initial salvation to final glorification, is to transform us into the likeness of the Lord Jesus Christ Who loved the Church so much that He gave His life for us.

• Full maturity and the complete sanctification of each and every believer (spirit, soul, and body) is Paul's earnest desire for all Christians.
• We often use the terms; justification, sanctification, and glorification to explain a believer's initial salvation (justification), ongoing maturity as we walk with the Lord in our lives on earth (sanctification), and the wonderful eternal state in heaven, when we see Jesus and will be like Him (glorification).
• But these terms can also be explained using the three tenses of sanctification. 
• 3. Our complete and final sanctification will only be attained when we take up our eternal position in heaven when, through death or the Rapture, we will reach full and perfect sanctification.

• From that time on, we begin a lifelong process of progressive sanctification as we are changed from glory to glory, into the image and likeness of the Lord Jesus.   

• In this passage, Paul reminded the Thessalonians that the will of God was for their sanctification.
• That you abstain from sexual immorality, is Paul's admonishment, that each of you knows how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour.
• Paul was their 'father-in-the-faith' who knew that God's will for each of His children is their sanctification.
• The positive aspect of sanctification is setting ourselves apart unto God.
• The other side of sanctification is to do with the things we abstain from, such as immorality, lustful passion, and attitudes that reflect the unsaved who do not know God.

• b) progressive salvation/ sanctification?
• The sorrow that leads to salvation is the godly sorrow that brings a carnal believer back into fellowship with the Father and places him back on the path of progressive sanctification.
• This is what leads to the salvation of the soul; the ongoing process of sanctification where we are being conformed into the image and likeness of Christ.
• When a Christian is brought to the place of godly repentance, they will not have the type of regret the unsaved experience, for if we confess our sin, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sin, cleanse us, return us into fellowship with Himself, and set us back on the sanctification pathway.
• God's way challenges sin, brings about repentance without regret, cleanses, forgives, and returns us into His life-giving sanctification highway, while the unsaved are buried in guilt, shame, regret, and remorse, with no forgiveness and a road that leads them to the dungeons of death.

• He came to save us from the PENALTY of sin (at salvation) the POWER of sin (through the process of sanctification), and the PRESENCE of sin (when we are with Him in glory).

• We have clear instructions on how to be saved (justification) and how to live the Christian life (progressive sanctification) and we are expected to obey.

• Would he press on in the sanctification process or would he allow carnality to influence his choice?

• Jesus then gives a beautiful picture of our justification (initial salvation) and sanctification (ongoing walk with the Lord): Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean.
• However, their sanctification walk is filled with mistakes, setbacks, and mis-steps, and the ongoing washing of ones's feet signifies the ongoing process of returning back into fellowship with the Lord.

• Sanctification (the process of salvation or Christian living), is the ongoing work of God in the life of a justified man or woman.
• However, we have a responsibility to produce the fruit of personal righteousness during our Christian life (through a process of sanctification), as we carry out the good work God has prepared for us to do.

• Paul had previously taught them that they were not called to impurity but to sanctification, and anyone who violates these instructions is defying God Himself.

• The Christian is to trust God to carry out the ongoing work of sanctification in our lives so that we are conformed more and more into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ.
• Once we trust God for salvation (where God paid the price our sins), we should then trust God for our sanctification (where God breaks the power of sin in our life).

• He exposes the dangers of allowing partiality to influence our judgement about other people, and teaches on faith and works, justification and sanctification, and the dangers of an unstable mind.

• But to those of us who have been saved through faith, walking in truth and love, and growing in grace through the process of sanctification, it is the power of God.

• It was also for love of the Church, which is His Body, that the Lord Jesus willingly gave up His life, so that she might be set apart, perfected, and changed into His likeness, through a lifelong process of 'sanctification'.

• It is through the unity of the Trinity that we are presented with the many precious promises of our salvation, our sanctification, our glorification, and an eternal heritage that is kept for us in heaven. It is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, together as One Who illuminates our hearts and leads us in the way of righteousness and peace.

• They had not understood that Christ was the fulfilment of the Law on behalf of all who believe in Him for salvation, and that salvation (both our justification and sanctification, as well as our final glorification) is ours by faith in Christ alone and not by works.
• Paul's message in this verse is quite a serious warning to any ministry that is teaching there are extra things that we need to do for our initial salvation or for our ongoing sanctification, for it means that Christ's finished, sacrificial work on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection from the dead was not sufficient for our salvation.

• He chooses us so that we will be conformed into the likeness of Jesus, for He wants all believers to die to their own desires and live for Him alone.But just as there is a balance between God's election and man's free will with respect to justification, there is a similar interplay in the sanctification process.

• Although there is nothing necessarily wrong or sinful when participating in certain ceremonies or eating particular foods, the problem arises when a believer thinks religious rules and regulations must be added to our initial salvation or the ongoing process of sanctification.

• Such a work of the Spirit takes place in the ongoing refining process of sanctification as we die to self, live for Christ, rejoice in the Lord, pray without ceasing, grow in grace, and mature in the faith.

• Second, over time each believer would begin to grow in grace, develop their faith, walk in spirit and truth, and move from spiritual infancy towards spiritual maturity (progressional sanctification).

• However, before detailing the differences between justification, sanctification, propitiation, and a whole host of theological issues, Paul spends the best part of three chapters drumming home the truth - that man is a sinner, at enmity with God, and that the wages of sin is death - not only physical death, but eternal separation from God in the eternal lake of fire.

• For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification. The Lord expects every one of His blood-bought children to live a consecrated life - body, soul, and spirit.
• God's will for all of us is our sanctification.
• He urges us to 'possess our vessel in sanctification and honour.' While sexual union between a man and his wife is a beautiful, holy act, and a God-given gift of grace, we should run from sexual immorality and fornication, for our body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit and the marriage bed should be kept undefiled.
• We are called to sanctification.

• If we live by the Spirit (salvation - born again) let us also walk by the Spirit (sanctification - live our life).

• And so Christ prays for their protection and sanctification so that their future ministry would be effective, for having given them the Word of Truth through His earthly ministry, they were to be the ones that would spread abroad the gospel of God to a world that remained dead in their trespasses and sins: for God loved the world so much that He gave Jesus to be the propitiation for the sin of the whole world.

• He argues that in the light of the amazing grace of God that has been showered upon us all, and the manifold mercies He has poured upon all His children (including our past justification, our ongoing sanctification, and our future glorification), we should live a life that is worthy of our calling.

• Christ died for us, not as an example of what we should do, but as a demonstration of God's unconditional love for us. There is no other way to gain salvation but through faith in Christ. We must never forget that our whole salvation - body, soul, and spirit - our justification, sanctification, and glorification ALL rely on Christ's finished work. 

• Our body should be a consecrated vessel that is holy to the Lord and should be possessed in sanctification and honourably engaged in purity of living.

• But what of sanctification, which is the process of living in this world now?
• Sanctification is a lifelong process that the Holy Spirit carries out in the one that is justified in order to conform us into the image and likeness of the Lord Jesus.
• But unlike justification and glorification, which all believers receive equally, believers actually have a personal choice in the sanctification process.

• From the moment of our salvation, all believers embark on a process of sanctification... as we pursue Christlikeness with enthusiasm, persistence, and patient endurance.
• Although we became positionally perfect the moment we were born-again, sanctification is a lifelong process.

• From the moment of salvation on, we are also going through a continuous process of sanctification as, day by day, we are being made more and more like the Lord Jesus Christ: we are being 'Practically or Progressively Sanctified'.
• By God's grace, the Holy Spirit lives in us and works through us, to complete the good work that He started in our life at salvation. And when we finally go to be with the Lord, we will be finally and fully sanctified: 'Perfect Sanctification'.
• Our positional sanctification guarantees our ultimate, 'Perfect Sanctification'.

• We are going through a day by day process of practical sanctification, where our soul-life is being conformed into the image and likeness of Christ.
• We were POSITIONALLY SANCTIFIED at salvation but are also going through a lifelong PROCESS of PRACTICAL SANCTIFICATION.

• But to us who have been saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and who continue to 'be being saved' through the wonderful, sanctification process of the indwelling Holy Spirit conforming us day by day into the likeness of Christ Jesus our Lord, the message of the Cross is the power of God and the wisdom of God, to Whom be all praise and glory for ever and ever amen.

• The sanctification of a sinner saved by grace is both a specific act of the Holy Spirit that takes place at a moment in time, but it is also an ongoing process that is undertaken by the Holy Spirit in the heart of a believer.
• Positional sanctification takes place at the moment of salvation.
• Progressive sanctification is a lifelong process for the believer, as we continue to grow in grace, mature in the faith, and become gradually conformed into the image and likeness of the lovely Lord Jesus.Positional sanctification happened in the past (the moment we were saved) and progressive sanctification continues in the present, but our full, final, and perfected sanctification will only be completed in the future, when we go to be with the Lord.
• It is not until we all reach unity in the faith, in the knowledge of the Son of God, (either through our physical death or the Rapture of the Church) that we will finally attain to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ, and our sanctification will, at last, be complete.Every one of us that trusts in the Lord for salvation is already sanctified.
• But every believer is also going through a process of practical sanctification, for it is also a maturing in the faith as, day by day, we are being progressively conformed into the lovely image of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.It is through the Word of God that we are sanctified: Sanctify them in the truth, Jesus prayed, Your Word is truth.
• Should we not praise the One Who has sanctified us, is continuing to sanctify us, and will one day bring our sanctification to its full and final completion?

• Yes, He became for us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.

• Having prayed very specifically that the Thessalonian believers would increase in faith, abound in love, and live blamelessly before the Lord, Paul urged each one towards practical sanctification and godly living: For this is the will of God, he writes, even your sanctification that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality.
• Paul particularly mentions that our 'sanctification' is the will of the Lord and it is important to know exactly what he means by 'sanctification'.
• Just as there are three 'tenses' of our great salvation (justification, sanctification, and glorification), so also the Bible identifies three 'tenses' of Sanctification: POSITIONAL sanctification, PRACTICAL or PROGRESSIVE sanctification, and COMPLETED sanctification.
• It is vital to identify the type (or tense) of sanctification to which Paul is referring.
• Another term for 'justification' is 'positional sanctification' and we are positionally sanctified the moment we trust in Christ Jesus as Saviour.
• The context of the verse in question is not positional sanctification but our ongoing, practical, progressive sanctification.
• It is our practical sanctification that Paul is writing about.
• It is our ongoing, practical, progressive sanctification which is God's will for our lives, and Paul calls attention to one specific area that can seriously inhibit our spiritual growth and ongoing sanctification; sexual immorality.
• Every form of sexual immorality or pornography, whether it be heterosexual, homosexual, premarital, or extra-marital sex, is an abomination to the Lord and prevents any form of progressive sanctification.
• Paul is not implying that abstaining from sexual immorality is the only sin that will inhibit the sanctification process.
• Every sinful thought, word, or deed erects a barrier to our spiritual growth and wreaks havoc on our practical sanctification.

• The more a true believer is being conformed into the image and likeness of Christ through the process of ongoing sanctification, the greater will be his love towards his brother - and his enemy.

• He details our ongoing sanctification, as we mature in the faith, grow in grace and learn more of Jesus.

• In His mercy and grace, God chose us for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit, by trusting the Word of God, hearing the truth, and believing it.

• We are to die to self, grow in grace, and mature in the faith so that the indwelling Holy Spirit may work in and through us to the glory of God the Father (our sanctification).

• But disciples are believers who move to the next level of faith, living life by faith, through a process of progressive sanctification.

• When a Christian reverts from grace to law, their spiritual growth and the sanctification process is hindered and halted.

• Christ has taken the responsibility of both our initial justification and progressive sanctification upon Himself.

• Paul lays out the most comprehensive and thorough presentation of the gospel over the next few chapters of this glorious epistle, unfolding the pivotal doctrines of justification, and sanctification for all, who by grace through faith will trust in Christ as their sin-substitute.

• And packaged in our great salvation, is not only justification (when we first believed) but sanctification (as we grow in grace throughout our Christian life) and also glorification (when Jesus returns to take us to be with Himself in heaven).
• Today, we are called of Jesus Christ to sanctification; to grow spiritually in the grace of God and to become mature believers who are rooted and grounded in Christ. This cannot be done in our own might or power, but only as we willingly submit to the guiding hand of the indwelling Spirit of God.

• I am the one Who heals your soul - through the sanctification process, as you walk in faith and grow in grace - ONGOING salvation.  I am the one Who heals your body - at the Rapture of the church and resurrection of the dead-in-Christ - FUTURE salvation.

• It was the gospel (good news) of salvation by grace through faith in Christ (justification) and it was the gospel (good news) of life and liberty in Christ (sanctification) and not the legalistic bondage suffered under the Law and the curse that brings in it wake.

• Christ had set apart this little group of men to be His witness to the world that Christ died for our sins, that He was buried, and on the third day rose from the dead so that all who believe on Him might not perish but be given His life and be conformed into His likeness through the process of sanctification.
• Sanctification is not sinless perfection for the sinless Son of Man sanctified Himself unto God.

• The consolation and 'salvation' in this verse is in connection with the Christian's sanctification process... in which we are given spiritual strength and godly help to press forward to the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
• Just as the sufferings of Christ brought salvation (justification) and comfort to those who believe - so too the suffering and pain that we endure for the sake of righteousness, will be beneficial for the sanctification and comfort of others in their spiritual growth.

• It is justification, sanctification, glorification, and eternal union with Christ Jesus our Lord.

• Let us never forget that the gospel of Christ is for us wisdom, power, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.

• It is by faith we were justified and by faith we are going through a process of sanctification, as we are conformed into the likeness of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• Either we are slaves of sin, impurity, and lawlessness, or we are slaves of righteousness, life, and truth, which is the path that leads us into sanctification (the lifelong process of being conformed into the likeness of Christ Jesus our Lord).
• Just as we once presented our members (our bodies) as slaves to impurity and lawlessness, which simply leads to more and more lawlessness, so now as believers we are to present our members as slaves to righteousness, which leads to sanctification.

• Progressive sanctification takes place in the lives of all believers, as we are conformed into the image and likeness of the lovely Lord Jesus, until we are fully sanctified; spirit, soul, and body, when we finally go to be with Him.
• This letter is about the sanctification and fellowship a believer can enjoy when they are walking in spirit and truth and not living a carnal lifestyle.

• This sanctification process, starts at rebirth, when we are born of the Spirit, through faith in Christ.
• Only God can continue His work of sanctification during our earthly life, and only He can finish the good work He started, when we were declared righteous, by faith – for in no sense can a man make himself perfect - for by works of the flesh will no man living be justified, sanctified, or glorified.
• What of our sanctification?
• Only He can bring His work to its final conclusion when we will receive our glorified bodies, and only HE can continue the ongoing work of sanctification that brings a baby Christian to spiritual maturity. We are not required to do anything to get saved or remain saved..
• It is by grace alone through faith, that we were redeemed from the slave-market of sin, and He alone can work the works of God in our earthy life in the ongoing process of sanctification.
• We were not in a position to do anything to be justified or glorified in God's eyes, nor are we in a position to carry out the progressive work of sanctification, which is needed if we are to grow from Christian infancy to spiritual adulthood.
• Am I to sit and twiddle my thumbs and not be involved in the sanctification of my soul, during my earthly life?

• Once we have been placed in Christ by grace through faith... and positionally sanctified and set apart unto Him, we are to continue in our day-to-day spiritual battle by participating in a progressing, practical, ongoing sanctification process.

• Our current sanctification does not depend on our merit.

• He leads us through the doctrines of predestination, election, justification, sanctification, the old sin nature and the new creation in Christ, the flesh and the spirit, law and grace.

• Areas such as our new birth and the deity of Christ together with the subjects of our justification, sanctification, growing in grace, and our Christian development, are areas that both apostles taught in their writings, together with Christ's sinless life and His eternal power.

• Paul's condemnation of the legalisers in Galatia was a very stern warning to which we too should all pay careful heed, for if adherence to Jewish laws or any other form of eastern, western, or denominational legalism is an additional requirement for justification, sanctification, or glorification, it renders the Cross superfluous.

• This glorious 'conforming into the image' is accomplished through sanctification, which is carried out in two beautiful ways:Firstly: By the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives at initial salvation.
• As we journey through life we are going through a process of sanctification which is only finally completed when we go to be with Jesus and see Him as He is.
• The sanctification process starts at our point of rebirth, and depends on the choices that we make in our Christian life, whether we live as unto the Lord and die to self, OR live to the flesh and please our carnal nature.
• We are eternally secure, but our lifelong sanctification process will have a different result in every believer.
• Unlike sanctification, there is no process in our justification and glorification, but this is the position we are given the moment we believe in His name: For these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. 

• Praise God that the certain consequence of our identification with Christ's death and Resurrection by faith is our full and final sanctification: spirit, soul, and body. 

• It covers areas such as regeneration, justification, sanctification, glorification, propitiation, adoption, predestination, and many other doctrinal truths that had been hidden from past generations.

• Our position in Him also needs to be worked out practically; a practical sanctification that needs to take place in our everyday life and living.
• Our positional sanctification took place the moment that we were saved, and from that moment onward we were reckoned by God to be as righteous as Christ, however, practically we are not yet sanctified.
• Practical sanctification is the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in our life as He conforms us day by day into the image and likeness of Christ, as we read the Word, study the Word, learn the Word, and apply the Word in our everyday lives.
• Practically we know that sin works within our members every day of our life, but the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer is to bring us to practical sanctification.
• Practical sanctification does not happen automatically.

• After salvation, throughout our entire Christian life, our soul is being made new through a process of practical sanctification... as day by day our soul-life is gradually being conformed into the image and likeness of the Lord Jesus as we grow in grace and mature in the faith.
• We are saved, spirit (at salvation), soul (through the process of sanctification), and body (at the Rapture).
• Our justification (spiritual salvation), sanctification (soul's salvation), and glorification (bodily salvation), is 'yes' and 'amen' in Christ Jesus our Saviour.

• He provides redemption, sanctification, justification, and ultimately glorification.

• Just as we trusted Jesus for our salvation by faith, let us continue to trust Him for our sanctification by faith.

• As believers, we have been given many precious promises - not only those that relate to our justification but also promises in connection with our sanctification.
• At salvation, we were transferred from the kingdom of Satan in the kingdom of God, but as born-again children of God, we also have many promises connected with our ongoing, lifelong sanctification.
• The process of sanctification starts the moment we are saved by grace through faith in Christ and continues to our life's end.
• And here in the book of Timothy, we find that this teaching from Paul is about our ongoing sanctification and spiritual maturity.
• Because we are identified with his life, we are being saved from the power of sin throughout our Christian life - through the ongoing process of sanctification.
• We can be saved by grace through faith (justification) while being denied the wonderful reward that we have been promised when we suffer for His sake (through the sanctification process).

• While every believer is positionally sanctified, Paul knew that during our earthly walk, every believer is in a process of progressive sanctification - which occurs when we are walking in spirit and truth, abiding in Christ, submitted to the Spirit of God, and learning to grow in grace, through the chastening work of God in our lives.

• But now he had a godly jealousy for their sanctification and purity so that he might present each of them to the Lord Jesus as a chaste virgin, when they go to be with the Lord.
• This godly jealousy for the sanctification of all believers should be the dear desire in the hearts of all of us.

• Everyone who is justified is called to spiritual maturity through a life-process of sanctification.
• Everyone who is saved is POSITIONALLY sanctified, but they should also travel along a path of PROGRESSIVE sanctification.

• We are to work out our own salvation (our sanctification) through a dedicated study and application of God's Word.

• He gives meticulous insight into justification, sanctification, propitiation, and many other important doctrinal issues, and uses Abraham as his object lesson that the righteous man shall live by faith in the written Word of God, and the object of that faith is Jesus Christ, the righteous.

• It replaces the confidence that must be placed in Christ's finished work on the Cross with trust in our own prideful performance for both our initial justification and ongoing sanctification.

• Justification, like sanctification, is a gift of grace.

• Just as we were saved by the grace and power of God, so also, we are to be established by that same grace and power, through the ongoing process of sanctification.

• Having been credited with His righteousness by faith (justification) we are also to live by faith (sanctification)... for we read that the righteous shall live by faith as well as being saved through faith.
• But from this point on, they needed daily cleansing throughout the ongoing sanctification process - just as we do.

• Paul knew that like every other believer, his sanctification was a lifelong process which would only be completed when he finally stood in the presence of Christ Jesus, his risen, ascended, glorified Lord.
• Sanctification is a lifelong process for all believers and like Paul, none of us can boast that we have obtained all that God wants to do in our lives, for we each have our own special place of service and we each have our own personal goal that has been established by Christ.

• The finished work of Christ does not only refer to our initial salvation when we first believed, and ongoing sanctification throughout our earthly life, but Christ's work at Calvary incorporates our final glorification the redemption of our bodies, when Christ returns to claim the Church as His Bride – the time when we are officially adopted as sons of God.

• In Christ there is sanctification, glorification, and a joint heir-ship with the Son of the most High God.

• His death unto sin became our death unto sin and His resurrected life became our new resurrected life in Christ so that with Paul we can say: It is not I that lives but Christ that lives in me, so that having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and eternal life.

• They were incapable of growing into mature men and women of God, unless they changed their ways, became spiritually alert, and began a progressive move towards sanctification.

• But Christ is also our sanctification, for through His life and death He sanctified Himself so that we also may be sanctified by the truth. 

• We are commissioned to tell those in need of salvation, that all obstacles that separate sinful man from a holy God were dismantled by the Cross of Christ so that all who remain alienated from their Redeemer God through pride or ignorance, foolishness of folly, carnality or unbelief, heathenism or rebellion, may hear the wonderful news of salvation, sanctification, glorification, and eternal life - and be reconciled back to our Heavenly Father.

• The Judaisers of Paul's day and the religious legalists of today who insist that salvation, justification, and sanctification, must include certain legalistic practices and religious rites may have good intentions, but they are teaching a false and dangerous gospel.

• The apostle Paul gave us greater understanding of justification, sanctification, glorification, and the wonders of the permanently indwelling Spirit of God.
• He gave us insight into positional sanctification and progressive sanctification.

• Paul instructed the Corinthians by telling them, Therefore dear friends, since we have such promises, we should wash ourselves clean from every impurity of the flesh and spirit, making our sanctification complete in the fear of God.
• Indeed, we are sinners saved by grace, who are going through a beautiful sanctification process, which will continue throughout our entire, earthly walk.
• It is as we grow in grace, mature in the faith, abide in Christ and He in us, that we are making our sanctification complete.
• At the moment of our salvation, we were given all we need for life and godliness, and our sanctification will be finalised at the Rapture of the Church, when the dead in Christ are raised.
• But as we travel through life, we are to make our sanctification complete by actively depending on Him in all things..
• Practical sanctification is a vital part of our Christian growth.
• Progressive sanctification is part of our spiritual development, where we are being conformed, day by day, into the image and likeness of the lovely Lord Jesus Christ.
• God has given to all who are saved, by grace through faith in Christ, many precious promises that are all yes and amen in Him - and He has exalted His Word of truth above His holy name, Therefore dear friends, since we have such promises, we should wash ourselves clean from every impurity of the flesh and spirit, making our sanctification complete in the fear of God.

• The Word of God gives us clear teachings on salvation, justification, sanctification, propitiation and many other important Christian doctrines, and the Bible also give us clear and godly principles on how to live the Christian life in a manner that is pleasing to God and in a way that honours His name

• Much of his teaching is linked with our progressive sanctification, maturing in the faith, and growing in grace.

• Our past redemption, our present sanctification, and our future glorification is ours through Christ Who loved us and gave Himself for us.

• And in Roman chapters 6 to 8, Paul gently guides us through the lifelong process of progressive sanctification.
• Every believer is holy unto the Lord at salvation... and from that moment, we embark on a lifelong process of sanctification, (practical or progressive sanctification) as the indwelling Holy Spirit works in our life to gradually change us, so that we become more like the Lord Jesus, Himself.
• Well, Paul tells us that the secret of progressive sanctification is to KNOW the truth... RECKON it to be true... and YIELD one's life to the Holy Spirit.
• But unlike justification, which takes place at the moment of salvation and is not repeatable... ongoing sanctification is a day by day attitude of life where we allow the Word of God to dwell in us richly and to wash us clean with His cleansing flood.

• There are three distinct parts to salvation: 1) justification 2) sanctification 3) glorification. 
• Sanctification is the lifelong process which is also carried out by grace through faith... where we are enabled, by the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit within, to progress from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity.
• Any rewards we receive at the Bema Seat judgement are based on our sanctification walk.
• progressive sanctification.
• We ARE BEING saved as we grow in grace, day by day, and become more like Christ (progressive sanctification).
• Past salvation, progressive sanctification, and our future glorification is by grace alone - through faith alone in Christ, alone.

• Christ not only died for sin - for our justification, but He died unto sin - for our sanctification.

• His epistle to the Romans has been argued to contain the most thorough treatise on every aspect of our initial justification, ongoing sanctification, and future glorification, together with the most comprehensive directive on the godly behaviour and personal conduct given to the Body of Christ.

• It happens when we place our faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ our Saviour, but from that moment onwards, we begin the lifelong process of progressive sanctification.
• However, the process of sanctification will not cease: Until we all come to the harmonious state of Christian unity, spiritual maturity, and Christlike conformity - when we see Him as He is.

• As Christian who are maturing in the faith, we proceed from the glory of justification through the many stages of sanctification, until we finally arrive at our heavenly glorification; spirit, soul, and body, when at last we shall be with the Lord Jesus forevermore.

• Salvation in all its guises comes through Christ alone, for He was appointed by the Father of love, to fulfil God's wonderful plan of salvation through the justification, sanctification, and glorification of ALL - who simply trust in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• Having been justified by faith in Christ, he was keen to ensure that these believers progressed towards spiritual maturity - through the lifelong process of sanctification by faith - and in the power of the Spirit.
• He longed that they were strengthened in their hearts and blameless in their living... and so we read that Paul prayed earnestly for them, night and day: That every one of them should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour (not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles..
• And so Paul encouraged each one to possess his vessel in sanctification, so that their outward behaviour reflected a life that was being progressively sanctified and becoming increasingly Christlike.
• When a life is under the control of the Spirit of God and maintaining fellowship with our Heavenly Father, we are enabled to possess his vessel in sanctification and to the honour of the God of our salvation.

• The message of the Cross continues to cut to the quick of the self-righteous, self-centred, self-confident, self-seeking believer in their impossible attempts at self-sanctification, rather than being Christ-centred, trusting in Christ's-righteousness, and maintaining a confidence in Christ's finished work alone.
• His death paid the price for our sins and the gift of His resurrected life is the power of God for our justification, as well as the ongoing process of lifelong sanctification for all who trust in His name.

• As we journey through life, we go through the process of ongoing sanctification as we grow in grace and in a knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

• To be justified in God's sight is a onetime occurrence but sanctification is the process of a lifetime, and all believers, especially new Christians, need the right teaching if they are to develop into healthy believers.

• Salvation is often an umbrella term and covers justification, forgiveness, sanctification, glorification, redemption, reconciliation, and propitiation.

• Just as our salvation consists of justification (past), sanctification (ongoing), and glorification (future), so there are identifiable points in Satan's defeat until his sentence is taken to its final completion.

• The last three statements are connected with our post-salvation sanctification.
