• Seeming Contradictions It seems the word of God is full of antonyms and seeming contradictions, for instance, Paul tells us, “For my strength is made perfect in weakness.” and: “Whosoever will save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it”. Luke 9:24.

• What a source of comfort and strength for the lost, weary, hurting traveller.
• What a picture of strength and power, when you feel alone in the world. An anchor-less ship is in danger of drifting on a sea of trouble.

• Scripture abounds with examples that God is my Strength, my Stay, my Assurance.

• Spiritual Courage Physical courage may be admired – but it can sometimes be foolish. Spiritual courage when battling the unseen enemy is truly what counts. That inward strength does not come from pumping up your own nerve.
• When in our heart we can truly say, ‘God is my courage…” then we have confidence – quiet confidence and unshakable strength that He will enable us in all things.
• Go and step out into today’s unknown, in His strength and His courage. Have I not commanded you?

• Expression of Joy In Nehemiah 8:10 we read that: the joy of the Lord is my strength.  The joy of the Lord is my daily strength and stay – but how often the joy that He provides is replaced with failure and defeat.

• Man’s Deficient Strength Have you ever run a marathon – and finished first? Those who do rejoice greatly, like a strong man to run his race, as we read in Psalm 19:5  Oh, there is much joy and satisfaction in moral and physical strength, but the man that is perfect in physical strength depends on many things: nourishing food to replenish and build up the power of sinews and muscles; sufficient sleep and a carefully constructed workout, to maintain peak fitness – and how we love to look fit and sleek and how we love to confidently complete the race, and how we wish we were even fitter, fleeter, and faster!
• God’s Eternal Strength The Psalms abound with references to strength and do we not rejoice with Joshua who cried, Be strong and of good courage … Be strong and very courageous, have I not commanded you – be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
• Yet in his wisdom, Paul admonishes us that:- bodily “exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things. 1 Timothy 4:8  And in the leading of the Spirit, he again reminds us – My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in your weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9
• And soon we discover that the references to strength are not quite what they seem.
• In Revelation, we read: Now is come salvation and strength… the power of His Christ has come  Revelation 12:10  while in Joshua we read: Be strong and very courageous, for the LORD your God is with you. Oh yes, we are reminded that – God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness.
• Biblical Examples The power of every David and Deborah – the strength of every Samson and Joshua, is all and only and fully and completely dependent on the strength of the Lord – not on their own strength.
• The sweet Psalmist of Israel reminds us that God is our strength, and in Psalm 28:8 we read: The LORD is their strength, and He is the saving refuge of His anointed, while Nehemiah rejoices to remind us that..
• the joy of the LORD is your strength.  Nehemiah 8:10
• God’s Strength Made Perfect It is not the brawn of the mighty man nor the speed of the marathon runner, that is the thing that we should desire to develop..

• We live in a time when the pagan mindset of the world is eroding Christian homes, but God will honour all that, in His strength, teach their children to love the Lord.

• Presence of God Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God. We also read that Cain went out from the presence of the Lord. To Moses He said My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. The psalmist tells us, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. The Father shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever. Oh yes, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

• Paul said I can do all things through Him who strengthens me, Phil.4:13 – for I can do nothing except as I do it in the strength of Christ.

• God’s Secret Hand Habakkuk tells us of a hiding of His power – a veiling of His strength. Most often in this church age it appears that God’s hand is working secretly. We read that ‘the secret hand’ of God was strong against the Amalakite enemy – in the Septuagint translation of the Scriptures.
• Mighty To Save Moses is an example of a man that remained strong in the mighty strength of God –  and as Moses raised his rod of intercession before the Lord – God was mighty to save.
• God’s Mighty Strength God’s mighty strength is just as powerful and potent today as in past generations. No matter when or how the enemy attacks – God works secretly in our time too. God has a sovereign plan and a purpose – which is laid out in the Scripture. It is a perfect plan – written in eternity past,

• In our own strength, it engenders despair – but in Christ, it is gloriously achievable.

• God’s intention was that man would fulfil the righteous requirements of the Law in dependence upon Him – rather than relying on his own abilities, strength, or wisdom.
• Impossible Requirement God knew that sinful man could never achieve the perfection that the Law required, but Israel confidently announced – all that the Lord has spoken to us, we will do!  Exodus 19:8   This worthy pronouncement to do the will of God sounds commendable to the ear of fallen man – but it displays man’s pride, and demonstrates independence from God. God in His wisdom knew that it was needful for man to try to be perfect in his own strength and fail, to realise he was unable to reach the perfection God required.
• He would not have known that coveting was wrong if the Law had not said, “You must not covet.” King Saul was also a prideful man who tried to address the problem of life in his own fleshly strength, rather than depending on God’s provision and trusting His word. The Galatians were a group of believers who demonstrated pride, rebellion, and independence from God, by insisting that the righteous requirements of the Law should be achieved by human merit – having failed to learn God’s vital lesson.
• Man’s Inability And when we attempt in our own strength to meet our own needs or try to reach God’s standard, through self-confidence in our own abilities, we will also fail.

• Benefits of Grace We should recognise that grace gives solidity, steadiness, strength, security, and safety.

• from a tiny acorn to mighty tree– and such growth results in strength and stability..
• We too must get to know ourselves and that we have no strength.

• In every trial He will give strength and blessing.

• My grace is sufficient for thee; for My strength is made perfect in [your] weakness (2 Cor. 12:9).

• for Paul reminds us in Romand 3:10 that there is none good – no not one..and yet he reminds us in Philippians 4, that we can do all things through Christ, who gives us the strength.

• He is able and willing to bear the daily burden that taxes our strength – able and willing to carry the wearying cares that weigh so heavily upon our hurting hearts.
• Jesus said: My grace is sufficient for thee for my strength is made perfect in weakness – your weakness…2Cor.4:9.

• And may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

• This is the secret of real strength.
• What unbelief does is to compare ourselves and our own strength with circumstances.

• Greater Helplessness It is not that we should be asking the Lord to help US, we should be seeking a greater capacity to helplessness. We should be relying on Him and on His strength, and Him alone.  “When I am Weak,” wrote that great soldier of the Lord’s army, the apostle Paul... “When I am Weak, then I am Strong.” 2Cor.12:10 Don’t beg the Lord for help.

• His sinless life and perfect example demonstrated that in Him we too can live godly..  not in our own strength, for in ourselves dwells no good thing.  But in His strength and power and sufficiency we CAN live godly in Christ Jesus.

• Almighty or All-Matey Whatever happened to the worship of the true and living God Almighty? What has replaced the awe and wonder of the all-powerful, omnipotent Creator? What has been exchanged for the preeminent, omniscient, Lord of heaven and earth? What is this ‘God All-Matey‘ that has crept into the vision of so many today? He is indeed our Saviour and Shepherd; our Friend and Bridegroom, but His loving-kindness has been converted into indulgence. His powerful strength has been metamorphosed into soppy weakness.
• And He had in His right hand seven stars, and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was as the sun shining in his strength.

• Cease from your own strength, beloved child of God.
• Die to your own strength, your own wisdom.
• Die to your own self-interest, your own magnetism – and in humility and grace, rest in His strength and in Him alone.

• In circumstances of great pressure and trial – much strength?

• But we are not left to flounder in our own strength in the raging waters of this world.
• We are not expected to copy what Jesus did or try to be like Him in our own strength.

• We have the Spirit of strength and might in the inner man:- I pray that He may grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power in the inner man through His Spirit.

• In that faith I must very distinctly deny my own wisdom and strength, and in childlike self-abnegation depend upon Him to work.

• This is the great secret of strength.

• Total Dependency Good works or exemplary conduct, accomplished in our own power is certain to fail. Striving to please the Lord in our own strength, is inevitably a recipe for disaster.
• Ministries, missions or witnessing work, must be done in His strength and for His glory.

• Trusting Faith We understand what God’s strength is about but His wisdom is so different from ours.

• It implies that they have some strength.
• But when a man is dead, he has no strength.

• Our Voluntary Sacrifice And this is what He asks of us - not just that we believe and are saved, but that we love Him all our heart and soul and mind and strength – and that we live our Christian life as a willing 'sacrifice of praise' .  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice – a voluntary offering – a ‘burnt’ offering a sweet savor to the Father… holy, acceptable to God.

• Divine Love This love is not the frothy romance of novels – nor the passion of a paperback. It speaks of strength and stamina, pain and long-suffering patience. It speaks of heartache and endurance. It speaks of deep disappointment, and yet an abiding forgiveness. It speaks of love that never fails, despite the grossest betrayals. It speaks of tenderness, regardless of the most ruthless duplicity. It speaks of forbearance and grace, in spite of deception and disloyalty. It speaks of the deepest affection – a love that never gives up – that never ever fluctuates, no matter what. It speaks of His precepts and promises through poetry and prophecy.

• Absolute dependence on Him, Who alone is our strength, sustenance, and supplier.
• This deep conviction of truth is an astonishment, and yet it lies at the foundation of a strong and spiritual life. Thus my impotence becomes my strength in Him, and my nothingness becomes my highest blessing..

• Love ought to bring into the countenance some suggestion of quiet strength and restful confidence....

• Ignorance insures insecurity; scriptural knowledge secures strength.

• The inner need of man is sweet fellowship with God. He is my peace. He is my guide.  He is my strength.  He is my hope.  He is my all in all. They who have never drawn close to Him, see no beauty that they should desire Him.

• Far from being a delivering power, it can only condemn such; far from being a means of holiness, it is, in fact, and according to Paul, the strength of sin' (1 Cor. 15:56). -W.K.

• Strength in Weakness This most astounding reality was expressed by the apostle Paul.
• He wrote:- Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then I am strong. 2Cor.12:10. Paul the apostle to the gentiles learned this important lesson, of our need of God, and He expresses it in the following words :- My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in your weakness.

• A Praying Man Israel was God’s nation, who was to listen to the word of the Lord and obey His voice. They were also commanded to love their faithful God with all their mind and strength.

• but Nehemiah’s prayer finally translated into deep intercession for God’s people, “They are Your servants and Your people, whom You redeemed by Your great strength and Your mighty hand.

• Our personal attraction and intellectual prowess are of no consequence. Our intrinsic strength and tutored training are of no account to God. Our innate charisma and magnetic allure is petty insignificance to Him. Our inherent talents and engaging disposition have no value. Our instinctive wisdom and intuitive capabilities are meaningless vomit. Until we finally see ourselves through His eyes, we live in an illusion. Until the Spirit strips us naked, we remain deluded – even in our perceived ‘humility’.

• Insufficient Law The Law may be perfect and man may desire to obey the perfect Law of God, but it is insufficient to save a guilty sinner – and we discover it to be a ministration of death – for it tells us God’s standard for man, but then shows us that we can only fail. The Law may be good and spiritual and the born-again life in Christ may desire to keep God’s commandments – but the old sin nature is carnal and in bondage to sin. This is why Paul failed when he tried to keep the Law in the strength of his old fallen nature, which caused him to cry out:- Oh wretched man that I am!

• They struggled in their own strength; they lost heart, they went back.

• It does not change a man; it proves him ungodly and without strength.'

• He has perfect wisdom; gives perfect counsel and has perfect strength and power.

• It is ever His Fullness over against your emptiness; His Strength over against your weakness; your inheritance is all He is, as typified to Israel by the land flowing with milk and honey.

• He said to me, My spiritual strength is sufficient, for it is only by means of conscious weakness that power is developed (2 Cor. 12:9, Wms.).
• Now this experience is the painful learning that we have no strength to make good what we would and what is right.
• But after this I find what I hate too strong for me, and I am brought to the consciousness of my being without strength - the point to which the Father was leading me all along. -J.N.D.

• God’s immeasurably excellent strength is at the disposal of all His children – and Paul prays that we know this wonder-working power – that is working for us.

• We are not only to know about God’s mighty strength – but to be empowered by it: that you are strengthened with power through His Spirit, in the inner man.
• Spiritual Strength Sometimes we misunderstand the reason that Paul prays for our spiritual strength. Often we pray for strength so that we may be successful in our work or ministry. Sometimes we pray for special strength in one particular aspect of our physical lives, but Paul prays for strength for us so that we may be rightly related to the Lord Jesus – for when we are rightly related to Him, everything falls into place.
• His strength is so that that we may be filled up to all the fullness of God – WOW!!

• Paul concluded that in everything…commending ourselves as bond-servants of God.  2.Corinthians 6:4  After an all-inclusive address in 2 Corinthians 6  Paul finally reaches the end of himself too – as “three times” he called on the Lord and thrice begged Him to remove his thorn… and three times he heard:- My grace is sufficient… My grace is sufficient… My grace is sufficient for thee… for MY strength is perfected in YOUR weakness.
• giving me the strength which I now, at last, deny comes from myself. 2 Corinthians 12:9

• Going forward in the mere strength of humanity-acquired knowledge of God’s truth-is not being led of the Spirit.

• BATACH – In Psalm 31, when David’s strength failed, and he was surrounded by enemies, he had become like a broken vessel, but David cried out: I TRUSTED (batach) in thee, O Lord, You are my God.
• KAWAH – In Isaiah 40 we read that: they who WAIT (kawah) upon the Lord shall renew their strength, which demonstrates a patience endurance as one waits for the Lord to do all that He has promised, and all that He has purposed.

• The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit say, Be powerless - for My strength is made perfect in [your] weakness (2 Cor. 12:9)
• I have strength for all things in Christ who empowers me - I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses inner strength into me (Phil. 4:13, Amp.).

• When I work, I pray for the strength equal to my day, for the joy of the Lord is my strength I lift up those that are weak and ill and intercede for those I know that are struggling.

• Be strong in the Lord - be empowered through your union with Him; draw your strength from Him (Eph. 6:10, Amp.).

• We must not seek to do things in our own strength.

• That time you spend in the Word, will build up your strength.

• Whosoever does not stand in the full faith of the Redemption, has not the strength to follow the Example.

• Their strength is to sit still (Isa. 30:7).

• In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength (Isa. 30:15).

• Hold Fast How the host of heaven who rejoices over one sinner that repentd, must long to cry out how close is the end and the goal; to implore that last spurt of strength.

• God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
• God our Strength Do not grieve Him by giving up on the conflict in the moment of its victory. Do not disappoint Him by stopping when the goal is in sight. Do not pull back when the very victory you have fought for so long is in sight. He has gone into His inner chamber for you. He holds your earnest petition in the palms of His hands. He has dispatched His angelic messenger to bring you blessing.

• for the joy of the world is false and forced – the joy of the world is a fiction and a forgery. But “the joy of the Lord is our strength”

• Strength is always the effect of having to do with God in the spirit of dependence.

• That is the secret of all strength and courage.

• The only real humbleness and strength and blessing is to forget ourselves in the presence and blessedness of the Father.
• And this too will be our strength against the sin and corruption within.

• I can do all things through Christ, Who gives me the strength,  AHH!
• Joy and Peace My joy I give to you -  for the joy of the Lord is your strength..

•  In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength (Isa. 30:15).

• That power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 1:18-20 NIV)

• Its strength does not mean effectiveness in spiritual things, whether that strength be intellectual, moral, social or physical.

• This alone will give true peace of mind, joy and comfort of heart, strength for conflict and power for service.

• A Deeper Understanding To arrive at the brokenness of Romans 7 is not the devastating defeat that it appears to be, but a vital learning curve through which many believers are gently guided by the gracious hand of their heavenly Father, Who is drawing His child into a deeper understanding of Himself, and a closer fellowship – until he comes to an understanding that in my strength I can do nothing..
• And this opens the floodgates to the beautiful revelation that when I am weak, then He is strong – for of myself I can do no good thing – But I can do all things through Christ Who gives me the strength.
• Indeed, God wants to teach us through our Romans 7 experience that behind every life experience is a divine purpose to demonstrate that: God’s grace is sufficient and that without Him we can do nothing – but I can do all things through Christ, Who gives me the strength.

• For those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles..
• Enduring Patience As believers, we have His life and His strength within, upon which to draw daily.
• Waiting Patience Like Christ, our race of life is marked out by God, and each day is scheduled by Him. Christians are to draw on His grace alone – to run with patience the race set before us:  for those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall rise up with wings as eagles.
• We can run with patience and endure patiently as we draw our strength from Christ.

• In Christ Alone For without Christ I can do no good thing. BUT I can do all acts of righteousness through Christ Who gives me the strength.

• His main focus is to rob the spiritual believer of his or her true fighting power, He is not bothered by the strength of Christian ‘talking’ or Christian ‘working’.
• Prayer Strength He’s not phased by Christian ‘advertising’, Christian ‘programs’, Christian ‘service’.
• But he shudders at the genuine; fighting; Spirit-led ‘power-of-prayer’ strength.

•  God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever (Ps. 73.26).

• We can all do many things that are unholy and unacceptable to God – through Self, but even good, commendable works, done in our own strength are unacceptable to Him.

• A little weakness implies that they have some strength.
• But when a man is dead he has no strength.

• they believe in Him as the Word of eternal life, and yet they try to serve Him in their own strength.

• Spiritual maturity and strength do not come by effort but by growth; and growth is the result of being nourished by proper food.

• The reason we so often fail in the pursuit of holiness is that the old life, the flesh, in its own strength seeks for holiness as a beautiful garment to wear and enter heaven with.

• How important for us to stand firm in Christ’s strength and not be moved.

• it’s not good, nothing can save you now',  and like Job’s wife, some would say: 'curse God and die…'  But God would have us stand still and see the salvation of God.  Stand still for a while, if it is only to renew your strength..
• so we can continue from strength to strength..and having done all we may continue to stand– stand therefore, we are told in Ephesians 6:14.

• Be strong in the Lord, relying on His mighty strength. (Ephesians 6:10 ISV)
• Men and women like cedars of Lebanon; like the hewn stones weighty, accountable, and responsible to carry weight and all that is meant by strength.
• I can only remind you again of what a large place that has in the Word of God: be strong, be strong in the Lord in the strength of His might, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
• Strength through testing, through adversity strength... to endure throughout all ages.

• As thy days, so shall thy strength be.Deuteronomy 33:25
• And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.2 Corinthians 12:9
• God’s Supply As the great hymn-writer carols in his wonderful words:- Strong in the strength which God supplies, thro’ His eternal Son, we are reminded that God Himself is the source of all supplied strength. His strength is always matched to our weakness.
• And another hymn-writer, pens in his famous stanza, that God provides:- Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow…
• God’s Grace Like each and every gift of grace, His strength is ministered to each of us according to our need. We have no need of a bank deposit of $upply, No spiritual battery from which to draw our spiritual £trength. His supply is a continuous flow, received by faith as need requires. Life is divided into days – and day after day after day, He provides and supplies the strength. Down through the weeks which flow into months and years, He continues to provide ‘Strength for the day and bright hope for the morrow!’
• The cross He gives in not greater than the strength you receive to lift it.
• The burden you carry is not heavier than the strength that He provides.
• My strength is made perfect in your weakness.  But so often we forget the final part of Paul’s wonderful message of God's sufficiency, for Paul continues: Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities. !!
• Godly Strength With such sufficiency of strength promised by God, a guaranteed sufficiency for every need... mediated to us according to our need and promised according to His eternal bond..
• It is through His strength, that I can do ALL things through CHRIST, Who strengthens me.

• If I am independent of the winter, it is evident that I have mastered it, and not it me; and if I have done so, through the strength of the Lord Jesus, I am relieved though in no human way.

• God’s Strength He strengthens us through the burdens we carry.

• the task He gave you will be completed in His strength..

• Love as I have loved.  and let it be full of joy for the joy of the Lord is my strength.

• I know the brokenness of disappointments, of disappointed hopes and expectations, but the kind of brokenness I am talking about is the brokenness of the self-hood, the strength of Self that holds its position and holds its ground and that will not let go.
• This self-strength, whether it be intellectual and mental or whether it be emotional or whether it be in the will, that strength of the natural life has got to be broken as truly as the sinew of Jacob thigh had to be touched and withered.

• The earthquake holds a precious secret – in the bowels of its strength; the tornado sweeps clean a perfect path – in the eye of its power, but only in the wake of the tsunami’s flood-waters, do pools of refreshment appear.

• Understanding Strength A strong brusque man can trample on the tender sensitivity of others..
• and being bankrupt of strength leaves the bruised reed in a desolate limbo.
• But the Lord Jesus Christ possesses both strength and tenderness.
• His actions towards the broken reed shows a strong understanding, His actions towards the smouldering wick show understanding-strength.
• Strength and consideration are blended and not separate.

• It is folly to spend time and strength otherwise.

• Do you see what a havoc the enemy can make in that which is called the church, because people with best intentions and purest motives have come to serve the Lord with all their own intelligence, their own strength, and their own emotion?

• I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13 NLT)

• In second Corinthians 2, he was speaking of a wide range of trouble, trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. 2Corinthians 2:8
• Sufficient Grace He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,He sendeth more strength when the labours increase;To added afflictions He addeth His mercies –To multiplied trials, He multiplies peace.
• When we have exhausted our store of endurance;When our strength has failed ere the day is half done –When we reach the end of our hoarded resources –Our Father’s full giving is only begun.

• Whole Hope One godly saint of old wrote these words for posterity: With all possible conviction and faith I confess my Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ, on Whom my whole hope of eternal life and present rest and strength depends – in the proper and ultimate sense, we say – He is God… eternal; all-holy; almighty; One from eternity and to eternity, with the Father and the Spirit… forever and ever Amen.

• I am your Father – I will not overwhelm your spiritual strength, I will come to you – walking on the stormy waters of life’s confusion, as you paddle on your helpless raft, 'mid oceans tempestuous turbulence. I am your Saviour – I will uphold you with My righteous right hand, lest you sink beneath the squally waves of life’s uncertainties. Look,  One comes to hold you up.  One, like as unto the Son of Man. Oh, wait child of God.

• Yes, but there is a wonderful strength that comes by wearing out prayer.
• There is vitality given to the spiritual life even in prayer that tires us physically, and we go in the strength of it.

• Trust His Word Worry can also mean: I do not believe that God can keep His promises to care for me. It’s casting doubt on the truth of God’s word – it’s unbelief in His promised provision. When worry is taken to its final conclusion – worry is effectively calling God “a liar!!”  But He is our strength and stay.

• the strength and stay of all that are in-Christ.
• Without Him, we can do nothing, but in His strength, we are equipped to do all things.

• I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. (Ephesians 3:16 NLT)
• The strength of the Lord's people is none other than the strength of the Holy Spirit in the inward man.
• In the variations of our soul life, the changes of our moods, our ideas, our attitudes, our feelings, our minds; deeper down there is that strength which does not let us go.
• Then spirituality is proved by that inward strength which abides: that standing when you cannot go forward; that holding when you can do nothing; that remaining when all the forces are seeking to sweep you off your feet.

• a witness of His grace to the principalities and powers in heavenly spheres - established by His strength in His Temple forever.

• He says, You forsake that ground, and come on to the ground of My Son, and you will find strength there.

• It is fortification, it is strength, it is protection.
• You will find that their towns, cities and villages are almost all of them upon some high place; the reason being that their enemies, who had chariots and horses, had their strength on the level, in the plain, but they could do nothing with chariots and horses against mountains.

• Eyes start to dim and memories to fade. The lithe strength of youth is replaced with memories of what it used to be. Teeth are capped and pressure of daily life replace a long-lost free spirit.

• We are the temple of God with the permanently indwelling Spirit of God as God’s deposit of grace. We were foreknown of God and chosen by Him – sealed and adopted forever, Amen. We were showered with the riches of eternal life – endowed with God’s spiritual gifts. We were baptised into Christ – made peace with God and given the peace of God. He started a good work in us and prepared good works for us to do in His strength – and then in His grace rewards us for the work He carried out in our lives – what grace. Thanks be to God for His unimaginable gift!

• Strong Powerful God He wants His creation to know Him name as Elohim: the Strong Powerful God, and then He proceeds day by day to demonstrate His power and strength.
• More that 2000 times this word Elohim (God) is used to demonstrate His strength.

• We may know what Paul meant when he said: We were pressed out of measure, beyond our strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life (2 Corinthians 1:8).

• And when we sin as a believer we lose precious fellowship with our Saviour – and when we sin we live our life in our own strength and not in Christ’s strength.

• With an increase of knowledge and apprehension of the truth, there is a constant sense that we are not practically up to what we have received; and hence the measure of our strength is not the enjoyment of a truth, but the extent to which we maintain what we believe in spite of every obstacle.

• Inner Greatness He has great strength of character and displayed an unsurpassed inner greatness.
• Indeed, it is noted by some that He had no particular strongpoints and NO weak-points, but in everything, He was faultless - perfect in strength and in stature of character.

• Submission is preparedness to consent to vulnerability,  in order to display His strength..

• We were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.
• Such a revelation, if it is to be a staggering and breaking thing, so that there is no strength left in us, requires a background of much vain effort.

• These are just glimpses of how the Cross touches us in our impulsive, independent nature, our self-will, our self-strength.

• No-one but a man like Paul could have walked this painful path through life – yet Paul himself would vehemently argue that all his strength was drawn from above.

• Striving to please God in the strength of the old sin nature will meet with an impasse.

• The answer is, You ran in the strength of your own emotions, you ran as your enthusiastic response to God's call because it affected your feelings for the time.

• His weapon is not strength but weakness.

• What has always perplexed us is that, while things of this kind have been so repeatedly and strongly stated, the implication seems never to have registered itself with sufficient strength as to result in practical adjustments.

• We would sing really with our hearts and with our voices at full strength, 'None of self, and all of Thee,' and we would mean it, and there would be no uncertainty so far as we are concerned.

• Blessed are they who wait – in silent, seeking, patient, persevering, watchful waiting. The LORD is wonderfully good to those who wait for Him and seek Him. We are told that those who wait for Me will never be put to shame, and those who wait on the LORD will find new strength.

• Spiritual Reality But consider real spiritual realities, which require an unmixed, undivided heart..  a heart that has set its face like a flint to serve in His way and in His strength – a heart, not seeking acclaim through hot air, vivid pictures, romantic conceptions.

• And there we shall find strength.

• Human Development A lifetime of trying to achieve this in one's own strength will result in failure, and we have an example written in the life of every baby that’s born.

• A greater than Solomon is our Wisdom and Strength.

• Some attempt service through their own strength, but quench the Holy Spirit.

• The opposite of the characteristics which we have been considering strength of intellect or emotion or will is meekness.

• Increased Understanding The inexpressible, unknowable, unfathomable God started to unveil Himself, and men of faith, who trusted the strength of Elohim gained further disclosure.

• We were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. (2 Corinthians 1:8 ESV)
• Paul said: We were pressed out of measure, above strength (2 Corinthians 1:8 A.V.)

• Deepest Needs Money, power and strength can never feed a soul that is made in the Divine image.

• Sufficient Grace But Paul and Job both discovered, My grace is sufficient! My grace is sufficient!  My grace is sufficient for thee… for my strength is perfected in your weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:10.

• Hidden Strength But if God permits a man to be overwhelmed with deepest sorrow and darkest blackness, it will prove in the end to an experience that develops patience, tenderness, and forbearance – and it will give that man a hidden strength and gentleness.

• There is strength in having one single objective..

• It is the trials and difficulties of the way that are the opportunities for our hearts to grow in acquaintance with Him; and it will be found, while there may be many great enjoyment in ministry, and in the unfolding of truth, that really there is not strength but in proportion as one has learned how God has been for and with one in the trials and sorrows of the way; and as one has known Him in them, so is one able to speak of Him.

• such as our POSITION in Christ and its freeing elements – such as our STRENGTH, which is only commensurate with our weakness.

• Jesus said: these things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full – (today) For the joy of the Lord is your strength – for today.

• He holds all things together by the power of His mighty arm and the strength of His hand – for without His empowerment we could not draw one single breath.

• All God’s Work How sad that so many believers strive in their own strength to live a godly life, when all that is needed is to yield to the power of God working within them. But the truth is that salvation from the penalty and power of sin is ALL God’s work.
• God’s Standard The saving of believers is all by grace and requires complete dependence on Christ. The sanctifying, maturing life can only be lived effectively when dependent upon Him.  But too often instead of yielding to the power of God, we strive in our own strength.
• Too often we seek to live up to His standard and do good works in our own strength.
• How sad that so many complicate it by making it our work and not Christ’s work; by living in our strength and not His strength; by living our way and not His.

• And as for our own soul-will, strength to do, we may feel very strong, we are never going again to be caught like that, never going down that street again!

• Through grace, we are not in the flesh, but in Christ, yet the flesh is in us; but our part is to reckon it as having been, before God and to faith, judicially put to death in Christ crucified, thus setting us free to be so constantly occupied with the triumphant Son of God, as to find all our resources, all our strength, all our springs, in Him. -H.H.S.

• The features of a personal strength of will are hardness, coldness, death, resentment of interference, suspicion of rivals, intolerance of obstructers, detachment, independence, secretiveness, heat, etc.
• While spiritual strength is always marked by love, warmth, life, fellowship, openness, confidence, and trust in the Lord.... At the end, in the Revelation, the dragon, the whole power of Satan is overthrown by the Lamb.
• If the weakness of God can do this mighty destruction, what can His strength not do?

• Christ’s Strength Do not pray for easy lives.
• Jesus said, ”My strength is made perfect in your weakness.” Do not pray for tasks equal to your power.

• “That which is produced by the preaching of the Gospel in man’s strength is unsound.
• Men may be saved through hearing the Word of God that it contains but, unless they get purer light later, their dependence for life and service will be primarily upon human strength, and not upon the power and demonstration of the Spirit.' Paul (in spite of the Corinthians' demand for it) refused to permit any human wisdom to enter into his ministry for that reason - because he wanted purely spiritual fruit: converts who have seen the power of the Spirit and expect to know it in their lives and service.

• On the other hand, when the cost is counted, and our weakness known, the energy begotten of self-confidence being gone, we need a stimulating call on God's part, to get out of the persistent occupation with our weakness now, as with our strength before. -F.W.G.

• Oh, what tremendous strength of character, what wonderful self-assurance.

• We pray for strength but receive arrows of torment that cause our foot to stumble.
• He indeed is the Personification of unselfishness and strength; of mercy and love – and we live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved us, and gave Himself for us.

• View past and future through His healing, health-giving tempering lens – and you will find strength for your soul and contentment in your heart.
• He instructs the ravens to fly to you with enough sustenance for one day's strength.

• You and I are to be here as those who in themselves convince others because we embody His rest, we embody His peace, we embody His strength, and we count for something.

• In time, He makes us aware of our utter weakness; and, in time, we trust and rest in His all-sufficient strength.
• Only as everything fails us and we fail ourselves, do we draw upon abiding strength.
• Blessed is the man whose strength is in Thee'; not partly in Thee and partly in himself.
• The Lord on the contrary makes His servant weak, puts him in circumstances that will show him his nothingness, that he may lean upon the strength that is unfailing.
• Since His power is so glorious, may you be strengthened with strength of every kind, and be prepared for cheerfully enduring all things with patience and longsuffering (Col. 1:11, Wey.).

• God, the Lord, is my strength; He makes my feet like the deer’s; He makes me tread on my high places.

• Prevented by Unbelief He may approach us, desiring to impart rich gifts of strength, comfort, and joy.

• Blessings of God How blessed are we who know the blessings of the Lord.  “Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord !” Psalm 33:12  “Blessed is the man whose trust is the Lord.” Jeremiah 17:7 “Blessed are those whose strength is in You, Psalm 84:5   “Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.” Psalm 2:12

• We are unable to fervently love one another in our own strength.

• As members of His Body, we are to hold fast to Christ, our living Head, and draw all the strength we need from Him.

• The source of all strength, support, and supply for the branch comes exclusively from the Vine.

• It is not by personal performance, might, or merit that we are 'fruitful.' It is not by our own effort or strength that we produce the good works that glorify God.

• Moses found Him to be gentle to His people, while His mighty power and everlasting strength saved them from the enemies who sought their destruction.
• We too find Him to be our protection in the midst of a crooked generation that seeks us harm us, and we too discover that the eternal God is indeed our refuge and strength, for underneath are His everlasting arms of support, strength, and protection.

• You will pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me, For You are my strength.
• When we trust in the Lord we may be sure that no matter what bitter circumstances of life rise up against us, the Lord will always be our refuge and strength, our anchor and our deliverer even when we don’t understand – for He has promised.

• In the midst of his deep distress, David took his fearful thoughts captive and remembered Who his God truly is: The LORD is my strength and my shield, he cries out, jubilantly: My heart trusts in Him and I am helped, therefore my heart exults, and with my song I shall thank Him.
• The LORD is my strength and my shield, is his exultant exclamation.
• His grace and strength is sufficient, for He is the all-powerful God.
• What is man that we should be fearful of him when we have the almighty strength of the eternal God as our shield and buckler?

• Love for his brothers and sisters in Christ was clearly seen in all of Paul's writings and in this letter to the Colossians, his heart's desire was that these beloved believers would gain great spiritual strength.

• He explained that God had placed the kingdoms of the world under his authority: The God of heaven has given you sovereignty, power, strength, and glory.

• We are not to be saved through Christ alone and then live our lives in our own strength or by participating in an increasing array of rituals, rites, festivals, feasts, seasons, ceremonies and laws.

• and Jesus answered by quoting 'the Shema': Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one, Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength, substituting the word 'mind' for the word 'strength'.
• Indeed, it should be our joy and rejoicing to love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our strength and mind, for He loved us first.

• When David pours out his heart into one of his many psalms of prayer and praise to the Lord, his words often quicken an air of rejoicing in our own lives, for we too can identify with some of the many hardships he faced, and we too can also bear witness to the wealth of joy that he proclaimed, for joy in the Lord and the joy of the Lord was the strength that David received from the Lord, as it is for so many of His children.

• However, the self-righteous works we carry out in our proud, fleshly strength (producing wood, hay, and stubble) will be consumed in His fiery judgement.

• Nevertheless, we are promised Christ's sufficient grace because we are in union with Him, and His strength is perfected in us as we depend upon Him.

• At the end of Isaiah Chapter 40, we read some well-loved verses that have encouraged generations of Jews and Gentiles, through many centuries of time: Youths may faint and grow weary, and young men stumble and fall BUT those who wait on the LORD will find new strength.
• They stumble and fall because they rely on their own, inner strength and human resources, which are not a sufficient shield in the storms of life.
• He never goes back on His Word nor does He grow weary, and in His loving-kindness, He gives grace to the humble and renews the strength of those that wait upon Him, by faith.
• His grace is enough for all who place their entire trust and confidence in His mighty strength.
• It is the strength of the Lord Jesus Who sustains those who do not rely upon their own abilities.
• He will provide strength to those who can admit to their own disability, for His grace is sufficient in all situations of life.
• Those who confidently manage their Christian walk by relying on their own personal talents, skills, capacities, and capabilities, eventually discover that their strength is insufficient for their needs.
• When we truly identify with our Saviour and trust in Christ's capacities alone for our journey through life, it is then that God's strength is made perfect in our weakness; it is then that the wind of God will lift us up on eagles' wings and carry us through life's stresses and strains, in the power of His Holy Spirit.
• It is then that the spiritual battery is regenerated and renewed by Christ's limitless power, enabling us to run the straight race, and in His strength, to run in such as way as to win the prize for the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

• Jacob needed the strength to continue his journey; he needed courage to meet with his estranged brother; he needed faith to continue on the road to Canaan; he needed wisdom to know what to do.
• And although the Man dislocated the socked of his thigh in the struggle, to demonstrate His unsurpassable strength, Jacob was determined to prevail to the end and receive all that God had promised him - for when the Man said to Jacob, Let me go, for the dawn is breaking, we read that Jacob said, I will not let you go unless you bless me.
• Fleshly Jacob, who for years had relied on his own manly strength and human initiative, had to die to his own prideful self and manipulative ways.
• Much of Jacob's own self, strength, pride, and wisdom had to be removed in his wrestling with this heavenly Being.
• Rather than relying on our own strength, wisdom, intelligence, and resourcefulness, may we submit to God, resist the devil, die to self, and live for Christ from this day forward and forevermore.

• We will find out truth, grow in grace, and increase in wisdom as we search for Him with all our heart, and soul, and mind, and strength.

• Rather, let us love the Lord our God with all our heart, and with all our soul, and with all our mind, and with all our strength, and let us seek to walk in spirit and in truth, day by day, to His praise and glory.

• Should we not ascribe to the Lord glory and strength, and give to the Lord the honour due to his name?

• He is our tower of strength, our firm fortress, and our secure stronghold to Whom we can run for protection and safety in an increasingly Christ-rejecting, God-denying, anti-Semitic, and anti-Christian world.
• Let us be still and KNOW that God is our refuge, our strength, and our ever-present help in time of need.

• It was only at Pentecost that the permanently indwelling Holy Spirit of God came to indwell His Church, and provide the sufficient strength we all need to work the work of God.
• We have an assurance that His grace is sufficient for all our needs, for His strength is perfected in our weakness.
• He is with us every moment of the day and we have His assurance that no matter what we have to face, we will be granted HIS sufficient strength and HIS supernatural grace to overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil.
• Our Saviour has promised never to leave us nor forsake us, and through HIS strength, we can keep watch with Him.

• Our faithful God is the one who fed the hungry multitude, provides comfort for the broken-hearted, gives succour to the weak, strength to the weary, hope to the afflicted, and salvation to all who trust in Christ Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins - for while we were yet sinners, God in His grace provided a Kinsman-Redeemer to save His people from their sins.

• But He will also come with His garments stained with the blood of Israel's enemies, marching in the greatness of His strength, for He is mighty to save.

• Godliness should be the objective of a believer - where a practical holiness honours the Lord our God with all our heart and soul and mind and strength - but godliness should manifest love.

• Indeed, the Lord God in His grace revealed Himself to David as the good Shepherd of Israel and promised that the coming Saviour would one day arise to shepherd His little flock in the strength of the Lord, and in the majesty of the name of Almighty God.

• Although he was incarcerated in a Roman prison when writing the epistle to the Philippians, Paul demonstrated the joy of the Lord was his strength, no matter what difficult circumstances he had to face.
• He may have been incarcerated in a prison in Rome, but Paul was able to write in his epistle: I can do all things through Christ, Who gives me His strength.
• Despite being destitute, Paul was not discouraged, because He had discovered his sufficient strength was in Christ.
• He understood that he could live a triumphant Christian life, no matter what troubles assailed him; not because of his own human strength or charismatic character, but through the indwelling Spirit of Christ Who provides the strength and wisdom we need in every situation in life.
• Paul recognised that when we are positioned in Christ, abiding in Him, and remaining in fellowship with the Father, we are equipped for every eventuality of life; for when we are weak in ourselves we receive strength from the Lord and are empowered by His Spirit.
• Human strength, a charismatic character, impressive qualifications, or noble birth, counts for nothing in God's economy.
• Every common task to which we place our shoulder and each Christian duty to which we are called, can only be successfully discharged as we rely on the Lord Jesus Christ for guidance and strength.
• We are to live, and work, and be strong in the LORD and in the power of His might, not in the strength and power of our own, fleshly, human abilities.
• It is not by my strength or by my own power or wisdom that I can do all things, but through Christ, Who gives me His strength.

• The precious promises of God are poured into our hearts by the Spirit, and Paul cements his argument with the assurance that while we were weak and ungodly, without strength and without hope – Christ, the good and gracious God, died for us ungodly sinners who were dead in trespasses and sins.
• Our weakness is in opposition to His strength, our lack lies in contradistinction to His great bounty, our disinterested ungodliness starkly contrasts with His goodness, gracious humility, and deep, deep love.

• In Proverbs 20, we read that the glory of young men is their strength, while the honour of old men is their grey hair.
• This verse is rejoicing that the silver-haired head of a godly old man, is a thing in which to rejoice – for it is a crown of splendour and a garland of glory.Similarly, this is not to insinuate that only older men who have grey hair are crowned with glory, but that an older man (irrespective of his hair or lack of it) who has trusted God in his life, is graced with certain wisdom and sound judgement that comes from above and deserves the respect and honour of the younger generation.There are many older people who mourn the loss of their good looks or bemoan a decline in their physical fitness, and although physical beauty and youthful strength are often held up as desirable, it is rather the godly wisdom of a mature man-of-God or elderly lady-of-faith that should command the respect and reverence of those that are younger.

• It describes in detail man's total inability to succeed in keeping the law in his own strength.
• Throughout chapter 7, we see the struggle that can take place in the life of a believer who is trying to live the Christian life in the flesh, by carrying out works of the law in their own strength.
• Paul describes the man or woman who fails in their attempt to live a holy life in their own strength and who has to finally admit: Oh wretched man that I am.
• Paul is describing the confused state of a Christian who is trying to serve God by keeping the law in their own strength.
• Like us, Paul was bound by his fallen, fleshly sin nature, and described it this way: On the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other hand, with my flesh I am serving the law of sin. He wanted to serve God in his heart and mind and knew what he ought to do, but he could not do it in his own strength.
• Let us never forget that we are neither justified (saved from our sins) in our own strength nor are we sanctified (living the Christian life) in our own strength.
• The struggle of Romans 7 is the experience of most Christians who have been saved by grace through faith, but who thereafter try to live their Christian life in their own strength, by works of the law.

• It is because of this sure hope of the glory of God that Paul can continue with the words: More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident HOPE.

• Initially Balaam refused, realising the immense strength and supernatural power of God was too great a challenge for his inferior strength.

• God's Word promises that He will keep us as we go through the difficulties and dangers because His grace is sufficient, and His strength is perfected in our weaknesses.

• The failure of Romans 7, which came by carrying out works of the flesh in his own strength, ended in defeat for Paul who cried out: Oh wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from this body of death? (i.e.

• As he grew, the Lord blessed Samson with great strength and the Holy Spirit started to guide him.
• Samson had been endowed with great strength from childhood. His mother had been instructed by the Angel of the Lord to raise her son as a Nazarite whose life, from birth, would be dedicated to the Lord.
• One characteristic of those who took the vow of a Nazarite was that no razor would touch the hair of their head, and Samson believed that his great strength came from his long curled locks rather than from the Lord.
• She was urged by the men of Gath to discover the secret of Samson's strength so that he could be overpowered, taken prisoner, and disposed of.
• Three times she used her feminine wiles to persuade him to tell her the secret of his strength and three times he lied.
• But finally, he gave in to her constant nagging, and told her that his strength was because of his long hair.
• It was God who gave him his strength and not his flowing locks, as Samson supposed.
• And although God had blessed this man with great strength and set him as judge over His people, the time came when the Lord withdrew His blessing.
• Indeed, there were about 3,000 men and women on the roof watching Samson while he was entertaining them and God, in His grace, answered the prayer of his servant and he was filled with godly strength and brought the great building down, killing the whole company.

• Such divine love is an impossibility in our own limited, human strength.

• Habakkuk believed the Word of the Lord and determined that no matter what terror, troubles, or trials befell him, he would maintain his trust in God - for the Sovereign Lord is our strength and has promised that His grace is sufficient.

• For decades, the people of Israel had boasted in their own strength and took pride in their own wisdom, their own intellect, and their own wealth.
• But how like many in the Church today who rely on their own strength, their own wisdom, their own intellect and their own wealth instead of trusting in the Lord our God and holding fast to His Word of truth.

• And only then, in His power and strength, we may learn to walk in the light, to grow in grace, to mature in the faith, to love as Christ loved, and to enjoy unbroken fellowship with our Father in heaven.

• However, we are promised that we can do ALL things through Christ Who gives us the strength, for He is able and His grace is sufficient. 

• Think about and contemplate this glorious truth: God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the LORD GOD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.
• God, the Lord Who covers Himself with light and rides upon the wings of the wind is my strength, my song, and my Saviour.

• A day is coming when the Nation of Israel will stand up with the Church of Christ and together with saints of old and those yet to be born, will sing a harmonious chorus, in unity, in spirit and in truth: Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the LORD GOD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.

• John's prayer is that Gaius' physical health will reflect his obvious spiritual strength and Christian maturity.This verse clearly contradicts the distorted teaching of certain 'prosperity teachers' and 'faith-healers' who insist that if sick people do not recover, it is due to a lack of faith, or that if you are materially poor, you are not a spiritual believer because God wants all Christians to be materially wealthy!

• We can either resist the temptation in the strength of the Holy Spirit as we walk in spirit and truth, in our new life in Christ OR we can yield to the temptation and allow it to take hold in our hearts and draw us away from truth and virtue.

• When the call of God is on a life, it does not matter about one's lineage, heritage, qualifications, suitability, skill, or education – God will equip each one for the task He has called them to do.May we be prepared to go in the strength of the Lord, no matter where He leads, knowing that His grace is sufficient for His power is made perfect in weak and obedient vessels that trust in Him.

• Let us love the Lord our God with all or heart, and all our soul, and all our mind, and all our strength, and look to Jesus, Who has promised to supply all we need, according to His riches in glory.

• A passion and purpose that he could not carry out in his own 'wretched' strength, but a passion and a purpose that was fulfilled by means of the indwelling power of Christ which lived in him and worked mightily through him; a power that works mightily in all who will cease from their own fleshly strivings, rest in His love, and abide in Christ's sufficient strength.
• For when I am weak then I am strong, enabling the Lord to carry out His plans and purposes in my life through His mighty strength for His grace is sufficient.

• The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
• The strength of hope is to believe in the reality of the promises of God: promises that we cannot yet see with our physical senses, but facts we discern with the eye of faith.

• In His strength, we can resist the devil.

• Both the Lord Jesus and the apostle Paul were acutely aware of the delight, the strength, the grace, and the peace, that flows from this blessed communion with our Saviour, when we rest and abide in Christ and He in us.

• There is no question as one follows this man's unfolding train of thought, that he had his priorities right and the private place of his heart contained the personal treasure that is found in Scripture, as he cries out to the Father: Your Word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You. This is the grateful cry of a sinner saved by grace, whose dear desire is to love the Lord and honour Him with all his heart, and soul, and mind, and strength.

• Be empowered, in the sufficient grace and strength that is our birth-right in Christ, is Paul's pressing directive.
• This is not a strength that is manufactured by one's own effort or developed through one's cognitive abilities or physical adeptness.
• The courage and strength that Timothy, and every child of God, is exhorted to draw upon, is the divine strength that comes from God alone – as a gift of His grace.
• It was not his own, limited, and inadequate strength that Timothy was to draw upon, but the fathomless and immeasurable strength of God alone – which is poured out in rich abundance on those that, by faith, are in union with Christ and maintaining close fellowship with the Father.
• God has promised to supply sufficient strength for the tasks we are to undertake, not because of anything that we have done to deserve it, but through the unmerited and unconditional grace that has become our portion in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
• Not only is Timothy exhorted to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, but also to provide spiritual strength for those in His care – for in the following verse we read: And the things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

• Let us be those who comfort and strengthen others by our words and our works, as we draw our strength and hope from the Lord Jesus.

• It is Christ Who gives me His strength by the power of the Holy Spirit within, because my sufficiency is in HIM alone.

• Joy should be the outer expression of our inner attitude of contentment, for the joy of the Lord is not only our strength but our eternal sufficiency.

• David, the shepherd king of Israel, was described as a mighty and virtuous man, a man of battle, intelligent in word – and Jehovah was with him.Ruth, the grandmother of David, was known as a virtuous woman in Bethlehem, and the good seed in the parable of the sower, is identified as one who, having heard the Word of God, holds fast to it in a just, noble, and virtuous manner, having a worthy heart that brings forth much fruit to the glory of God.Perhaps the best known passage that outlines the exemplary life in virtuous living, is the woman described in Proverbs 31, where a vast array of noble, godly, gracious, and wise attributes are listed.She is a woman of faith, who serves God with her whole heart, mind, soul, and strength.

• But Jesus goes even further, for as well as loving the Lord with all our heart and soul and strength, He adds that we are to love the Lord our God with all our whole mind and intellect as well.
• Love the Lord with all our heart, and with all our soul, and with all our mind, and with all our strength, is the first commandment.
• Loving the Lord with all our heart, and soul, and mind, and strength, is a progressive love that builds and develops in our Christian walk, for as we grow in grace and in a knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, so we grow in love for the Lord our God and are enabled to have that love translated into the good works that God has prepared for us to do.
• Only as we love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind and with all our strength, will our love be centred on Him, and our lives transformed into the image of the likeness of the only begotten Son of His Love.
• May we endeavour to love the Lord with all our strength; to love Him with every part of ourself, spirit, soul, and body.
• May our love for the Lord reflect the command in this challenging verse: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first and greatest commandment.

• He is our Defence and our Defender against the enemies of our soul, and all who rest in Him find courage and strength.
• He is our hope and strength and He will be exalted, for it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves, for we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

• His ways are incomprehensible, His knowledge is unsearchable, His love is never-ending, His judgements are righteous, and His strength is invincible.

• David not only understood the need for an inner cleansing and purity on a day by day basis, where God Himself governs and sanctifies the thoughts of the heart and the words of the mouth, but he had come to an understanding that the Lord Jesus - the coming Messiah - the divine days-man of Job - and the coming Seed of the woman, was the strength of his life and the only Kinsman-Redeemer for his soul. 

• Not only do the glories of our justification result in peace with God, a firm standing in God's grace, and a rejoicing hope in Him, but we can allow His peace to reign in our hearts so that we can even exult in our tribulations, knowing the trials of life and the difficulties we endure bring about perseverance which develops strength of character and a solid hope in the Lord.

• We are called to fellowship in His suffering here on earth, which often causes us confusion, perplexity, anguish, and sorrow, but never forget that the joy of the resurrected Lord is our strength, and often the darkest winters we are called upon to endure, turn into the brightest summer imaginable.

• Most of those who put their faith in Jesus and trusted Him for salvation, were simple folk with few earthy possessions - and yet the testimony they leave behind is a wealth of faith in Christ because they loved Him and discovered His grace to be sufficient and His strength to be made perfect, as He lived in them and they abode in Him.

• Jesus was the perfect example of a Man of prayer, by which He maintained unbroken fellowship with His Heavenly Father, from Whom He received strength, comfort, and direction.
• The apostle, Paul, was one whose prayer-life demonstrated a man who found His sufficient strength in the Lord.

• David's proclamation should be the hymn that fills the lips of all the saints of God for the Lord Jesus is the light of the world and in Him is life eternal, as well as safety and strength, purity and peace.
• He is not only our light and salvation, but He is our light and life, our strength and peace, our salvation and our God.
• There is nothing in heaven or earth, visible or invisible, that should disturb our hearts or cause us to be afraid, for He is the omnipotent Creator and all the strength of our lives and the illumination for our path derives directly from Him, and if we follow David's example and walk in the light and trust His Word, we shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life.

• We are commanded to be holy and consecrated unto the Lord in body, soul, and spirit, but we can't do this in our own strength.

• The fruit of man's sinful nature bears nothing but rotting sadness and sour pain, and the ethical character and political correctness of a believer who is straining to live-up to certain socially acceptable moral standards, in their own strength, will similarly produce nothing but the bad fruit of the old sinful, Adamic nature.
• Spiritual JOY is from the Lord, and gives strength and rejoicing, even in the midst of problematic and painful circumstances, while spiritual PEACE is inner tranquillity and godly composure, that is free from anxiety through faith in God's Word.
• While some people are adept at perfecting certain of these spiritual characteristics in their own strength, the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, can only be genuinely manifested in a spirit-filled man or woman.

• How important it is to be orderly and steadfast in our faith, such that nothing can shake our trust in the Lord Who provides us with the sufficient grace and strength to face all eventualities.

• One of the biggest dangers in our spiritual walk is to render service to Him without receiving from Him the sufficient strength to carry out the task.

• This is a godly principle of faith – that when we abide in Christ during the inevitable disasters that flood our lives, faith increases, trust is amplified, hope is expanded, and our love of Jesus reaches even greater heights, as we grow in grace and in a knowledge of Him.Oh, such life victory has nothing to do with our own great strength, intellectual ability, or healthy bank balance, for of ourselves we would be overwhelmed by all these things rather than becoming a conqueror through Christ.

• Christians who try to live in their own strength or rely on their own good works do not please the Lord because they are not trusting His Word; for faith is the evidence of things NOT seen.
• Although our union with God can never be broken once we are born into His family, our fellowship with him can be broken when we leave the life of trusting God and dependence on His Word and start to rely on our own strength.
• When we rest in His sufficient strength, we always discover it is all we need, but how often we forgo the perfect peace He promises simply because we trusted in self before our Saviour, or lived in accordance with what we see rather that what God says.

• Until Jacob wrestled with God 'face to face', he was serving the Lord in his own strength and on his own terms.
• Jacob had to learn that whatever fleshly strength we try to muster and however powerful we prove to be, the Lord is stronger and more powerful.
• He had to be brought to the precipice of despair in order to discover that God's Word is true and that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
• Jacob had to be brought to the point where he was prepared to die to himself; his will, his strength, his cunning, his wit, and his wisdom.
• Jacob knew that he could not win the fight in his own strength and needed to admit that God is the source of his blessing and that his strength came from the Lord, and so we read that Jacob clung fast to Angel of the Lord until He received His blessing.

• Moses knew all about the God of his forefathers and His promise to release His people from their 400 year bondage in Egypt, but in his fleshly enthusiasm, he tried to do God's work in his own strength.

• But this is the amazing thing; we are not to do this by our self and through our own strength, but God Himself is going to carry out all the work that is needed to bring us into spiritual maturity.

• Psalm 118 is a very important Messianic psalm that points directly to God Whose goodness and grace lasts forever, and it identifies Jesus as Israel's Messiah Who has become their strength and stay.

• But it also reminds us that the joy of the Lord often comes through much suffering and pain, but we who are united to Christ by faith in Him, have the assurance that His grace is sufficient, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

• But we cannot do this in our own strength, for our nature is fallen and incapable of carrying out Christ-like righteousness in our own strength.

• His children may let the Lord down or grumble at the circumstances of their lives or try to achieve God's plan and purpose for their lives in their own strength, but all God's promises are true and He is faithful to carry out all His pledges to every one of His children, and no-one will be able to stand against us as long as we live.

• As we trace the history of Israel through the pages of Scripture and witness His gracious guidance, the strength of His arm, His protective power, and mighty works, we must always remember that this is the same God Who reassures us that His grace is sufficient in every life-situation that we may meet, no matter how difficult and problematic it may appear - for His Word stands fast for all His people: For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you He will not fail you or forsake you.
• Just as He did with His people, Israel, the Lord has challenged us to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His mighty strength.

• Just as we can never fulfil Christ's new commandment to love others as He loved us without His sufficient grace flowing through us in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, so we are incapable of walking before God in a worthy manner without the enabling of His Spirit, through His sufficient strength.
• It is only when we are willing to admit that without Christ's sufficient strength we can do nothing, that He empowers us through the indwelling Spirit of Christ.
• It is only as we confess we can do nothing in our own strength that we receive the sufficient grace to walk worthily before Him.

• This cannot be carried out in our own strength, but it can be carried out in His sufficient strength as we abide in Him and He in us so that the life we live becomes a reflection of Him.

• But as we learn to stand fast in the faith and receive strength in the power of His might, the problems of life will not overwhelm us, and we will discover that our faith in the Lord remains firm and is strengthened.

• We are to trust in His strength, walk in the light of His love, and honour Him in our actions and choices.

• During His ministry on earth, the Lord Jesus instructed His followers to love the Lord their God with all their heart, and soul, and mind, and strength: This is the first and great commandment, He reminded them, and the second is 'you shall love your neighbour as yourself.' And the entire truth of God's Word hangs upon the Law and the Prophets. 

• For the Lord is our Provider and Peace; our Strength and Stay; our Righteousness and our Reward; our Sanctuary and our Shepherd.
• He renews my strength and guides me along right paths, which brings honour to his name.

• There is a false righteousness that we think we can try to achieve in our own strength and through our own abilities and strength until we discover that there are none that are righteous, and the things that we consider to be virtuous and good, are like filthy rags in the eyes of God Who alone is righteousness.

• We are charged in many places to seek after wisdom and to ask the Lord for wisdom; to rejoice in wisdom and to get wisdom, for wisdom brings with it strength and shelter, help and hope.

• Let us choose to imitate the Lord Jesus in how He lived so that we too may worship the Father in spirit and in truth to His praise and glory, as we submit to the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit and trust in Christ Jesus, our Strength and our Redeemer.

• But to bless the Lord in this way calls for obedience and a total commitment to live as unto the Lord with our inner heart, soul, mind, and strength.

• Give light to my eyes and strength to my body for I feel I am going to die.
• One of the vital lessons of life we all must learn is that when God is given His rightful place in our lives, we too will be given the sufficient strength to live godly in Christ Jesus and will be enabled to rejoice in the Lord always and to sing praises to His holy name, even in our distresses and pain.

• But all humanity is tainted by Adam's sin and incapable of living in spirit and truth in our own strength.

• And as members of the family of God, we are to stand firm in the power of HIS might, and not take courage in our own strength.
• This battle requires heavenly power from above, strength that is outside our human capacities, and power that only comes from the Lord.
• In our own strength, we are no match for the evil plots and cruel strategies of the enemy, that old serpent which is called the devil and Satan, but we can be strong in the Lord and in the power of HIS might.
• It is only when we are conscious of our weakness, inabilities, and ineffectiveness, that we look to the Lord for the strength we need - for God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise, and the weak things of the world to confound the mighty.

• Firstly, we are not to fear for the Lord has promised to strengthen all that are His, and Jesus amplifies this truth to the apostle Paul when He tells him: My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
• Secondly, the Lord continues that, as well as having His strength for all we need, He will be an ever-present help in trouble: God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

• The Psalmist is David, the shepherd king of Israel, who rejoices that his hope and strength in the Lord.
• He expresses delight that God has given him victory over his foes: The king rejoices in Your strength, O LORD.

• He rests in the light of God's love, trusts in His Word, walks in spirit and truth, and faithfully carries out the works that God has before prepared for them to do – in His strength.
• Works, whether good or bad, that are not accomplished through the strength of the indwelling, Holy Spirit can never be perfect; indeed, they are identified as filthy rags to the Lord.

• Paul found his joy in Jesus and 'the joy of the Lord' is our strength too, and whether we live or die, our 'joy in the faith' is one of the many benefits we increasingly access as we abide in His love and He in us.

• A mind that loves others as Christ loved us.In His strength and sufficient grace, we are instructed to develop a mind that is patient and kind.

• May we choose to walk in the Spirit today, and in His strength and for His glory, let us act justly, love faithfulness, and walk humbly before God.

• The foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

• Although the fruit of righteousness is manifest in many different ways, it can never be produced in our own strength or by our own self-efforts or fleshly works.

• He had promised to fight their battles, conquer cities, establish them in their land, and give them peace, if they would simply trust His Word, obey His direction, and not rely on their own understanding or do things in their own strength.
• It is in His strength that we are enabled to battle the satanic giants that bar our way.

• The joy of the Lord was John's hope and strength, and he was writing his epistle for a particular purpose: These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.

• The immeasurable strength from the power-house of God's perfect love overwhelms every negative influence of fear.

• As we continue on the journey of life in the strength of Christ, may we resist the devil and stand firm in the faith, knowing that our brethren in other parts of the world are passing through the same sort of difficult experiences - and that both they and us have been promised God's sufficient grace in every situation.

• When he began to reflect on the wider picture and catch hold of God's eternal perspective Asaph was able to proclaim, My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

• The impossibly high standards of the Sermon on the Mount and the call to prayer, are designed to teach us that the principles and practice in Christ's teaching can never be achieved in our own strength and power. They can only be realised supernaturally, as we allow the Holy Spirit of God to work His work in our lives. 
• The more earnestly we ask, seek, and knock on heaven's door, the more we will be given the supernatural strength to fulfil His Word and remain in the centre of His will.

• Paul had discovered the joy of the Lord was his strength and that His grace is sufficient in all things.

• But we have also been supplied with many precious promises which reassure us that His grace is sufficient, His strength is perfected in our weakness, that suffering for Christ's sake is a privilege for the child of God, and that no amount of trials, tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, or the sword, is able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.May we grasp this truth in His strength, and remember that in this world we will have tribulation… but that if we fellowship in the suffering of Christ, we will also be glorified with Him Who loved us so much that He died for us, that we might live for Him – forever.

• It is the man or woman who loves the Lord their God with all their heart, and soul, and mind, and strength that satisfies the heart of the Lord.

• But let us be careful not to fall into ungodly ways, become arrogant in our attitudes, fearful of the world's evil, or reliant on our own resources; our wealth, status, intellect, or strength.

• So too, the impossible task of living a godly life in our own strength, is only possible when a man or woman looks to Him and relies on Him alone.

• My horn is exulted in God, was Hannah’s exultant prayer of praise and thanksgiving, My mouth speaks boldly against my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation… The bows of the mighty are shattered, but the feeble gird on strength… The LORD will judge the ends of the earth.
• He will give strength to His King and will exalt the horn of His Anointed.

• We do this by committing our way to the Lord and not trying to live the Christian life in our own strength.

• God is holy, and He is perfect, and as His children we are called to be both holy and perfect, not in our own strength, but by the power and wisdom of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

• All Scripture has been written for our learning, but the New Testament epistles give specific guidance and instruction on living the Christian life in this Church dispensation.God has given us all we need for life and godliness, and we have been given the holy Scriptures which provide clear teaching on how to walk in spirit and truth and why we should abide in Christ and He in us.We have the indwelling Holy Spirit to lead us in the way we should go, Who has promised to lead and guide in all things... and we have Christ's assurance that His grace is sufficient for every eventuality we may face – for when we are weak in our own abilities, we have His precious promise that His strength will enable us to stand fast in the evil day.The instructions earlier in the epistle of James, cover a wide range of topics that enable the believer to live a life that is honouring to the Lord.

• And so in this section of Scripture, we discover Paul asking for prayer, while resting on the fact that God is the strength of our heart and our portion forever.

• The Lord will once again display His awesome strength to Israel, and also to the people who refuse to acknowledge Him as God.

• But he also knows the dangers of spiritual pride, which promotes 'self' and encourages unloving Christian service that relies on our own human strength and our own carnal capacities.
• And so Paul prays that the Body of Christ will be strengthened with all might according to God's glorious power, reminding us that the strength we received is not of ourselves but from God.
• The joy of the Lord should be our strength, for His power is made perfect in our weakness.
• Indeed, it is only through the might of His power that the beautiful fruit of the Spirit can be produced in the life of a believer, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
• May we be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might so that like Christ, we too may learn obedience by the things that we suffer and patiently endure in this evil day with joy, knowing that His grace is sufficient, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

• Let us run to Jesus, our Strong Tower, knowing that in Him alone will be found our refuge and strength, our peace and our safety.

• This can never be carried out in our own strength, and a fleshly believer will expose his sinful carnality through a lack of love and concern for their fellow believers.

• For instance, in Psalm 21 he wrote: Be exalted, O Lord, in Your strength.

• Whether his enemy is a group or an individual person, the intense pressure the psalmist is under, caused him to reaffirm his faith and testify that the Lord is His strength and stay, while momentarily mourning because of his oppression and asking why God had abandoned and rejected him.

• This aging Psalmist stands as a stalwart witness to the singular righteousness of the Lord God, for He is the great supplier of this elderly writer’s strength, just as He provides for all our needs according to His riches in glory.
• He boldly proclaims that nothing can shake his deep trust in his Lord his God and it rejoices his heart to make mention of the Lord's perfect righteousness and His never-failing faithfulness.This man proclaims that God had been his daily support in times past, and he bears witness that into the twilight years of his journey through life, the Lord alone remains his ongoing strength and everlasting song.
• The duties of the day and responsibilities of life will continue to bear down upon this man, but God's servant has learned that those who wait on the Lord will have their strength renewed and their souls refreshed... for the Lord’s righteousness is immeasurable and His salvation lasts throughout all generations.No matter what fears and foes are crouched at his door and irrespective of the arrows that fly by day or the pestilence that lurks in the dusk, the psalmist has placed his lifelong confidence in the righteous Lamb of God to deliver him.
• While we rejoice in our great salvation, may we go forward in the strength of the Lord our God, and make mention of His goodness, His grace, and His eternal righteousness.

• Like this frightened little remnant that was left in Israel following the Babylonian invasion, we are also called to trust in the Lord with ALL our heart, and soul, and mind, and strength, and not lean on our own, limited understanding or flawed wisdom.

• You are my strength.
• And David was able to call Him my Deliverer for the Lord is the source of our strength and the well-spring of our stability.
• The Lord is a Refuge from the storms of life and a Defence from the enemy that prowls around as a roaring lion, seeking to sift the lone pilgrim as wheat and to fling him into the miry depths of deep despair.As the Rock on which we stand and the Fortress in which we shelter, the Lord becomes our Deliverer from our enemies and our Strength in times of trouble.

• Both purity of heart and graciousness of speech are character traits we should all seek to develop, but neither are possible in our own strength.

• The Lord is robed in light and He has girded Himself with strength and power.
• Let us seek the Lord with all our heart and mind and soul and strength.

• They became believers by simply trusting in Christ for their justification, but once they were saved, they were soon urged by the Judaisers to continue their Christian life in their own strength.
• Let us be earnest in our search for truth, and in His strength seek to remain steadfast in our faith and true to the gospel of God.

• It was as they were expending all their physical strength to keep their craft afloat that they saw a figure of a man emerging from dark shadowy blackness and walking to them on the sea!

• It is only by God's grace we have received mercy for help in time of need, so we should not lose heart, knowing that those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength and mount up with wings like eagles: They will run and not grow weary.

• The joy of the Lord is our strength, and we are called to: Rejoice evermore, to pray without ceasing, and in everything give thanks, for this is God's will for all His children.
• The joy of the Lord is indeed our strength, and we are called to rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all things, and live in godly unity with one another.

• David learned many things about the Lord in his life-time, and one important lesson was that no matter how dark the night of doubt and sorrow, how mountainous the problems he had to face, or how fierce the enemy that stalks our path, God is our help and strength, and He is our shield and buckler.

• His strength brings protection, help, mercy, and joy – and the Lord will strengthen the weary and give grace to those who are humble of heart.
• The Lord knows His people, but His people must know their Lord and trust in the power of His might, by faith – so they can say in full assurance, The Lord is my strength I will not trust in my own abilities; the Lord is my strength and I will trust in Him.The Lord not only gives us His strength in time of need, but He also blesses His people with peace.
• All that we have to do is to appropriate them so that no matter how fiercely the storms of life batter our tiny boat, we have confidence in the One Who rules the tempest with His Word and causes the stormy seas to be still.No matter what life throws your way, you can have confidence in the truth of God’s Word and joyously proclaim, The Lord is my strength and He is my peace.

• This knowledge of God is not for the unregenerate, for the wisdom of God is foolishness to them. Indeed, God's foolishness is wiser than man's wisdom, and His weakness is stronger than man's combined strength.
• But such understanding is sweetness and strength to the sanctified soul, for true knowledge of the Holy-One is spiritually discerned.

• A horn in Scripture denotes strength and authority, might and power, and God has raised up a Horn of salvation for us, a strong and mighty Saviour from the house and lineage of Israel's king David Who was to have the authority and power of the Almighty God.

• He will lay aside all other considerations and press on to finish the task the Lord has given him to do – knowing that Christ is his sufficiency and Christ is his strength.If you have met the Lord on your Damascus Road, why not resolutely set your eyes on the final goal and make it your single intent to love the Lord with all your being and seek with all your heart to be in His perfect will – in Christ.

• Throughout his epistles, Paul explains that we are not to rely on our own strength but to live and move and have our being in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit of God.
• We are to live our lives in the power and strength of the Holy Spirit, walking in spirit and truth, trusting in the Word of God, and depending on our heavenly Father in all things.
• We have to have the absolute assurance that His grace is sufficient for every eventuality of life, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

• His strength is matchless and His loving-kindness is unsurpassed.

• Like Paul we need to come to a deep understanding that willing submission to suffer for Christ's sake is the singular path to real strength, true joy, and a peace that passes human comprehension: For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation and comfort also abounds through Christ.

• He gives strength to the bruised reed and nurtures the smoking flax back to life.

• Consequently, they did not enjoy the blessings and benefits of a victorious life which trusts the Lord, obeys His commands, and depends on His sufficient strength for the journey through life.

• They turned their hearts away from the Lord preferring to trust in their own wisdom and strength, while they chased after the false gods of the surrounding nations and trusted in the hollow alliances of pagan kings - rather than depending on the Lord their God.
• Cursed is the man who relies on his own strength, rather that the power of the Lord, he continued.
• Do we trust in the works of man or place our faith in the strength of fleshly achievements?

• For we know that by His grace He has set us all apart for His good purpose so that in His strength, we may complete the good work that He foreordained that we should walk in.

• Our times are in God's hands individually and collectively and it is God Who sets in place the rulers of the nations, but how often we set ourselves up for failure as we try to ford our own little stream and paddle our own little canoe in our own strength.

• He does not rely on his own strength and innate abilities, but places his trust in the Lord and is confident that God's Word would come to pass.

• And should we not be careful to rest in Him, draw our strength from Him alone, and to drink from His overflowing fountain of life?

• By the strength of His all-powerful omnipotence, He sustains all the creation that He spoke into being by the authority of His powerful Word, the Word Who was made flesh.

• During the cool of the evening and in the nighttime hours, He would regain His strength through prayer, praise, fellowship with the Father, and restful sleep.

• We must be constantly aware that we are not capable of harnessing our fleshly lust and worldly propensities in our own strength, for this can only be done through the power of Christ's indwelling life.

• At His Second Coming, He will come as the worthy Lamb of God Who is seated upon the throne of God's glory, the Lamb Who was slain to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and blessing.

• And although our sinful nature is incapable of keeping God's perfect Law or of producing meritorious acts in our own strength, we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to carry out good works which God ordained that we should do through the power of the Holy Spirit.

• Every believer is called upon to commit his works and activities unto the Lord, but all too often we discover ourselves trying to carry out the works that He has prepared for us to do in our own strength, and not in the power of the Holy Spirit.
• God will never carry out His plans and purposes in the strength of the old 'me'.

• It is God, Himself, that has promised to fill us to the brim with a great abundance of spiritual blessings – for the joy of the Lord is our strength, the peace of God is our shield and buckler, and the fellowship of the saints is our precious portion, as our hope overflows in and through Him.All His promises, whether past, present, or future, are secured in His unchanging character and unchangeable Word, for He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

• Rather, we are to keep on building up our strength by praying in the Holy Spirit, walking in truth, remaining in the love of God, dying to self, and living for Him.

• How important it is that we do not seek to do good works in our own strength.
• All the good works that we produce in our own strength will be burned up as wood, hay, and stubble at the Bema Seat of Christ.

• They went against God's will for His people by living in a pagan land, and even allowed their sons to marry Canaanite women, but how like some of God's people today, who flirt with the world and allow themselves to live in carnality and sin, and instead of trusting in His sufficient strength, they live a defeated, Christian life.

• We are all so filled with sin that unless God draws us, not one of us has the will or the strength to seek after the Lord.

• 'Do no wrong to one's neighbour' may sound a very simple principle to perform, but on deeper reflection we realise it is an enormous undertaking that would prove to be impossible without God's sufficient strength.

• May we faithfully fulfil the ministry to which we have been called, and do it to His strength and for His greater glory. 

• To achieve this in our own strength is impossible.

• And we have the indwelling Holy Spirit of God Who guides us into all truth, convicts and corrects us, chastises and trains us so that we may mature in the faith and live a fruitful life that honours the Lord, as empowered by His sufficient strength.

• We are not to rely on our own human abilities, actions, intuition, and strength, but only do those things that we hear from Him.

• However, in God's economy, when we are weak in our own strength we are strong in the Lord.

• But when our toil is divorced from His providence or when we undertake to work in our own strength, we discover the futility of our actions.

• But in considering the insignificant life-span of a little wild lily whose covering dress simply declares God to be its sole Creator and Provider, we are charged to cast our concerns and worries upon Him, rather than to engage in anxious pursuit of worldly wants and waste our strength in fretting about our daily needs.

• When we are struggling in our walk with Christ, it is important to remember that Jesus is the source of our strength.
• He is our Rock and our Refuge; He is our Strength and Shield; He is our Defence and our Defender; He is our Good Shepherd; He is King of kings and Lord of lords.
• Let us not be afraid, but rather let us put our trust in Him and rely on Him for our strength and guidance.

• It is not attained by self-effort and self-reliance, but by letting the life of Christ grow and develop within as we submit to the Holy Spirit and look to Jesus for our sufficiency and strength.
• All we need to do is to take hold of what is already ours in Christ and live our lives in His strength.

• Genesis is the book of beginnings, and in chapter 1 we walk through the 6 days of creation. All things in heaven and earth, both visible and invisible, were created by God Who spoke the world into being by the strength of His might and the Word of His eternal power. The entire universe was created from nothing in just six days, together with God-ordained laws and natural principles.

• Works that are carried out in the strength of God rather than through our own efforts, are GOOD works which will be rewarded.
• They are good works that are fulfilled through God's sufficient strength and they are described in Scripture as a 'living faith'.
• The spiritual Christian who works the work of God in His power and strength, has a 'living faith'.
• The carnal Christian who tries to do good deeds in his own strength or does them for his own glory, has a dead faith.

• His is the great strength, for the perfect Lamb slain on Calvary's Cross, has overcome the greatest enemies of humanity - and the last enemy to be destroyed is death.
• Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

• When we do, we can be sure that God will be with us, fighting for us and giving us the strength we need to stand firm in our faith. 
• He is our source of strength and courage.

• May we keep on seeking after this from this day forward. May we seek Him with all our heart and soul and mind and strength and recognise the incredible privileges that we have in Christ - the God of our salvation.

• And yet, it had seven horns that spoke of omnipotent strength and heroic spirit.

• May we seek to fulfil this worthy directive in the sustaining and almighty power of the Holy Spirit of God, for without Him we can do nothing, but in His sufficient strength we can demonstrate godly love to others in the same way that Christ loved US.

• He continued to teach His slow-learning followers that only by God's grace is salvation received, and reminded them that entrance into His Kingdom is impossible by man's merit, man's strength, man's abilities, man's wisdom, man's righteousness, yet He taught them that with God all things are possible, including entrance to God's kingdom through salvation through Jesus.

• We are to love as Christ loved and to live as Christ lived; in total dependence upon the Father and not trying to do things in our own strength. 

• To Moses and the children of Israel, He proclaimed: I Am Who I Am, and by His mighty strength and gracious kindness He brought them out from their lengthy slavery in the land of Egypt, at the start of their long trek through the wilderness.
• And this great show of His omnipotent strength, divine power, and gracious love, was used by God for centuries as a reminder to Israel that He is the Lord their God and their trustworthy Deliverer.

• The greatness and almighty strength of Israel's God was exhibited before all their enemies, but they also had to be reminded of His awesome deeds on their account, for they had wandered away from the Lord.

• He has given us His Word which cannot be broken and has promised that His sufficient strength will meet every crisis, if we simply trust Him in the storm.

• Let us look to Him as our provider with faith. He will never let us down, and He will give us the strength and courage and the resources we need to face each day, for His grace is sufficient.

• He has broken the suffocating power they exerted over us and by grace through faith, has equipped us with His own sufficient strength to triumph over them in this life.
• May we run the race that is set before us in spirit and truth, looking to Jesus and abiding in Him, for He is our strength and our salvation.

• He was seen in the plagues of Egypt that demonstrated God's mighty strength and awesome power, and He was with them in the midst of the Red Sea waters, which led them to safety but destroyed their Egyptian enemies.

• It is not a little shower of spiritual strength or a tiny flutter of blessing for which Paul is seeking the Lord on our behalf, but a super-abundant outpouring of multiplied blessings which cascades from God's own divine riches and His infinite kindness into our inner soul and hungry heart.

• We are to knock with confidence and humility even when life's circumstances seem to test our faith and sap our strength.

• The Lamb on the throne had seven horns and seven eyes, representing the sevenfold manifestations of the Holy Spirit of God, and symbolising strength and wisdom, power and knowledge, authority and intelligence, omnipotence and omniscience.
• Jesus is the eternal God and perfect Man, and He is the only Member of the Godhead and only Member of the Human race Who has the strength and wisdom, power and knowledge, authority and intelligence, and the sinless perfection to open the redemption Scroll.

• May we be those that do not seek to sort out the troubling circumstances of life in our own strength, whether they are political, personal, social, or religious.

• We are to exercise our spiritual gifts by grace through faith and are not to rely on our own strength, but to depend upon our Heavenly Father in all things, for without faith it is impossible to please Him.

• And although it is also unattainable in our own strength, God, in His grace, has caused it to become attainable to all who are 'in Christ' – for Jesus chose to die in our place and become a curse for us so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 

• What a powerful reminder of the glory and majesty of our Heavenly Father, Who is always there for us, and to Whom we can always turn for strength and comfort: To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.

• The shed blood of Christ as the redemptive price for the forgiveness of sin and His glorious Resurrection from the dead with its promise of eternal life and our blessed hope in Christ's soon return, is our glorious hope and our sufficient strength, for it is the power of GOD and the wisdom of GOD.

• Paul was not to preach Christ in his own human strength, for to do so would have rendered his witness to the gospel of none effect.
• Like Paul, we are not to share the good news of the gospel in the strength of our fleshly self, or by implementing a man-made programme or some promotion strategies.

• His mercy and grace is unending and He gives strength to the weak.

• We are to look earnestly and continuously at the perfect Law of the Spirit of life, which is ours by faith in Christ, and we are to keep on concentrating on Him and focussing on His Word, which sustains us with spiritual strength, guards and protects us from the ravages of the enemy, and guides us into all truth as we grow in grace and mature in the faith.

• Oh, his quick reply came directly from perfect Law of Moses and with keen enthusiasm this clever lawyer was proudly able to respond with the correct answer: You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and you must love your neighbour as yourself.
• Indeed, this bright young lawyer even expanded on the written Law of Moses by including that our love for God must also include 'all of your mind' as well as our heart, soul, and strength.
• Love the Lord your God with ALL of your heart, ALL of your soul, ALL of your strength and ALL your mind, and love your neighbour as you love yourself, and if you DO THIS you will live.
• For who in this world can honestly say that from birth to death that they love the Lord their God with ALL their heart, ALL their soul, ALL their strength, and ALL their mind?

• But we are to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

• She believed Canaan had been given into their hands and chose not to trust in the protection of Jericho's fortified city walls, or the strength of the king's fighting men: The LORD your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath, she confessed to the Israelite men, demonstrating a saving faith in God.

• We are to cast all our cares on the Lord, for He cares deeply for each one of us and has promised to sustain us... for His grace is sufficient, His unfathomable wisdom is made perfect through our own helplessness, and His almighty strength is made perfect in our weakness.

• Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the LORD GOD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.
• He is our strength and our song, and in Him alone is salvation.

• And this question will always receive the same answer: You shall love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, and with ALL your soul, and with ALL your strength, and with ALL your mind; and your neighbour as yourself.
• And this is an impossible task in our own strength.

• As David further explores the power and strength of His holy Helper, he realises that he was wonderfully and fearfully made, and concludes that the awesome greatness and marvellous understanding of the eternal God is far too wonderful for him to comprehend.

• How we should treasure the Word of God, for it is our guide and teacher, our strength, and our defence.

• The privileges and promises of God are already ours, in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in heavenly places so that IN HIM, we too have been raised up with Christ and seated with Him in the heavenly places.
• The Lord is my Helper, I shall not be afraid.  The Lord is the strength of my life.

• Paul was a man who recognised his utter dependence upon the Lord and the futility of attempting to work the works of God in his own strength, knowledge, education, acumen, and abilities.

• Although it is more than likely that his physical appearance will mirror this description and he will have a wounded right eye and a crippled arm, the Bible often uses the word 'arm' to identify strength - or the lack of strength and Scripture often uses the word 'eye' to designate intelligence - or the lack of it.
• However, God is faithful to His people and we read that the strength of this idol shepherd will be terminated.

• And then, in His power and strength, we too may lay down our lives in service to Him as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, in Jesus' name.

• The new Egyptian king became so concerned about the increasing numbers and strength of the Israelites, that he eventually ordered all their baby boys to be thrown into the River Nile.

• The faith of the disciples should have been rooted and grounded on the Person of Christ, but instead, they were relying on themselves and their own abilities instead of Christ's strength.
• The value and outworking of our Christian faith is found in Christ alone and not in the strength, intensity, or size of our faith.
• Once we understand that without Christ we can do nothing, but through Christ we can do all things, because He gives us His strength.

• It is linked with abiding in Christ and resting in His sufficient strength, rather than trusting in our own insufficient abilities.

• What a lesson for us to learn that when we try to work the works of God in our own strength or without the leading and guidance of the indwelling Spirit, we may find that there is barrenness in our soul and we may forgo the comfort and joy that comes from doing His will.

• The root of the old sin nature sucks its strength from worldly desires and fleshly ego.
• How dearly does my new life need to grow in grace, but how impossible in my own strength to combat the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life!

• With the passage of time, Peter came to recognise that Jesus is the omnipotent God Who is One with the Father, Who supplies strength for the daily needs of His blood-bought children.
• Peter also came to understand that growing in grace and maturing in the faith is only achieved as we decrease in our own importance so that the might, majesty, dominion, and strength of Christ may be seen in us and exalted on high.

• But praise God that even when we fail: GOD IS still our refuge and our strength, because of our position IN Christ.

• The time for Christ's departure had come... and although the separation from their Master was a painful prospect for the confused disciples, nevertheless they were to discover an inner strength and receive extraordinary comfort that was not available to them during Christ's lifetime on earth.

• We can seek to battle through in our own strength, wondering if God really cares as the pressure increases until we finally give-up, or we can remember that God is in control, we can rejoice in the Lord and consider it pure joy, recognising it as one of the various trials which God will use to fine-tune our faith, increase our dependence upon Him, develop our Christian character, and bring us closer to spiritual maturity.

• The strength of sin is discovered in the perfect law of God, for it establishes an unattainable standard that no man can reach.
• The sting of death is indeed sin and the strength of sin is God's perfect law, but thanks be to God that Christ fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law on Your behalf and mine.

• Despite his great wisdom, power, fame, and fortune, his search for the meaning in life proved ultimately profitless because he set out to explore life and its significance in his own human strength.

• He wanted the Philippian believers to understand that there is nothing in life that we can do without Christ and nothing that we receive that does not come from His hand, for He is our strength, He is our support, and He is our supply.

• They were encouraged to glory in the ministry of the Holy Spirit and to draw power and strength from God, knowing that like Paul, all God's children have this same, heavenly treasure indwelling and empowering our earthly, mortal bodies!

• We are to be of good cheer, knowing that His strength is sufficient to see us through every difficulty of life because He has already overcome sin and death – and we are united with Him and His victory.

• However, in this psalm we hear of David rejoicing in the Lord and extolling His goodness and grace as he sings a song of grateful thanks and praise for restoring him to health and strength: O LORD my God, he sings joyfully, I cried to You for help, and You healed me!
• Undiluted thanks and grateful praise is always due to our Heavenly Father, when we have been restored to health and strength.
• We are all aware that mornings of joy follow every night of weeping, but when a death-threatening illness has been reversed by God's grace and healing hand has brought life-giving health and strength, we should never forget to thank Him and to extol His holy name for His kindness in raising us up into health and wholeness.

• True discipleship is a recognition that without Him I can do nothing, but that I can do all things, not of myself, but through Jesus Christ who gives me the strength.

• It is not that such women are brainless, but that they lack strength of character, wisdom, and spiritual discernment.

• It was not using any persuasive words or relying on human wisdom, that motivated Paul in his ministry... nor was it his eloquent preaching style that exposed Paul's inner strength and godly wisdom.

• Our strength is found in Him alone, for His grace is sufficient for every eventuality in our everyday lives.

• It forced them to live and work in their own, human strength, rather than in the supernatural strength that God supplies through His indwelling Spirit.
• It caused these believers to live their life apart from the sufficient strength that is supplied through the indwelling Holy Spirit, which takes place when a Christian is walking in spirit and truth and remains in fellowship with God.

• The garment He wore reached down to the feet, and a golden sash was fastened across His chest: His head and His hair were white like white wool, as white as snow, which denoted His super-abounding wisdom, and His eyes were like a flame of fire. His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters. And in verse 16 we read: In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength.
• We read: His face shone like the unclouded sun shining in its strength. John had captured a tiny glimpse of the majesty of Christ when the Lord was transfigured on the holy Mount, but as he lay prostrate on the floor before Jesus, His might, majesty, dominion, and power displayed the brilliance of His Person and, no doubt, gave the apostle an increased understanding of what it cost the Father to give His Son as the sacrifice for the sin of the whole world: God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

• Only in Him can we love God with all our soul, and with all our might, and with all our mind, and with all our strength.
• Only as we are filled with His supernatural love from above, are we able to reciprocate that love. Only as we walk in spirit and truth, can we love the Lord our God with all our heart, and mind, and soul, and strength - and thus, become a channel of His love to those that are hurting.

• He had not yet experienced the sufficient strength that only comes through the indwelling Spirit of God.

• The personal difficulties and dangers that we face in our everyday life, and our reaction to the distresses and despair of others is often the determining factor of whether we hold fast to what we believe of Christ's sufficient strength OR whether we allow seeds of doubt to darken our hearts to the goodness of God.
• But the trials and tribulations that are designed by the enemy to unsteady our faith, can be used as the catalyst to strengthen our trust in God if we will but persevere in His sufficient strength, for this brings honour to our Father in heaven and an eternal reward for those that patiently endure.
• We do not have the capacity to stand firm in this evil day in our own strength, but Christ has promised that His grace is sufficient.
• No matter what the status of a believer is, it is imperative that we are rooted and grounded in Christ and not reliant on our own sufficiency and strength.

• For God alone is our salvation and strength, He alone is our Rock of defence, our Shepherd and King, our Lord and our Life, our Way, our End, and our God.
• David knew that in quietness and in confidence is our strength, for salvation is from the Lord and He alone is the one upon whom we must depend.

• He wants us to recognise our own inability and acknowledge our weaknesses before Him, for His strength is perfected in and through our weaknesses.
• He gives strength to the weary, not to those that rely on their own strength.

• But we can resist the Spirit of God and grieve Him, and we can quench the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives when we try to live the Christian life and walk the Christian way in our own strength and not in total dependence upon Him.

• Well, we cannot be merciful in our own strength or effort.
• His strength and His mercy is perfected in us when 'king Self' is disabled.

• He encourages all believers to live in peace with one another and to give encouragement and help to all who are members of the Body of Christ, because he himself knows that the joy of the Lord is our strength, Paul calls on his brothers and sisters in Christ to rejoice in the Lord and to keep on rejoicing together in harmony of heart.

• Jesus gained the victory on behalf of all who trust in the name of the only begotten Son of God for salvation, because we cannot overcome the world, the flesh, our sin nature, or the strategies of the evil one in our own strength.

• How easy it is to blame our Saviour and allow fear to flood our hearts, instead of depending on His sufficient strength.
• How easy it is to forget that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
• What a wonderful truth to discover, that no matter what difficult circumstance we may be facing, God is our strength and stay, a very present help in time of trouble, and He has promised to be with us no matter what trials and temptations may confront us.

• Christ is the one from whom all members of His Body gains their strength.
• It is by Him that we are supplied with the strength to mature and grow.

• Paul told Timothy not to be ashamed of the gospel nor to be afraid to testify about our Lord Jesus, adding: And don't be ashamed of ME, Christ's prisoner! Paul had been imprisoned many times for the sake of the gospel and considered it an honour to suffer for the sake of his Saviour, while relying on God's sufficient strength to bring him through victory: It was for this gospel I was appointed a herald, apostle, and teacher, Paul reminded Timothy, as he urged him to imitate his way.

• She is thrifty and industrious, prudent and self-controlled, generous and creative, and she is clothed with dignity and strength, integrity and kindness, goodness and grace.
• The godly attributes of this virtuous lady are unattainable in our own strength, for the works of the flesh, whether good or bad, are rooted in the fruit of the old sin nature and are unacceptable to the Lord.

• Every opportunity had to be utilised to the full, but not in His own strength for His mission was to carry out the work that His Father had sent Him to do.

• He recalled the many ways that Israel had strayed from their Heavenly Father, and cried out to God to show His pity and strength on behalf of the errant nation.

• God often heals the physical wounds and earthly diseases that trouble our mortal bodies and play heavily on our minds and emotions, but oft-times He whispers into our hearts: My grace is sufficient, for My strength is made perfect in your weakness, in your sickness, in your hardship, in your loss, and your pain.

• Only the one that rests in the Lord and trusts their lives into His hands, gaining their hope and strength from Him and placing their trust in God alone, is able to be like a well-watered tree that receives hope and strength from their Father in heaven.
• That man or woman will not fear when problems and life's difficulties arise, but will hope in the Lord for strength and deliverance.

• NOT in our own strength, but in the supernatural strength that He supplies, through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit: Without me, You can do nothing.

• Whether we have a specific 'thorn in the flesh' or whether we are simply encompassed about by the difficulties and dangers of normal life, God is no respecter of persons, and the grace and strength that Paul received throughout his ministry is the same grace and strength which is freely available to all who have been saved, by grace through faith in Christ.

• There are many fine qualities to be found in a virtuous woman or in a righteous man, and being clothed in strength and excellence, dignity and honour is a beautiful way to describe the person that trusts in the Lord and reverences His holy name.
• In Proverbs, we read: The virtuous woman is clothed in strength and dignity and she smiles at the future.
• So often in the Word of God, the believer is expected to be clothed in righteousness, strength, and humility, shod with the gospel of peace, and covered with a garment of gracious praise, and each virtue that is manifested in the life of a believer is simply the reflected glory of Christ's own perfect righteousness and His gracious humility.
• When we are clothed in Christ's righteousness, it is His dignified strength and His gracious love that shines through (Christ in you the hope of glory).
• It was king Lemuel that wrote of the woman who clothed herself in strength and honour, in his beautiful description of a virtuous lady whose worth is far greater than jewels and who smiles confidently at the future.
• But when these gracious qualities of virtue, strength, excellence, dignity, and honour are displayed in the life of a Christian, it is simply the fruit of the Spirit being shown forth in the man or woman of God who is humbly submitted to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
• But the only virtue we possess and the only righteousness and strength that God will accept from His children is the righteousness of Christ, which only comes by faith in Him and has nothing to do with our own personal performance or human merit.
• The virtuous woman or righteous man is clothed in strength and excellence, dignity and honour, knowing that His grace is sufficient, and that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

• The praying man is the one who does not rely on his own strength, but trusts in the Lord with all his heart for all his needs.

• Although Israel had not fallen into the sort of apostasy that occurred later in her history, they fluctuated between trusting the Lord and trusting in their own strength.
• However, Scripture reveals they sometimes tried to do it in their OWN strength.

• And as the book of Isaiah draws to a close, God also comforts His people with renewed promises of deliverance from their enemies, restoration to their land, and the arrival of God's chosen Servant Who will be sent to save His people from their sins: The Lord will continually guide you, is their wonderful promise: The  Lord will satisfy your desire in scorched places, and give strength to your bones.
• He is not only the Provider of all our physical needs, but He is the Fountain of peace and pardon, the Well-spring of grace and strength, and His never-failing streams of salvation and security are ever flowing into the empty cup of the weary pilgrim.
• However far we have wandered from His loving arms, whenever we are burdened by the cares we are carrying or whenever the concerns of others weigh heavily on our heart, His grace is sufficient, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

• Paul came to understand that walking in spirit and truth is not something that we can do in our own strength - but something that God does within us as we submit to Him.

• They were to teach God's covenant nation the importance of loving the Lord their God with all their heart, and soul, and mind, and strength.

• How seemly it is that all peoples who dwell upon the face of the earth, are exhorted to raise their voices in joyful praise to the Lord our God, for He is our heavenly Creator, our Strength and our Salvation, our Rock and our Redeemer.

• Although the evil principalities of darkness will do all in their power to frustrate its almighty strength, the Light of Christ has already overcome the powers of darkness, and its penetrating rays will continue to invade the dominion of evil, with every soul that confesses Christ as Lord.

• The consolation and 'salvation' in this verse is in connection with the Christian's sanctification process... in which we are given spiritual strength and godly help to press forward to the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

• Even when we are beset by all sorts of problems and persecutions, we know that our strength is found in the Lord, for in Christ we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us and gave Himself for us.
• For Christ's sake, we should be content to suffer various persecutions, pains, and difficulties, knowing that He not only gives us the necessary strength to endure, but that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

• But it was not salvation that was lost, but the sufficient strength that God supplies to all His redeemed children.

• We have God's Spirit of counsel, comfort, strength, and might.

• No wonder this verse continues to tell us: He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
• Let us never forget that He never grows weak or weary, for in Him is everlasting strength, eternal power, and never-ending might.

• Loving others as Christ loved us, is not something that we can do in our own fallen, fleshly strength.

• Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
• And like Israel, we should follow the wise advice of Nehemiah: For the joy of the Lord is indeed our strength.
• And let us in everything, by prayer and praise, rejoice in the Lord and abide in His love, for the joy of the Lord is indeed our strength, through time and into eternity.

• Zechariah's second oracle has Christ's second advent as its focus, when the Lord will destroy the enemies of Judah and the Jewish people will acknowledge God as their strength.

• And although we should delight to praise God for the many blessings we receive from Him, day by day, let us rejoice in heart, soul, mind, and strength that our names are written in heaven.

• He was to draw his strength from the Lord God and was not to be dependent on his own brains or brawn.
• Had Joshua or the people of Israel sought to conquer the Promised Land by means of their own courage and strength, they would fail.
• Joshua was to saturate himself in the Word of God, to meditate on the promises of God, to trust in the truth of God's Word, and follow the demands of God that had been given to Israel - in the knowledge that God was with Him and the Lord was his strength.
• We too are to immerse ourselves in the Word of God, to meditate on the promises of God, to trust in the truth of God's Word, to follow the demands of God that have been given to the Church - in the knowledge that Christ is with us and His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
• The promise that the all-powerful God is our only strength and stay is no less true today than it was in the days of Joshua.

• The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
• If God is our strength and our salvation, we are to wait for Him.
• We are not to rely on our own strength or powers when encompassed by problems and pain.
• We are to be strong in the LORD, to draw our strength from Him.
• We are to take courage in our hearts and look to JESUS, and we will not only discover Him to be the strength of our life, but the Light to our Christian walk, and salvation for our soul.

• I wonder if David's thoughts travelled back to the wilderness wanderings of the children of Israel, when God provided the comfort and strength his forefathers needed as they trudged around the desert for 40 years.

• He warned of the dangers they would face in the future and the need to develop a strong Christian character, moral excellence, spiritual wisdom, and self-control... all of which depend on the sufficient strength and grace which is provided for us in Christ alone.

• God demanded total commitment to both His commands and His covenant which could be summed up in a few words: You shall love the Lord Your God with Your whole heart, and soul, and mind, and strength.

• Let us never forget that there are no rites or rituals to which members of Christ's Body are bound, other than to love the Lord our God with all our heart, and soul, and mind, and strength, and to love others as Christ loved us. 

• Paul understood that without Christ he was nothing - but that he could do all things through Christ Who strengthened him, for His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
• The joy of the Lord is indeed our strength, and joy in the Lord should flood our beings when we remember all that He has done for us all and the good work that He has started in each of His blood-bought children.

• May we take to heart this beautiful truth and determine, in His strength, to remain low at the Cross in humility of heart, and broken before Him.

• We are to carry out the work He has prepared for us to do in His strength and for His glory - so that it is not I but Christ living IN me and His Spirit working THROUGH me, every step of the way - until we can say with Paul, it is not I that live but Christ that lives in me! 

• And we are to speak the truth to others, in love - for our sufficient strength is found in Christ and is bound up with the truth of God.

• It silences the brilliance of the philosopher and dismantles the strength of brutish men who are mighty in their own inflated eyes.
• God chose to use the weak things of the world to shame those that rely on their own physical strength, whether it be man's military might, the political mechanisms of human government, the social influences of the unregenerate mind, or the unconsecrated ecclesiastical endeavours of carnal Christendom.
• Our boasting must only come from the Lord Jesus and Him crucified, for He is the personification of God's wisdom and strength.
• The plan of salvation for fallen man was determined in the council chambers of God before the world began so that the wisdom, strength, pride, and boastings of fallen mankind will be brought to nothing.
• For wisdom comes from God alone, and His sufficient strength is only to be found in the Person and Work of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.

• He also asked that these believers would be granted the power that only comes from above - an inner strength that is perfected in us as we depend on the Lord in all things.

• However, believers today can never pray such a prayer, for we have the permanently indwelling Spirit of God, Who carries out a myriad of ministries in each of our lives, and equips us with His supernatural strength and never-failing grace for every eventuality in life.

• Time and again, they relied on their own strength instead of trusting in the Lord their God.
• Isaiah reminded them that their salvation would be in repentance and rest... and that their strength would be found in quiet confidence in God.

• His strength and power is proclaimed.

• Just as God gave the Thessalonian Christians the grace to stand firm in the day of trouble for the honour of His name, so He has given His sufficient grace and strength to each member of the Church to become a living example of godly behaviour and Christlike character: So that the name Christ may be glorified in you and ye in Him, according to the goodness and grace of our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

• Only as we abide in Him and remain connected to Him, can we draw from His wisdom and strength, His power and grace, His truth and holiness, His peace and His joy.

• It nourishes the hungry, comforts the afflicted, supports the weak, gives strength to the weary, and confounds the enemy.

• Rather than permitting worry to darken our heart and cloud our mind we should look to Jesus and seek our Saviour with all of our heart and soul and mind and strength - for He is not only our Redeemer and King but is the personification and embodiment of all that is the Kingdom of Heaven, for Christ is all in all.

• Christ's righteousness rendered the strength of sin and the condemnation of the Law as powerless over Him, and as believers, we are positioned in Christ and identified with Him.

• We are told that strength will be freely given, when we admit our weaknesses and inabilities, and we are charged to hand over all our cares and disappointments to the Lord, Who has promised to bear all our burdens because of His loving-kindness and tender mercy towards us.

• While-ever David had his eye on the enemy and the gravity of his situation, he discovered that his strength was sapped, his sleep was disturbed, his fear mounted, self-pity increased, and the peace of God which passes understanding had fled far from him.

• God is our Strength and Stay, our Shepherd and Shield, our Protector and Provider, our Defence and Defender, our blessed Hope and the God of our salvation.
• Praise God that today, and into the eternal ages to come, our feet stand securely on His sufficient strength, His right-hand takes hold of our right hand as He holds us through every eventuality of life: Fear not... I the Lord thy Lord will hold they right hand, was the promise given through Isaiah and Jesus confirmed that nothing can pluck us out of His hand and no one can snatch us from His Father's hand.

• May we stop striving to live in our own strength and lay all at His feet.

• Paul presents us with some important doctrinal issues on the superiority and pre-eminence of Christ and the sufficient strength He gives to each one of us, day by day.
• He lists the praiseworthy behaviours that should be exhibited in the life of a godly man or a virtuous woman... for in Christ, we have sufficient strength to resist the multiplied deceptions of the world system.

• As believers on the Resurrection side of Calvary, the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit and in the power of His sufficient strength, we are enabled to love others as Christ loved us.

• What comfort and strength has poured forth from the book of Psalms into the hearts of so many believers, down through centuries of time.
• He believed the Lord was his Refuge and Strength in every eventuality of life.

• This is a general exhortation for all believers to be faithful in attending their local church assembly, in order to participate in brotherly encouragement, strength, support, edification, spiritual nourishment, biblical teaching, and the joy of sharing fellowship with like-minded believers.
• Let us do all we can to ensure that we do not forsake our assembling together as the Body of Christ, as is the habit of some believers, but rather let us take every opportunity to meet together with like-minded brothers and sisters in Christ for mutual strength, support, edification, and encouragement so that we can give and receive spiritual nourishment and sound biblical teaching together with like-minded believers.

• Compassionate Christian conduct, a humble Christ-like attitude, godly and gracious service, and a childlike faith that finds its strength in the Lord when faced with suffering and pain, brings Peter to the point in his epistle where he charged Church elders with new and important responsibilities, Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder, and witness of the sufferings of Christ, to care for Christ's flock.

• God is not a hard task-master but a good and gracious Provider, and in this Psalm, the people of Israel were called to rejoice in the God of their salvation and to sing for joy to the Lord Who is their strength.

• Paul had suffered greatly in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra, but the persecution he endured gave Paul first hand experience that Christ's strength is sufficient - for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

• Reverence for the Lord brings with it wisdom and strength, hope and joy, while esteem for fallen man too often entraps the soul and is accompanied by anxiety and worry.

• Jesus marvelled at the simplicity and strength of this man's faith, for he expressed an understanding of Christ's authoritative word and exhibited an unprecedented awareness of His sovereignty in the spiritual sphere.

• Let us seek to live godly lives, not living in our own fleshly strength or for our own honour and praise.

• How important to look to the Lord for our strength and rely upon Him to provide all that we need according to His riches in glory: For His blessing is upon His people for eternity.
• When David sought to depend on his own ingenuity and might, he discovered the inadequacy of his own abilities and energy, for David knew in his heart that salvation belongs to the Lord alone and that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble.

• Like the sons of Korah, we too are to recall that the Lord is our strength and stay that He is our present help in times of trouble that He is the Rock of our salvation, and the only shelter that can protect us from our enemy and that He is the only refreshment that can sustain our fainting soul.

• Paul discovered that God's grace is sufficient, that His strength is freely supplied and His mercies are new every morning.

• His grace is sufficient for His strength is made perfect in our weakness so that through Him, we may run the race of life and not be weary, we may walk in storms of difficulty and danger and not faint.
• David could have described God with a multitude of alternative comparisons: the boldness of a lion, the strength of the wind, the gentleness of a dove, the sweetness of honey.

• And may each of our lives be honouring to the Lord, Who died to pay the price for our sins, so that we may become a living testimony of God's saving grace and sufficient strength to all with whom we come in contact.

• Man is incapable of being holy and fulfilling the perfect Law of God... in his own strength.
• This caused Paul the same frustration that everyone else discovers when we try to keep to the letter and spirit of the Law, in our own strength.
• Paul wanted to please God and sought to do it in his own strength, but came to understand that he was incapable of keeping the Law by human effort.
• Paul began to recognise that there was a sin principle that works deeply in the heart of all humanity that prevented him from obeying God in his own strength - a sin nature that is at enmity with God and all that is good.
• Paul discovered the answer to living a godly life was found in Jesus Christ Whose grace is sufficient... for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

• Rather than honouring the Lord with their heart, and soul, and mind, and strength, he witnessed nothing but iniquity and sin.
• They rely on their own inner strength, power, talent, and wisdom.
• How thankful that we are not justified by our own good works or legalistic practices carried out in our own strength, since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

• The salvation, security, and strength of saints in every dispensation rests on Christ alone.
• Strength is of Christ, for His is the faithful testimony, the glorious gospel of grace. 

• God knew this imperfect generation of Israelites would be unable to keep the perfect Law in their own strength.

• In Christ, we have the sufficient grace and spiritual strength to bring down high-minded babblings that have been raised up against the knowledge of the truth - as we take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
• Our power does not come from our own clever conversation or witty words, but is evidenced in the man or woman who lives in full dependence upon God... and relies on Him for His sufficient strength and godly wisdom - to guide them through life towards their spiritual home.

• The character of the practical atheist who delights to denounce the existence of God excites the contempt of the Lord, Who scorns the wisdom of the unbelieving 'wise' and scoffs at the strength of the 'mighty' sceptic.

• We all need power in our lives, but true strength does not come from relying on our own capabilities but on Christ Who has promised that His grace is sufficient for all the difficulties and dangers of life we may have to face.
• His strength is made perfect in our weakness, for when we are weak in our own abilities then we become strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

• Paul, the mass-murder of Christians, was the wretched man of Roman 7 before he discovered that God's grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
• Go in this your strength and deliver Israel from the hand of Midian.
• God equips those He calls with the grace and strength that is required for the task before them so that the glory goes to God and not to man.

• Let us in His strength, keep our eyes fixed on Jesus so that we become a true reflection of His grace and compassion, His patience and love.

• Mishael proclaimed the rhetorical question, 'Who is like God?' which demanded the response: 'No-one is like unto our God.' Azariah was 'God is help' which brings to mind the well-loved psalm: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
• They also remind us that God's grace is sufficient, no matter what situation we face, and it reveals the humble spirit of godly men with courageous strength, who trust God.

• The almighty Creator Who caused light to shine out of darkness, is the One Who has shone in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ so that His life may dwell in us and His love may shine into our hearts and that we may be made ministers of His grace and show forth the excellency of His power to those that remain dead in their trespasses and sins.There is no merit in us that we should be so honoured, as the contrast between our frail, feeble, perishing bodies and His divine strength and eternal light demonstrates, but by His goodness and grace, this heavenly treasure has been placed in earthen vessels (our human body).

• His strength is always made perfect in our weakness.

• this is not possible in our own strength, but Christ our Passover Lamb was slain for us so that we are released from the slavery of sin and the power of sin in our lives.

• It is only through the strength of Christ and the supernatural power of the indwelling Spirit, that we are enabled to do the good and eschew the evil: for the one who does good IS of God while the one who does evil IS NOT of God.

• Abraham found Him to be his all-sufficient Provider, and to Moses, the friend of God, He unveiled Himself as his banner of glory and strength.

• Or we are left free to wander through the wilderness of life relying on our own abilities and our own power instead of His supernatural ability and all-powerful strength to keep and to save.

• He explained that unless we remained attached to HIM, we will also become unfruitful, for a branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine and draws its strength and succour from the vine.
• To abide in Him is to recognise that without Him we can do nothing, because all the grace and nourishment, refreshment, and strength we need, comes from His bountiful supply.
• Wonderful though abiding in Him is to the believer, it is only half of the equation, for as we rest and abide and remain in Him, so He abides in us.As our hearts cleave closely to Him and our minds are flooded with His beauty, so His Spirit abides within each one of us, teaching and training, leading and guiding, helping and comforting with an ever-increasing intimacy, as we grow in His grace and in a knowledge of our precious Saviour.Let us seek to rest in His love and abide in Him, moment by moment and day by day, for He will take each burden and all the pain of life and provide for each of us, the wisdom and strength we need to face the future, until abiding in Him and He in us becomes as natural as breathing.

• Despite their rebellious ways, the prophet presents words of consolation and strength to the afflicted people of God.
• The same God who breathed life into Adam and made a covenant with His people, Israel, is the same Holy One of Israel Who gives strength to the weary and increases the power of those that lack strength.
• Despite his blistering denunciation of the apostate ways of God's chosen people in the early chapters of Isaiah, the prophet's message from chapter 40 is one of enormous comfort and encouragement, for the Lord is a faithful and gracious God who gives strength to the weak and rest to the weary.
• He has promised that, those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

• But the chosen people who know their God and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, will display strength and take action for the Lord.
• They shall act wisely, take action, and display mighty strength.

• Loving our enemies and doing good to those that are unkind to us and spitefully use us can never be achieved in our own strength or self-effort.

• In warning the carnal Christians in Corinth that they were seeking to build up the Church by means of their own might and wisdom rather than the wisdom and strength of the Lord, Paul makes a strong appeal to these worldly believers to remember the serious truth: You are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you.
• We can live our lives in our own strength rather than abiding in the power and strength of Christ, but the house we build will be of wood, hay, and stubble, which will finally be burned up.

• The almighty strength of the Son of Man far outstripped the power of Legion, but it would be His death and Resurrection that would gain the full and final victory over Satan and the evil principalities, powers, demons, and devils that had enslaved man since the fall.

• It speaks coherently of His majesty, strength, greatness, and power, as further exhibited in the tremendous plagues that ravaged Egypt's fertile plain.

• After forty years of wandering, Moses once again rehearsed the need to trust in the Lord with all their heart and mind and soul and strength... to heed His Word, obey His commandments, trust in His faithfulness, and circumcise their hearts.

• David sought the Lord in the early hours or the morning, and he ran quickly to the Lord for the refuge and strength that he needed as he faced the challenges of everyday life.
• And no matter what difficulties and dangers he faced, we always discover David crying out to the Lord in prayer: Lead me, O Lord in Your righteousness because of my foes, was his oft repeated plea: Make Your way straight before my path. And in the difficulties and dangers he faced, David prayed for guidance and justice, he sought God's help and strength, and he asked for the blessing of the Lord for himself and for others.

• My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak.
• Despite the long list of adversaries that seek his destruction, the sorrows and sighing that sap his strength and the slanderous conspiracies that are plotted against him, David is able to declare: But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord.

• Before his intense training programme, Moses thought He could do all things through his own strength.
• God is well able to equip His chosen vessel with the qualification and abilities needed to fulfil His heavenly instructions - for His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
• But when our fleshly self-will has finally been broken by our gracious God and we can unreservedly whisper: Thy will, not mine be done, as did Christ in Gethsemane... then as we open our mouth we will speak the words that He chooses to give us, and we will finally discover His grace IS sufficient for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

• She displays strength, dignity, courage, and wisdom, and she is praised by both her husband and her children.

• Christ is the strength of God, and Christ is the visible representation of the invisible God.

• Paul refers to suffering as a light and momentary affliction, which is achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs all the hardships they inflicted, and God is using all such trials to train us in all godly graces, knowing that suffering produces patient endurance, endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens the confident hope of our salvation in Christ, and His heavenly rewards.

• Boaz means 'the one in whom there is strength', and God knew that He would not only use this man to be the provider and protector for these women of faith, but the Lord had even greater plans for Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz.

• So often when we are suffering, we cry out to God for help and strength which is a natural thing to do, but too often we forget that the Lord has given us all we need for life and godliness, and we tend to forget that God uses these times of suffering to develop our faith.
• And so the next step in James' spiritual journey is that during times of suffering, it is not simply God's strength for which we need to plead, but His wisdom also.
• When we approach the throne of grace for wisdom and strength, we are to be sure that our faith is in God alone and that our prayers are not empty words.

• Speaking of God's never-failing faithfulness to His people Israel, the Psalmist wrote: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble.

• However, every work that is carried out in the flesh is a carnal act that is carried out in our own strength.
• However, the works-of-the-flesh which we attempt to do in our own strength, according to our own will and ungodly desires, will never be reckoned as acts of righteousness.

• We are given God's sufficient grace and His supernatural strength through the indwelling Spirit of Christ Who causes us to be victorious in our journey through life, and enables us to be triumphant in every situation we meet.

• Paul points out that the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of the sinful man, and the weakness of God is stronger than strength of the unsaved man: For a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him.

• We do this in His power and not in our own strength, or according to our own standards, or our own human merit which is done in the power of the flesh.
• As believers, we are all saved by grace through faith, but if we live our Christian life in our own strength and not in dependence upon the Lord Jesus, we will still be saved but we will suffer loss, for the wood, hay, and stubble that results from works of the flesh will be consumed in the fire that tests each of us.

• We are even promised a reward for the good works He has prepared for us to do, and which we carry out in His strength.

• And when He is the centre of our lives, we look to HIM and HIS power and abilities rather than our own inabilities... as we know that His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our dependent reliance upon HIM.

• The image of a branch gaining all its sustenance and strength from the parent vine is a beautiful description of man's total dependence upon God, without Whom we can do nothing, for in Him we live and move and have our being.
• Although Jesus Christ was fully God, He drew all His strength from His Father in heaven, demonstrating how you and I should live our lives as God's children, drawing all our strength from our Lord Jesus Christ: For without Him we can do nothing.
• Until we humbly confess that in and of ourselves we can do nothing, we will foolishly and unsuccessfully attempt to produce good fruit in our own strength.

• There is no affliction that we have to face alone, for He has promised to provide us with the sufficient strength we need to endure it.

• Let us choose to walk every day in His grace and strength, as we seek to glorify God in our bodies.

• David chose to call to mind the faithfulness of God and reflect on the strength of his powerful Lord, Whose loving-kindness lasts for a thousand generations and Whose great goodness and mercy will follow all who trust in Him.
• And he sang out: But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength.

• The Lord may not ask us to stand in a court of Law or experience any of the difficulties Paul underwent, but no matter what we are required to do, He has promised to go before us and provide the sufficient strength we need. 

• He alone is worthy to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

• We do not deserve it but He is true to His Word and has promised never to leave us and always to lead and guide us in the way we should go, even during those times when we prove faithless; even on those occasions when we deliberately disobey Him or try to work things out in our own strength.In Isaiah 30, we see the disobedient nation of Israel once again being rebuked by the prophet Isaiah for a range of rebellious acts and defiant attitudes against God.
• But when things went well, and they were prosperous and enjoying the fruit of the land they forgot Him, ignored His Word, and started to trust in their own strength and abilities.
• Through Isaiah, it was also explained that it would be in quietness of spirit and through confidence in God's faithfulness that they would find strength to deal with the trials and tribulations they were facing.
• Like Israel, we can also be forgetful and foolish, rebellious and ignorant, disobedient and petulant, confident on our own abilities instead of trusting in His sufficient strength.

• Salvation by grace has nothing to do with what we have done but has everything to do with what Jesus has done for us, while works that we carry out in our own strength are meritorious.

• Peter had seen his own mother-in-law brought back to health and strength by the healing touch of the Lord Jesus and he no doubt tasted the water that was changed to wine and heard the many of the gracious words that fell from the lips of this simple carpenter from Nazareth.

• During this assignment, they were to rely entirely on God's provision and His sufficient strength, just like the lilies of the field and the birds of the air.
• May we abide in Him and He in us, moment by moment, and may we respond to His call to come away to a quiet place by ourselves with Him, knowing that He will provide the nourishment for our souls and the sufficient strength to live holy lives as we take time to rest in His love and enjoy sweet fellowship with Him.

• When we are exhorted in Scripture to KNOW something, we should make sure that this is something that we really and truly KNOW in our heart and soul and mind and strength and spirit.
• Our acceptance in the Beloved is as sure as His sovereign character, as extensive as His infinite strength, and as glorious as His unconditional love.
• All that is asked of us is to trust Him as Saviour and hand everything over to Him so that in His power, strength, and love, He can work in us and through us, as He slowly yet surely conforms us into the likeness of His Son, to the praise of His holy name.

• He wanted the Lord to rain down judgement on the wicked and show more of His might and strength.

• Paul knew that in his own strength he could not overcome the sin nature that governed his life.
• But it was a joyful day when Paul discovered, I can do all things through Christ, Who gives me the victory - because His grace is sufficient and His strength is perfected in our weaknesses.

• Nevertheless, he calls to the Lord for help and strength because principled and godly men have all but vanished from the land and faithfulness and trustworthy people seem to have disappeared from off the face of the earth.

• May we never forget that our strength comes from the Lord alone, for it is not by might nor by power, that we overcome in this troubled age: But by My Spirit, says the Lord.

• These words of consolation and succour were to bring reassurance and support, strength, hope, and courage to the disciples and to generations who have trusted in Christ as Saviour: But take heart!

• This was a God-given, aide-mémoire to help Israel obey and honour Him and not rely on their own understanding, or place their hope in human strength.

• The well-being, happiness, strength, and inner peace of the believer, is swept away by the floodwaters of a troubled conscience which stagnates into melancholy.

• And if the wisdom that is offered by the world is better than the strength of their military might, how much more must this apply in the spiritual realm.

• BUT we are never to forget that our strength is not of ourselves, lest we should boast.
• Our strength is to be found in Christ alone.

• It was faith in Christ and utter dependence on God for which the Lord Jesus prayed and which did indeed stand the test of time, as ultimately Peter's foolish trust in his own limited abilities and confidence in his own human strength, was replaced with an unshakable faith in His Lord and Saviour.
• Peter grew into a man that could say with Paul: It is not in my own strength and self-confidence that I trust – but in Christ Who is my all in all.

• Many of the blessings and promises on which we stand, had yet to be written and Stephen died without reading that His grace is sufficient and that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

• The psalmist was so confident that God would judge the world in righteousness and equity, at His appointed time, that his praises resounded with a triumphant note of sure victory as he declared: And all the horns of the wicked He will cut off, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up. He rejoiced in the prophetic certainty that God would one day cut down the strength of the wicked, while the strength of the righteous would be lifted up.
• A 'horn' in Scripture symbolises great strength, but Asaph does not fear what man can do to him for his greater confidence is in the Lord, Whose strong arm is mighty to save.
• May we never doubt the faithfulness of God to vindicate those that are His and to cut off the 'horns' - the strength, of the wicked.
• And may we rejoice that in Christ we have the sufficient strength to stand firm in the evil day, knowing that our hope is in Him.

• Jesus did not say that Christians would do greater miracles but greater WORKS and He told us: This is the work of God is that you believe in Him Whom He has sent, and for all who have believed in Him God has prepared many works for us to carry out in His strength.

• Men and women who are secure in their faith, trust completely in God's goodness and power and become victors through the sufficient strength that is supplied to all God's children by faith.
• James does not necessarily encourage these believers to cry out for God's help or His strength in their desperate time of need, nor does he advise them to request an escape from the fiery trial they are facing.

• The qualities that Paul lists for a church elder or spiritual leaders has nothing to do with one's bodily stature, physical strength, educational qualifications, bank balance, social status, business acumen, oratory skills, or magnetic personality.

• Alternately, he could have rushed back to Jerusalem like a bull in a china shop, to carry out the task through his own insufficient strength.

• He is Salvation to the sinner, Refuge to the saint, Comfort to the afflicted, Strength to the weak, Health to the sick, and He is the Resurrection and Life-everlasting to those who trust in His name.

• The infinite strength of His pre-eminent might and His superlative power is unsurpassed in time, through space, and into eternity.

• We are to ask God for an understanding heart, to practice morality, produce spiritual fruit in His sufficient strength, and trust in the Lord with all our heart.

• We are called to rejoice in the Lord, to pray without ceasing, and in everything to give thanks to the Lord our God, for the joy of the Lord is our health and strength, and His mercy endures forevermore.
• The joy of the Lord is our strength in times of weakness and protection in times of danger.
• Such heavenly joy can be maintained in the midst of all afflictions and distresses, for the joy of the Lord is our everlasting hope and strength.

• May we abide in Christ and He is us day by day so that in His sufficient strength we may bear much fruit to the praise and glory of God.

• A little earlier in his prophecies to Israel, Isaiah called to their remembrance that God is their refuge and strength in every trial they face, and their everlasting Rock in the storms of life.

• It helps to maintain our hope in Christ and encourages us to love the Lord our God with all our heart and mind and strength and soul - with thanksgiving.
• And since Christ is the one bread upon Whom we feed, we have all received the same benefit from our singular source of our strength - the Lord Jesus Christ - our living Bread.

• And what a beautiful description Micah gives of the Lord Jesus, Who would arise and shepherd His flock in the strength of the Lord and in the majesty of God's powerful name.

• All good flows from the Lord and the only good of which we are capable is that which is done in His power and strength.
• We are to do the good things that He has prepared for us to do in His strength and power, knowing that He is a faithful God and His faithfulness is new every morning.

• May we repent of any pride or neglect that has caused us to doubt the power, ability, wisdom, knowledge, or truth of Christ Jesus our Lord, in Whom dwells all the treasures of God's wisdom, knowledge, strength, and grace.

• Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Isaiah explains, God even knows each star by name and not one of them has gone missing.
• Is it astonishing to realise that Isaiah, like so many other Old Testament prophets, had to chasten the people of Israel for their apostasy and unbelief and had to remind them of God's creative majesty, His omnipotent strength, His omniscient knowledge, His sovereign authority, and His faithfulness to His chosen people.

• Stanza after stanza we are reminded of the fullness of God's gracious Word, its sufficiency and strength, its wisdom and power, and its continuous and continuing relevance and importance to all the children of men.

• He promised to provide their warriors with superhuman strength to defeat their foes and to give them inexplicable miracles which would provide victory over the entire land.

• God knew that sinful man and his fallen prodigy was far beyond the capacity to act justly, love mercy, walk humbly, and live in utter dependence upon God in their own strength.

• But when it is misapplied, misappropriated, and misunderstood, it is being used unlawfully, causing sinners to strive to do good works in their own strength, by attempting to keep the righteous requirements of the Law in the hope that God will forgive them because of their good works and meritorious acts.

• We are to consider Jesus Who endured grievous opposition and bitter hostility against Himself, and draw strength and encouragement from His example so that like Him, we will not grow weary but seek to follow His example of a life lived in utter dependence upon God.

• They are the good works which are done in God's strength and become our heavenly garments of righteousness.

• It gives peace to the righteous and strength to the weak.

• He knows that the joy of the Lord is our strength and that depression and fear are an enemy of our soul, and are tools the devil will use to shipwreck our faith.

• These three illustrations of godly living: the soldier in the battlefield, the athlete in the race, and the farmer in his endeavours, pictured those with great perseverance, strength of character, and a determination to keep on keeping on in the midst of great personal challenges and life's inevitable hardships.
• We are to set our affections on things above and not on things of the earth - we are to trust in His sufficiency for He has promised, MY grace is sufficient for My strength is perfected in your weakness. 

• His splendour and majesty are ever before Him, and His strength and beauty is in His holy temple.

• May we acknowledge that in our own strength we can do nothing - but how we praise God that we can do all things through Christ, Who strengthens us.

• We choose to enter into the sweet rest He offers to us, by diligently relying on Jesus and not our own strength, by choosing to trust Him, moment by moment, by faith.
• Once we are saved, we are always saved, but we can choose to live each day in a state of resting in Him and His precious promises (which are steadfast and sure, unchanging and true), or we can choose to live in a state of restlessness, agitation, and exertion, by trying to do things in our own strength in our own way.

• He guides us into all truth through His Word and empowers us with His sufficient strength.

• And yet, this God-Man humbled Himself, laid aside His eternal glory and infinite strength for a season, and took upon Himself the form of a man.

• God in His grace often uses those times of darkness and distress to teach us important lessons of His grace so that as we call out to Him for help and strength, we discover Him to be our great Support, our merciful Provider, the Rock on which we stand, and our holy, heavenly Comforter.
• God knows that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
• He knows that in our helpless state, His grace is more than sufficient for the needs of the hour, for His strength is perfected in our insufficiency.
• Often in His great wisdom, He will bring us to the end of ourselves so that we discover that He alone is our refuge and strength.

• The terrible consequences of false teaching and demonic doctrines percolating into the Body of Christ, cannot be over-emphasised, which is why Paul made this shocking invocation on all who do not love the Lord with all their heart and soul and mind and strength.
• Let us examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith and secure in the truth of the Word of God, and let us study to show ourselves approved unto Him and to love the Lord with all our heart and soul and mind and strength.

• The Lord's detailed reply to Job did not answer his many questions, but it did demonstrate God's omniscience, His goodness and grace, His forbearance and mercy, His wisdom and strength, His kindness, and His favour towards His servant.

• Although we know what is good, we are incapable of doing good in our own strength; and although we know what is evil, we are incapable of avoiding it.

• Legalism seeks to change the old sin nature from the outside and forces it to obey God's perfect, unachievable Law in our own strength, but it fails every time.

• Indeed, the truth of Elihu's statement of God's power and knowledge indirectly identifies his own lack of understanding of the perfection and power, status and strength, knowledge and wisdom of our God.

• God chose to use weak, human vessels to fulfil His plans and purposes so that the excellence of the power within may be of God and not of us - so that His strength is perfected in our weakness - so that God is glorified and we are not.
• When we suffer for Him, the greater the spiritual strength we receive from our Heavenly Father.

• He knew that the joy of the Lord was their strength, and that the secret of possessing the peace of God was to be anxious for nothing, but in everything to pray to the Lord and give thanks to our heavenly Father for His goodness and grace.

• Paul had learned that human wisdom and worldly power was of no consequence when compared with the infinite wisdom and eternal strength of the almighty Creator.
• Paul had learned that when self remains crucified and the indwelling Spirit of God is permitted to lead and direct the steps of a man, then God's grace is sufficient - for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
• Paul learned that the wisdom of man is foolishness to God, but that in His strength we are to preach Christ crucified.

• Paul secondly reminded them that the message he taught was given to him directly from the Lord, and that God alone was the source and supply of his strength and the One Who always led him into triumph in Christ.

• He came to bring hope for the lost, joy for the sorrowing, strength for the weak, and encouragement for the downhearted.

• The Bible reminds us 365 times to not be afraid, but to trust in our Creator God and glorious Saviour Jesus Christ, for He created all things by the word of His mouth and He upholds all things by the strength of His infinite power.

• The strength that is needed for today and the blessed hope we have in the world to come, is a heart that trusts in Christ, and relies on His sufficient grace and mighty strength.
• Every person we know and each security in which we place our trust, will one day let us down - including reliance on our own strength and abilities.
• Spiritual warfare is intense, and the arm of flesh fails when we face the enemy's onslaught in our own strength.
• We too are not to rely on our own strength, for Christ's strength is sufficient for all the difficulties and dangers we may face.

• We are to love the Lord with all our heart, and soul, and mind, and strength, and we are to love one another as Christ loved us and gave Himself for us.

• When one is weary and exhausted following some strenuous project, it is generally rewarded with a time of recuperation and relaxation, but Christ had little time to recover from His demanding and difficult preaching tour of Galilee before the next call on His strength began.
• May we seek to imitate our precious Saviour and gather the God-given strength we need for each day from the indwelling Holy Spirit through prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving.

• He gives His courage and sufficient strength to those that are hurting and crushed.

• In his customary introductions, which as always included the lovely salutation: Grace and peace to you,  Paul used himself as a role model to show that the comfort and grace of God brought him amazing consolation and strength in the midst of his severe suffering and persecution - and Paul assured his listeners that the Lord is no respecter of persons and would provide the same comfort and strength for each one of them.
• It was Christ Jesus, his Saviour, Who had fulfilled His many promises, and provided Paul with His sufficient strength that was at the heart of his message to these believers.

• God does not always remove the painful circumstances in this life, but, as with Job and David, He will give us the sufficient strength to come through victoriously, and by His grace will give us a deeper knowledge and understanding of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

• Their futile endeavour to patch up their old religious system and produce a righteousness of their own failed, but rather than admitting that the good works which they carried out in their own strength were rejected by the Lord and regarded by Him as filthy rags, these religious Jews sought to produce a righteousness by means of their own self-effort.

• But in Christ, Paul reminds us that greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world, and although we may be afflicted in every way, we are not crushed, for the Lord is our life and our strength.
• And although we may be perplexed by all the difficulties we are called upon to face for His sake, we will not despair for His grace is sufficient, and His life-giving strength is perfected in our weakness.

• However, we can't do this in our own strength and power.

• Angels are not called to rule but to serve, and David tells us about angels in Psalm 103: They excel in strength, and do God's commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His Word.

• The heart is the storehouse for wisdom and all that influences the life and character of an individual, and Jesus reminds us that we should love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, with every part of our inner being.

• Although Isaiah described the rebellion of the people of Israel in the early verses of this chapter, and how they turned back to Egypt for succour and strength instead of looking to the Lord their God, we as the Body of Christ can learn some important lessons and apply its vital truths to our own lives, in this Church dispensation.
• But what a comfort also to know that despite their rebellion and apostasy against the Lord God of Israel, that He promised: In repentance and rest you will be saved; in quietness and trust is your strength.

• Rahab's own heart had become fearful for her life and that of her family, for she believed in strength and power of the God of Israel and was ready to risk her life, plan an escape route for the spies, and when necessary hide the two men from the authorities.

• It was Christ's triumph at the Cross that enabled John to proclaim to all who believe: You are from God, little children, and have overcome them.  The strength of the enemy may be great, but greater is the power of God almighty.
• He purposed that all who believed on Christ would be endowed with strength from above.
• The reason we can rejoice is that as children of God we have overcome the enemy of our soul through faith, because greater is the Holy Spirit of God who indwells our mortal frame and empowers us with His grace and sufficient strength.

• for the Lord my God is my strength.
• for the Lord my God is my strength.

• Many of the Psalms cry to God for help and strength in the midst of difficulties, but so many of these Psalms also proclaim a trust in God by recalling God's righteousness and justice, by remembering the mercy and strength He displayed in former times and by rejoicing in the truth of God's Word and the glories of His great majesty.

• God also knew that there was no way that once we are saved by grace through faith, we could obey the law, resist worldly lusts, curb our fleshly desires, resist the devil, and be freed from the power of sin in our own human strength.
• God knew that the old sin nature that was imputed to us via Adam was incurable; incapable of being reformed or improved, unable to be mortified in our own strength, and incapable of being trained to become righteous.
• At salvation, we received Christ's resurrected life, which gives us the opportunity to draw on His sufficient power, for without Him our old nature can do nothing, but in Him our new life can do all things for He is the power of God, from Whom our strength is drawn.

• And yet too often we murmur against the Lord when things do not go as we expect or hope, and we demonstrate unbelief in our Heavenly Father by trusting in our own strength and not depending on Him in spirit and truth.

• When we are resting in His love, our soul is strengthened by the Spirit of the Lord, for His strength is made perfect in our restful weakness.

• Our spiritual safety and strength does not lie in our own knowledge or the wisdom of others but lies in identifying and eliminating those thoughts that have anything to do with putting someone or something in the place of Christ, in our lives and our minds.

• He carries out His work within, through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit Who provides us with spiritual gifts, heavenly grace, and the sufficient strength to fulfil the work that He has prepared for us to do.

• Paul knew that the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes can cause the most pious person to stumble and fall if they seek to control their own fleshly passions in their own strength.
• But he also knew that we have a sin nature and cannot control our fleshly passions in our own strength... for the power needed to overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil is gained from above... and is freely given.

• To the unregenerate mind, death on a cross and all its accompanying humiliation spoke of weakness and failure rather than victory and strength.

• God's eternal plan for man is so designed that we are unable to obey His commands in our own strength, but He will allow us to attempt to reach perfection - despite knowing that our fleshly efforts will end in failure!
• Often, we will spend months, years, even decades trying to reach our own standards of perfection through our own imperfect strength, until at last we come to understand that being perfect can never be achieved in our own effort, but only through Christ, our perfect, spotless Saviour.

• And they were given a very special and encouraging promise: You will seek Me and you will find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.  God would not be lost to His people forever, but they must set their heart to search diligently for the Lord; to search for Him with ALL their heart, ALL their soul, ALL their mind, and ALL their strength.

• And everyone who calls themselves Christians, all those who are called by His name, are instructed to abstain from every kind of evil but in Christ's strength, to diligently pursue that which is good while relying in utter dependence upon the Lord.

• As believers, we are united with Christ, and because the Lord Jesus broke the power of sin and death and hell when He rose from the dead, the strength of sin in our lives has also been broken and we have been raised up into newness of life, in Him.

• But when God has a call on the life of a man or woman, He equips that servant with supernatural strength and the sufficient grace to carry out the assignment and complete the task God has prepared for them to do.
• The same supernatural strength and sufficient grace that God bestowed on Jeremiah and other holy men in His service, is equally available to all that are called and chosen today.

• The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.
• The words of this psalm have become a source of great comfort and strength to generations of believers, providing healing in times of trouble, comfort in times of sorrow, freedom for those that are enslaved, restoration for all that are broken-hearted, strength in days of weakness, and hope in times of distress.

• We cannot keep His Word in the strength of our own fleshly nature.

• The only way to live the Christian life is in total reliance upon the Lord, clinging to Him by faith, admitting our helplessness, and trusting on His sufficient strength.

• But in His strength, we must stand firm on the solid truth of Scripture, trusting without wavering on the inerrant Word of God, rejecting the enemy's ploys that cause us to doubt God's precious promises, while rejecting anything contrary to the glorious truth of the gospel of grace.

• Today the Bride has little strength, but her joy and might is in the Lord.

• In the strength of His mighty arm, God will demonstrate His almighty strength before the nations and the people of Israel, and in righteousness, He will judge all things well.

• Despite his disturbing circumstances, this man chose to offer the Lord a sacrifice of praise because He had discovered that the joy of the Lord was his strength and that a joyful heart is good medicine for the soul.

• We can never love in our own strength or by means of our own human effort.

• A carnal Christian is sometimes called a fleshly believer, as he does not submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit, but rather seeks to live his Christian life in his own strength rather that in the strength of Christ.
• We try to function in our own strength, not understanding that we cannot accomplish any good thing this way.
• Let us seek to mature as a believer by faith with thanksgiving, knowing that of ourselves we can do nothing that will please God, but in Christ: We can do all things in His strength, as we abide in Him.

• We are wretched men indeed if we seek to carry out this command (or indeed any of God's commandments) in our own strength.

• Paul was explaining that it was not actually him that laboured in his own strength more than anyone else: But the grace of God working in and through me.

• Paul learned that it is not in our own strength that we live and move and have our being, but in the strength of Christ Who is our life and our light.

• Although we are instructed to resist him, we do not have the strength and ability within ourselves to withstand him.
• As we pray in faith and stand firm on the unchangeable Word of God, we discover that His grace is sufficient, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

• Like the Lord Jesus, Paul seems to have developed the desire to live his life in an attitude of prayer, and throughout his writings, we find him encouraging the Body of Christ to pray without ceasing, in every situation to pray with a thankful heart, and having done all, to keep on praying, knowing that our sufficient strength comes from God alone.

• It is God's will that we rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, and in everything give thanks to Him, for the Lord knows that the joy of the Lord is our strength.
• He is our everlasting hope and strength, and the psalmist knows that the rejoicing praises of this life will reverberate to the farthest corners of the universe and inhabit the eternal ages to come.

• Paul gives us these instructions to enable us in our quest: Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might, is the challenge to us all: Put on the full armour of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil... Take up the full armour of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day... and having done everything, to stand firm.

• For decades, Jacob had relied on his own strength and cunning to get on in life, but at Peniel, when face to face with God, Jacob reaches a spiritual crossroads in his life, and seems to realise the significance of what has happened when he says, I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been spared.

• Spiritual growth and maturing in the faith is not something we have to do in our own strength.
• Jesus is our sufficient strength in every situation, but it is by abiding in Him that we are enabled to access His power through a knowledge of Him Who brought us out of darkness into his glorious light.
