• was the initial response of Nathaniel when he first heard of Jesus, for this little, insignificant, Galilean town was despised – but how different Nathaniel’s post-resurrection realisation..

• That death is the death of an old creation, and the resurrection is of something that is not the resuscitation of an old creation, but the resurrection of something wholly of God.

• He knew that in laying down His perfect life voluntarily, He would be raised again. He knew that His death and resurrection would bring many sons to glory. He knew the cross was before the crown – the church age was before the kingdom.

• Our old man' must be crucified with Christ, and in His resurrection we find the roots of our new life.

• And though there were to be further disclosures to be revealed after Christ's Resurrection and Ascension, it was not until the full counsel of God was revealed through Paul and recorded in the Word of God, that they fully understood: That because I live you will live also.

• We are all born dead in trespasses and sins, but when we recognise our sinfulness and our need of a Saviour, and when we trust in the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Kinsman-Redeemer, the Holy Spirit breathes into our beings the very life of our living and resurrected Saviour and we become a new creation in Christ.

• His Resurrection from the dead imputes His resurrected life into those that are His; for His eternal life is a free gift of God's grace, through faith in Him.

• Remaining in Christ or abiding in Him, was a theme that the Lord Jesus introduced to His disciples just before His death and Resurrection, and it is a subject that is picked up by Paul and is evident within each of his letters.

• and despite Old Testament teachings on the bodily resurrection, they ridiculed the possibility of the resurrection of the dead.
• They demanded to know: Whose wife would she be in the resurrection?
• Their aim was to make a mockery of the doctrine of the resurrection and to cause Jesus to appear foolish and uneducated.

• I AM the Resurrection and the Life.

• While He was in the world the Lord Jesus remained the Light of the world, but those who have been born from above have been instructed to walk in the light as He is in the light, and have been given the responsibility to be salt and light in a fallen world by pointing the way to Christ.God's Word of truth continues to unfold Christ's Light into our hearts and into the lives of those who have trusted His sacrificial work on the Cross and glorious Resurrection.

• Originally, this was a proclamation to the nation of Israel in the Old Testament which was reiterated to the men of Israel in the book of Acts... following Christ's Resurrection from the dead.

• All who have trusted in the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus as Saviour, and His glorious Resurrection from the dead, have this special relationship with our Lord, for the Church has been chosen to be His Bride.

• Sadly, this is what happened at Corinth to such a great extent... that the foundational facts of their faith in Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection became so distorted that the saints had started to deny the likelihood of their own resurrection from the dead.
• Although they did acknowledge that there was some form of life after death... they had started to suggest that there would be no bodily resurrection from the grave.
• They did not believe in the physical resurrection of the body - as is falsely taught in certain cults today.
• These misguided Christians bought into the satanic lie that there is no physical resurrection from the dead, and though some may have believed in some type of spiritual afterlife - Paul found it necessary to cover this unbiblical error in great detail in 1st Corinthians 15 - which is often called the Resurrection Chapter.
• And just as we are identified with Christ's death, so we are identified with His bodily Resurrection.
• Paul pointed out that believing on Christ's Resurrection is foundational to their faith - and because He lives, we too will live, in newness of life.
• Praise God that Christ's Resurrection is not a fairy story but an historical fact that was witnessed by many hundreds of people.
• Let us give thanks that He is the first-fruits of those who are asleep in Christ - for since by a man (the first Adam) came death, by a Man (Christ Jesus our Lord - the last Adam) came also the resurrection of the dead.
• Let us study the truth of God's Word and read this amazing fifteenth chapter of 1 Corinthians, and let us discover the wonders of the bodily resurrection that is ours in Christ.

• God purposed in His plan that Christ must first come to save His people from their sin, through His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension, BEFORE He could smash in pieces the kingdoms of this world system.
• He knew that His anointed Messiah would be born into the human race as a babe in Bethlehem and be despised and rejected at His first advent, God knew that Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection would secure salvation for all who believe.

• But how gracious Jesus was to these two troubled souls, for He then opened up the Scriptures to them and gave them an exclusive Bible study on His mission and ministry, His Person and Work, His death and His Resurrection, and God's entire plan of salvation for the redemption of mankind.

• If salvation is gained any way other than by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, then Christ died in vain!

• Because of the fall, man was eternally separated from God, and it was only by means of His gracious act of divine intervention (by means of the death, burial, and Resurrection of the eternal Son of God) that man can be delivered from the domain of darkness over which Satan, the god of this world, exercises his satanic rule.
• But by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, God delivered us from the domain of darkness: And transferred us into the kingdom of His beloved Son.

• However, believing Jews, both before the Cross and following Christ's Resurrection, are all called 'the Israel of God'.Physical circumcision was given as a sign from God to the nation of Israel through their founding fathers and is a product of the FLESH.

• In his earlier letter to the Corinthians, Paul set out a most comprehensive treatise on the resurrection of the body and life everlasting for all who are positioned in Christ.
• But as new creatures in Christ we have the assurance of our bodily resurrection, a house in heaven not made by hands, a dwelling-place that is not part of the old, fallen creation, but a perfect dwelling-place where will live eternally with our heavenly Saviour.

• It was at that time that the Lord Jesus began in earnest to prepare His little band of faithful followers for His shocking betrayal, false accusations, unjust trial, cruel death, and glorious Resurrection.Over and again, His disciples failed to comprehend the serious nature of Christ's repeated prediction of His fast-approaching betrayal and death, and it became necessary for Jesus to speak plainly about the severe self-discipline His followers would require if they were to stand fast in the evil day and not be sifted as wheat by the enemy, nor emotionally tossed about by the terrible things they were soon to face.A simple, immovable, childlike faith in Christ Who had come as God's anointed King, His promised Messiah, and Kinsman-Redeemer, was essential as the days grew darker: Whoever receives Me, Jesus said, receives Him Who sent Me.Petty differences of colour or creed were to be laid aside, and a unity in the faith was to be established by those who acknowledged Jesus as Lord.

• After Christ's death and resurrection, God set Israel aside for a season and began to govern the affairs of humanity through the Church.

• Both groups of Jews remained separate from one another before Christ's crucifixion, but having become believers, they united together as one Body, following His Resurrection. 

• They will take part in the FIRST resurrection – the resurrection of all believers.
• However, all those who rejected God’s offer of salvation before the Cross and throughout the Church-age, as well as during the 7-year Tribulation, will be confined in hell for a further 1000 years and must partake in the SECOND resurrection – the terrible resurrection of all unbelievers at the Great White Throne of the living God, which will result in eternal separation from God.Let us increase our efforts to tell the good news of the gospel of Christ to as many as we can, before the great and terrible Day of the Lord, for the Word of God through the revelation of Jesus Christ will not fail.

• We should also not be ignorant about believers whose eyes have closed in death, nor of the return of the Lord, the Rapture of the Church, and the resurrection of the Body that will one day happen to all that have fallen asleep in Him.
• Old Testament saints had an incomplete understanding of death and resurrection, for only until Christ had fully and finally broken the power of death at Calvary and triumphed over sin and Satan, was the power of death broken and the sting of death removed.
• Like Christians in the early Church, we also need to know that there is a resurrection unto life for the believer, and a resurrection unto death for those that have rejected God's gracious offer of salvation by grace through faith in Christ.
• We need to know that there is a God-ordained order in the resurrection, with Christ being the first-fruit from the dead.
• Christ was raised as the first of the resurrection harvest, then all who belong to Christ will be resurrected when he returns for His Church: The dead in Christ will be raised first and then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
• The resurrection of the unbeliever is a terrifying prospect, but will not occur until the millennial reign of Christ has ended.

• He illuminates our minds with truth, inspires our heart with spiritual understanding and gives godly discernment to all who have been saved by trusting in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• But elsewhere we read that no other sign would be given to this generation except the sign of the prophet Jonah; three days and three nights in death followed but a miraculous resurrection.

• And Paul also mentions the astonishing and immediate judicial changes that take place in the life of every man and woman, who trusts in the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Saviour Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting.

• It caused these believers to fear that the Day of the Lord had already started and that the Antichrist was in their midst, without the promised resurrection of Church-age saints and the Rapture of living believers having taken place, as Paul had originally taught them.
• Paul had taught them that Rapture of Church-age Christians (which included both the resurrection of Christians who had died and the catching away of Christians who were still alive), would happen before the Day of the Lord because God did not appoint us to suffer His wrath which is to be out-poured at the beginning of the Day of the Lord.

• The unfolding story of redemption only comes to full fruition with the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of Christ, but New Testament truth is firmly rooted in the Old Testament Scriptures.

• And His Resurrection became our resurrection; we received a new life in Christ and became a member of God's new creation.

• Not only was the penalty for our sin paid in full, by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, but also its suffocating power has been broken.
• He not only caused us to become new creatures, by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, but supplied us with good seed to sow into the lives of those who do not know His goodness and grace – and then to carry out His own good work in our lives, through the power of His indwelling Holy Spirit.Paul rejoices that God is able to make all grace abound to us so that always having sufficiency in everything, we have an abundance for every good deed, and he reinforces this truth by quoting from the Psalmist: He scattered abroad.

• We do not have to undertake the annual cleansing rituals as laid out in the Law of Moses, but we do have to purify our hearts before the Lord - and we do this by trusting in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin, and by living each day in a way that honours His name.

• The Son of God was born into the human race that He Himself created, in order to carry out the will of the Father: that whosoever believes on His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection for the forgiveness of sins, might have eternal life and become ministers of reconciliation to a lost and dying world.

• Despite the inexhaustible testimony of the Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms, and in-spite of all His signs, miracles, wonders, and glorious Resurrection from the dead, many religious leaders in that day, refused to believe in Him.

• Paul was writing to allay the fear that they had somehow missed the resurrection of the dead and the gathering together of Christ's Church-age saints to Himself - the Rapture.
• At the start of chapter 2, Paul identifies the topic under discussion - the resurrection of the dead in Christ and the Rapture of the Church: The coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to Him.

• Just as Israel must wait for God's timing, so we must wait for the Rapture of the Church and the resurrection of the saints, which will take place in God's time and in His way!

• We are saved by grace through faith in the sacrificial work and glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ - and this is non negotiable.

• But after the Cross, at the close of His earthly sojourn, with its humiliation and sufferings, came Christ's Resurrection, Ascension, and Glorification, and with it came: An eternal weight of glory. 
• That I may know CHRIST, and the power of His Resurrection.

• Paul reminds the Corinthian believers of our blessed hope in Christ and opens our understanding to the resurrection of the dead and the certainty of our own resurrection, because Christ rose from the dead.

• The disciples had to move from a pre-Cross perception to a post-Resurrection understanding.

• Sinners are saved from the penalty of sin by God's grace, once and for all, through trusting in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ for salvation, but believers must mature in the faith and continue the process of ongoing salvation.

• Our Kinsman-Redeemer, Who has rescued us from our sins and seated us together with Himself in heavenly places as sons of God and joint-heirs with Christ, is currently seated on the right hand of the Majesty on high, interceding for you, praying for me, defending His children from the accusations of the enemy, and protecting the Church, which is His Body, with His never-ending intercessions to the Father.Christ ever lives and Christ ever intercedes – for He has power to save through the merit of His atoning work on the cruel Cross of Calvary and His glorious Resurrection.

• We are born from above, and until the day when we go to be with Jesus, we sojourn on earth within our fallen body, waiting for that great day of resurrection when this mortal body will be clothed with immortality and this perishable body will be replaced with an imperishable one.

• This has become part of that never-ending hymn of praise that is sung by all who have been saved by grace, through faith in His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection.

• Despite preparing His disciples for His forthcoming death and Resurrection, Christ's followers were filled with excited anticipation about the coming kingdom.

• Jesus Christ paid the price for every sin we committed, and He took the punishment for every broken Law through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• The glorious gospel of salvation, by grace through faith in the sacrificial death and wonderful Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, should delight the worst of sinners.
• This was the antithesis of the gospel they were called to teach, where there is neither Jew nor Gentile but One New Man In Christ - One Body of people who trust in Christ's death and Resurrection for salvation.

• Paul's life certainly demonstrated one who was filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions, no wonder he penned those poignant words: That I may know Christ and the power of His Resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering.

• Despite all that Jesus had taught the apostles during His earthly ministry, and even though He opened the prophetic Scriptures to their understanding following His glorious Resurrection, these disciples still held tightly to their limited perspective and biased understanding of what the Messiah would do and when He would set up His kingdom.
• The teachings He gave, together with many prophetic Scriptures, should have prepared them for all the events that took place during those astonishing post-resurrection days, but first, they were to be baptised into the Body of Christ, and empowered and taught by the indwelling Holy Spirit.
• The self-same Jesus Who came to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself on the Cross, and to break the power of death by means of His glorious Resurrection, will appear a second time without sin.

• This man was being called upon to prepare the way of the Lord, in the Gentile cities of the region, for a day was coming when Christ would lovingly stretch out His arms, as the sacrifice for the sin of the whole world, and welcome ALL who would believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• Unlike the apostles who accompanied Jesus throughout His earthly 'pre-Cross' ministry, beginning with the baptism of John, Paul was called to be an apostle by Christ following His 'post-Cross' Resurrection, Ascension, and Glorification.

• Jesus is the rightful King over all the earth, for His redeeming blood paid the purchase price for lost humanity, and in His goodness and grace, He has appointed all who believe in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, to rule and reign with Him in His coming kingdom.

• Although as Christians we have been saved by grace through faith in Christ and made part of the new creation, we continue to live in a fallen, 'earthy' body of flesh and blood and await that day when we will be fully and finally 'adopted' as glorified sons of God with a new body of flesh and bone, made like unto Christ's resurrection body.

• New Testament saints are those who have lived by faith since the Cross and Resurrection.

• He was the Resurrection, the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

• We stand in awe as we contemplate that it pleased the Lord to bruise Him, for by the suffering and death of his beloved Son and His resurrection to life ALL who would believe on His name would be redeemed.

• It is not knowing about the Lord Jesus but believing in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection for the salvation of our soul that is necessary.
• He is the same One Who is declared the Son of God with power and great glory, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.

• But it is also God who instils a deep hunger in the heart of the Christian and so, like Paul, they reach a point in their lives when they too cry out: That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death. And the one who has been saved by grace through faith begins to learn that salvation is not only that exciting point of rebirth into the family of God, but is also a long and often difficult journey through life, where faith is tried and tested and God is proved to be faithful once again.

• But God in His grace, purposed in His heart to redeem His fallen creation (through the Person of Jesus Christ), to breathe His eternal life back into His New Creation in Christ (through faith in His sacrificial work on Calvary and glorious Resurrection), to reinstate His own image and likeness into the heart of man (reflecting the glory of the Lord by being transformed into His image, from glory to glory).

• And the Law always points to Christ Who is the only One Who can save by grace through faith in His death, burial, and Resurrection.

• Abraham looked forward to the day when God's promised Saviour would come, while we look back to Christ's sacrificial death on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection.
• Yes, it is through faith in His sacrificial crucifixion and glorious Resurrection from the dead that we have been justified; it is by God's grace through faith that we are been justified, just as Abraham was justified by grace through faith in Him.

• The final Passover Lamb had been offered through the Person and work of Christ, and His Resurrection from the dead fulfilled many of the prophetic writings that pointed to their Jesus as their Messiah-King. 

• It should be a joy for every Christian to rejoice together in the simple message of salvation, by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.It was the uncomplicated message of redemption that Jude planned to share with fellow believers in Christ, when he started to pen his epistle.

• It was the eternal Son Who carried out the plan of redemption by means of His birth into the human race, His perfect life, His sacrificial death, and His glorious Resurrection from the dead.
• But Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection was the one and only price that a holy and just God could accept in full payment for sin.

• Sinners who believe in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ as their sin-substitute have the resurrected life of Christ within, and nothing can alter their eternal destiny.

• Like Paul, we too can know Christ and the power of His Resurrection.

• And yet, it is through Israel that all the families of the earth are blessed because Jesus, God's only begotten Son, is the promised Jewish Messiah Who was sent to save His people from their sin and Whose death, burial, and Resurrection paid the price for the sin of the world; for whosoever would believe on His name.

• The Lord Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life.

• God gives everyone, Jew and Gentile alike, an opportunity to come to know Him as their Father, through the Word of truth and by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

• Paul was a pattern of the 'perfection' to which we must strive - for although we will not be totally conformed to Christ until the resurrection/ rapture, nonetheless, spiritual maturity is attainable and those that are spiritually mature should be willing to suffer and die for Christ, as exemplified by Paul.

• In this Church age, salvation is ours by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

• Many of these early Jewish Christians had lived under the pre-Cross dispensation of Law before moving into the post-Resurrection dispensation of Grace, and they had to come to terms with the inevitable change from the Old, Mosaic Covenant to the New Covenant that had been cut through the shed blood of Christ on the Cross.
• None of the warnings threaten believers with loss of salvation, as some people teach, because we are saved by grace through faith in Christ's sacrificial offering of Himself on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection; we can do nothing to receive salvation and we can do nothing to keep our salvation.

• Christ's gained a triumphant victory over sin and death on the Cross, which climaxed with His glorious resurrection from the dead, and this verse gives insight into what His glorious resurrection means for all who are in Christ.
• The sting of death has been removed for all who trust in His name, and the grave has been robbed of its victory by the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of our God and Saviour.

• We are so familiar with the glorious Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, through which we who believe have received His resurrected life, that we often lose the poignancy of the event.
• They had forgotten that the Son of Man had talked of His death and Resurrection while they were still in Galilee.
• The bitter trial they underwent was momentary but the recompense they received was eternal life, as it is for all who trust in His sacrificial work and glorious Resurrection.
• Christ identified with us in His death so that we are identified with His glorious Resurrection.

• Through Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, Jew and Gentile alike have been untied together as one, putting to death forever the enmity that once existed.

• We were buried with Him and raised with Him into newness of life at His Resurrection.

• It is faith in the finished work of Christ on the Cross for the forgiveness of sin, and His glorious Resurrection from the dead that saves mankind from their sin. 

• However, it was during the final few weeks before His crucifixion that Jesus started preparing His disciples for His death, Resurrection, Ascension, and Day of Pentecost together with the coming of the Holy Spirit to indwell the Church during a new dispensation - the dispensation of the Grace of God.
• He claimed to be the Resurrection and the Life and manifested His authority over life, death, disease, nature, and the very demons of hell.

• Peter used the Hebrew Scriptures to attest to the truth that Jesus is God's Messiah and cited His glorious Resurrection as biblical proof, for it was impossible for Christ to be held captive by death, because death is inconsistent with deity, for within Himself is life-eternal.
• The suffering of God's chosen Servant was well documented in the Scriptures, as was His glorious Resurrection and Ascension into heaven, for it was foretold by prophets of old including Israel's great patriarch, King David.
• Not only were the apostles among the many eye-witnesses of the resurrected Christ during those 40 days between His Resurrection and Ascension, but the crowds in Jerusalem who were listening to the blistering truth from Peter's discourse that day, had themselves been spectators to all that had transpired on that momentous Feast of Passover, only fifty days before when the sky turned black for three hours and the veil of the Temple was torn in two from top to bottom, giving all who will believe on Him forgiveness of sin, life everlasting, and access to the heavenly throne of grace.

• The Cross must have appeared to be a huge success to Satan's evil forces, but it was short-lived, for by means of His death, Resurrection, and Ascension, Christ was enabled to proclaim, Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.
• Christ's sacrificial death, glorious Resurrection, and triumphant Ascension into heavenly places, disarmed the principalities and powers of darkness, destroying the one with power over death and dismantling Satan's armies of all their powers.

• It is by grace we are saved, not because of our merit but because of His mercy and love so that by His propitiatory death and Resurrection we too might be made alive together with Him.
• And it is by virtue of His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection that we too have been imputed with His resurrected life and clothed in the righteousness of Christ forever: It is by grace we are saved not of works, lest anyone should boast.
• This is a truth that should rejoice our heart every moment of the day. By virtue of our new birth and spiritual resurrection, we have been placed into an eternal, spiritual union with Christ and been made part of His spiritual Body, which is the Church.

• But the gospel does not end at the Cross, for Christ rose from the dead so that all who have faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection will also rise from the dead into newness of life.
• It appears that Mary Magdalene was one of the women who prepared spices to anoint Christ's body that first Resurrection morn.

• The prophets of old foretold of Christ's death and Resurrection, and Jesus Himself also predicts in a number of places that He would die and rise-again from the dead.
• And here, at the very beginning of His earthly ministry, the Lord prophesied of His own death and Resurrection: Destroy this Temple... He challenged angrily, as He accused the Pharisees of making His Father's house into a den on thieves, ...and in three days I will raise it up again.

• Jesus was perfected by the things that He suffered so that by means of His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, He could become our perfect Saviour.
• Multiple passages tell us that salvation is by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, but here we read that He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey.

• The Resurrection of Jesus Christ was the event that declared Him to be 'The Son of God'. He was the living One Who died, but rose again from the dead.
• It was only after His Resurrection that it could be claimed throughout the universe: Death has been swallowed up in victory.
• He is the Lord Jesus Christ, and the glory the eternal Son shared with the everlasting Father before His incarnation remained His right after His Resurrection, for the Son of God Who died is God the Son Who rose from the dead.
• Only after His glorious Resurrection was Jesus able to say: I am the living One.
• Christ's Resurrection from the dead, ensured that our mortal body could be resurrected from the grave.
• And when we believe in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ, for the forgiveness of sin, we are saved in body and soul, and at the same time we are born from above, receiving the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.
• Without Christ's Resurrection we would be forgiven of our sin, for which we praise His holy name, but we would remain separated from our body forever, for perishable must put on the imperishable and mortal must be clothed with immortality, through faith in Him.
• Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life for ALL who believe on Him.

• Paul reiterated the gospel of Christ crucified, buried, and Resurrected in the closing chapters of first Corinthians, together with a comprehensive treatise on the certainty of our bodily resurrection and the assurance we have in Him that we too have life immortal and will rise from the grave, in the twinkling of an eye, on the day of Christ. 
• Without the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Christian faith would be in vain, for the gospel dictates that Christ died, was buried, and rose again according to the Scriptures, and Paul started to name the many eye-witnesses who met with Jesus following His glorious Resurrection from the dead. 
• We read that all the apostles were eye-witnesses to His Resurrection, and Paul even included himself in that long list of believers who had seen the risen, glorified Lord Jesus Christ, for we read: Last of all, He also appeared to me.
• Judas was not one of the twelve mentioned in this list for he went out and hanged himself and Matthais was chosen by the eleven to take his place, but Peter was the first to be placed on Paul's list as chief eye-witnesses of Christ's glorious Resurrection from the dead.
• Cephas, who had been given the name 'Peter' by the Lord Jesus, was the first name on Paul's list of eye-witnesses of the Resurrection.
• Peter's place on the list of eye-witnesses to the Resurrection was no random choice.

• And Paul further teaches believers how to live godly lives as is fitting for those that are saved by grace through faith in Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• It is through believing on the gospel of Christ (which is the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ alone), that we are saved.

• And there is a further meaning which is connected with the resurrection of the dead, whereby all who have believed by grace through faith are considered to be the first-fruit (for we all belong to the Lord and will all one day be resurrected from the dead), but as Scripture states, this will happen to each person in the proper order.
• Christ was the first-fruit from the dead and those that came out of their grave on that same Resurrection morning are also called 'first-fruit from the dead'. 

• Until then, we proclaim the Lord's death and rejoice in His glorious Resurrection.

• Jesus completed God's gracious revelation to mankind in many ways, but perhaps the most memorable way that Christ unveiled God's name, God's character, and God's attributes was when He said, I AM the good Shepherd; I AM the Vine; I AM the Door; I AM the Bread of Life; I AM the Resurrection; I AM the Way, and the Truth, and the Life, no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.

• That I may know Christ and the power of His Resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering, is the heart cry of all who desire to produce much fruit to the glory of God.

• Following Christ's Resurrection, James, the half-brother of Jesus, believed the gospel of grace and became the leader of the Church in Jerusalem.

• Paul encourages Timothy to flee from evil lusts and to preach the whole council of Christ... and he further expresses his grief over certain men who were distorting the pure gospel of grace and destroying the faith of some by teaching that there was no Resurrection!

• And when we abide in His love and walk in spirit and truth, we truly fulfil the new commandment that the Lord Jesus gave to His disciples, shortly before His death and Resurrection.

• And so for your sake and for mine, the Lord Jesus Christ was led like a lamb to be slaughtered, and like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, Jesus did not open His mouth so that all who believe on Him by grace through faith in His death, burial, and Resurrection would not perish but have everlasting life.

• Just as He used David's sling, Gideon's pots, Balaam's donkey, and the staff of Moses, God used the chains that bound Paul and his imprisonment in Rome as the most effective tool to spread the good news of the death and Resurrection of our Saviour Jesus Christ to many Roman guards.

• There are, of course, certain non-negotiables in Christian doctrine and our walk of faith, such as the deity of Christ and the virgin birth, His incarnation and bodily resurrection, the authority and inerrancy of Scripture, the Tri-unity of the Godhead, the hypostatic union of Christ and His Second Coming, but there are broad Scriptural principles in God's Word that guide us in our daily decisions and personal conduct.

• Having just read of Christ's glorious Resurrection, been introduced to the women who sped to tell the apostles that Jesus is risen from the dead, and having read how Peter immediately rushed to the tomb and was amazed to see nothing but the linen cloth, the scene rapidly changes to two distraught men discussing the shocking events of Christ's death.

• This meant that men of Israel from around the world would hear the wonderful works of God in their own language and be saved by grace through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, their promised Messiah and almighty God.

• Only the death and Resurrection of Jesus is sufficient to pay the full and costly price for the sin of the whole world.

• But on arrival, they discovered that the stone was rolled away from the tomb!As the four Gospel accounts of that glorious Resurrection morning are compared alongside each other, we discover a most beautiful harmony – as the accounts in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John blend beautifully together adding colour and depth to the greatest story every told.

• After His Resurrection, salvation was preached to Gentiles also.

• Having broken the power of death and hell through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, He entered the heavenly holy of holies, the inner sanctuary of God most high, to act as heavenly High Priest for all His blood-bought people.

• From the beginning, the nation of Israel learned about bodily resurrection. Abraham and his seed had been promised an inheritance in Canaan, and Isaiah foretold: Your dead will live.
• She knew her brother would rise again in the resurrection on the last day and then Jesus made his startling claim, I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. 
• However, God has given a divine order to the resurrection:
• Then: Church-age saints are part of 'the First Resurrection to LIFE', and will be resurrected before the 7 year Tribulation.
• This resurrection of Church-age believers is often referred to as the Rapture of the Church: For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
• Then: Old Testament saints and Tribulation saints will be part of 'the First Resurrection to LIFE', at the end of the 7 year Tribulation at Christ's Second Coming.
• Finally: After the 1000 year Millennial Rule of Christ, millennial believers will also become part of 'the First Resurrection of LIFE', but all unbelievers - all who refused God's offer of salvation, throughout the ages, will have to face 'the Second Resurrection'.
• These people will be a part of the terrible Second Resurrection of Judgement: To disgrace and everlasting contempt. John calls this: The Resurrection of Damnation, where the worm will not die and the fire will not be quenched.

• Unlike the rest of Christ's apostles who walked with Jesus throughout His earthly ministry, Paul was called to be God's apostle to the Gentiles following the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Ascension into heaven.Because of Paul's unusual calling and unique ministry, there were many who criticised his teaching and challenged his authority, which is why he so vigorously defended his calling and frequently made reference to the direct revelation he received from the Lord.Here in first Corinthians, Paul found it necessary to severely admonish the believers in Corinth for their disgraceful conduct which discredited the Lord, tarnished their witness, and rendered them carnal Christians and spiritual infants.The unruly disunity, riotous behaviour, greedy indulgence, and disregard for the needs of their brothers and sisters in Christ, was even displayed during the celebration of the Lord's Supper – which Paul had already taught was a time to reflect on the reality of Christ's sacrificial death, until His coming again.And so in this passage, Paul is preparing to criticise and correct the shocking behaviour of these carnally minded believers, by reminding them of his own unique calling and the direct revelation he received from the Lord, which had already been taught to them on an earlier occasion.He reminded them that he had been called personally by God, and delivered a specific message regarding the importance and seriousness of the Lord's Supper, which they were currently disregarding:For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, Paul reminded them, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and gave thanks, and broke it and said, 'This is My body, which is given for you – do this in remembrance of Me.'May we never forget the enormous price that was paid for our redemption, at the Cross.

• Having been saved by grace through faith in Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, we have been fully equipped, by the Holy Spirit, to walk in newness of life - and become men and women with a heart for the Lord and a desire to obey His Word.

• And all were witness to His glorious Resurrection.
• Christ's ministry to Israel was before the Cross, but after the Cross, salvation was open to Jew and Gentile alike and it was by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• But God did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for love of us so that His death would pay the full price of our sin, and through His glorious Resurrection we would become a new creation in Christ; removed from the old creation in Adam, placed into the new creation in Christ, receiving newness of life in spirit, soul, and body.

• They speak of the hope of the Resurrection and the certainty of an eternal heaven and everlasting hell. 

• In the New Testament, we see the Angel of the LORD conversing with the father of John the Baptist, while after Christ's resurrection, many consider that great angel that released Peter from prison to be an appearance of the risen ascended Lord Jesus Christ.
• He upholds all things by the word of His power, and when Jesus made purification of sins, through His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, until that day when He returns to bring all things to their final consummation.

• We are not destined to have God's wrath poured out on us, because we trusted in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ as the payment for our sin.

• The prophecy of the dry bones speaks of a physical restoration of the whole nation of Israel followed by its spiritual resurrection.
• This is a passage about the national resurrection of the whole house of Israel, which will happen at the end of the 'Great Tribulation'.

• He not only longed to know Him in the power of His Resurrection, but also to share with Him in His sufferings and to be continuously transformed by His death.

• It was His sacrificial death that paid the price for the sin of the whole world, and it was His glorious Resurrection that enabled all those that believe on His name to be sanctified and made holy in Him.

• Like Martha and all good Jews, they knew the dead would be raised incorruptible on the last day, so their uncertainty was not related to the doctrine of the general resurrection. 
• But Jesus was not speaking about the general resurrection of all the dead, but a specific and selective Resurrection which would conquer death and hell.
• He was speaking of His own, unique Resurrection from among the dead.
• His Resurrection would be a unique Resurrection, by Whom the power of sin, Satan, death, and hell would be broken in the lives of all who believe.
• Although they had been with Jesus for three years and been given a glimpse of His glory on the holy mount, they had not grasped the enormity of Who He was and what His death and Resurrection would accomplish.

• It was during his second missionary journey, while staying in the city of Athens, that Paul taught certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers about the gospel of God and His great salvation – which is through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.On his arrival at Athens, Paul's spirit was provoked within his breast, when he saw that the city had been given over to the worship of idols and false deities.

• For by faith in His death and Resurrection, the power of sin in their lives had been severed, its deathly consequences had been destroyed, and they had all been set free from the curse of the Law.

• But not many believed the report of his death, burial, and Resurrection, which the apostles started to proclaim to Israel at Pentecost.

• God in His love and justice poured out His undiluted, furious wrath upon His only begotten Son so that whosoever believes in Him, by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, might not perish but have everlasting life.

• He has been expounding the length and breadth and depth and height of the good news of God's grace towards us, and the over-abounding riches we already have in Christ, by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• Let us worship the God who ordained from the beginning His glorious plan of man's salvation by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Saviour Jesus Christ.

• Through this heavenly Person, the glory of the LORD was revealed when Jesus, Son of God and Son of Man, was born into the human race to save His people from their sin.The glory of the Lord was revealed at Christ's First Coming, which resulted in His death, burial, and Resurrection from the dead, through which He made purification for our sins.

• Martha knew that her brother would rise on the day of resurrection, for she believed the holy Scriptures.
• But Martha was not prepared for the shattering words that Christ proclaimed to her as she stood weeping before Him: I am the resurrection and the life, He said to her, He who believes in Me will live, even if he dies.

• The death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ not only secured our justification by faith but also it assures us that we will be delivered from any future wrath of God.

• By His death and Resurrection, the Lord Jesus paid the enormous price for our sins and broke the power of sin and death in our life forever, returning us into fellowship with the Father.

• But through Christ's death and Resurrection, He qualifies Himself as the true Vine Who will bring many sons to glory.

• It is in Him alone that we can live a victorious life and claim a better resurrection in our own spiritual battle, and it is all done by grace through faith in Christ alone.

• They all saw Him die on the Cross and were witnesses of His glorious Resurrection.

• They knew Him to be the resurrection and the life, and that He alone can give light in this dark world and hope to a lost and dying race.

• And we who have trusted in Christ as Saviour and seek to live Spirit-filled godly lives, rejoice with exceeding great joy for the faithful testimony of this little remnant of believing Jews, who were the first to testify of the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world.

• God's wisdom is not available to unbelievers and is also hidden from the angelic rulers of this age, for had they understood the incredible saving power of the Cross to redeem humanity - by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory!

• By His death and Resurrection, He has broken down the middle wall of petition that estranged Jew from Gentile, bringing godly reconciliation and uniting us together in the bond of peace and harmony: For Christ Himself is our peace, Who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall.
• And by His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, the Lord Jesus Christ became our peace from that time forward, uniting His chosen people, Israel, with those who were once considered to be heathen, Gentile dogs.
• Through His death and Resurrection, the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom bringing peace with God for all who believe in Him.
• Through His death and Resurrection, Jesus broke down the middle wall of partition between Jew and Gentile, uniting us together into one Body with one Lord Jesus Christ, one faith in Him for salvation, and one baptism by the Holy Spirit of God into the Body of Christ, which is the Church.

• Thomas made three very bold and bolshie announcements when he was told of Christ's resurrection.

• Was it Christ's prayer on the Cross that delayed the judgement which should have taken place six months after His Resurrection?

• Likewise, as Christians we have to admit our guilt, renounce our idolatry, repent, and recognise that we are sinners who need a Saviour so that by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection we may be cleansed of our wicked ways, forgiven of our sin, washed in His precious blood, declared righteous in the eyes of our heavenly Father, and live a life that is holy unto the Lord.

• But James is also making a contrast between a true believer and one that only makes an outward profession of faith while not having truly trusted in the only object of faith which brings salvation to mankind (the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God and perfect Son of Man).

• For the unbeliever, faith in God is trusting in the death and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus for redemption, trusting Him for the forgiveness of sins.

• The four Gospel writers each gave eyewitness accounts of the Resurrection.
• The pivotal Person in Scriptures is Christ and the crucial fact of Scripture is His Resurrection from the dead.
• The gospel of God stands or falls on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
• The devoted women need not have wondered how they were to remove the heavy stone that first Easter morning, for they were greeted with the joyful resurrection news: He is not here!
• The empty grave-clothes encrusted with a large quantity of embalming myrrh and aloes, gave witness to His glorious Resurrection.
• These faithful and devoted women who had sped eagerly to the tomb that resurrection morning, were encouraged to come and see the place He had lain, before being told to go and tell the other disciples that Jesus had risen from the dead and would meet with them in Galilee in the near future, just as He had already told them!

• It is His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection in which we place our faith, and those who have trusted Christ as Saviour, have been given the indwelling Holy Spirit as God's guarantee that they will also receive a resurrection body.
• Let us have this confidence in Christ today, for His resurrection identified Jesus of Nazareth as the Son of God.
• The Resurrection verified the truth of Scripture and guarantees our own future resurrection.

• He was the Alpha and the Omega Who, through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, became becoming the Federal Head of the new creation of humanity.

• He described the soldiers gambling for His garments, prophesied of the Messiah's resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven, and Him sitting on the right hand of the Father as it was written...

• It stresses that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ alone.

• Christ gained complete victory over sin, death, and Satan through His death, burial, and Resurrection.
• He triumphed over Satan through His death, burial, and Resurrection and only through Him and the spiritual weapons of war that He provides, can we successful wrestle against the evil forces in our world today.

• He wanted to experience the power that came through Christ's Resurrection and he desired to participate in his Saviour's suffering and become like Him in His death.
• ot the substitutionary suffering for the sin of mankind which Christ alone could achieve but Paul was content to suffer for Christ's sake in order that he might attain to the resurrection of the dead.
• His great desire to be like Christ was in order that he might attain to the resurrection of the dead.
• But what did Paul mean when he said, in order that I might attain to the resurrection of the dead? Paul was already saved by grace through faith!
• He had already received the assurance of his bodily resurrection and everlasting life when he first believed.
• The resurrection of the body is one of the many advantages of trusting Christ for salvation.
• For since by a man came death, by a Man also came the resurrection of the dead.
• For as in Adam all die, so also those who are positioned in Christ, by faith, will all be made alive and be resurrected from the dead. So why would Paul strive to attain to the resurrection of the dead?
• Well, the word 'resurrection' comes from the Greek word 'anastasin'.
• If 'anastasin' means 'resurrection'... 'EX-anastasin' would have the meaning 'OUT-resurrection'.
• Another way of wording this could be the outworking of Christ's Resurrection in our lives which will result in spiritual rewards. 
• Paul already had the assurance of the resurrection of the dead, due to his faith in Jesus.
• And so he strove to attain the outworking of Christ's Resurrection in his life by dying to self and his own personal desires and living for Christ and doing all for the glory of God.
• And it appears that in this passage, Paul is hinting that the 'out-resurrection' for which he strove has a direct connection with the rewards that believers will receive at the judgement seat of Christ.
• He desired to participate in Christ's resurrection power and fellowship in His sufferings in order that I may attain to the OUT-resurrection from the dead.
• Some scholars suggest that the OUT-resurrection is a reference to the Rapture when we are resurrected out of this world to be with Jesus.
• But no matter which interpretation you favour, this verse reminds us that we are to strive to know the Lord Jesus more intimately, to know the power of His Resurrection, and to fellowship in His sufferings.
• May we strive, day by day, to be conformed to His death in order that we may attain to the resurrection from the dead. And every day in the life of a Christian is a day when we can die to self and our own, personal desires and live for Christ and do all to the glory of God.

• They were the favoured ones who laid the foundation for the Church age, and like all who trust in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ, are no longer under condemnation but have been raised into newness of life in Him.

• Prayer is the privilege of people who are saved by grace thorough faith in Christ, for by His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, He tore down the dividing wall between God and man and gave us access to His throne of grace, for mercy to find help in time of need.

• We on the other hand, look back to Christ's sacrifice on the cross and His glorious resurrection.

• They saw Him talk with Moses and Elijah about his death and resurrection.
• Elijah will come to testify to the truth of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting.

• And the promise God made relates to Person, Work, Ministry, and Office of CHRIST JESUS our Lord and His sacrificial death on the Cross and glorious Resurrection; a promise that is pertinent to ALL who believe on Him.

• The Lord Jesus was not simply referring to the physical resurrection of people like Lazarus, Jairus' daughter, or the dead son of the widow of Nain, but to all who would hear and receive His message of salvation, and trust in His own redeeming blood for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting.
• And so in His grace, the eternal Son of God stripped Himself of His heavenly garments and was made in the likeness of sinful man so that by His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, He would rise to life immortal and be given the authority from on high to give His resurrected life to all who would trust in His sacrificial death for salvation.

• After a brief reminder that they were once alienated from their Creator, bitter enemies with God in thought, word, and deed, and slaves to every kind of evil, the Colossian Christians were reminded that by His immeasurable grace, God had planned for their reconciliation back to Himself through the matchless death, burial, and Resurrection of His dearly beloved Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

• Paul longed to know Christ and the power of His Resurrection, but his heart was also to share in Christ's suffering, for he desired intimate association with the Lord Who bought him, in the everyday circumstances of his life.

• Because the predominant audience for the book of Hebrews was initially Jewish believers in Christ, there are many references to Old Testament rules and regulations which have been superseded because of the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ Who gave His life as the full and final sacrifice for sin.

• In this verse, he made it clear that he was ready and willing to undergo all kinds of suffering, sadness, difficulties, and dangers, for the certain hope we have in our glorious resurrection from the dead; when this mortal will put on immortality and this perishable body, that is progressively decaying and wasting away, will put on the imperishable.

• He was the promised SEED of Abraham Who was preordained be born through Abraham, Isaac, and Israel - and through Him all the families of the earth have been blessed - and all who believe in His death, burial, and Resurrection for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting, will be saved.

• The Father gives to the Son all those who have demonstrated faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ.

• In this Church dispensation, there are many of Paul's Jewish brethren together with many Gentile believers that have called on the name of the Lord because they have trusted in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ as Israel's Messiah and the Saviour of the world.

• Salvation is from the Lord and can only come through believing on the death and Resurrection of the Jewish-born Messiah.

• That I may know Him, was Paul's personal longing: That I may know Jesus and the power of His Resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

• Following forty glorious post-Resurrection days, the risen Lord Jesus led His little band of disciples out from the tiny town of Bethany to the beautiful Mount of Olives, where He spoke to them for the very last time before being taken into heaven.

• Whatever Christ's baptism signified - whether it was His identification with sinners for whom He was to be the substitute, an act of obedience to His Father in order to fulfil the righteous requirements of the Law, a presentation of Himself as the Messiah of Israel and Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world, an act of dedication to His God and Father, or simply a picture of His forthcoming death and Resurrection - we know that in the days of John the Baptist's ministry - Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptised by John in the Jordan.

• Paul had come to understand that in this world we will have tribulation, but we are to be of good cheer for Jesus has overcome the world by means of His sacrificial death on the cross and glorious Resurrection.
• Paul learned to say: That I may know HIM and the power of His Resurrection and join with Him in His sufferings.

• Today we are called to eat of the body of Christ and drink of the cup, in remembrance of His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• And His Resurrection would serve as the as proof of His authenticity and authority to take on this judicial role as judge of all.
• He talked of the resurrection from the dead but omitted to tell them of Christ sacrificial work on the Cross as part of God's redemption plan for mankind, the forgiveness of sin.

• It is only by faith in the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ that we receive the right to be called children of God and to address God as Abba, Father.

• Christ's sacrificial work on the Cross at Calvary, which includes His substitutionary death, burial, and Resurrection as laid out in Scripture, is the single most spectacular event that has ever taken place in time and into eternity, for by it, God opened up the way of salvation for whosoever will believe on the name of the only begotten Son of God.
• When Christ was lifted up on the Cross, He was made sin for us, by receiving the full weight of God's wrath against sin on our behalf so that by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, we might be made the righteousness of God in Him, through time and into eternity.

• The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of His only begotten Son.

• But how many, like Pilate, fail to understand the significance of His death and the glories of His resurrection.

• Christ's ministry was popular with the people because they were fascinated by His wisdom, His words, His miracles, and His healings, but they were deaf and disinterested in the truth that sinful man needs a Saviour and that only faith in His death and Resurrection as payment for our sin, is acceptable to God the Father. 

• The Bible lists over 200 things that are true of all believers who have been saved by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• At His First Coming, He came as the sacrificial Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world by His death on the Cross and His Resurrection from the grave.

• Sin and death may have come upon the whole human race through ONE act of sin which placed the whole of mankind under God's condemnation, but God in His grace provided salvation for the human race through ONE act of righteousness; Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection from the dead (so that whosoever believes on His name would not be condemned and perish, but would be forgiven and receive eternal life).

• The formation of the Church, which is the Body of Christ, is a wisdom which none of the angelic rulers of this age knew about, nor did they understand the significance of Christ's humanity, His sinless life, and His sacrificial death - until after his Resurrection.
• Every aspect of God's amazing plan of redemption that is received by faith in Christ's sacrificial death and His glorious Resurrection, was in accordance with the eternal purpose and plan of God, which was hidden for ages and generations... but which God finally carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord.
• Christ's incarnation, death, burial, resurrection, ascension and glorification..

• Paul's message in this verse is quite a serious warning to any ministry that is teaching there are extra things that we need to do for our initial salvation or for our ongoing sanctification, for it means that Christ's finished, sacrificial work on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection from the dead was not sufficient for our salvation.

• Indeed, everyone who has been saved by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins and life everlasting, is part of that elect group.
• Christ Jesus was born into the human race to be our sin-substitute, but He also gave each man and women a freewill to choose to accept or to reject His offer of salvation; to either believe in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ, or to refuse to believe in this free gift of grace.

• The apostle quoted a Messianic Psalm to authenticate Christ's Resurrection from the dead and cried out, The Stone which the builders rejected, has become the Chief Corner Stone.

• Like Enoch, we are to walk with God all our days - from the day when we were saved by faith, to the day He takes us to be with Himself - at the Rapture of the church, which will be ushered in at the resurrection of the dead in Christ.

• The Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, must never be divorced from God's gracious plan of redemption.
• Christ died to pay the price for our sin, but His Resurrection from the dead is equally staggering.
• It was by His Resurrection that He broke the inescapable power of death and hell, guaranteeing eternal life to all who would believe on His name - on all who would believe that His death was the sacrifice for their sin and His resurrected life became our eternally resurrected life.
• Paul systematically laid out the importance of His Resurrection - to show that flesh and blood can never, ever inherit the kingdom of God.
• Although fallen, fleshly, sinful bodies could never enter the heavenly realm, it was through His glorious Resurrection that BY FAITH, we became identified with His clean, pure, immortal, imperishable, resurrected body with the certain promise that we too would receive a pure, immortal, imperishable, resurrected body, like unto His glorious body - a body of flesh and bone which would be animated by the spirit of life in Christ Jesus.
• While on earth, the life of the first creation is in the blood, but at the resurrection, the life of all who believe will be imputed to us through the 'spirit of life in Christ Jesus'.

• Many believers like to focus on the love of Jesus because they think that this will cause unbelievers to get saved but they prefer to allow Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection to be side-lined in a blurry background, in case it offends or puts the unbeliever off the Christian faith!

• Before Jesus could be enthroned as the eternal King of kings and Lord of lords, He must first die the cruel death of the Suffering Servant, so that by His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, He could smash Satan's spiritual authority over the earth and man, destroy the works of the evil one, crush the serpent's head as prophesied in Genesis, and claim victory over the current realm of Satan.

• But before His crucifixion and Resurrection, no Gentile had any right to address the Lord Jesus as the 'Son of David'.

• Peace WITH God is never removed from the man or woman who has trusted in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• His death, burial, and Resurrection conquered sin and Satan.
• His death, burial, and Resurrection broke the power of sin and death forever in the lives of all who would believe on His name.
• Because of His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, God ascribed all authority to the Lord Jesus Christ Who was to become the federal head of a new creation of humanity: a new-creation 'in-Christ'.

• All who do believe on the Son of God are made a new creation in Christ with a new life so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but should live for the Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us AND WAS RAISED, and we must never under-estimate the enormity of that glorious Resurrection.
• Christ died for all, and salvation is a free gift of grace that is available to whosoever will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour, but the gift of His resurrection life is only for those that trust in Him as Saviour.
• All who trust on Christ as Saviour are given His resurrection LIFE, our new life in Christ.

• The free, unmerited gift of eternal life to all who believe in His name is the most wonderful addition to our redemption, but His glorious Resurrection from the dead is beyond our comprehension.
• Through His bodily Resurrection, He broke the power of death in the mortal bodies of all who would trust His name, and because He lives we too will live, with a spirit, a soul, and a glorified body.
• The Corinthian Christians certainly believed in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Himself.
• They believed in a spiritual resurrection but doubted the physical element that is embraced in the glorious gospel of Christ.
• The Old Testament Scriptures prophesied that Christ would be the First-Fruit from the dead, pointing to Jonah as one illustration of His glorious Resurrection, after three days.
• And having laid all the evidence before the Corinthian believers, Paul is able say with authority: Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
• If there was no resurrection of our body and just a resurrection of our spirit and soul, we would spend eternity as disembodied spirits.

• Because of His Resurrection we have an assurance that all those that trust in His name will also be resurrected.
• He is the First-Fruit from the grave and His Resurrection is a pledge and a guarantee that the rest of the harvest will certainly follow.
• Christ is risen from the dead, and He has become the First-Fruits of all who 'sleep' and because He lives, all those who are positioned IN Christ will also live.The Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the complete assurance that all who have trusted on His name will be raised from the dead, with a new resurrected body that will be like His glorified body.
• His death paid the price for sin, but His Resurrection broke the power of sin and death forever in all who believe, and together we will live with Him in glory.

• A man's salvation is judged according to their FAITH in Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, as payment for their sin.

• Faith in the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ - the Son of the most high God - is the single requirement for salvation.

• By grace through faith in His death, burial, and Resurrection… Christ, the Lamb of God and great, High Priest of heaven, has flung wide the golden door into the Holiest of all - to all who believe on His name.

• It is right and proper that we joyfully sing the old songs that tell out His miraculous conception and birth, His Word of truth that has rejoiced our soul, His sacrificial death, glorious Resurrection, spectacular Ascension, and the blessed hope we have in His soon return.

• The life-giving serpent that Moses lifted up on a pole in the wilderness... was simply a shadowy precursor of Christ being lifted up on the Cross for the forgiveness of sin... and His eternal, life-giving Resurrection.
• The Old Testament has many other examples of shadows and types - all of which point to one or another aspect of Christ and His sacrificial death, glorious Resurrection, and eternal reign as God of gods, King of kings, Lord of lords - and Hope of all the ends of the earth.
• His Resurrection became our resurrection and His righteousness became our righteousness - and He gives us eternal life.

• They came to an understanding that He was the Son of God, the living Water, the Resurrection and the Life.

• Let us not cloud the simplicity of the gospel with any of our human reasoning, rules, or regulations, but simply tell people who want to know how to be saved, by faith in the death and Resurrection of our precious Saviour, Jesus Christ.

• For three long dark hours, the wrath of God had been poured out in full measure on the eternal son of God so that by faith in His death, burial, and Resurrection, we might be forgiven of our sin and made one with Him.

• Christ's Resurrection would confirm that His ministry and message were true, and it would be used to authenticate His Messianic claims - which had been rejected by Israel. 

• During the period of time that preceded the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, God graciously overlooked this ignorance in man.
• Because of Christ's sacrificial death on the Cross for the sins of mankind and His glorious Resurrection from the dead, mans' sin could no longer be winked at or overlooked, and so God in His grace gave humanity a fresh start.

• Jesus not only died to pay the price for our sins but to release us from the Adamic-nature that we inherited from our forefathers so that He could replace it with His own Christ-like nature; His own resurrection life; the new-life-in-Christ.

• Now, although pre-Cross Israel was certainly under the Law of Moses until Christ's crucifixion and Resurrection... and although many aspects of the Law certainly harmonise with Christian conduct and godly behaviour, the Bible makes it clear that Church-age believers, whether Jew of Gentile, are not under the Law as a rule of life.

• He knew the plan of God was to use the death of Lazarus to unfold a most wonderful truth; that HE was the Resurrection from the dead, and in Him is Life eternal.
• Jesus used the death and resurrection of Lazarus as a wonderful demonstration of God's almighty power.
• Jesus used the death and resurrection of Lazarus as a type of His own, forthcoming death on Calvary for the sin of the world and His glorious Resurrection which would break the power of sin and death in the lives of all who believe on Him; for after two days in the grave He rose to life immortal, on the third day.
• The more we reflect on the amazing truth that sin and death has been swallowed up forever, through Christ's victorious Resurrection from the dead, the more we marvel at the length and breadth and depth and height of God's love for each one of us, and the more we should express our own love for Him, in all we are and say and do.

• Unless head knowledge of His life and teaching is transferred into a heart belief in His sacrifice for sin, and His death defeating Resurrection - that knowledge is ineffective for salvation, the forgiveness of sin, and life eternal.

• Not only are our sins forgiven through His blood because of substitution, but the power of sin and death over us has been severed forever by means of His Resurrection into which we are identified with Christ. Does this not stagger the mind?
• Then we who are identified with Him by His death and Resurrection shall be revealed with Him in glory.

• The fact of a 'Second Death' implies that there is a 'First Death', but these conditions more correctly are linked with the 'Resurrection' of the dead.
• They will be resurrected from their tombs and come forth from the grave. It goes on to say: Those who did good deeds (by believing on the Word of God) will come out of their graves to a Resurrection of LIFE, while those who committed evil deeds (by not believing on the only begotten Son of God) will come out of their graves to a Resurrection of JUDGMENT or DAMNATION.
• Being part of 'The First Resurrection' is the privilege of everyone who has been saved by grace through faith in God's trustworthy Word.
• Every believer, from both Old and New Testaments and up to the present day, who have died in faith by believing God's Word, are reckoned as righteous and will participate in 'The First Resurrection'.
• Although the timing of the resurrections will differ, all these believers will take part in 'The First Resurrection'.
• The 'Second Resurrection' is reserved for those who have wilfully rejected God's Word and refused His offer of salvation.

• The Lord Jesus is the express image of the invisible God, and during His earthly ministry had been revealing the 'I AM' of the Old Testament as the Good Shepherd, the Door of the sheepfold, the Light of the world, the Bread of life, the living Water, the Resurrection, the Way, the Truth, and the Life (abundant life, eternal life), for in Him was life and His life is the light of all mankind.
• The Lord Jesus is the unique and perfect representation of our Heavenly Father and in these closing moments before His sacrifice death on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection three days later, they had come to an understanding that Jesus Christ was the express image of the living God: For He only did those things that He heard from the Father; for I and the Father are ONE.

• Praise God that the rest of the book of Romans gives us clear guidelines on how to be saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, the one and only Saviour Whose sacrificial death paid the full price for our sin, and Whose glorious Resurrection imparted to us His resurrected life, making us part of an entirely new creation, children of God, and joint-heirs with Christ, by faith in Him.

• First, He must break the power of sin and Satan, death and hell by means of His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• He was the One chosen from before the foundation of the world, to redeem all who would believe in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection - for He is the visible image of the invisible God.

• Both the Corinthian and Thessalonian Christians received some important and complimentary teaching on the Rapture and the resurrection of believers.
• The Corinthians received detailed facts on the resurrection of the body and our future, immortal state, while in Thessalonians we are given encouraging revelation about the end times and the moment when we, who are alive and remain, will be caught up in the clouds with the resurrected saints - to be with the Lord, forevermore.
• We received justification when we were born again and we have the promise of resurrection, rapture, and a glorified body in the days to come... and we have God's assurance that we have salvation from the wrath to come.

• Paul, like all the apostles of Christ, proclaimed that salvation is by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ; the eternal Son of God and perfect Son of Man.

• However, it was very difficult for Jewish Christians in those early days of the Church, to understand the full implications of Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• He chose to do this to redeem us - through faith in His shed blood and glorious Resurrection.

• The glorious Resurrection of our Saviour is as much a part of the gospel of Christ as His sacrificial death.
• He was delivered to death to pay the price for our sin, but His Resurrection from the grave secured our justification.
• Resurrection reality is an integral part of the good news of Redemption.
• Christ's Resurrection from the dead broke the power of sin and death in the life of all who trust in His name for the forgiveness of sins.
• Few if any took heed to His various utterances concerning His Resurrection, which prophetic Scriptures endorsed.
• I wonder what ran through the minds of each of those faithful women who loved the Lord so much that they sped with haste to the tomb that Resurrection morning, expecting to find a dead Christ, but when looking up: They saw that the stone had been rolled away, although it was extremely large.
• These precious women were to have their spiritual vision extended when they also realised that Christ's glorious Resurrection is as much a part of the gospel of grace as His sacrificial death.
• Praise God that Christ died to pay the price for our sin but praise God also that His Resurrection from the grave secured our justification and breathed into us the breath of eternal life.
• Let us never forget that the message of the Cross does not end with His death but integrates His glorious Resurrection and His victory over sin, death, and hell as an inescapable part of the good news of our great salvation.

• He taught them that salvation was only through the blood of the Lord Jesus shed at Calvary, and His glorious Resurrection from the dead.

• Christ is the Alpha and Omega of our faith, the Way and the Truth; the Resurrection and the Life – and one day we will be with Him and see Him face to face.

• By being identified with Christ by faith, we are also associated with all that He accomplished through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.
• His death became our death and His Resurrection became ours.

• We are given a little insight into His birth at Bethlehem and a glimpse into His life in Nazareth, His visit to the temple at the age of 12, and this special preparatory time with John, which preceded Christ's three-and-a-half-year ministry that led to His sacrificial death on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection.

• For ten days, the disciples had been without the Lord Jesus since His Ascension into heaven, following His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection from the dead.
• How strange that it was not all the 500 souls who had witnessed Christ's post-resurrection appearances!

• Hebrews is not simply written for early Jewish Christians to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of Christ's life, death, and Resurrection, or His interconnection with Old Testament Scriptures.

• After His Resurrection, many of these same Jewish hearers would realise the serious mistake of rejecting their Messiah and repent of their sin and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.

• Not only did they preach the good news of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, and open up the Old Testament scriptures to the people of Israel, but they also healed many sick people, in those early days of the Christian Church.

• They had conspired to hold illegal trials, coached people to give false witness against Him, and become deeply disturbed that Lazarus' resurrection from the dead would entice the crowds to follow Him.
• However, because of their unbelief, the only sign they were given was the sign of Jonah: the Resurrection.

• Those forty blissful days that followed the Resurrection must have been wonderful for Christ's disciples, because the sorrow and anguish they felt when they thought the Saviour was dead and buried (following the gruelling time of His arrest, trial, and crucifixion), must have blossomed into a time to ecstatic gladness and joy as Jesus presented Himself to them alive and gave everyone His gracious reassurance that even the terrible act of denial cannot separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord!
• It is astonishing to realise that despite witnessing the many miraculous signs during His post-Resurrection appearances, that some of Christ's eleven chosen apostles still doubted the truth in their heart.
• Christ's Resurrection broke the power of sin and death in the lives of all who would place their trust in Him, and Christ's commission remains the same today: Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.

• Because of Christ's perfect life, sacrificial death, and glorious Resurrection, we have the guaranteed certainty that what God has promised, He will perform.

• Jesus is the God-Man, Who by God's grace, tasted death for every member of the human race so that by faith in His sacrificial death for the forgiveness of sin and His glorious Resurrection for life everlasting, we might be redeemed and adopted into the family of God and become part of the Body of Christ.

• Not only was the crucifixion of the eternal Son of God foretold in Scripture, but Isaiah 53 prophesied of His burial, while in Psalm 16 there is clear evidence of His Resurrection from the dead.
• The death, burial, and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, is the mainspring upon which our salvation rests, and the Holy Spirit Himself inspired holy men of God to record in advance the saving message of grace, upon which our salvation rests: That Christ died for our sins, that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day - according to the Scriptures.
• And yet, every aspect of this three-fold witness of the death, burial, and Resurrection of the incarnate God, the Man Christ Jesus, has been under attack from the very beginning.
• It was this plain, uncomplicated message that Paul preached to the Corinthian Christians, who received it by faith and were saved by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the God-Man, Jesus Christ the righteous.

• Perhaps this chapter is the pinnacle of Paul's epistle, for we discover there is no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus, and what the Law was unable to do for sinners has been done for us, through Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.
• We who have been positioned in Him through faith, will, in like manner, be raised from the dead both spiritually and physically, for the Holy Spirit is the One Who gave us spiritual life when we were born again and He is the same Spirit Who will give life to our mortal bodies at the resurrection of the dead. He is indwelling our bodies and empowering our lives.
• We are a new creation in Christ, such that His death becomes our death and His Resurrection becomes our resurrection, for we are united with Him eternally, and have become one in Spirit with Him.
• THIRD: We will be GLORIFIED at the resurrection/Rapture of the Church, when the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead and who dwells in our mortal bodies will also give life to our body through His Holy Spirit.

• Jesus came to fulfil the Law, and the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus of Nazareth, was the historical marker that changed the priesthood and displaced the Law of Moses by ending the Dispensation of Law, and beginning the Dispensation of the Grace of God.

• Peter begins his first epistle with a most glorious doxology, praising God and exalting His holy name: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, he writes Who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. And his wonder, excitement, and joy in the Lord is not diminished at the end of his letter, for we find him continuing to rejoice in the God of his salvation and lifting up the name of the Lord: To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.

• The gospel message was given to Paul by divine revelation: That Christ died for our sins, that He was buried, and rose again, and Paul reminds us that we received our salvation as a free gift of grace, through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
• And here Paul is reiterating this same, vital saving truth, and emphasising its primary position of importance within the gospel of Christ, because believers in Corinth were being influenced by their pagan neighbours and starting to doubt the authenticity of Christ's Resurrection, while others were being ensnared by legalists who were teaching a 'works based' salvation.

• The shed blood of Christ as the redemptive price for the forgiveness of sin and His glorious Resurrection from the dead with its promise of eternal life and our blessed hope in Christ's soon return, is our glorious hope and our sufficient strength, for it is the power of GOD and the wisdom of GOD.

• They mourned over His death instead of waiting expectantly for His Resurrection on the third day, as they had been told.
• The disciples obeyed these instructions and later they remembered that Jesus had informed them of all these things prior to His death, burial, and Resurrection.

• Imagine the overwhelming joy and reverential fear that overtook this disciple of Christ as he began to comprehend that the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Man, Christ Jesus, whom he had loved so dearly in His earthly ministry was in fact that almighty LION of the tribe of Judah Who stood before him.

• Paul is clarifying the gospel of Christ to the brethren in the Corinthian church and in so doing, is giving the most comprehensive statement of the good news that our salvation is secured by believing on the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• But Paul knew that these Christians were being influenced by the pagan belief that there is no resurrection from the dead.
• He knew that some had been influenced by this unbiblical denial of the Resurrection, and although they believed in the historical record of Christ and even in His crucifixion, they were not convinced of His glorious Resurrection.
• But Paul also knew that without the Resurrection, our faith is in vain.
• Without believing in both the crucifixion AND the Resurrection there is no salvation in Christ, and Paul realised that there were some in the Corinthian church who were professing to be believers, but who did not believe in the entirety of the gospel which he himself had outlined: That Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was RAISED the third day.
• Paul is saying that you are saved if you have believed every aspect of the gospel of grace that he himself taught; which included the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• And Paul went on to remind them (and us), that if we do not believe in every aspect of Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection: Then we have believed in vain.

• His primary objective was to preach the saving truth of Christ crucified and the immense power of His glorious Resurrection.

• We are transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son, and declared righteous by God because we are identified with Christ's death and Resurrection.
• Days before His crucifixion and during His post-Resurrection ministry, Christ promised His Holy Spirit would not only be with His disciples, as their Comforter, but would dwell inside them.

• It is trusting in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ Jesus our Saviour for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting, that overcomes the world.

• Both the death and the Resurrection of Christ are crucial to the salvation message, for if Christ had not died and risen again, our faith would be futile.
• The prevailing perspective of the Corinthian culture rejected any form of resurrection, which caused Paul to write this vital message challenging the skeptical attitude that permeated the pagan citizens of Corinth which was infiltrating into the thinking and practice of born-again believers, just as the same, scoffing skepticism of Christ's death and Resurrection has saturated the worldly mindset of today.
• And so we discover Paul clarifying the truth of the glorious gospel of grace to this little group of believers, who were themselves starting to question the authenticity of the inerrant Word of God, and in particular Christ's glorious Resurrection.
• It was to these believers that Paul spoke when he started to defend the truthfulness of the glorious gospel of Christ and carefully clarified for them, that their faith must be built on the firm foundational facts of Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection.
• This truth is grounded in the unchanging Word of God, where Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection is the anchor of our soul and the immovable foundation upon which our faith must stand.

• The Resurrection of Christ defeated death.

• Their hope was built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• It was only after the Resurrection, when the Scriptures were opened up to them, that they believed.

• If Paul, in these early days of the Church, was so viciously attacked by these legalistic, Pharisaic teachers who deliberately tied up heavy legalistic burdens on men's shoulders in order to entrap them, manipulate them, enslave them, and place them back under the curse of the Law... how much more do we, in these closing days of Christendom, need to be equally vigilant in our defence of the glorious gospel of God - for Christ died for our sins and rose again the third day so that by faith in His sacrificial work on the Cross and glorious Resurrection, we have been freed from the curse of the Law - which is death - and have been born anew where we walk in spirit and truth under the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

• After the Resurrection, the Church (which is the Body of Christ) were to be His witnesses on earth.

• The doorway of this day of grace has been standing open for 2000 years for whosoever will repent of their sins, turn to the Lord, and be saved by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• And although the Lord Jesus was the eternal Son of God and equal in honour and glory with the Father, Mark announces the beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ from the human perspective, tracing the gospel of Jesus from His lowly birth to His glorious Resurrection and Ascension into heaven.
• He came as the suffering servant of God, Whose death, burial, and Resurrection would be good news for all who would trust in His sacrificial death for salvation.

• He wants the Philippians to know that this imprisonment has been a great cause to advance the gospel of God and has enabled him to have a renewed impetus in sharing the truth of Christ's love for mankind, His sacrificial death, and His glorious Resurrection, so that all who believe on Him might not perish but have everlasting life.

• Paul disclosed that this body of believers was part of a new creation who would be born again into the family of God, by faith in Christ's sacrificial work and glorious Resurrection.

• But underpinning all his comparisons of a holy God with sinful man, and shining through all his contrasts of the eternal Creator with the fallen race of men, is a prayer that God has seen fit to answer through the life, death, and Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

• Now, as then, any form of legalist work that is insisted upon as being a necessary addition to God's free gift of salvation by faith alone in Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection, is strongly to be rejected, and Paul spends two whole chapters in this book of Galatians using the strongest possible language in defence of justification by faith in Christ's finished work on Calvary's Cross alone.

• As we look back to Christ's Resurrection, we rejoice that He was willing to die as the substitute for our sin and rise again on the third day.
• But John 20 gives us a glimpse into the happenings on Resurrection Day and the heart of some of His disciples.
• He did not suggest to the distraught woman that maybe Christ's teaching about His death and Resurrection could in fact be true, and the next verse seems to explain his quiet hesitation for we read: They still did not understand the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.
• However, it seems that unbelief, doubt, indecision, or uncertainty may have trumped John's faith in Christ's physical Resurrection for a time, for he and Peter simply returned home after seeing the grave clothes undisturbed but empty, with the head covering neatly folded by itself.
• Did John connect the empty tomb and folded grave clothes with Christ's glorious Resurrection?
• The people that were present during the life, ministry, death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus belong to a unique generation because their life spanned the closing years of the pre-Cross dispensation of the Law (when Christ offered the kingdom to Israel, who rejected it), and the post-Resurrection dispensation of grace (where salvation is a free gift of God's grace, to all who will believe in Christ's death, burial and Resurrection for the forgiveness of our sin).
• We may not have had the opportunity to hear Christ's teaching, see His miraculous signs and wonders, visit the empty tomb, or meet with Jesus during his post-Resurrection ministry, but we are blessed beyond compare, for we have the Word of God which is living, active, and able to give us all that we need.

• Every sacrifice that was offered to God down through the centuries, pointed to the final, perfect sacrifice of the eternal, begotten, incarnate Son of the Father, Who by means of His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, flung wide the door into the throne room of heaven.
• Before we were accepted in the Beloved by grace through faith in His sacrificial death and Resurrection, we were spiritually dead and doomed to eternal separation from God.

• Christ was the perfect Man, and His legitimacy was endorsed or justified at His baptism, His transfiguration, His resurrection, and His ascension.
• Angels ministered to His human needs, not only at His birth and resurrection but during His terrible agony in the garden of Gethsemane as He faced the looming Cross.
• The mystery of godliness, where the resurrected life of Christ is manifested in the life of godly leaders and spiritual believers, will always stand secure on the glorious truths of the death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and glorification of Jesus Christ.

• His punishment of sin is just and righteous altogether, and there is a wonderful purpose in His retribution; the restoration of His nation Israel, the resurrection of myriad of His saints, and the 1000-year reign of His appointed Messiah when: Righteousness and peace will kiss one another, and the earth will be filled with the glory of God.

• We are certainly privileged to be saved by grace through faith in Christ and to have been freed from the curse of the Law through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, but we must maintain an attitude of eschewing that which is evil and seeking to do that which is righteous in the eyes of the Lord.

• Christ had died for their sin and was raised from the dead as reported by many witnesses, yet how difficult it was for the Jews to believe in His resurrection.

• Indeed, the Gospels make it clear that His half-brothers did not believe in Him until after His Resurrection.

• The death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, are the critical elements of salvation.
• But it also means that when Christ rose from the dead, I was also identified with His Resurrection - I also rose into newness of life with a NEW nature - a Christlike nature.
• Because of my identity with Christ's Resurrection, I became part of a new creation in Christ.

• Peter taught the good news of the gospel of grace and the glorious message of salvation by grace though faith in Christ, and made clear to us the power of the Cross and the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ Whose sacrifice of Himself at Calvary and glorious Resurrection is the single thing that is worth living for - and the one thing worth dying for.

• His death annulled our relationship with the Law of sin and death, and His resurrection guaranteed all who believe on Him the new life in Christ, freed from the power of the Law and no longer bound by its righteous requirements.

• Born in Bethlehem, teaching and healing the people as He proclaimed His Messianic role before being crucified at Calvary, raised back to life and appearing to many in His resurrection body of flesh and bone, Jesus was indeed the only begotten Son of the Father.

• He did this so that all who trust in Him can identify with His death, burial, and Resurrection to a new life, and state confidently: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

• We are moving nearer to the end of this life's dark night, where we will throw off this tent of flesh and be clothed in our new, glorified, resurrection bodies - and so we shall ever be with the Lord Jesus, for the rest of time and throughout all eternity.Do this!
• However, Paul goes on to reveal the glorious hope of salvation for all who believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Paul explains the wonder of our identification with Christ and His precious identification with us.For if we are become identified with Him in the likeness of His death, so also we shall be identified with His glorious resurrection. Paul then expounds God's wisdom in setting aside the nation of Israel for a season and His ultimate will and purpose as it relates to both Israel and the Church, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fulness of the Gentiles is brought in. 

• As in so many of his epistles, Paul contrasts the way of the wicked, who reject God's gracious gift of salvation and the final devastating outcome of their choice, with those who have accepted His call to trust in Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• God has an amazing resurrection programme for all who trust in Christ as Saviour, and this is linked with the permanent and total destruction of our last enemy: the final and full elimination of sin and death.
• Christ Jesus was the first fruit from the dead, and His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection broke forever the power of sin, death, hell, and the law, in the lives of all who would trust in the only begotten Son of God.
• YES, it was Christ's blood that paid for the price of sin, and it was Christ's Resurrection that broke the power of sin and death in the lives of all who would trust in His name.

• And now, Jesus reiterated the wonderful promised baptism of the Holy Spirit, forty days after His Resurrection: You will be baptised with the Holy Spirit, in just a few days, they were told.
• He had already appeared to many believers after His Resurrection, one here, a couple there, and one occasion He showed Himself to 500 at one time, but ten days after He ascended to heaven on that special feast of Pentecost, 120 faithful followers were waiting together for the momentous occasion when Christ would baptise them with the Holy Spirit.

• He first restored our soul into newness of life, through the quickening power of His death and resurrection, when we first trusted in His name for our great salvation.

• May we mirror Paul's passion for Jesus and preoccupation with the gospel, and say with him, That I may know Him and the power of His Resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

• Were it not for the Cross, we could never have been forgiven of our sins and delivered from our offenses against God, but were it not for the Resurrection, we would have no proof of Christ's claims to be our Saviour.
• By His Resurrection, he broke the power of sin and death in the lives of all who believe in Him.
• Let us never forget that the Resurrection is as much a part of the glorious gospel of Christ as is His substitutionary death (where He paid the price for our sin), His Deity (whereby He alone was good enough to pay the price for sin and redeem the race of fallen sinners), and His Humanity (without which He could never have become our Kinsman-Redeemer, by becoming the only perfect, human substitute for the accumulated sin of all humanity).

• He starts to catalogue the tender mercies of our God and the amazing gospel truths that have impacted the lives of so many who have trusted in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting.

• Christ is the incarnate Word of God Who was sent by the Father to become the Messiah of Israel and Saviour of the world, by means of His death, burial, and Resurrection.

• It is by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection that we are redeemed from the slave-market of sin.

• No longer would they be under the Law, but under grace, for Christ's forthcoming death and Resurrection would set aside the Jewish, sacrificial system given to Israel through Moses, because Jesus, the Lamb of God, had come to be the full and final sacrificial offering for the sin of the whole world.

• By returning to the Law of Moses, these Judaisers were turning away from the gospel of salvation, which comes as a free gift of grace from God to all who believe on the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• If the only way to escape that terrible time to come is through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, should we not take every opportunity to tell our loved ones, our friends, our relatives, our neighbours, our work colleagues, and those we meet, the good news of the gospel of grace and the terrible consequences of rejecting God's offer of salvation?

• The moment that we are saved by grace through faith, we have an assurance that we are part of the group that are blessed by God and will indeed see Him... not because of what we have done to make our hearts pure - but because of what Christ has done for us so that by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, we are given a pure and holy heart - which will see God.

• It was not surprising that after Christ's glorious Resurrection, when He spoke for 40 days of things pertaining to the promised kingdom, that the disciples expected Him to set it up in the very near future.

• God knows those who through their free-will choice will trust in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ for salvation during their lifetime on earth, and it is because God is omniscient that He knows ahead of time the choices each one of us will make.

• He paid the price for the sin of the world through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, and broke the power of sin, Satan, death, and hell forever, in the lives of ALL who would trust in Him.
• Others consider this refers to Christ's triumph over Satan (the prince of the power of the air) and the demonic forces of darkness who tried to impede our Lord's ascent back into heaven, following His Resurrection from the dead.
• Due to His death and glorious Resurrection, Jesus was the victor over sin, Satan, death, and hell.
• Christ defeated the grave by the resurrection power of a sinless life.
• The power of His sinless life, sacrificial death, and glorious Resurrection secured authority over sin and Satan, death and decay, the grave and hell.
• His atoning death and wonderful Resurrection led every evil that sought to destroy Him and prevent this greatest of all victory, into captivity.

• He also began in earnest to prepare His few, faithful followers for His fast approaching death and Resurrection, and for their forthcoming ministry as the foundational apostles and prophets of the Church.
• Judas, the traitor, had conspired with leaders of the Jews to hand Him over to them, and Christ's warning of his arrest, trial, crucifixion, and Resurrection intensified with every passing hour. 

• It is by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, that we..

• But this truth must not be divorced from the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, the anointed Messiah and promised Saviour Whose sacrificial death paid the price for our sins and Whose glorious Resurrection transferred us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God's dear Son. 

• There are many who have not believed in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, who will have to face the great and terrible day of the Lord if they do not turn from sin and believe on Him, Who died so that they might live.

• The ungodly actions and unbridled lust of such people was so gross that they even denied and disowned the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself; challenging His right to rule, denying His eternal deity, discrediting His vicarious death, and rejecting His glorious Resurrection.

• How we praise God that although we were born dead in trespasses and sins, Christ's sacrificial death paid the price for our sin and His glorious Resurrection broke the power of sin and Satan, death and hell, in the life of all who believe.

• But even this woman preferred to be influenced by the circumstances that surrounded her, rather than believing all that the Scriptures said about Jesus and all that He had told them about His sacrificial death for the sins of the world and His glorious resurrection - on the third day.
• Love for our Lord and love for others is the new, and better commandment that Christ has given to all who are saved by grace through faith in Him.  But I wonder how different things would have been if Mary, and the other disciples, had lived through those three days - expectantly waiting for Christ's prophesied resurrection from the dead, just as He had told them beforehand.

• This remnant of Church-age Jewish believers who have trusted in Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting, is small.

• A great change took place in God's dealings with mankind after the Resurrection and Ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• But at His crucifixion and Resurrection, Christ, the Passover Lamb and final Sacrifice for sin, was offered for us, such that all who believe in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.
• Since that pivotal point in the history of man, believers today look back to the Cross, in humble thanksgiving, at Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, for we are no longer living under the Law of Moses but in the dispensation of the grace of God.
• Just as Christ opened the Scriptures to His disciples following His Resurrection, so Peter and the apostles did the same for the men of Israel who did not recognise Jesus.
• He explained that they had acted in ignorance when they crucified their Messiah and pointed to numerous prophetic Scriptures foretelling His suffering, death, and Resurrection.

• Peter's great sermon on the Day of Pentecost clearly spelled out the truth of the post-Resurrection gospel to the Jews: Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.
• They could not accept that salvation was by faith in Christ's sacrificial work and glorious Resurrection.

• But Adam sinned, placing himself and the whole human race in bondage to sin and enslaved by Satan. Before God's plan for the earth could be completed, fallen man had to be redeemed through the sacrificial death and life-giving Resurrection of His only begotten Son.
• It was by means of Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection that He became preeminent among man.

• But in the truest and biblical sense, the Lord Jesus was begotten at His glorious Resurrection.
• Paul tells us that the Lord Jesus was: Declared to be the powerful Son of God at His Resurrection from the dead according to the Spirit of holiness.
• It was at His glorious Resurrection from death the Christ was legitimately able to declare: The LORD hath said unto Me, 'Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten Thee.'
• And we marvel at the eternal significance of His Resurrection from the dead, when the powers of death were shattered forever for all who believe on Him as Saviour, and when, on that Resurrection morning, God the Father was finally able to pronounce: Thou art My Son, this day have I begotten Thee.

• Jesus is not only near in the Person and work of the Spirit in our lives, but His physical return in the clouds to take us to be with Himself at the Rapture, or resurrection of Church-age saints, is also nearer than when we first believed.

• He also described post-Resurrection appearances, when the Lord Jesus presented Himself alive to His followers by many convincing proofs for 40 days, during which time He taught about the kingdom of God and presented Himself as Israel's promised Messiah.
• Like all of Christ's other 11 apostles, the new apostle, must have accompanied Jesus throughout His earthly life, and also been an eyewitness of Christ's death and His Resurrection.
• He recognised that the new apostle needed to be a man who had not only been with them all from the beginning of John the Baptist's ministry, until the day when Jesus was taken up into heaven, but was also a man who would become the 12th witness, to testify to Christ's Resurrection: Therefore, Luke explains in this passage, he must be chosen from among the men who have accompanied us during the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John (from the start of John the Baptist's ministry) until the day Jesus was taken up from us.
• Peter identified one further essential qualification for an apostle, by saying, It is necessary that he is a witness, with the rest of us, of Christ's Resurrection.

• After the resurrection of Church-age saints, those believers who are still living and remain on earth will be caught up into the clouds together with the resurrected saints, where we will all meet the Lord Jesus in the air.
• The Rapture and resurrection of believers!!

• The truth that is contained in this section of Scripture is as vital for Christians in the 21st century as when it was first penned, for we have all obtained the same precious faith as did this old fisherman who walked with Jesus for three long years and who, like us, was saved by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• He started preparing His followers for His fast approaching death and Resurrection.
• He began training His disciples for their post Resurrection ministry, and increasingly He made hints about His person, His sacrifice on the Cross, and His coming kingdom.
• Jesus not only started to explain privately to His disciples about His mission and ministry (His death and Resurrection), but He also talked to the crowd about what it really means for a believer to become a true disciple of His.

• He was foreknown before the creation of the world, revealed at God's appointed time, and was made manifest for our sake when He was born into His own creation to become the Saviour of the world, by means of His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• The promise to Abraham, that all the families of the earth would be blessed through him, was to come about through his unique Seed, Christ Jesus our Lord, for it is through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection that all the peoples on earth would be blessed, both Jew and Gentile.
• It is only by means of the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ that this very specific, Abrahamic promise (that all families of the earth will be blessed) could come to pass.

• Trusting that Christ's death burial, and resurrection is the core of the glorious gospel... Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature.

• The astonishing and wonderful truth is that WE who have trusted in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, are His spiritual household and ministers of His New and better Covenant.

• Christ had come into the world to be the light of the world and to be the One Whose death, burial, and Resurrection would reconcile the world back to Himself so that all who believe in Him could be presented faultless and blameless before Him.

• The certainty of the resurrection of the body is a doctrine that is clearly identified in both Old and New Testaments.
• The 15th chapter of first Corinthians is the most comprehensive treaties on the absolute assurance that dead bodies will come out of their graves, some to the FIRST 'Resurrection of Life Eternal' and others to the SECOND 'Resurrection of Everlasting Damnation' and the lake of fire.
• Many assume that the resurrection of dead souls is an isolated incident when all the deceased of the past will be raised together.
• But just as there was an order in the creation of the world and order in God's plan of redemption, so also there is a clearly defined order in the resurrection of the dead and order in the inevitable day of judgement, when the secrets of all hearts will be exposed. 
• Paul's detailed argument in support of Christ's Resurrection, and his clear description of what will take place when graves are opened, and the dead raised, engenders great hope and encouragement in the heart of every living soul.
• There is a clear, sequential order to the resurrections, and Christ's Resurrection is the key to unlocking this divinely ordered plan.
• But if Christ had not risen from the dead, there could be no resurrection to Life.
• Our sins would be forgiven, but without the Resurrection of Christ to life eternal, death would have gained its prey.
• The power of the Resurrection is rooted in Christ's own Resurrection from the grave.
• If Christ had not risen from the dead there could be no 'resurrection to Life Eternal', and everyone who ever lived would remain in their graves without hope in the world.
• Christ is therefore the 'Firstfruits from the Dead' and we who have trusted Him for the forgiveness of sins have received His free gift of eternal life-in Christ, and the promise of our resurrection to life.
• God has His pre-planned order for the resurrection of the dead: Christ had to rise FIRST - the Firstfruits From The Dead: And after that those who are Christ's at His coming.
• Only those saved by grace through faith in His death, burial, and Resurrection are Christ's at His coming and are destined to be part of the 'Resurrection to Life'.
• The 'Resurrection to Life' is also called the 'First Resurrection' and covers ALL the saved of history, from Adam to today, who are credited with righteousness, by faith.
• The 'Resurrection of Everlasting Damnation' is called the 'Second Resurrection'.
• In the little time we have left before the Lord comes for His Church, let us tell all we meet about the glorious gospel of Christ and may many be saved and join us in the resurrection of Church-Age Saints in the Rapture of the Church.

• We who are His children are also told to be of good cheer, for by His death and Resurrection He has overcome the world, and although we will inevitably face difficulties and dangers in this fallen world, the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

• I am the one Who heals your soul - through the sanctification process, as you walk in faith and grow in grace - ONGOING salvation.  I am the one Who heals your body - at the Rapture of the church and resurrection of the dead-in-Christ - FUTURE salvation.

• To the believing hearts of all who are saved by grace through faith in His death, burial and resurrection they are Words of great comfort.

• Jesus came to earth as the suffering Servant of God, so that He could save His people from their sins, by means of His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• But God in His goodness and grace determined that He would redeem mankind from this shocking state of slavery into which we had fallen, as a totally free gift to all who would believe in the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of His only begotten Son, by faith.

• Mary must have been so confused, but like the rest of His disciples, she had failed to hear and understand that He was man's Kinsman-Redeemer Whose sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection would bring life to all who believe in Him, would bring glory to God, and would destroy the works of the evil one.

• He is the One Whose death and Resurrection redeemed us from slavery to sin and it is only through Christ's atoning work on the Cross on our behalf, that God is satisfied.

• The Lord Jesus gained victory over death and hell through His own sacrifice on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection, but throughout His life He gave solemn warnings that an hour was coming when the tombs of all who were dead would hear His voice; some to the resurrection of life but others to the resurrection of condemnation.
• Indeed, the bars of hell itself were rendered powerless against His own sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection for through His own death, Christ rendered powerless the one who had the power of death - the devil.
• Those who by faith have trusted Christ for salvation will come forth to the resurrection of life.
• And we know that this is eternal life: That they know God and Jesus Christ Whom He has sent. But those who rejected God's free gift of salvation will come forth from their earthly grave into the resurrection of condemnation.
• Those that are 'in-Christ' will hear His voice and come forth to the resurrection of life.
• Those who rejected His free gift of salvation, and who are not 'in-Christ' will also hear His voice, but they will come forth to the resurrection of condemnation for one reason only: Because they have not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

• Having just told us the glories of our bodily resurrection and the Rapture of the Church (which is the believer's confident hope), and also having given us full assurance that we are not appointed to go through the coming period of Great Tribulation (when the wrath of God is poured out on a Christ rejecting sinful world, and Israel is restored to their God-appointed position of supremacy on earth), Paul gives us some wise instruction on how to live godly lives that are pleasing to the Lord, in this present world.

• It was at His Resurrection, when Christ had fulfilled His role as the sin-sacrifice for the whole world, that God was finally able to say: This day have I begotten Thee. It was when the Lord Jesus had finished the work that God had sent Him to do that He was lifted up to the position of God's eternal High Priest, and today Jesus is seated in heavenly places interceding for His people for He is the only Mediator between God and man.

• Christ was asking if it were possible for mankind to be redeemed in another way, other than by His own substitutionary death, burial, and Resurrection.
• Before He breathed His last breath and gave up His spirit, our dear Redeemer prayed that He would be raised from the dead, which was fully granted at His glorious Resurrection.

• Having given the Corinthians Christians additional insight into the glories of the new body that awaits every Church-age believer at the resurrection / rapture of the Body of Christ, Paul reminds us that following this event, each one of us will also stand before the judgement seat of Christ.

• By God's grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Son of God, we are born again for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting.

• The reason we are given this reminder in God's Word is because all Church-age believers must appear before the judgement seat of Christ at the resurrection of the 'dead in Christ' (and the rapture of those that are still alive), and this occurs as the closing event of this dispensation of grace.

• However, following Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, there was no requirement for the circumcision of Gentile believers in Church age doctrine.
• Though the wages of sin is most certainly death, the gift of God is eternal life to all who believe in the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son.

• The gospel of Paul was received directly from God and was centred upon the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ.

• Paul prayed that they would know the power of His Resurrection, and be enabled to share His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death.

• Little did they know that following that terrible 'night of sorrow and pain', they would experience astounding joy on that glorious Resurrection morning.

• Today, we have far greater illumination than King David, for we have been given the whole counsel of God in the completed Scriptures, we have eyewitness accounts of Christ's ministry, message, His sacrificial death, and glorious Resurrection.

• The 'day of salvation' refers to the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ - but sadly, Israel did not recognise the day of their visitation and, as a nation, have been blinded in part until the times of the Gentiles is fulfilled - until the Church age in which WE now live, will be completed and the Church removed at the Rapture.

• We are instructed that as often as we partake of the bread and wine in remembrance of Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, we are to do so soberly and in the reverential fear of the Lord.

• Salvation is received by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection alone.

• The clear teaching of many passages in Scripture is that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, and not on the basis of works or any human merit that we may carry out in our flesh, lest any man should boast.

• But God, by grace through faith in Christ's sacrificial death on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection, has provided a New and better Covenant.

• But His Resurrection was the infallible proof to you and me that His sacrifice was accepted by God.

• Sin would be dealt with through the death and Resurrection of this perfect, Kinsman-Redeemer - the incarnate God, and faith in HIM would be the means to have sins forgiven, be proclaimed righteous, and receive God's great salvation.
• The conditions of the Law were not set aside, but through the birth of Christ into the human race and His sinless life and ministry to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, God purposed that Jesus would fulfil every legal requirements of God's holy Law on behalf of every fallen sinner - and the single requirement to benefit from His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, was faith in HIM - to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ - and by believing, be given salvation as a free gift of God's grace: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

• They had to come to terms with the truth that Christ fulfilled the promise of God, given to Abraham, and that due to faith in Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection, they were now ministers of a new and better covenant.

• The message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are wise in their own understanding and who are perishing, but to us who have been saved by grace through faith in Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, it is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

• Before the death of Christ, God was working through the Jewish nation to forward His redemption plan, but following His Resurrection and Ascension, God set Israel aside for a season and began a new work through the Church; the Body of Christ.
• Peter spoke of Christ's deity through His Resurrection.
• He explained that Christ's Resurrection put an end to the agony of death since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.

• Such apostate teachers with their heretical doctrines always insist that salvation requires something to be added to the Cross - that man must engage in some meritorious work, other than simply believing in the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ, for their salvation.

• However, in His wisdom, God chose to keep this information hidden from both men and angels - for had the powers of darkness known the eternal plan of God they would not have crucified the Lord of glory - for Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection paved the way for the salvation of humanity.

• Jesus was not literally crucified at the foundation of the world, but God's plans and purposes dictated from that point, Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, as laid out in Scripture, would be the only acceptable sacrifice for sin.

• He had hoped to be in Jerusalem during the feast of Passover, which was the anniversary of Christ's crucifixion and glorious resurrection, but this murderous plot delayed his journey.
• No doubt he was keen to meet with the Lord's other beloved apostles and Christ's other followers at Passover - in the city of David - in order to celebrate His glorious resurrection from the dead, on that first day of the week.

• The letter to the 'Church of the Laodiceans', is perhaps the most solemn and thought-provoking of all of Christ's post-Resurrection communications to Church-age believers.
• Whether the attitude of these believers was a total indifference to Christ's sacrifice on the Cross, a general disinterest in getting to know the Lord Jesus and the power of His Resurrection, or simply a lukewarm spirituality due to a carnal, self-inflated ego and self-satisfaction in their own abilities, these believers were the group that disgusted the Lord Jesus more than any other Church that is listed in the book of Revelation.

• We are not saved by works of the Law, but by faith in the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of Jesus, the eternal Son of God and sinless Son of Man. 

• Because He lives we too shall live, and whether we live or die - whether we are awake or sleep, we have an assurance that Christ's death and resurrection has secured for us eternal life - spirit, soul, and body. 

• After His death, burial, and Resurrection, these men were to become members of His Body on earth - through whom the gospel of God would be taught to the far corners of the earth.

• His life, sacrificial death, and glorious Resurrection, brought eternal life and immortality to all who believe, bringing them from darkness into the glorious light of truth.

• It is believing that Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection procured our salvation.

• Other methods of salvation may be sold to the uninformed - but there is only ONE gospel of salvation, (that the Son of the living God was sent to be our Kinsman-Redeemer, Whose death alone would pay the price for the sin of the whole world and Whose Resurrection alone would give life to all who believe on His name).

• Salvation is by faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ alone.

• Although we still live in a body of sin, we are nonetheless identified with Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection, and all that it stands for.
• BUT that is not the end of the story - we are also identified with His Resurrection.
• What use would the forgiveness of sin be if there were no physical resurrection unto eternal life!
• Immersion in the water is a picture of our co-burial with Christ while coming up out of the water illustrates our co-resurrection with Him.

• But His righteousness is only given by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting.

• The previous verse details the future bodily resurrection of Church age saints who have already died, while verse 17 explains what will happen to Christians who are still alive when the Church age closes: We who are alive and remain [on the earth] will be caught up together with them [Church-age saints, who died in faith and have just been resurrected] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

• The Resurrection of the Lord quickened within us a brand-new nature; our new-life in Christ.

• Although Old Testament saints, including David the king, will partake in the resurrection of the dead at Christ's Second Coming, the One Whom the Lord will raise up to govern His people, is the Lord Jesus Christ; the Messiah of Israel, the Son of the most High God, great David's greater Son. 

• We all enjoy equal acceptance by means of this same precious faith, simply because we trusted in the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour for salvation.

• Following the Cross was the Resurrection when death was swallowed up in victory, and following Peter's denial was his restoration and commission to feed Christ's sheep and care for His lambs.

• The eternal Son of the Father was made a little lower than the angels for a season, but having been born into such humble surroundings, lived a life of loving and obedient submission to the Father, and having purged our sins at Calvary's cruel Cross, the Lord Jesus became the firstborn from the dead at His Resurrection.
• Christ's redemptive work on the Cross and glorious Resurrection from the dead, disarmed the angelic rulers and authorities and made a public display of them.
• For by His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, He triumphed over them and was given a more excellent name when He sat down at the right hand of the Father, in the heaven of heavens.

• When bound in chains in a Roman prison, the apostle Paul, was able to cry: I rejoice in my sufferings, for he not only drew on the power of Christ's Resurrection, but was identified with his Saviour.

• Despite the assurance that we will receive a new, glorified body at the Rapture (the resurrection of Church-age saints), the old sin nature will continue to lust against our new-life-in-Christ during our sojourn on earth, and for the rest of our life it must be kept nailed to the Cross, if we are to maintain close communion with the Lord. 

• the resurrection of the 'dead-in-Christ'.

• And He is also the eternal Resurrection and everlasting Life Who dwells in unapproachable Light.

• But although God's way of salvation is foolishness in the eyes of the world, it will be to the eternal loss of all who do not repent of their worldly ways and recognise that the one and only path to eternal salvation and everlasting life comes from faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ; the eternal Son of God and perfect Son of Man.

• The Lord Jesus Christ was fully Man yet He was also fully God, and His angry challenge was issued as a prediction of His forthcoming death and glorious Resurrection.

• He convicts sinners of their need of salvation, and saints of their need to be holy, and He carries out the ministry of regeneration in the spirit of a man or woman who trusts in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ for salvation.

• It is through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection that He Himself will present the whole Church holy, unblamable, and unreprovable in His sight.

• But the wonderful proof that God the Father accepted the sacrifice of Christ the Son on our behalf, was His Resurrection.
• It is this wonderful substitutionary death and glorious Resurrection that constitutes the gospel for which the apostle Paul was set apart by both the Father and the Son, and which was promised before times in the holy Scriptures.
• Paul lays out this truth, plainly and bluntly in his first letter to the Corinthians: If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.
• And just in case we still have not understood the importance of Christ's Resurrection, Paul continues: And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
• BUT CHRIST, Paul triumphantly states, has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. The Resurrection of Christ, the pivital point in history, is a fact that we can confidently trust in and rest our faith upon. 

• All who believed in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ and obeyed His instruction to remain in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit was given, were filled with the Spirit and rewarded with spiritual gifts on that unique day, as Joel had prophesied.

• His life was spent doing good as he demonstrated the way all men were created to live... so that by His death and Resurrection, He would break the power of sin and remove the curse of the Law - in the lives of ALL who would trust in His name for the forgiveness of sin and the salvation of their souls.
• And yet God in His mercy took upon Himself the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men - so that by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, we could be conformed into His image and likeness and be clothed in His perfect righteousness.

• Jesus became flesh and dwelt amongst us, living a perfect life so that He could offer Himself as the only sacrifice to God for the sin of the whole world, and by His death and Resurrection, redeem sinful mankind from eternal separation from a holy God.

• When instructing Gentiles of the gospel, he would often begin by pointing to the God of Creation, the sinfulness of man, the need for forgiveness, and God's plan of redemption through the death, burial, and Resurrection of His only begotten Son.

• Once we start to recognise that we are sinners, we start to understand the amazing love of God, the forgiveness of sins, and His over-abounding grace which is ours by faith in the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

• Jesus started to prepare His little band of followers for His forthcoming betrayal, crucifixion, and Resurrection.
• It appears that as Peter shared his final thoughts in his last epistle, he called to mind the many truths that his beloved brother Paul taught so thoroughly about the Rapture, the resurrection of Church age saints, the Bema seat judgement of Christ, and the sudden destruction that falls on an unbelieving world, at the start of the 'Day of the Lord'.

• We have a wonderful assurance of victory over death because Christ gained a victory through His bodily Resurrection.
• He describes Christ's many post-Resurrection appearances, to Peter, to the twelve, and to many other followers.
• We not only identify with His death (sins forgiven) but also His Resurrection (life eternal).
• The old, mortal body is a temporary tent that houses our spirit and soul, but at the resurrection, we will be clothed in a new, eternal, immortal covering.
• Let us celebrate this marvellous truth from the apostle Peter: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

• As believers on the Resurrection side of Calvary, we are no longer considered to be servants of God but His sons, not because of any righteous deeds that we have done, but only because of what He did at Calvary on our behalf: For by grace are we saved not of works, lest any man should boast.
• As believers on the Resurrection side of Calvary, we are partakers of the divine nature by grace through faith in Christ, and as a child of our Heavenly Father we may call Him: Abba, Father.
• We who have trusted Christ on the Resurrection side of Calvary have all the riches of His grace available to us, not because of our godliness but because of Christ's sacrifice on the Cross.
• As believers on the Resurrection side of Calvary, the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit and in the power of His sufficient strength, we are enabled to love others as Christ loved us.
• We who have trusted Christ on the Resurrection side of Calvary, have been brought into God's family by grace through faith in Christ's finished work and are now children of God, through Christ.

• We can search Paul's writings so that we too may know Christ and the power of His Resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering.

• We should never be ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for by His hand we were created, by His blood we have been saved, and by His Resurrection we have been made a new creation and given eternal life in Him.

• The sweet psalmist of Israel concluded his song of praise with these wonderful words of complete assurance in the resurrection of the dead and life everlasting: For You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence and the pleasures of living with You forever.
• The anticipation of Christ's Resurrection brought Him great joy, for it conquered death, and brought many sons to glory by faith in Him.

• The blessings we receive by being identified with Christs's death, burial, and Resurrection are enormous - indeed they are eternal.

• Sadly, there are those that reject God's free offer of salvation, which is accomplished by faith in Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection for the forgiveness of sins.

• Our righteousness is a free gift of grace to all who are redeemed through the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

• He knew that He was to return to heaven after His Resurrection.

• But also, as believers, we are identified with Christ's Resurrection and because He lives, we too shall live eternally, for He has broken the power of sin and death.
• Since Christ received a resurrection body, we too will receive a resurrection body, and John wants this knowledge to be fixed in our heart so that as a believer you may KNOW that ye have eternal life.

• God accepted His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection as the one and only payment for my sin, your sin, and the sin of the whole world.

• He gained a glorious victory over Satan, sin, death, hell, and the demonic forces of evil, through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.
• Living saints together with the resurrection of those who have died in Christ, will be removed from the earth before the great and terrible 'Day of the Lord'.

• He could testify as an eye-witness of His glorious majesty and remember His triumphant resurrection from the dead.

• They all witnessed His Resurrection and were all men who travelled with Jesus when He started to go in and out among them, during John the Baptist's ministry (when he challenged the lost sheep of the house of Israel to repent of their sins, for the kingdom of heaven was at hand and their King was in their midst).

• The majority of Church age doctrine would have to wait until it was given to His New Testament apostles and prophets after His death, burial, Resurrection, Ascension, and Glorification, with Paul playing a major role in sharing the mystery hidden from earlier ages and generations. 

• For forty days after His Resurrection from the dead, the Lord Jesus appeared to many of His disciples and followers, speaking of things concerning the kingdom of God.
• And so it was that after forty glorious, post-Resurrection days, the Lord Jesus gathered His followers together and commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for this promised heavenly Helper, the permanently, indwelling Holy Spirit Which the Father had pledged to send.

• The shock-horror of the cruel Cross, the distressing denial of His Lord at the unjust trial, the bewildering amazement at His glorious Resurrection, the breathtaking baptism of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the astonishing inclusion of the Gentiles into the family of God, and the many hidden mysteries of the Church that were almost entirely revealed to the apostle Paul, were all enfolded and yet enshrouded in one simple act - when Jesus rose from the Passover supper, poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet.

• The first four judgments depict four horsemen, who gallop onto the world scene bringing devastation and distress to a world that has rejected God's offer of salvation, through faith in Christ's sacrificial death on Calvary and His glorious resurrection from the dead.

• The spirit and soul of Stephen hastened heavenward that very moment to be with the Lord Whom he served... while his bloodied body was put in a grave until the bodily resurrection of the dead in Christ, at the Rapture of the Church.
• Paul summed up this beautiful picture of a servant suffering for the sake of his Lord with these words, that I may know CHRIST, and the power of His Resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death.

• When we were saved by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, we were positioned in Him and identified with Him.

• Other areas included Christ's rejection, suffering and death, His Resurrection, Ascension, and Glorification, the Rapture of the Church, the great and terrible 'Day of the Lord', His Second Coming, and our blessed hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.

• It is nearer than when we first heard the truth of the gospel of grace and placed our faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ: Therefore, we should lay aside the deeds of darkness and clothe ourselves in His protective armour of light.

• He also comforted them with an amazing truth when He confessed, I Am the resurrection and the life.

• But as for Your righteous ones, David concluded, as for me, he rejoiced, I will continue beholding Your face in righteousness. As for me, I will be satisfied with Your presence and content when I awake at the resurrection of God’s holy one, for I will be satisfied with Your likeness.

• Eternal life is only received by faith in His cruel death and His glorious Resurrection.

• Christ is the foundation and the corner-stone for the restoration of David's fallen tabernacle, for His death on the Cross was followed by resurrection, which results in restoration for all who believe.

• Following Christ's death, resurrection, ascension and glorification, we discover the murderous Saul of Tarsus being selected for a unique ministry by the Lord Jesus Himself, which he describes as: The dispensation of the grace of God.

• Christ's glorious Resurrection made us a new creation in Christ and gave us His indwelling life (in the Person of the Holy Spirit).

• Just before His death and Resurrection, the Lord Jesus prayed a wonderful prayer - a prayer that demonstrated the intimate relationship with the Father and the Son - a prayer for the protection of all believers during our time in this world - a prayer that Christ Himself would be given the glory He had with the Father before His sojourn on earth - a prayer that asked that all who are in Christ Jesus may be made one as He is one with the Father - a prayer that we will one day be with the Lord Jesus, and a prayer that one day we would see and participate in His own heavenly glory.

• The sacrificial death of Christ paid the penalty for our sin, but His glorious Resurrection broke the power of sin and death in our lives, for we were made a new creation in Christ and given a new life in Him.

• Being identified with His death on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection means that we are to die to self.

• The first few verses make various references to Christ's glorious Resurrection while the later verses make mention of the sacrificial offering of Himself on our account... which God will not despise.

• And when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, into the world so that the world through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection might be saved.

• He came to identify with His fallen creation so that by His substitutionary death and glorious Resurrection, He was able to overcome the shocking damage caused by Adam's sin and conquer man's greatest enemy: death.
• The wages of sin may be death, but the gift of God is eternal life to all who trust in His substitutionary death and glorious Resurrection: For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

• The death (and resurrection) of his son was to act as a type, or pattern, of the coming Messiah. 

• It is the truth of God and the way to God and is unambiguously linked to faith in Christ's death, burial and Resurrection as the only acceptable sacrifice for the forgiveness for sins and life everlasting.
• Prideful man does not want to be accountable to a holy God Who reads our hearts, understands our foolish ways, and insists that salvation is only by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Kinsman-Redeemer - Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God.

• OR, alternatively, they teach of nothing but a dead Jesus without linking His sacrificial death to His glorious Resurrection and present-day ministry in heaven.
• The eternal deity of Christ as a member of the triune Godhead is renounced, the humanity of Jesus is mocked, and His substitutional death, burial, and Resurrection is belittled.

• Christ's Resurrection from the dead is the foundation upon which the Christian faith rests, for it authenticates His divinity, proving Him to be the mighty Son of God, with the holy nature of God Himself.
• His Resurrection proves His power to forgive sins: For if Christ has not been raised from the dead, then our faith is worthless and we would still be in our sins.
• And so during those forty days of post-Resurrection teaching, the Lord spoke about the kingdom of God, which was now postponed until after the end of the Church age.

• And the promises that God has given to the Church, which is the Body of Christ, following His death, burial, and Resurrection, similarly rest on faith; faith in the only begotten Son of God.
• And the specific promises that God has given to the Church through New Testament apostles and prophets, apply to all who believe on the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of the only begotten Son of God.
• If the Law could have been fulfilled by man's righteousness, there would have been no need for a Saviour to pay the price for man's sin through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• Jesus prayed: Not My will but Thine be done, every day of His life so that after His death, burial, and Resurrection, His life could become our life, just as His death became our death.

• But it was his reliance on the logic of man, and his inability to see truth beyond his physical senses, that caused him to become labelled with the uncomplimentary title, 'doubting Thomas', for he would not accept the multiple eyewitness accounts of Christ's Resurrection because he himself, had not seen His resurrected Lord with his own eyes, nor had he touched the risen Saviour with his own hands - and so he made the astonishing claim, unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.

• Our sin nature and the sins we commit have to be punished, and Jesus took the full and final punishment that we deserve; but it is only and exclusively and unalterably by faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus that we can be fully and forever forgiven of our sins and placed in eternal union with Christ, by which we are brought back into a right relationship with our heavenly Father.
• May it never be, as Paul would say: God forbid that I should boast save in the death, burial and Resurrection of Christ my God.

• And we who have trusted in His death, burial, and Resurrection for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting, have been called to hold fast to our confession.
• We are commanded to stand firm on the witness of the Cross: Jesus is the Son of God; Jesus is our great High Priest; Jesus has put away our sin forever by His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection; Jesus ascended into heaven by passing through the heavens on our account; In Jesus are the words of eternal life. 

• The perfect Law of God was the guardian to convict us until Christ, for Christ is the fulfilment of the Law on our behalf so that by His death and Resurrection, we could be justified by grace through faith in Him, for we are not under law but under grace.

• Explaining future events required Paul to confirm things from the past, and the first section of the chapter lays out various proofs and a series of logical arguments for the resurrection of the dead.
• There is not only a 'resurrection to life' for the redeemed but also a 'resurrection to condemnation' for the unsaved.
• Indeed, our salvation depends on Christ's Resurrection.
• Also, we are reminded that following His Resurrection, the Lord Jesus was seen alive by over 500 eyewitnesses, many of whom were still living when Paul wrote his epistle.
• Paul wanted his reader to know for certain that Christ's Resurrection guarantees our own resurrection, for He is the First-fruit from the grave.
• And having outlined the gospel concerning Christ's victory over death and the certainty of our resurrection, we discover that the Church is the first group to be raised 'at His coming'.
• Having explained that Christians will be resurrected and raptured before the 70th week of Daniel, Paul passes right over the Great Tribulation, the resurrection of Old Testament saints, the return of Christ after Armageddon, and His entire 1000-year rule on earth, to a particular event at the very end of His millennial rule.

• Both pre-Cross and post-Resurrection sinners have to reach the point where they confess their need of God, confess that they are a sinner in need of salvation (for only those who believe on His name for forgiveness through Christ, are credited with His righteousness).

• Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are called, the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, and through faith in Christ's sacrificial work on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection, our names are, enrolled in heaven.
• Because of our faith in Christ, we have the right to be called 'sons of God' and through His glorious Resurrection, we will participate in the first resurrection - the resurrection to life.
• As members of the Church of the Firstborn, we will participate in the first resurrection - the resurrection of all believers.

• What a travesty when we forget that we have been cleansed from all unrighteousness, by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection.

• But the glorious Resurrection of Christ to eternal life, is unique in the history of mankind and magnifies His distinctive position in the human race as the second Man, the last Adam, the federal Head of the new creation, His Body, the Church.
• Without Christ's Resurrection there could be no resurrection from the dead for you or for me.
• But as members of His Body, we are in Christ, such that His death became our death and His Resurrection became our resurrection.
• If Christ had not risen from the dead, there would be no imputed righteousness, no new creation, no Head of the Church, and no resurrection of the Body: For if Christ has not been raised, our faith would be worthless and we would still be in our sins.

• Hebrews is a book that not only opens God's progressive plan of redemption for Christians today, but was originally written to help Jewish Christians in the early Church to understand that a change in dispensations took place with the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

• In his introductory remarks, Peter scatters before us the manifold wisdom of God, the superabundant blessings that are ours in Christ, the multiplied glories of salvation, and the eternal inheritance which is kept for us in heaven; all of which we receive by His grace, through faith in Christ's sacrificial death, burial, and Resurrection.

• Before the death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, we were all condemned under the Law, but in Him we have died to the Law, by grace through faith in Him.

• Satanic attacks in the Old Testament sought to prevent Christ's First Coming... and ongoing, post-Resurrection attacks are designed to prevent His return.

• God foreknew before the world began, whether you or I would trust in the death, burial, and Resurrection of His only begotten Son.
• And that will happen when we finally behold His face at the glorious resurrection: For the trumpet will sound and the dead in Christ shall be raised incorruptible.

• The wonderful story of redemption is picked up by Peter following the death, burial, Resurrection, and Ascension of the Lord Jesus.
• And he rejoiced because of all that occurred at Christ's Resurrection, Ascension, Glorification, and Exaltation to the right hand of God.

• The almighty strength of the Son of Man far outstripped the power of Legion, but it would be His death and Resurrection that would gain the full and final victory over Satan and the evil principalities, powers, demons, and devils that had enslaved man since the fall.

• Because we were identified with Christ in His death, we are similarly identified with His life through His Resurrection.
• Praise God that the certain consequence of our identification with Christ's death and Resurrection by faith is our full and final sanctification: spirit, soul, and body. 

• The nature of man is sinful, for man is a sinner who was born dead in trespasses and sins, but Christ came into the world to save sinners and to rescue them from the clutches of the Evil One, and by His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, He has destroyed the works of the devil and put an end to his wicked ways.

• He knew victory over sin, Satan, death, and hell, would be gained following His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, but first He had to face the terrors of the Cross when He would bear the sin of the world on His shoulders.

• Let us rejoice and be glad that we have been saved by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, for Christ is the Head of the Church, we are members of His Body, in Him we have all we need for life and godliness.

• John also announces that Christ is the Son of God, the Lamb of God: Who takes away the sin of the world He is the King of Israel, Son of Man, Saviour of the World, the Resurrection, and the Life.

• He believed the disciples had stolen the body and invented the story of resurrection.

• Christ was clearly identified as the seed of David according to the flesh, but He was also to be identified as the Son of the Most High God according to the Spirit, as evidenced through His supernatural Resurrection from the dead and Ascension into heaven.

• It is often in connection with His birth that Jesus is thought of as the only begotten of the Father, but in reality it is in connection with His Resurrection that Christ is begotten of the Father.
• And at His Resurrection, the Lord Jesus became the first begotten of the dead, thus becoming the federal Head of a completely new creation.
• How we praise our heavenly Father that Christ was made a little lower than the angels for a short time so that by means of His sacrificial death, burial, and Resurrection, He should be become the firstfruit of the dead, be crowned with honour and great glory, and have everything placed in subjection under His feet, so that by faith in Him we might have life and have it more abundantly.

• His incarnation and unique birth, His tests and temptations, His sinless life and obedient death, His Resurrection, Ascension, glorification, and exultation are all aspects of the person of Christ: And you belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God.

• The Church was not a 'quick-fix' by God when Israel refused to trust in His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection.

• Christ identified with our sinfulness so that, as the federal Head of God's new creation, believers are identified with His righteousness: For you have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. But we are also identified with His death: You died with Christ. We are identified with His burial: You were buried with Christ. We are identified with His resurrection: You have been raised with Christ.
• Our identification with Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection not only paid the penalty for our sin, but has also severed us from our relationship with Adam It has transferred us from Adam's fallen, sinful race, where we were imputed with sin, into Christ's new, perfected race, where we are imputed with Christ's righteousness. 

• God's redemptive plan for fallen man included the Cross, the Resurrection, the Tribulation, and the Millennial Kingdom.

• Without His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection, we would be totally alienated from God - condemned sinners bound for the Lake of Fire.

• There was the mystery of the Rapture of the Church and the resurrection of the Body of Christ.

• Paul used Christ's own death and resurrection to lay the foundation for a very important teaching about our future; that a day is coming when all Christians will be clothed in a new, resurrected body, after we have travelled through the portal of death.

• As members of Christ’s Mystical Body, should we not joyfully identify with Christ’s earthly suffering – knowing that He lived and died so that we might be identified with His heavenly glory and live eternally?Yes, we should rejoice - exceedingly, that we as members of His Body and partakers of His sufferings – for it is by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection that we have not only been forgiven of our sin and clothed in His righteousness, but we are His blood-bought children, who have a blessed hope, a glorious future, and life everlasting - amen.

• Although Paul had made reference to this dispensation of grace earlier in his epistle, he felt it necessary to explain in greater detail the importance and significance of the Christian administration. God's governance of the world until the Cross had been through His chosen people Israel, but following the Cross and the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, God revealed that He was about to use a different form of governance.

• God reconciled man back to Himself and restored the relationship between Jew and Gentile, through Christ's shed blood on a Roman cross and His glorious Resurrection from the dead.

• The sign Christ spoke of prefigured His own passion, death, burial, and Resurrection from the grave.
• The only sign Jesus would give this brood of vipers who were wilfully blind, was that of His death, burial, and Resurrection from the dead, after being buried for three days.
• This 'sign of the prophet Jonah' is the most amazing sign they could have been given, for the Resurrection of Christ is the sign that secures the resurrection to life of all believers, for He is the First-fruit from the dead. 
• The Resurrection of Christ from the grave is the most compelling sign He could have given to these disbelieving Jews, and a few were brought to faith following His Resurrection and Ascension into heaven.
• The Resurrection of Jesus continues to be a sign that has caused countless unbelieving people who desire to know 'who moved the stone' to come to faith.
• His death, burial, and Resurrection is the most thrilling truth for all who have trusted Christ for salvation for we KNOW that because He lives, we too will live.

• Without the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, there is no forgiveness of sin and without trusting in His death, burial, and resurrection to save, we remain dead in our sin and without hope in the world.

• At the end of his life, as he faced death for Christ's sake, the apostle Paul's deep desire was, that I may know Christ, and the power of His resurrection and fellowship in His sufferings. Paul was ready to be identified with Christ's suffering and shame - and we should seek to follow his example.

• Indeed, the ultimate Seed of Abraham was Christ Who was the promised Son through Whom all the families of the earth would be blessed, by His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection. 
• It is his spiritual descendants who become sons and heirs, through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus.

• The fifteenth chapter of first Corinthians provides the most comprehensive treaties on the resurrection of the body, and life eternal for the believer, in Scripture..
• It is because of the absolute certainty of our resurrection from the dead, when we shall be clothed with a new body, like unto Christ's glorious, resurrected body of flesh and bone, that Paul devoted a whole chapter to the important issue of the resurrection of the dead.
• Step by step, Paul opened the truth to these confused Christians, and answered all the questions that had caused these believers to doubt the legitimacy of the bodily resurrection.
• He used historical evidence, logical arguments, theological grounds, and practical reasoning to show that the resurrection of the dead was a major part of God's amazing plan of salvation, for the redemption of mankind.
• He explained that there was an order and structure to the resurrection.
• Paul laid out the moral value of the resurrection, and explained the different types of bodies there are, and the degrees of glory that those who believe in Him will one day reach.
• He wanted these Corinthians Christians to understand that because Christ sacrificial death and glorious resurrection broke the power of sin and death, ALL who believe in Him have the same victory over sin and death and will also be raised to life in a new, incorruptible, resurrected body.
• Paul's extensive treatise on the resurrection was written to teach the truth to encourage Christians..
• and give assurance to ALL who would place their faith in Christ, that the resurrection of the body is an indisputable, biblical truth, which we will all experience at God's appointed time.
• Christ's resurrection from the dead is an undeniable fact which should rejoice our heart, and Paul concludes his discourse with the following instructions, therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.
• Because we KNOW death has been conquered and eternal life with Christ Jesus our Lord is our free gift of grace, we should delight to do His will and never waiver in our faith, for our resurrection means that our work for God will not be ineffective.
• Those who believe, have a most glorious assurance and thrilling confidence, that every promise of God will be fulfilled, including the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.
• The day is fast approaching when we will be clothed in our resurrection bodies, for when we see Him we shall be like Him.

• Until Christ's resurrection, James was at enmity with God and scornful towards his older sibling.

• The resurrection of the body is a blessed biblical truth that is often overlooked or misunderstood.
• Although there is one salvation, which embraces us, spirit, soul, and body, the Bible mentions two resurrections 1) the resurrection of the just and 2) the resurrection of the wicked. 1) the resurrection of the saved and 2) the resurrection of the unsaved. 1) the resurrection of saints and 2) the resurrection of the damned.
• Every man experiences the first death, which is a physical death, but only those that are part of the second resurrection - the resurrection of the wicked, will experience the second death.
• It is unbelievers who did not trust in Christ for their salvation who are part of the second resurrection... and they will experience the second death.
• Jesus was the first-fruit from the dead and all who trust in Him will partake in the first resurrection, with a body of flesh and bone.
• Those who are part of the first resurrection will not be hurt by the second death.
• There are a number of groups that are part of the first resurrection, 1) Jesus Christ.  2) The New Testament Church. 3) The Tribulation Saints. 4) The Old Testament Saints. 5) The Millennial believers.
• All are part of the first resurrection because all have been justified, by faith.
• The very next group in line for the 'first resurrection' after Jesus are US - New Testament, Church-age saints!
• Both the dead in Christ and all living believers will participate in the 'first resurrection' when Christ comes in the clouds to take us to our heavenly home.
• The resurrection of the Tribulation Saints and the Old Testament Saints will occur at the end of the Tribulation period at Christ's Second Coming, and Millennial believers will be resurrected after the Millenium.
• It is the Tribulation Saints about whom Revelation 20:6 is written, Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ.
• It is wonderful to know that all who have trusted God and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ will take part in this glorious 'first resurrection' but how sombre to realise that all who have rejected God's offer of salvation will have to take part in the 'second resurrection' and will have to face the second death - the lake of fire and eternal separation from their long-suffering God and gracious Saviour.

• The eternal Son of God was the Word made flesh, born as a perfect man, carrying out the work of salvation for the sin of the world by His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection.

• Unsaved sinners are condemned, and their iniquity separates them from God until they believe and are brought near to God through faith in the death, burial , and Resurrection of Jesus.

• The Resurrection of our Lord was a further astonishment, despite the many prophetic voices of Israel's past prophets and Christ's own repetitive warnings of His forthcoming betrayal, passion, death, and Resurrection.

• We are to have confidence on all that the Lord Jesus carried out at Calvary and depend on the saving work that His death and Resurrection provides for all who trust on Him and rest in His truth.

• Following forty glorious post-resurrection days, the risen Lord Jesus led His little band of disciples out from the tiny town of Bethany to the beautiful Mount of Olives, where He spoke to them for the very last time before being taken from them, into heaven.

• Although many Jewish people believed on Him after His Resurrection, Israel missed the Day of her Visitation 2000 years ago, and crucified her Saviour.

• He reminds us that because of our identification with Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection, we have won the victory.

• In place of the wisdom of God, they espouse a worldly wisdom which is rooted in man-made, egotistical philosophies which carefully circumvent everything to do with the death of Christ and His glorious Resurrection.
• But the truth is that Christ's death and Resurrection is the foundation upon which our Christian faith is established.

• The death and Resurrection of Christ was a complete and final victory over sin, for Christ not only died FOR our sins so that we might be reconciled to God and saved from the consequences of sin (which is eternal separation from God), but He also died UNTO sin so that His life would become our life, and the strangle-hold that sin held over us would be broken forever.
• Praise God that the death and Resurrection of Christ was a complete and final victory over sin.

• Death has no power over the saved man, for when the physical body expires, both the spirit and soul of the righteous go to be with the Lord forever, while their empty, bodily shell, waits in the grave for the glorious resurrection of the dead.

• Having just read about Christ's appearance to two of His disciples as they walked along the road, and having just recorded that Jesus rebuked His disciples for their unbelief and hardness of heart by refusing to believe the eyewitness accounts of Christ's Resurrection, we read that Jesus gave the disciples His great missionary commission: Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all people.
• There are many that believe in the historical Jesus and His moral teachings without believing in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection for the forgiveness of their sins and life everlasting.

• God has, by grace, promised those that trust in the Lord Jesus as Saviour, the most astonishing riches of His grace and inheritance in His glory; but without the death of our Lord Jesus Christ as payment for our sins we would never have experienced these joys, and without the Resurrection of our Lord, the power of death and hell would not have been broken.
• Christ's glorious Resurrection from the dead is the unfailing assurance of our hope of glory in Christ.
• Paul is very clear that without the Resurrection, we should be pitied more than anyone for believing in a false fake hope: For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either.
• Christ rose from the dead and showed Himself to many hundreds of witnesses, and His Resurrection is the First-fruit of all those that are asleep in Him.

• They probably 'witnessed' His Crucifixion, Resurrection, and Ascension, and they will return to earth as 'witnesses' to preach a message of judgement on all who will not repent and believe.

• And the Bible tells us we are justified by believing on the finished work of Christ: Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus. It is by faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus alone, that man is justified: This is the work of God, that you believe in Him Whom He has sent.

• Paul pointed out that before this new administration of God's grace was revealed to him, it had been a mystery: a truth known only in the mind of God; a truth that had been hidden for ages and generations; a mystery that was now to be unveiled to all who believe on the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• God raised Him from the dead and His Resurrection put an end to the agony of death.
• But every member of the Trinity was involved in Christ's glorious Resurrection: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, were jointly responsible for this wonderful miracle.

• He addresses every possible distortion of the glorious gospel of grace in his carefully constructed epistle, and lays out the simple and astonishing truth: that man is saved by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the God-Man, Christ Jesus our Lord.

• From other passages, we understand that the 'end times' or 'last days' started in the times of the disciples with Christ's death, burial, Resurrection, and Ascension, and will continue until His Second Coming to set up His earthly kingdom.
• Additional revelation about His imminent return in the clouds for the Church and the resurrection of the 'dead-in-Christ' when the trump of God is sounded, was a later revelation given to New Testament apostles and prophets. 

• The critical thing is to believe that Jesus, the God-Man, was anointed of God the Father to be the Messiah of Israel and Saviour of the world, and that His death satisfied God's righteous justice, broke the power of sin, and paid the full price for the accumulated sin of mankind, while His Resurrection demonstrated that the power of death and hell was forever broken.

• We are saved by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and Paul strove to make it clear that the human mindset of these Judaisers destroys the truth of God's Word, and legalism is an anathema to the Lord.
• May we never forget that Christ alone paid the penalty for our sin by His sacrificial death, and He alone broke its power in our life through His glorious Resurrection.

• Only through His death and Resurrection, could Christ disarm the principalities and powers and make a public spectacle of the satanic realms; triumphing over them by the Cross.

• The Lord did a work FOR us, but since the Cross and Resurrection, it is the Holy Spirit of Truth Who works WITHIN us.

• These believers were anticipating the resurrection of the 'Dead-in-Christ'.
• They believed Paul's teachings on the resurrection of the dead, but their excitement quickly turned to concern as they began to fear they had missed the Rapture of the saints and had entered the great and terrible 'Day of the Lord'.

• Some anonymous believer in Christ must have been responsible for teaching the people in Rome about the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of sins for all who believe on His name.

• The love of God for us is displayed, from the beginning of Christ's ministry - it is displayed from His birth in Bethlehem to His sacrificial offering on the Cross and glorious Resurrection.
• Our loving, heavenly Father did not spare His dearly beloved Son, but delivered Him up to be crucified for us all - so that by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, we might be redeemed and declared holy - by faith.
• He was simply reiterating the same glorious commandment that he himself had heard, from the lips of the Lord Jesus, just before His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection - so many years before.

• It was the prophets of old that foretold of the coming Messiah and prophesied of His birth, His life, His crucifixion, and Resurrection, and it was through them that signs and warnings were given in connection with His first and second comings, as well as much that will take place in the Millennial reign of Christ.

• In the knowledge of what God has done for us through the life, death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, shouldn't we be joyful with exceeding great joy?

• The other would be the Incarnate Word of the living God Whose sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection would pay the price of sin for every sinner born of woman and every woman conceived through man.

• We identify with His life, His death, His resurrection, and His righteousness. Those who trust in Jesus as Saviour are made a new creation in Him and receive a new life in Christ - His death becomes our death, His resurrection becomes our resurrection, and we are clothed in His perfect righteousness. 
• He was a Man who looked to the needs of others and One Who had to go through much pain and suffering, rejection and betrayal, hatred and bitter grief so that by His death, burial, and resurrection, He could save us from our sin and bring many sons to glory - by grace through faith in Him.

• Some erroneously teach that Christ was no more than a created being, and others that He was only given the status of a deity following His incarnation, His baptism, or His Resurrection.

• Christ: the anointed Messiah of Israel, and Saviour of humanity, Whom the Father anointed to become the Redeemer of the world and sacrificial Lamb of God, and about Whose perfect life, substitutionary death, wonderful Resurrection, and eternal rule the prophets of old wrote about in the Holy Scriptures.
• But He was also the propitiation for our sin, for by being born into the human race He became our Kinsman-Redeemer Whose sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection paid the price of our sin with His own death, a penalty all guilty sinners justly deserve.

• We are to know and understand the significance of being identified with Christ... in both His death and His Resurrection if we are to live the consecrated life that Paul promoted and to which Timothy was called.

• May we who have come to a saving faith in the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of our Saviour Jesus Christ, take to heart the character traits that should be evident in the life of the spiritual man or woman.

• They would become part of the new creation, when they were born-again, and this would happen by grace through faith in Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection.

• His voluntary death was succeeded by His glorious Resurrection.

• Trusting the Lord is simply believing that the one and only Way God has provided for fallen man to be saved, is through the sacrificial death and glorious resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

• But we have also been blessed to receive a third 'book' from our Creator God: The Holy Scriptures, which not only detail God's wonderful creation week, but His amazing plan of salvation, that fallen man can be saved by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Who laid aside His heavenly glory to be born into this sinful, rebellious race of man so that all who believe in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection would not perish, but have everlasting life.

• Without the resurrection of the body, Christ's sacrificial work on the Cross would be incomplete.
• He is the First-fruit from the dead and this is the thrilling truth: the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Kinsman-Redeemer, guarantees the resurrection to life of all believers.
• Christ's Resurrection was a trigger point in the history of mankind that set in motion the full and final defeat of all God's enemies.
• The Resurrection of Christ ignited a fuse that will bring every prophecy connected with His Second Coming and 1000-year rule on earth to pass.

• Jesus is the Second Person of the Trinity, Who was fully and finally revealed to the world through the birth, life, death, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Numerous prophecies give details of His coming to earth as a babe in Bethlehem, His ministry on earth, His sacrificial death, His glorious Resurrection, and His victory over Satan.

• But one vital element is that the early Church delivered a powerful testimony of the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• But the Resurrection also gave each believer a future hope and great confidence, for in Christ the power of sin and death is forever defeated in the lives of all who trust in Him: And abundant grace was upon them all.
• May our testimony for the Lord reflect the same confidence in Christ as we boldly proclaim the good news of the death, burial, and Resurrection of our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

• Only those who believe on His death, burial, and Resurrection for the remission of sins are exempt from God's wrath.
• Only those who are saved by grace through faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection are no longer under God's condemnation.

• for it is only because of His glorious resurrection from the dead, that we have the unshakable assurance that our bodies will also be raised to life immortal.
• He alone will protect us from the wrath to come for He alone conquered death and hell at the Cross forever - and only through faith in HIM, will this mortal put on immortality and this corruptible body be clothed in an incorruptible resurrection.
• It is His glorious resurrection that gained victory over death and hell.
• Faith in Him alone secures the promised hope of our bodily resurrection and life with Him in the heavenly realm.
• Christ shed His blood for our sin... but His resurrection from the dead, in a body of flesh and bone, is our assurance that we too will rise into life immortal.
• Without Christ's resurrection, we would be forgiven of our sin but remain in the grave.
• Although death was brought into this world through a man who sinned, it was also through the MAN Who did not sin that resurrection from the dead was secured for all who would believe.

• Just as the Transfiguration was a tiny preview into the coming earthly kingdom, when Christ would rule and reign as King of kings and Lord of lords, so the things that Christ said to His followers and the things that Christ did with His disciples following His Resurrection was also a tiny foretaste of the coming Church dispensation: A time when believers not only have peace with God by grace through faith in His death, burial and Resurrection, but they have the peace of God in their hearts.

• Surely, for all who can look to the Lord Jesus in His death and resurrection and declare, truly this is the Son of God - this is the Saviour of the world, - life can never ever be the same again.

• Trusting in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the only begotten and sinless Son of God, is the one and only price that is acceptable by a righteous God as payment for our sins.

• It was Jesus Who came to earth as our Kinsman-Redeemer, shed His blood on the Cross for our redemption, and broke the power of sin and death in our lives through His glorious Resurrection.

• Praise God that the glory of the Cross includes Christ's resurrection from the dead, as well as his death on the Cross... for God raised Him from the dead so that all who trust in Him for the forgiveness of sins would not perish, but receive His everlasting life.
• God turned the greatest tragedy into the greatest triumph, for through Christ's death, the penalty of sin was paid and by means of His resurrection, the power of death in the lives of all who believe was broken forever - for although Christ was delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, glorified His servant Jesus Whom today is seated on the right hand of the Almighty in power and great glory - and He deserves our everlasting glory, thanks, honour, and praise.

• John no doubt recalled Christ's words of wisdom and His life-give teachings as he reflected on those three amazing years when Jesus walked with them in the way, taught them by the sea, was transfigured before their eyes on the holy mount of God, and transported up into the heavens following His glorious Resurrection from the dead.

• He is the Light of the world, and in Him is Life, for He is the Fountain of Life, the Water of Life, the Tree of Life, the Bread of Life - the Resurrection and the Life.

• Romans is also identified as the gospel of Christ, for the Lord Jesus effected it by His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection.

• Let our hearts desire be to reflect the yearning desire of the ageing apostle Paul, who near the end of his life cried out, That I may know Christ and the power of His resurrection and participate in the fellowship of His suffering, so that our Christian religion may be pure and undefiled, and our relationship with the Lord Jesus become increasingly intimate.

• Christ rising from the dead gave proof of His perfectly fulfilling the Law, and we are similarly identified with His resurrection life.

• That I may know the power of Christ's Resurrection.3.
• It was the act of the Resurrection that was the indisputable evidence that identified Christ as the Son of God with power.
• It was His glorious Resurrection that demonstrated His own mighty power that works in His children - the saints of God.
• The accomplishment of His Resurrection raises all that believe in Him from spiritual death to a new life in Christ.
• Oh, the Cross gave forgiveness of sins, but the Resurrection broke the power of sin and death that reigns in the mortal body of fallen man so that we too may rise to newness of life, in Christ: That I may know this mighty power of Christ's Resurrection.

• There is one Lord Who is God of all creation, and the offer of salvation, which He provides by faith in the sacrificial death and glorious resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, is equally available to all people, Jew and Gentile, black and white, free or in bondage, male and female, young and old... for all have sinned and all fall far short of the glory of God and the godly perfection He requires.

• The bodily resurrection of Christ is our assurance that we too will be resurrected from the dead.

• We love Him for all that He suffered on the Cross for us, for the life that He gives us through His Resurrection, and for the glory that He is preparing for us in heaven.

• How precious to know that by His death and Resurrection we have been born into His family and have obtained the secure knowledge that we have an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, will never fade away, and which is kept for us in heaven.

• Every believer is placed in union with Christ, (positionally sanctified) the moment they place their trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins.

• Just as a physical being comes before a spiritual being and a natural birth must precede a spiritual birth, so our bodily resurrection must take place before our spiritual resurrection.
• Paul explains that the physical resurrection of the 'dead in Christ' whose decomposing bodies are lying in the cold, dank earth, are returned to life in a split-second; in a moment of time, which the apostles describe as 'the twinkling of an eye'.

• By His sacrificial work and glorious resurrection, He has broken the power of sin and Satan, death and hell, in the lives of all who believe on Him.
• The black heavens were rent, and the empty tomb stood witness on that resurrection morn, accompanied by the climax of God's majestic proclamation in Psalms, THIS DAY... this (resurrection) day have I begotten Thee.

• They are declared righteous because they have trusted Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection for their salvation.
• These false teachers were mixing up elements of God's Mosaic Law with the post-Resurrection teachings that were given to Paul and the other apostles in the dispensation of grace.

• And so by means of His glorious Resurrection He also broke the power of death in the lives of all those who would believe in Him.

• So, my dear brothers, since future victory is sure, be strong and steady, always abounding in the Lord’s work, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever wasted as it would be if there were no resurrection. 

• It was Jewish legalism that required all Gentile believers to be circumcised, arguing that without participation in this ritual, no-one was able to be redeemed by Christ's death and would have no part in His Resurrection victory.
• There is only one way to be sanctified and there is only one way to get to heaven, and it is by God's amazing grace, through faith in the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of the LORD JESUS CHRIST, the eternal Son of God and perfect Son of Man.

• Christ's sacrificial death and glorious resurrection, was the pivotal point in history when all who believe in God's only begotten Son became overcomers.

• His death on the Cross and resurrection from the grave brought many sons to glory, which makes the Lord Jesus the Source of our salvation and the Perfector of our salvation.
• In the midst of the assembly, I will praise You.  This Messianic prophecy, penned by David, was beautifully fulfilled by Christ through His death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and identification with all who believe on His name.
• He was made sin for us and paid the full price of sin... so that by His life, death, and resurrection, He was able to reveal the Father to us and to proclaim His name to all who believe... even calling us His brothers and leading the congregation of the elect in singing hymns of praise and thanksgiving to our great Creator God and heavenly Father.

• The wisdom of God is clearly laid out in the written Word of God for all who have eyes to see: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ; trust in the message of the Cross; have faith in the sacrificial death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

• Sadly, the very Nation who had been chosen by God tell the world the gospel of the coming Kingdom of God, had to be replaced - for a season - by those who believed in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, for the salvation of their souls and the forgiveness of sin.

• We are saved by trusting in His death, burial, and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting.

• It is the prison in which the fallen angels of Genesis 6 are kept in chains of darkness, while Paradise, which is sometimes called 'Abraham's Bosom' is where believers were kept until Christ took the spirits and souls of the righteous, into heaven, following His glorious Resurrection from the dead.

• How appropriate that he should quote that wonderful prophetic Psalm of David, who foresaw the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and foretold that the God of Israel would not leave their Messiah in a cold, damp, tomb to decay and disintegrate, but would raise Him up to newness of life so that all who believe on Him, would not perish but have everlasting life.

• Jesus opened the Scriptures to His disciples following His Resurrection, showing how He was the central figure to which the Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms pointed.

• It was by the grace of God that Paul laboured more abundantly than all the other apostles of Christ, to spread the good news with the lost - yet at the end of his life, he prayed fervently: That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings.

• For much of His ministry, the Lord Jesus was teaching the gospel of the kingdom to none but the lost sheep of the house or Israel, but as the animosity and hatred towards their promised Messiah became increasingly evident among the Jewish leaders, Jesus began to prepare His little band of disciples for the significant changes that were about to take place after His Crucifixion, Resurrection, and Ascension.

• Christ is incarnate truth, while sin is the personification of a wicked and cruel slave-master, from whom there is no escape, except by grace through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

• As the hour for His death and Resurrection loomed ever closer, Jesus sought to prepare His disciples for their physical separation from Himself, with an illustration that accompanies the birth of every little baby.

• This Blessed Hope, when we are taken to be with Jesus, at the resurrection of the dead - the Rapture of the Church, is a right and a privilege that is given for ALL who are saved by grace through faith in Christ.

• For a whole chapter, Paul has been deconstructing the false teaching of classical philosophers and certain religious groups, who declared that there was no resurrection from the dead.
• The resurrection of the dead is a doctrine that threads its way throughout both Old and New Testaments and is the foundational pillar of the Christian faith - for if Christ had not been raised from the dead, then our faith would be in vain and we would remain in our sin.
• As Christians, our identification with Christ's Resurrection is the absolute assurance that we who have been saved by grace through faith in Him, will likewise be raised from the dead into newness of life - for we are saved... spirit, soul, and body, and we will have resurrection bodies like unto His glorious body.
• Paul's motive in laying out this carefully constructed argument, is to prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that the veracity of the Resurrection and the certainty that we too will be raised from the dead, is steadfast and true.
• Paul was ready and willing to give an answer for the hope that was in him, when challenged about the resurrection of the body from the dead.
• Paul covers historical reasons, logical arguments, experiential causes, and theological evidences, in his defence of the Resurrection, and provides additional detail by answering any objections that may be raised.
• He also gives a description of the glories of the resurrection body and details of the Rapture of the living saints - who will be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye - at the last trump.
• Both the Resurrection and Rapture are glorious truths that give great encouragement to Christians - especially in times of hardship, which is why Paul wrote his extended treatise on the Resurrection... and concluded with the exhortation: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.
• Paul's doctrinal lecture on the Resurrection closes with some practical instructions, for we are to stand fast on the truth of the Word of God.
• Indeed, we are to test the teachings of those that in any way, contradict the Word of God, and we are to be ready to answer anyone who questions our blessed hope in Christ, and the promise of our bodily resurrection.

• It is certainly a question that many of us have asked over the years as we see an increasing hatred of God, a multiplication of sin and evil, and an ever greater distain towards those that believe in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting.

• This means that the moment we were saved, we were identified with His death - we died with Christ, and we are also identified with His Resurrection, which means we shall also live with Him.

• Because of our faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, we are called children of God and have a dear and gracious heavenly Father Who is the God of all mercies.

• Christ Jesus is the incarnate Son of God Who came to earth to reveal the love of the Father towards fallen man so that by grace through faith in His death, burial, and Resurrection we might be forgiven of our sins, be brought back into fellowship with our Heavenly Father, and be given God's life, light, love, and compassion in our heart as we abide in Him and He in us.

• As Christ's ministry speeded towards His death, so His teachings became more urgent as He set about preparing the hearts of His followers for His forthcoming crucifixion and glorious Resurrection on the third day.
• It is easy for us to look back to that journey to Jerusalem and condemn Christ's chosen apostles for failing to understand the enormity of the information He shared with them, and the significance of His death, burial, and Resurrection on the third day.

• He came to earth in human flesh - to die for the sin of the whole world, and to rise again the third day so that by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, we might be delivered from the evils that Daniel witnessed in his terrible and terrifying night vision.

• He used three ways to prove that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of the living God - His miracles, His Resurrection, and His Ascension into heaven.
• This verse spoke of the bodily resurrection of God's Anointed, yet David was still in the tomb and his body had decayed.
• The miracles Christ performed, His sacrificial death, His glorious Resurrection, and His Ascension into heaven to sit on the right hand of God the Father, are a few of the prophecies within Peter's sermon, when he quoted David's words about Christ - that God would not abandon His soul to Hades, nor would He allow Christ Jesus, the Holy One of God, to decay in the grave.

• Peter had the distinct privilege of being one of the few people who witnessed a glimpse of Christ's heavenly majesty and eternal glory which He laid aside so that by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, we might receive salvation.

• We are aware that Jesus descended to earth at His birth and ascended after His Resurrection from the dead.
• This took place between His death and Resurrection, during the time that His physical body lay lifeless in the tomb. This place of the dead is often called 'Abraham's bosom' or 'Paradise'.
• Jesus ascended from the tomb at His glorious Resurrection from the grave.
